I will never ever forget witnessing this scene for the first time in the cinema. There was no Popcorn munching or Cola slurping or even silent whispers audible in the entire room. Every single person was absolutely silent and stared at the screen right up to seeing Bond's heartbroken realisation that he can't bring Vesper back to life. This was the moment that an older lady a few rows back started to whimper. She obviously struggled and it took her a minute to contain herself. I did not dare to look back and watch her cry, but I saw her face later when we left the cinema.
I was in the movie theater when Theresa Bond was killed at the end of Her Majesty’s Secret Service. It was the first time we saw Bond vulnerable. Everyone filed out of the theater in silence.

This film stripped back the over the top plots to challenging Bonds masculinity. It ripped out his heart, soul and balls and asked us what's left of him
Just watched the new Bond film today, it was great! Lots of details paid homage to the previous James Bond films and actors: 1. The famous James Bond gunbarrel sequence in the beginning of the movie. 2. James Bond swim suit similar to the great Sean Connery. 3. The evolving James Bond car, watch it and you’ll see it chances throughout the film, also great use and movie time for the car, didn’t have hydraulic seats though. 4. Some bits reminded me/had similar feeling to Pierce Brosnan’s Bond in Tomorrow Never Dies, spoilers: the halo jump using a ship, the ship wreckage, the whole island and looking like the Stealth ship, the whole British ships and not wanting to cause international incident/news. 5. Villain’s eyeball, similar to the famous villain shoe. 6. Bond’s watch again has useful features. 7. Homage to the old “M” Judi Dench. 8. Two 00s, remember Goldeneye had 006 and 007. 9. Vesper Lynd story. 10. List goes on.. movie paid great homage to the James Bond legacy, and it was a great but also sad finale for Daniel Craig’s James Bond. “James Bond will return” though
I just noticed for the first time that Vesper locked herself in deliberately. I always thought that Vesper wanted to survive, so in a way, knowing that she died on her own terms (sort of) makes this scene slightly less depressing.
The way I’ve always felt in this scene was that Vesper thought of herself as a horrible person who turned on her own government, and she honestly felt that even though she loved James, he deserved to be someone who was never going to betray him. This is just my opinion.
She decided to die instead of living because living would mean being Bond's weakness and things will just go worse from this experience so Vesper chose to die instead of putting Bond to further more torture in the future.
I like the dialogue that comes after this scene: M: James, if you need time... J: Why would I need time? M: well to- J: The job is done and the bitch is dead. lmao
Although its already more than 15 years, this is classic. Vesper will remains the best bond girl for me, she have the power to make bond lost his mind and soul. We can see that through bond reaction, he just lost control of himself through his face and eyes. Vesper is his emotions and soul. Madeleine might fill the empty glass but its not full like vesper did. Throughout the end of the Danny's bond arc, i can still feel james dont mind sacrificing himself for Madeline and his daughter because to him his time of existence is already long due, part of his emotions and soul already died with vesper. Like he said earlier in NTTD, he misses her. That's not something that u said when u want to let go or forget something. That kind of feeling is not something that you can replace, its permanently entrench inside the heart. He try to hate her the rest of his life, but truth be told he love her more than he can imagine, thus uttering the word i miss you and ask for her forgiveness not because he's going to let her go, nope... Its because he admitted to his defeat and guilt of trying to hate her for the last 15 years. Daniel admitted that they tired to do next sequel which nom related to vesper but they failed miserably, its always comes back to vesper until the end of the arc. The ghost of vesper lynd will always be with james kindling his heart when he feels alone until his death. Hahaha... What a love story
It took me a while to get why Vesper didn't want Bond to save her and opted to let herself drown other than maybe because she was meant to die as part of the script. But after I thought about it, I realized now why and it is a testament of her love for him. She knew if she was to live that she will be Bond's greatest weakness. Someone Bond is willing to do anything for. She knew the strength and capacity of their love that she ultimately decided it could only end well if she's gone. That it would be the best option. Hence giving us a very emotional satisfying end.
Just realized that Vesper is to Bond as Gwen Stacy is to Spider-Man. The fighting to get to her before she falls to her death, the first love, the way her death changes the franchise forever.
Losing the girl of your dreams who views you the same way changes you forever. Didn’t happen with mine dying but a bunch of dramatic stuff happened years ago and I still haven’t had romantic feelings for another girl despite trying with a lot.
@@roll14tideroll I'm sorry :/ I think it's incredible that you got to experience a love that intense. Hopefully you'll get to experience a love that's even stronger, one that endures
Vesper is my favourite Bond Girl and her impact on Bond and his life is why. She broke down his defences and softened him only to harden him harder then he ever was in her betrayal and death. Eva Green was incredible in this film, utterly stunning with amazing chemistry with Craig from the moment they meet, she's unlike any other Bond Girl and challages Bond like no other . You can easily buy James love for her and why the James Bond we typically know is born from her death and betrayal.
My favorites were Goldeneye and Skyfall follow by Casino Royal saw no time to die today was disappointed on how they treated 007 should of retired the number and assigned the actress with another number the ending was kinda meh but the way Craig goes was kinda not too shocking
Vesper and Tracy's death are the most saddest deaths for the Bond girl, honorable mentions are Tilly Masterson from Goldfinger and Aki from You only live twice, brutal bond girl deaths are corinne dufour from Moonraker and Countess Lisl from For your eyes only, Severine from Skyfall should have survive if Bond reacted early
Tracy's death in On Her Majesty's Secret Service was brutal as well. They had just gotten married. Both her death and Vesper's were heartbreaking. Vesper dying was the straw that broke the camel's back for Bond.
The fear of losing someone you actually, truly love, will compel a person to do radical, insane things. If you have ever been gripped by that fear, you know there isn't much you wouldn't do to assuage it.
I watched this movie when I was 10 and that scene traumitizes me even now. There can be no better explanation to why bond is the way he is other then vesper's betrayel and death. He didn't let anyone in after that in the movies (up until swann which he did let in altough they didn't develop it 1/100 as well and at the depth they did here), and saw women as nothing but play things not because he was sexist or anything like that, it was because he could never take off his shell and stop the act, in fear of experiencing such a tragedy again. He sort of numbed himself.
Spoilers for no time to die . . . . Looking at this tragedy in light of the latest and also final bond film, it does feel less tragic and traumatizing then it did before, because bond finally succeeded moving on from this event and was able to forgive vesper and not let this tragedy further dictate his behaviour and his actions in a destructive manner ( at least after the five year gap, it was clear he abandoned swann after he thought she betrayed him because it was too close to home and he couldn't let the vesper case repeat itself). He finally opened himself to a partner and was able to connect again and take off his shell, and he got what he wanted which was a family, which is why, altough sad, I think he didn't die unfullfiled and was at peace with his death, knowing he had a wife and daughter who loved him, and that he was finally able to be himself again. Which imo gives the craig era a full arch that is developed perfectly. We saw him in the first film totally honest and open, then in quantum and skyfall closed off and in shell, and spectre and nttd are a doulogy that reflect his journey of finally opening again and moving on. Perfect storytelling and it makes craig's bond the most complex and most compelling out of all bonds, and that solitifies him as the best one for me.
The intense emotion and acting created here by Daniel Craig and Eva Green is just untouchable. very real, very visceral - you can feel his utter devastation at her death despite the fact she had betrayed him. Bond loved Vesper so deeply, and I think being a secret agent it was the farthest he had allowed any woman to enter his heart. So when she died and the circumstances of it, something inside Bond broke forever. Broke never to be repaired by any other woman again and this cements his emotional veneer towards all women from that day henceforth. I like the way Daniel Craig is able to, without saying a word or a scream, the moment he realises Vesper is dead - and in his desperation and unbelief he suddenly drops her body onto the platform, moves away from it, his glance away from looking at her in that moment - bcos he just cannot believe she is dead. Then turns back to look at her body, his eyes seem to get deeper blue with every deep stroke of his heart forever. Awesome.
@@benjaminterrell998 she never truly loved him maybe just a bit. She was quantum's mole since the beginning of the movie yet she made bond believe it was Mathis all along. Although she did save bond by making the deal so that Mr white would spare him but there was never any loyalty or truth hence she didn't truly love him.. she loved both bond and Yusuf albeit fell a bit more towards bond when she took off her necklace 5 minutes before dying 😂
A sad ending for Vesper and Bond’s first true love and a sad beginning for Bond becoming the agent we all know Somewhere in the background Oberhauser is laughing maniacally; it makes sense given what he tells Bond in Spectre “Or did you think it was mere coincidence that all the women in your life ended up dead? It was me, James. It was always me…the author of your pain.”
The death of Vesper Lynd played by Casino Royale 2006 broke the heart, mind and soul of James Bond played by Daniel Craig and James love for Vesper changed him forever and Vesper loved James so much that she rather die than live with betraying him and it is fact that James has never gotten over Vesper and she was the love of his life and James was the love of Vesper's life too.
Great scene... It's amazing how people have finally gotten to love Craig as Bond. I can still remember when the role was open and people didn't give Daniel Craig a chance, especially me. I had hated the role he played in "Road to Perdition" but here I am saying otherwise... No time to die did not just blow my mind, but I have finally conceded to the fact that Daniel Craig is the perfect blonde Bond! Will it also suffice to say that we have a new dOuble Oh 7even, and that she's female?
With the leaving of PAUL HAGGIS as co-screenwriting the bond movies, something big was lost IMHO. You can see/and feel it with Spectre and NoTimeToDie. Both film tried to fill with everything but they feel empty inside.
I liked how he used the Omega as a knuckle duster shortly before this clip starts. I guess that counts as 5 straight movies with it being used as a gadget.
Wow, I watched No Time To Die and Casino Royale again very recently and I still buy Bond and Vesper as true lovers way more than Bond and Madeleine Swann
I loved that movie and every scene but I never understood how long they were supposed to have been together. Because it feels like mere weeks but they play it as if they’ve fallen in love everlastingly.
The adrenaline fight or flight response after CPR says it all. He's ready to attack. I always took the final look he gives Vesper as, I'm all worked up ready to fight but what am I fighting for? The love of my life is already dead. He desperately tries to find that mind body armor he put on so long ago, but it fails him. The look of true vulnerability and world chattering loss.
@@thevoid99 I beg to differ. Quantum of Solace included remnants of his former lover. It ended their story, or so we thought. Hopefully, NTTD continues what was revealed in Spectre.

Ok I know I’m not the only one who sometimes cries during this scene, mans is loosing the love of his life:(
Such a sad scene. From 1:37 onward is def one of the best tracks of David Arnold's Bond career (up there with the last 3 mins of Tomorrow Never Dies).
In the book, she actually committed suicide with sleeping pills to save Bond's life.
She decided to die instead of living because living would mean being Bond's weakness and things will just go worse from this experience so Vesper chose to die instead of putting Bond to further more torture in the future.
I like the dialogue that comes after this scene:
M: James, if you need time...
J: Why would I need time?
M: well to-
J: The job is done and the bitch is dead.
lmao
Yes but its actually one of the saddest moments in bond.
@@maxwengel4111 exactly. Such a ruthless yet sad line
Also I just found out it's a line taken directly from the original novel
*3:41** His look was like, ''I'm sorry... I failed you''. Great performance by Daniel Craig.*
It doesn´t matter how old I´m going to be - I will always cry when I watch this scene

Hai ragione. .Quando si rende conto che vesper è morta ..straziante ..magistrale interpretazione
I didn't imagine a Bond movie could make me feel tragedy and loss like this one did. EASILY my favorite Bond and favorite Bond movie.
This movie and Goldeneye are tough to beat, just amazing.
If NTTD is good then I want either Cary or Martin to direct the new bond
My favorites were Goldeneye and Skyfall follow by Casino Royal saw no time to die today was disappointed on how they treated 007 should of retired the number and assigned the actress with another number the ending was kinda meh but the way Craig goes was kinda not too shocking
The music in this scene is so emotional and powerful
Vesper and Tracy's death are the most saddest deaths for the Bond girl, honorable mentions are Tilly Masterson from Goldfinger and Aki from You only live twice, brutal bond girl deaths are corinne dufour from Moonraker and Countess Lisl from For your eyes only, Severine from Skyfall should have survive if Bond reacted early
Reacted early how? Like shoot Silva before aiming for the Maccallan glass?
@@parthparikh2267 is Madeline Swann part of the novels ?
@@parthparikh2267 yeah he fought silva when Severine was dead
He indeed broke down already. Different from those happy ending type. Its a serious Bond movie and it really works
now bond has reunited with vesper, mathis, m, and leiter in afterlife.
Even though she betrayed Bond. Vespers death was the saddest of the bond franchise in my opinion.
Tracy's death in On Her Majesty's Secret Service was brutal as well. They had just gotten married. Both her death and Vesper's were heartbreaking. Vesper dying was the straw that broke the camel's back for Bond.
Yes because he truly loved her.
Spoilers for no time to die

Awesome.
This one scene turned bond into the cold killer he is in the rest of the films
Seeing Bond losing Vesper Lynd was so sad knowing she betrayed him at the last moment.
Yes but she betrayed him for save him 😞
@@julien3331 she betrayed him to save her ex boyfriend
@@JuanVasquez-ph8be at first yes but she asked for the money to be switched to save bond's life instead
Still a traitor tho
This specific scene inspires him to save both Madelaine and Mathilde. Most complicated yet humane Bond, ever.
this feels more heartbreaking after seeing no time to die
A sad ending for Vesper and Bond’s first true love and a sad beginning for Bond becoming the agent we all know
Somewhere in the background Oberhauser is laughing maniacally; it makes sense given what he tells Bond in Spectre
“Or did you think it was mere coincidence that all the women in your life ended up dead? It was me, James. It was always me…the author of your pain.”
The death of Vesper Lynd played by Casino Royale 2006 broke the heart, mind and soul of James Bond played by Daniel Craig and James love for Vesper changed him forever and Vesper loved James so much that she rather die than live with betraying him and it is fact that James has never gotten over Vesper and she was the love of his life and James was the love of Vesper's life too.
Daniel Craig displays so many emotions in such a short time that your heart is as broken as his when it's all over
Hello
Great scene... It's amazing how people have finally gotten to love Craig as Bond. I can still remember when the role was open and people didn't give Daniel Craig a chance, especially me. I had hated the role he played in "Road to Perdition" but here I am saying otherwise...
No time to die did not just blow my mind, but I have finally conceded to the fact that Daniel Craig is the perfect blonde Bond!
Will it also suffice to say that we have a new dOuble Oh 7even, and that she's female?
It doesn't help that this all happened because Christoph Waltz was salty because his daddy didn't take him skiing :/
All because Blofeld has Dr. Evil Syndrome hahaha
With the leaving of PAUL HAGGIS as co-screenwriting the bond movies, something big was lost IMHO.
You can see/and feel it with Spectre and NoTimeToDie. Both film tried to fill with everything but they feel empty inside.
thanks martin for starting bond film. This and Skyfall was masterpiece
He really was fighting for his life and hers, he really loved her
I liked how he used the Omega as a knuckle duster shortly before this clip starts. I guess that counts as 5 straight movies with it being used as a gadget.
The best Bond film ever!... the action... the emotions... in fact one of the best films ever period.
Couldn't agree more. A masterpiece
I think if she had a chance to live with Bond, he would actually quit and settle down with her after a few years.
have you watched the movie?
Casino Royale is the best installment in the whole Bond series.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It’s funny how a Spy movie turned out to be a better love story than most movies which are truly based on love stories.. cough Twilight saga
The most tragic scene of all the Bond films.
He never got over her
Not his wife for most of the entire franchise.
Wow, I watched No Time To Die and Casino Royale again very recently and I still buy Bond and Vesper as true lovers way more than Bond and Madeleine Swann
I know it's only a movie but geez if he did CPR for more than just 15 seconds he might have been able to revive her.
3:06 Best agent but can't even perform a proper CPR.

Amazing scene, I get the feels every time.
I loved that movie and every scene but I never understood how long they were supposed to have been together. Because it feels like mere weeks but they play it as if they’ve fallen in love everlastingly.
The best Bond movie ever made!!!
“I’ve seen diamond cut through harder men” a line from casino royale soundtrack. Perfectly in line with bond status with vesper
The next time you'll see Daniel Craig look so desperate and heartbroken will be in No time to die. Ready your heart for it...😢
Vespers betrayal led to his death eventually due to not being able to trust anyone.
How did not he bring her back to life when she had been out of breath from 1 to 2 minutes? 😮
Eva Green such a great actress, it's like she is not acting but really dying 👏
The adrenaline fight or flight response after CPR says it all. He's ready to attack. I always took the final look he gives Vesper as, I'm all worked up ready to fight but what am I fighting for? The love of my life is already dead. He desperately tries to find that mind body armor he put on so long ago, but it fails him. The look of true vulnerability and world chattering loss.
Will always remain as the best Bond movie for me, followed by Goldeneye and Skyfall. Blame my generation!!!!
One of the first times I actually cried for a James Bond movie
2:13 The most hearbreaking scene💔
bond was manly enough not to cry in this scene
Лучший фильм" Казино Рояль," как Крейг сыграл, нет никого лучше, а эта сцена бесподобна, Веспер стала любовью навсегда.
Vespers death haunts all the other films.
How did the stuntman at 1:31 not die? I'd drown in 2 seconds of jumping in that
You Broke my Heart Vesper Always!
The music from 3:11 to 3:27 really describes this whole situation perfectly
Also, amazing movie. One of my favorites
One of the greatest endings ever just to lead into Quantum of Solace :/
i know.... that was a bad movie.
@@thevoid99 I beg to differ. Quantum of Solace included remnants of his former lover. It ended their story, or so we thought. Hopefully, NTTD continues what was revealed in Spectre.
@@thevoid99 Quantum was not a bad movie....it's just that Casino Royale set the bar very high.

I love this film 10/10 it was not as was to come in Skyfall so casino royale and Skyfall are the best Craig performances
@William Guzman yeah I know vesper dead casino royale by water m dead Skyfall by sliva
@William Guzman I couldn’t agree with you more. We all have our favourite Craig Bond film, usually either Casino Royal or Skyfall & the latter nails it for me. The exploration of the dynamic between M & Bond & her ultimate demise by Silver’s mob was beautiful & emotional.
