The $2 Coin Collectors Books Have Arrived!
nice video. subscribbed :)
I really like the card design on the war animals coin. I would love to see a PNC that basically matches that style. I think that coin will appeal to $2 collectors, war-theme collectors AND animal-theme collectors, so I think it will be pretty popular (well, clearly they were all popular, but I mean enduring popularity. I think the Countdown one is well done, but certainly more of interest to fans of the show - but I definitely agree, it's fantastic to see them bringing out pieces to commemorate things like this. And great video summarising it all too!
@@QuentinChristensen I'm tipping impressions in November will be quite expensive for all collectors 🤯 thanks for watching Quentin!
@@ThompsonsCoins Definitely! And full credit to AusPost last year, most people who wanted things from Impressions were able to get at least something - maybe not everything they wanted (maybe that was partly a funding issue for some of us too!) but I'd never been successful at getting anything directly from Impressions previously
Cool 😎
@@smartfizi thanks for watching! ☺️
Yeah Fregon kids ate all good three pence in the blood" y plum pudding " little basdard "s 😮 ??? 6:45
I find this coin pretty bland and boring also. Got them all but only cos I collect
@@yabrocharlie yeah it felt a little bland for me too, but I'm glad to hear you still managed to add one to your collection!
Love your work Matt
@@CoreyGrosvenor thanks for watching Corey! ☺️

Thanks Matt for the info, very timely!
@@MC-py9mc thanks for watching! ☺️
Keep up the great videos and I still treasure my Hobart mint zillion dollar silver coin.
@@JohnMHazlewood thanks for the support John! They are VERY cool pieces indeed!
I missed out on the Siver proof in the ballot as usual. I would love to get on your list if you eventually can get some, please?
@@JohnMHazlewood I think most people missed out unfortunately, I don't have any sort of list either sorry! Thanks for watching! ☺️
Thanks Matt great information for all of the collector's out there well done.😀
@@Philip-cy1ys thanks for the kind words!! ☺️
Another great video - however can some please explain to me how a prominent Sydney coin dealer is able to sell hundreds of these on eBay on release day at double the cost? Is the mint happy for this to occur?!
Yes I.S.Wright a RAM distributor should be kicked out
@@simondiamond4380 I'm not sure how the dealer arrangements work in terms of how dealers are allowed to sell stock but it's disappointing to see for sure!
How many silver proof poppy coins were produced?
Molly :How’s ya mum? Charles: You mean Her Majesty? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I entered three EQL ballots for the silver coin. I jagged one. I didn’t bother with the rest. The buyers who speculate are called scalpers. Collectors don’t sell.
@@sticustom it was certainly one of Molly's more ahh iconic interviews 🤣 although he struggled his way through the one with Iggy Pop that was pretty bizarre! Glad to hear you managed to get what you were after!
@@ThompsonsCoins Iggy was off his tree. He was not even in that week. He was off with the pixies. The body was there but the brain was on holidays 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 it was a great show. I remember Australian Crawl’s first TV appearance. James Rene had both arms in plaster casts as he’d been in, what I believe to been, a car accident. Ah great times.
I don’t understand why a coin the size of a $2 coin needs to go in a big arse box like the silver proof. I didn’t enter the ballot for that reason alone. I just don’t have the space.
People were rushing out to get the ABC coin, really?
Loved this video on the new 2 dollar coins, I entered the ballot and was happy to get the C mint mark $2 coin and the 50 cents Countdown coin, missed out on the Silver coin and the roll but happy I got something, liked and subscribed
Great video again Matt ballots for me epic fail again can only keep entering trying cheers 🍻
@@petertheodore1860 eventually you'll get lucky surely!! Thanks for watching ☺️
@ThompsonsCoins I got the best wife partner friend I think most of my luck has been taken Matt but I,ll keep trying and one day I,ll travel down to visit your shop in Boronia
Hi Matt, The UFO Coin is a BRILLIANT Coin well designed. cheers. Stephen.
and people are already selling them for $70 on ebay
I was lucky enough to get both coins in the EQL ballot. 🙂
@@Linda-b9p that's great news! Thanks for watching Linda 😊
1:15 A set of coins featuring Aussie Musical Artists would be cool, like the Holden and Ford Series. Twenty coloured 50 cent coins. I reckon they would prove popular! I like the purple colour. It's different.
@@peecee1384 absolutely! I think the concept of the ACDC box set was great but it was let down by the fact that they were 20c coins, if they were all 50c it would have gone bananas! Thanks for watching ☺️
Rolls are already on ebay for $250+ 😂
If you missed out just wait a year and crazy scalper prices on eBay will eventually go down, it wasn’t that long ago when the Vietnam $2 silver proof was selling for up to $2000, now they can’t get rid of them for $500.
They definatly won't go down this is a poppy coin if anything it will skyrocket in a year or two. Look at the red poppy as a example some rolls were going for 8k. The prices on ebay is very low atm some selling for as little as $200 a roll.
@@tredici72 it remains to be seen, but there's certainly examples of the reissued red poppy coins having some growth followed by a very flat period. It depends on a number of factors for sure! Thanks for watching ☺️
It will be interesting to see how durable the paint is on the purple poppy. From the picture it is a flat base leaving it open to damage easily. I hope the countdown coin is as vibrant in real life. Thanks for showing us them.
@@wisey95 thanks for watching wisey! You'd hope the paint would be reasonably durable but time will tell
I don’t remember seeing stories about war cats. Maybe they made good bomb detectors
😾😹
@@TeamDive2795 yeah if I'm honest I haven't heard any cat stories from the war period but perhaps there's an opportunity to learn some history! Thanks for watching ☺️
They never mint enough of the good ones but over load us with the crap ones 😂 they really need to lose those bamboo display box they look silly 😂 . I do like the count down 50 cent it looks amazing
@@kaynefryday1251 thanks for watching Kayne! Totally agree their boxes leave a lot to be desired from a collector's perspective!
Many collectors only collect $2 coins where I collect all denominations from the RAM
@@samanthacunningham2802 thanks for watching Samantha! That's a big undertaking!! 🤯
Again, I didn't win the ballot from the RAM. I just wish that I could win a ballot that I would like. Either way, one day I will own the Silver Proof coin
Is it just me or are the coloured $2 coins for the past few years getting quite cartoonish and not visually appealing 🤷♂️ I really love the older simpler designs. probably just personal taste.
It's not just you. I really don't like the recent cartoon style. (Compare the recent cartoonish tooth fairy coins to the original exquisite tooth fairy coins. It's like comparing design by school children to design by professional artists.)
@@fishing.on.saturn9833 I think you're right, the older designs seem a little more traditional in style and it's definitely a matter of personal preference but I agree with you 🙂
Awesome
@@Capncoin thanks for watching! ☺️
Very good commentary and realistic opinion.
@@elmeribarra9966 thanks for watching Elmer! 😊
First 😊 another one to keep away from? Market will go silly again
@@mcduncanpresents9389 well it's a matter of whatever floats your boat and sticking within your budget at the end of the day 😉
I love the bar-coin UFO events series from the RCM; fun, innovative and different. And getting pricey to buy earlier ones in the series. Thanks for showing! 👍
These are fun coins but I prefer "real" coins - that circulate. And I don't like anything from Tuvalu or Niue or places like that - I consider it to be "junk silver". The Canadian coin is interesting but I would never buy one. My 2 cents worth 😬
Hey Matt, have you ever been to Arizona and visited the valley of fire? Yeah it gets really really hot there my friend that’s why lot of people see aliens I would think.😆😆😆
Can you have all those coins without the box ?
Interesting coins. Also keen to see and hear your thoughts on the new RAM release of the Countdown 50c and animals in war remembrance poppy. Look forward to that. Thanks
Very nice 👽🎉😊
I wonder why the $5 note wasnt in the set...
Love your videos Matt, slowly turning me to the dark side of numismatics 😂
They are a cool coin , very expensive
First 😅 always love a good alien
Its simple cash is king. It has been proven in multiple ways: major system crashes and surcharges JUST to use ur card
What about all these people advertising 50c coin rings on media platforms? There is quite a few. I believe the laws in the US are "Only illegal for fraudulant purpose" I just assumed the same law applied here.
Very good point. I heard of a bloke who had a collection of over $1 mill in old, gold coins and in order to be insured, they had to be stored in a bank or mint vault. He was allowed to take them home to look at for 1 hr p/week. 🤔
Hi I'm in nz I have a nz half penny from 1903 don't if it's worth anything how do I find out
