Had to stop excersising because got scared. a 2/10 pain. The thing is i feel my leg need More muscle. What should i do? Any recomendations
It sucks but it will get better. Just keep doing the PT religiously. Even on days when you really don’t want to just try and do a little or at least do the stretching exercises
What should be done if the exercises for the replacement hip aggravate the other hip ?? Had a right hip replacement. Ortho Doc says both hips are bad so did the worst hip first. Rehab was going well till I advanced to the lower body exercise machines. Exercise really aggravates the left side, especially when lying down trying to rest. In addition to walking, I'm mainly focusing on the right side only. Not sure if this is good or not - may cause an imbalance ??? My right hip was replaced 4 months ago and plan to do the left hip - probably in the Fall. Is there a recommended time span between surgeries ??? Thx !!!
+physicaltherapyvideo Thx for your kind response. I was doing water therapy before the Holidays which worked pretty well till the PT added lower body exercise machines which really aggravated the left side. Plan to go back in the pool as probably won't do left hip replacement till Fall. Primary Care also suggested limiting walking and to focus more on cycling.
Hello Dr's :o) I had been doing the side stretch leg exercise instructed (2nd one you demonstrated) by my Physio but after 2 to 3 days I could not lift my leg any more, I mean the pain till now is excruciating and I feel like since I started these exercises my penguin walk has gotten worse. Before the exercise with the Physio I felt my john Wayne walk was getting better but I'm a bit worried that I feel like my progress is going backwards. (The ball used in my Posterior approach was bigger due to my younger age and way my former hip had deteriorated. Im wondering if this is why the 2nd exercise you demonstrated is causing so much pain? Thank you in advance for any advice.

I'm 5 months post OP posterior THR. I've dislocated anteriorly twice in August (4 months post OP at that time). Can I safely attempt these exercises?
Can I ask what caused your dislocations?
@@Nehru22 my surgeon said it's ligament laxity..hypermobility..my ligaments are too loose to hold the ball in the socket, so if I move wrong, It'll dislocate anteriorly
@@Ha-HaFarms okay, thanks for the info, I'm supposed to replace my left hip soon so I'm gathering as much info as possible on living with a hip replacement.
You guys are amazing I've had a hip replacement after crohns. Had gotten me bad and weaken my femur until it cracked sitting down doing nothing , I had to walk around for two weeks before the hospital realised I was actually telling the truth about my leg pain so I woke up mid opp seen them placing or hammering I might say it in there , I'd really like to hear what you two might advise i never got any physio or any after care or any pain relief? So if I'm two years after having it done should it still b unbearable pain from knee to hip? What can I do to help pain, I'm used to pain 24/7 have a list of problems a 90 year old might have but I'm just over 30 but this hip is another level of pain unreal. Any advice I would be very grateful
Sean Oneal I
8 weeks in ...thanks so much!
Thank you!
+physicaltherapyvideo Sure, thanks again, please keep up the good work, God bless you both.
When doing an anterior approach do surgeons ever have a precaution on abduction? If so why?
how often dayll?
I am 3 years post op full hip...can I dance?
I'm three years post-op as well and I practice salsa on2 and tango argentino every week. I've practiced ballroom dancing too. I think that dancing is a great way to regain some of the perception of your body in space lost due to thr. I usually feel better after dancing :-) Unfortunatelly my thrs give me a lot of pain, but at least they let me move quite freely...
Two three months after surgery?? Are u sure guys? Straight leg raises good to go on 3 -4 week
I had anterior surgery and is this out if date? 2 weeks in and I am not using a Walker
wild heart hospital had me on walking sticks 2nd day 😂😂

Chloe Bishop absolutely not...but you will be!
I had my left hip fone on 2/13/19. But even before the surgery I was having alot of pain on my right elbow. The doctor said because I was using it to help getting in an out of bet with my hip but it would go away after my surgery. it hasn't, the pain is worse especially as t night u haven't had a good night sleep yet I go from cold to hot and pop pills and cry all night what should I do it even hurts when I use my cane to go on walks twice a day but I still walk trying not to give in
Hope things are better for you now
This was extremely helpful. As we are our own worst enemies, I didn't have any PT after my latest hip replacement, which was Dec.29th 2017 and very little after my first hip replacement which was 5 years ago. I was thinking about requesting PT. but after seeing this, I don't think I need to So Thanks so much... I'm on it... :) I have that limp swag you mentioned, not always, just sometimes, I'd like to lose it... ty both vm...

Chloe Bishop It’s been well over 60 days for me and these are still tough! Hang in there!
Thanks james.geting fed up of being in doors for me doing my head in
It sucks but it will get better. Just keep doing the PT religiously. Even on days when you really don’t want to just try and do a little or at least do the stretching exercises
I'm at 7 weeks and i blew past all of these already. I need significant weight added to make it at all difficult. 54 Yo.
+physicaltherapyvideo Thank you for replying Dr. I am actually 10 weeks post op but my PT with a professional only started last week. I have stop that particular exercise and scared I may have fractured something as walking is painful again since that exercise. Funny as I was doing the first exercise you demonstrated and was getting on well with that but the side one just proved way to much I guess. Thank you once again for replying. God Bless.
