Thanks Alex for your emotional reaction Amy Lee is amazing singer and songwriter and pianist. Her voice is different level not many singers can make you feel emotional, she got a such talent. To sing like that to give you heart and soul in any song which perform....she have all my respect and admiration. Just amazing.

The song is about death person, whose presence won't leave you alone (even when it is wanted to leave) . So, it is about pain and sorrow of trying to get over a death of a person you knew. Ben Moody (the guy on the music video) got the idea for this song when his grandfather died... huh.... Sad, but beautiful song

The dead person is actually singing and, perhaps, unaware of her death. The singer is Amy Lee and at no time during the video does she actually touch the ground. She is a spirit that can’t seem to detach from her loved one.
Well, I read that it can also be about Amy's 3-year old sister that died (would connect it with Tears in Heaven), or her epileptic brother who took his life.
@@feedingravens Nope. My Immortal is not about Amys sister. Evanescence has two songs that are about her, the songs are Hello and Like You.
+ Amys brother died in 2018 and the first versions of My Immortal are from 1990s. In addition, I'm quite sure he didnt commit a suicide (I'll check this).

I loved this song the first time I listened to it back in 2003 but I didn't cry to it. Yes, I felt the goosebumps every time I listened to it but I cried to it more than 10 years later when my granny passed away. So, this song is tremendously magical. I'm sure I had listened to it more than a thousand times by the time I cried for the first time and yet it really got me.

I introduce you to Dimash, Dimash is a very humble and simple boy from Kazakhstan, for what i have read and seen he highly appreciates his roots and exposes them when he can in his presentations. Alex N Channel yeah it’s something that shaped my whole life knowing death before I was even born, I actually remember the nightmares my mom had the last 3 months she was pregnant with me, which is one of the many reasons I had a lot of problems growing up

Alex N Channel I’m good now after years of therapy, but it was a long hard road after years of abuse from my father in my early years and then my my peers and society being a weird outcast kid who was racially ambiguous because of my Native American background and coming out as bisexual and painting my nails and wearing makeup in the mid 90’s and then Columbine happened and it was open season for kids like me with bullies and the school administration

There are two theories, which is correct I don't know, Ben says the song was written being haunted after a partner committed suicide. The other is that Amy's sister who died from cancer when she was young(she finds it hard to sing), personally I can hear both stories in the song. Hardly ever fails to not bring tears to my eyes. As much as I love this lady's voice in many of the bands songs, my latest love is Floor from Nightwish, her voice is on a whole new level of fantastic

The reason people send you songs like this in addition to upbeat songs is because life is not all about being upbeat. Life has ups and downs… break ups, loss, death, despair. I know that as boys/men we are not brought up to feel or express emotions, because it is thought of as being weak or not masculine. But you are a man now, so you are in charge of your own destiny. Let yourself be vulnerable, let it show, it will bring you mad respect plus it will be good for you personally. It is part of being human, to experience and to give in to these kind of emotions. It is not healthy to bottle them up or to try and harden yourself against them, because when a situation presents itself such as this, it may destroy you. You don’t have to cover your feelings with observations about how well the song is sung, which is obvious. The song and the video are a masterpiece of emotion, and respect should be paid accordingly. What is interesting is how this song is SO emotional ... and what is plain to see is how hard you are trying to keep your emotions in check .... which has the exact opposite effect and shows how emotional you got.
