Thanks for sharing Matt. I have a set still in it's original plastic wrapping and cardboard packaging, never openned. It was good to see what it looks like.
That is an awesome, fantastic set. But I entirely get how it could get damaged. Wow, I wasn’t expecting to see that today…… and even the coins are cool 😀. Thanks for showing Matt - amazing set! 👍
Matt every time this set is mentioned I get that feeling in the pit of my stomach.I didn't start collecting till 2023 full on but I feel I have missed a magical set cheers 👍
I wish I was collecting back then, as a newbie at this hobby but as I'm a nerd when it comes to space I love it but unfortunately it's a little bit out of my price range for now. Great review and it is big.
That is a bloody nice set. I can't believe it didn't go off back in the day. I'm more a stacker than a collector, but if I was I'd be right on the phone saying "take my money!". Oh to have a time machine and go back and buy up all your past inventory
I put a set and Book with its original plastic cover and box together from Eleven different Sellers over a period of a Year a couple of years a go now , It truly was a Tour of the Solar System and its planets and how expensive they could be , before my planetary journey started i remember some time in 2018 seeing a PCGS MS69 Mars coin sell for only $60 at auction lol 🤣💦👍 Good video Matt
Something with a mintage figure of 7000 shouldn’t cost $10k - it’s speculative and because people are hoarding them. You can buy a dump for that and there’s
Exactly , most Perth mint proof coins with mintages of 5000 don’t even sell out most times . If the media said they are rare the sheeple are all over it
The question now is how many complete sets actually exist? The $2 Mars Coin was lifted from so many sets and sold individually that I’d say lest than half of the original mintage would still be in a complete set. Something to ponder over.
The Australian mint should make a set of the rarest Australian coins ever. Every coin should be rather distinct from the actual coin, no removing a simple dot etc. :), but they should be close. Histically, THAT set would be worth more than the face value from the start, and sell for a premium price, even among non collectors...
My local coin dealer talked me into buying one because at the time it was relatively expensive (and I thought the coins were ugly!). He mentioned the $2, but also that there were 4 OTHER first-of-their-type coins (I forget which ones!). So I purchased one set ($10 off). Now wishing I had bought ten sets 😂 P.S. How much did you pay for it Matthew? I know you won't say!! 😂
Why is the Mars coin the most sought after, arent the other 9 coins the same mintage as the Mars coin? Who's the bright spark that decided 1 coin from a set of $2 should be worth more when they are the same mintage and I would much rather the full set instead of 1 coin from a set.

I see why they were hard to sell ... but super cool ... thanks Matt
I have a complete set and glad I do. Will never break it apart or grade.

OMG I Luv it. Wish I was a collector then.😂
I am so glad this was before I got into coins, : ) You'd be miffed turning ya nose away back in 2017 wouldn't ya? Lol.

The only logical choice is Vulcan.

you didn't say what the coins were made of
