This song is the 2nd in a video trilogy of theirs based on the short story Without You. The 1st song is Don't Cry, the 2nd is November Rain, and the 3rd is Estranged. All are great songs. Great reaction!! 🙂

The lyrics and the video are based on a short story by Del James called Without You. The story is part of a collection called The Language Of Fear, which was brought back to market in 2008 after being out of print. The new version of the book contains an intro by Axl Rose, who wrote: "Del James has a personal knowledge of most of the situations he writes about, and has a love of the gutter from having been there." James contributed lyrics to two Guns N' Roses songs: "The Garden" and "Yesterdays," and has directed several music videos.
Written by Axl Rose, the original version of this song was 25-minutes long, and was edited down to 8:59. It is the longest ever Top 10 hit and contains the longest guitar solo in a Top 10 single.
A huge production, the "November Rain" video cost over $1.5 million to make, but reaped rewards for the band, as it got a lot of play on MTV. It stars actress and model Stephanie Seymour, Axl Rose's girlfriend at the time. In the video, she and Axl get married with Slash serving as best man and the rest of the band in the front row. After the wedding, it starts raining and the next scene is Stephanie's funeral in the same church.

@@SarahDengler Stephanie Seymour was a huge super model in the 80s. doing all the stops like SI swimsuit edition and Victoria secret etc. She was also in another great song by guns and roses video called "dont cry"
Dont cry got so popular they did a part 1 and a part 2 version of the song and both are good.

It’s a song about losing someone to depression and suicide.
Symbolism were everywhere.
For example, walked past a store with “Guns” and her casket had a mirror. When someone shots themselves in the face, they used a mirror if the other side was undamaged.
The lyrics were him questioning if anything they did or could’ve done…time away…when there’s no one left to blame…
So many lines that’s pervasive in depression and mental illness…
He had to medicate and drink himself to sleep.
Was the wedding a dream or a memory?
The loneliness, guilt, and damage to those left behind.
To everyone who has severe depression or living with someone with severe depression, my deepest sympathy and I wish you all the strength in the world.
Axel was very underrated as a writer.
Nothing generic about his lyrics.
Unfortunately, like Slash alluded to in an interview that the job of the guitarist was to manage the lead singer’s ego.

November Rain is one of my all time favorite songs. It begins with - "a love restrained" and talking about needing a break. I don't know why they are showing a funeral unless it is symbolic about her no longer loving him. In other words it is the relationship that died, not her.
You have come across a deep rabbit hole of greats by Guns & Roses. I am sure others will point the way. Right now there are videos of the late, guitar great, Jeff Beck popping up. One of the greatest of all time. RIP

2nd of a trilogy. I believe this has to do with axls girlfriend. After years they broke up she was pregnant they married miscarried and left him.
