What a legend Kai is. An astronomer who bought a house in a world-class viewing spot, and will let other astronomers come and visit him and look at the sky
Thank you!
I feel like my 16" Dobsonian would get damaged in transport though.
With great skies comes great responsibilities!
He living in a beautiful house under of clear night sky in the middle of the ocean. He absolutely lives in a dream
@@Artermis-jd5ny Shame that Musk's and other satellites are brighter than many stars and block observable space. Stargazing is changed forever. No more natural sky - for us and next generations. Just imagine it: That very overlook of the night sky you, me, we knew as a kid is GONE...
Your constant commentary makes this feel like a full blown production. so many times people just add music but I enjoy the banter to help the viewer understand what's going on .
Profesional !
I totally agree. I feel like I know and understand more when I'm not even that clued up lol
Computers are great. Aren’t they!?🤔
The most professionally produced channel on UA-cam, thank you mister Biscuit.
You are very welcome
@@Astrobiscuit i may have missed it, but what camera did you use for the live view? Thats exactly what i need (and want) to show my family more than just fuzzy blobs and without having to wait 30 seconds for a single exposure.
@@Sharpless23:03 he puts the camera name on screen
I argue that title goes to veritasium
What an inspirational video! Thank you so much!
The whirlpool galaxy was the first galaxy I ever imaged using my Nikon DSLR and a 600mm lens. I was pushing my little star adventurer to the limit with that one, and I had to crop quite a bit, but there it was! I've been hooked ever since!
When I was a kid in the 1970s, around 8 yrs old, I had a Jason Constellation, model 311 280X telescope. My dad and I used to stargaze together. Despite its obvious limitations, I could see Jupiter and several of its moons, among other solar objects, but the neatest thing we ever saw was a near-Earth asteroid. It was sunlit and took up much of the frame, big enough and close enough to resolve the rocky surface. We were able to observe it for nearly half an hour before it was gone. I’ve often wondered if anyone else saw it, or even knew it was there. Fleeting and rare to find, especially with that telescope, and it was magic.
That was absolutely FASCINATING!! I'm 67 now and I've been a nerdy stargazer for as long as I can recall! The ONE thing I regret is that I never gave my fascination for to actually flourish thus delving into higher studies and never getting around to actually purchase some serious enough equipment to make my nerdy fascination more tangible. Today I immediately became a subscriber to your excellent channel and I look forward to devouring as much as can be learned!
Glad to have you onboard.
You still have time! Go buy used equipment and get started!
Cheers bud
You’re 67 and haven’t yet realised that outer space is a concept, which is based on a creation story.
Religious much?
@ A concept? What are you watching on UA-cam?
17:44 The Windows Update killed me 😂
Same lmao.
Classic windows 😂
Always disappointing. That's how windows is. 😂😂
Just as that show, Space Force, where Dr. Mallory screams: “F*ck Microsoooooooft!!!”
That's the reason I fucking hate windows 😑
Night before last I took my little £60 scope out onto my second floor balcony in zone 2 London and managed to see Jupiter with some of its cloud bands and the little light dots of Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto, abd Saturn with it's rings dipping out as spurs of light. Your videos inspire me so much!
Saturn is a real treat
I use my scope with the phone attached to see Saturn, take a look at my effort
spaceis fake dont believe in that shit jupited is no more than 5 miles away
I remember viewing Saturn and Jupiter through my Meade ETX80 which I believe they don't make anymore. I was 14yrs old. I'm 47 now and still remember that night. I was blown away, although the planets were small through my ETX80 I could see the rings of Saturn and Jupiter's bands and her 4 biggest moons, they only appeared as small dots, but I could see them. Blown away I was and to this day I still love stargazing.
More people need to see this video... I bump to some people around 50 years old, that don't know what a star is...
I still don’t know what a star is.
@@joshbamberthe sun
Stars don't shoot
In Richard Feynman The godfather of quantum physics doesn't know what magnetic field is. He can't explain it cuz there are no particles involved lol
@Skyscholar on UA-cam has some good videos on the sun and or Stars but to be honest I it's so advanced I don't understand some of the words
Bloody Microsoft !
Yes, Microsoft are useless… but also, windows has done this stupid auto update for a decade, the update icon will have been sitting on your taskbar… so biscuit install your updates in advance!
Is there special Linux astonomic distro? Who knows it?
You can switch off auto update.
Blimey!! Linux is the only solution 😅
Only time I was ever scared at the dentist, was when he told me that they had been forced to upgrade to Win11.
i have watched unlimited amount of videos on UA-cam throughout my life and i can say THIS video is literally one of the best videos i’ve ever seen. what a great and mind blowing experience 🤩 the Cheshire cat looks interesting and weird in a beautiful scary way 😟
A new biscuit video is always an exciting event 😀
I really want to see these kinds of images irl. My obsession on this started when I had a dream as a kid looking at stars and planets. It was a crazy dream because I remember I was using a land survey tool lol.
astrobiscuit and chill time!!
7:40 Crazy to see such detail in real time
Well, in "real time"😅
The quality of these videos is unparalleled. Thank you, Astrobiscuit!
I can imagine Astrobiscuit talking with his buddies late into the evening at a pub, his hands in constant motion, describing the universe and explaining its mysteries; his mates eyes and ears not missing anything. I love this guy!
@@rlbrett you’ll have to get him off his roof first.
Liking this before I even watch it because I know I will love it.
I said to Rory after seeing this video, that I really loved this one.
this is so amazing my mind goes blank after watching this video and a very greatful thanks to your patience for recording thisa nd showing to us
So worth watching - space and light bent, mind BLOWN
Seeing actual redshifting through an actual telescope was kind of mind blowing for me to be honest. Very awesome video.
I´m in La Palma because of you!
Thank you very much!
Clear skies!
Awesome video! The professor of physics in the Faculty of Science at the University of Ottawa estimates the universe to be even older than we thought at 26.7 billion years.
He just multiplied by 2 because he was jobless
I wouldn’t put much stock in that idea. Gupta’s paper is incredibly lazy.
University of Ottawa? Did he say the universes correct gender?

Wow...One of the coolest channels I've come across!
My aunt who introduced me to astronomy and star gazing, recently passed away from cancer. I found it very-many-sarundipids to find your channel. Thank YOU! ...will be sharing it with my kids this weekend. 😊
Sorry for your loss
May she rest in peace.
Glad she introduced you into such an exciting hobby!
Why has this guy not got more subs?! New follower, and I will be buying a print!
I love your videos! This one is a lot of fun (like most) HOWEVER: the moon is NOT 384,000 miles from Earth, but 384,000 km!! That translates into 238,900 mi and the light from the moon takes approximately 1.28 seconds to reach Earth, traveling roughly at 300,000 km/sec. - 1.3 sec is close enough. Just thought a slight correction might be helpful. Thanks for all the inspirational work!
Im still amazed how you can see the horsehead nebula so clearly in live view!!
What a beautifully made video! “Patrick Moore for the modern era!”
Thanks, thoroughly enjoyed watching this!
I've been a hesitant neophyte for the past few months unwilling to fully open my coffers to fund this burgeoning obsession, and after watching this, I'm all in. my mind thanks you; my finances do not ❤️
I'm one of your followers, Bro. I have always watched your videos since 2020. I am also an astrophotographer here in Manila, Philippines.
Thx bro👍
How am I just now finding out about this channel?! I guess the algorithm doesn't know me as well as it would like me to think it does (don't put too much thought into that sentence... I'm really tired).
Outstanding, interesting, entertaining... and even offers some awesome Christmas present ideas. Well done, sir!
That sentence works fine for me. 🤷
It really is my Birthday now!! :D Amazing live view images and video, thanks Rory and Rik for the experience, this was special! P.s. the way you get information across is so good!
Thanks for travelling Astrobiscuit airlines.
Thanks for those funny moments you share! It's always a very good time when looking your videos. Love your British accent and humour. Merci beaucoup et joyeux Noel à toi aussi!
Took a sip of coffee opened UA-cam. AHA! Astrobiscuit posted woooo.
I'm buying my first scope after binge watching your videos, thankyou mate, I was a bit lost in life and needed a hobby and what a hobby to get in to. Thank you mr biscuit 🍪
Topnotch production as usual, Rory. Well done. Loved the video!!!!🎉🎉🎉
Hello all. I used to be a dedicated amateur astronomer but sadly, I haven't stargazed with a telescope in years and the last time I performed astrophotography was in 1987 when I used an 8" Celestron and took exposures lasting tens of minutes to capture some of the brighter objects shown in your video. While I'm well aware of the advances in electronics that took place during the last thirty-eight years, I was truly amazed by the images that you captured with your setup. The quality of some of the photos you took rivals and even surpasses what professional astronomers were able to achieve using equipment worth millions of dollars not too long ago. This video brought back many happy memories from my stargazing past and was a real pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing your viewing experience with me. Wishing you the best.
P.S. Kai's house is an astronomer's dream and he's very kind to allow visitors to stargaze from it.
P.P.S. The sky has really gotten busy since my stargazing days. I don't remember ever seeing that many objects crossing my field of view. Were these Starlink satellites?
i cant tell u enough how much i love this channel
Yes bro
9:20 when you show the Whirpool duo, this thought slammed me….”I wonder who’s there”….. then i realized that there is no doubt to be sentient life somewhere in that galaxy. This is an amazing video, sir!
Be careful not to call probability fact
I just want to say, I rank you up there with Brian Cox, you truly are amazing at this, love it
Maybe it’s just my algorithm, or THE algorithm, but the stars and what’s beyond seems to really become a massive topic the last few years. I think humanity is in for a massive breakthrough that will change everything we’ve ever thought about existence and life itself.
Hope so
ok . this is the most impressive video about universe objects i ever seen and just because you did it on your OWN... is so so BEAUTIFUL
Glad you enjoyed it!
It's amazing how you can see such things. whatever object I point at that's not a planet or Orion nebula or andromeda galaxy I can't see, even the Hercules Cluster.
What a way to describe beauty
Absolutely Awesome video. You're my new eyes now. I can't thank you enough, my new, wonderful friend. Peace and love from Georgia USA ❤
In india it's 1:30am I am now watching your video ❤❤❤
Nice
Made me feel nostalgia. The video gives the vibe of something from Discovery channel that I used to watch as a child.
OMG this is legendary ; THANK YOU for setting my mind FREE;

@@TheJackfrost88 What twaddle. Reality is real
Just recently got into astrophotography, found your channel and just have to say fantastic!!! Loving your content MRbiscuit 👊🏽👊🏽 really enjoyable to watch
And there are actually people on this planet who believe the earth is flat.
And there are also people who think Space is fake.
😂😂 they out to get their asses kicked
Why are the stars moving by making noise when there that far away haha😂
@Riktenstein how can they see all of these planets so far away but cant see what's on planets next to us
@michaelbrantley3079 scale.
As an astronomy nerd growing up, I was able to understand most of the photos I saw in childhood and how they were taken. So in a way, you made me understand my childhood a little bit more, and I thank you for that Kai! 🙏
Thank you so much Rory you got me into this beautiful hobby! I bought a £600 6 inch Newtonian from some guy for £250 it wasn’t even used! I’ve got pictures of most of the planets, andromeda and the Orion nebula. Just using my iPhone. I can’t wait to get a proper camera!
I need to try using a phone. I'm experimenting with eyepieces
Hi Rory, I just used a 25mill eyepiece and used the night mode and set it for 10 seconds it will bump up to 30 seconds if you keep the phone still. Put your exposure to 0 because it adds its own light filters that ruin the photo. For things like the Orion Nebula I only put the night mode on for 5 seconds and took loads because the earth moves to fast and it blurs. Thank you so much for relying!
This was one of the best watching experiences I had on UA-cam. Thank You!
Loved it💯💕
Thankyou so much for this story and journey. It was utterly beautiful and fascinating!
The windows update thing is already a classic thing
What a content!. Your effort in putting new stuff and the quallity of production is much appreciated. The fact that you don't waste your time (and ours) testing crap pieces of equipment (like most youtubers) is specially welcomed

I remember taking some astrophotography with an old pixel phone and it amazed me at what it was able to photograph yet this is just utterly amazing. In the grand scheme of things, we really are insignificant in this vast Universe that we happen to live in on a tiny, tiny blue dot. Blows your mind. Awesome video. Thanks.

How does one even manage to instal it? 😂 Holy.....
Just eye balling it, looks to be a 12". As far a the F ration, im assuming its an F5.

OF COURSE WINDOWS RUINS THE FUN
This is by far your best video ever imo. I absolutely love these extreme dso's 🎉
12:57 what was that in the sky ?????
A bat lol
Mothman or The Jersey Devil most likely.
I love how well you explain things.
4:31 The moon is 384,000 km away, not miles.
Still same tho
It’s the first time I’ve come across your channel, you need to be on TV your brilliant at explaining things thank you 👍
11:33 it's actually in a spiral, not a 2d "up and down" wave ^-^
You don’t know buddy
Bring back the budget friendly, cheap, makeshift equipment, home made telescope shots series please. It's one of the reasons that makes this channel great on youtube. It has motivated me to make my own camera and scope rig. There are plenty channels doing astrophotography with expensive gear at perfect locations. You are the only one who started doing it from your home roof with minimum equipment. And Please bring back Mr bunny! we miss him.
12 billion year old photons? Photons don't experience time, the moment they left the object is the same moment they hit the camera sensor. Well, to them anyway.
You know what people mean when they say that lol. How long ago the photon was released from our reference frame. It's like calling someone out for saying "salt" instead of "sodium chloride" 🤓
This is just incredible I like your videos the most because u acknowledge me with your new setup and finding beautiful things in our universe 😊😊😊😊
Ahm, NO. The moon is at a average distance of around 385.000 Kilometers, not Miles. (😁british Metricamateuers)
By chance it was 385000miles that night as it was at apogee (prove me wrong😂)
@@Astrobiscuit We are alive, that's my proof. If the Apoapsis would be at 616.000 km I guess we'd have tides with hundreds of "yards" and insane rotation variation😁
