I really hope we get a "Making of" these songs like we did for Hardwired
YESSSSS
They will for sure
Same bro
They’ve done that for every album since the black album as far as I can remember.
was just thinking the same, wonder if Kirk and Rob were actually more there this time, arranging and stuff....
This song plays really well live
Edit: Just saw video of the full song live in Amsterdam. Still plays great live. So does Sleepwalk
I didn't care for it at first but now it gets my head nodding so clearly I don't hate it.
Better than the album
That's how this whole album is going to be. They are a live band, and they translate MUCH better in concert than just about anything they've recorded in the studio. Hell, the live set they did at HQ for St. Anger was infinitely better than the actual record. They almost made it a pleasurable experience.
@@davu9027 metallica most power potential version studio.
Sure does
Robert deserves so much credit for his work on this album, I love all the bass incorporated in this album and his backing vocals have gotten so much better over the years
He’s always been an exceptional musician. Infectious Grooves and Suicidal Tendencies is way better than this.
@@DonTheMoron716 he played on Jerry cantrells degradation trip albums and backing vocals
Robert is freaking awesome. He’s a perfect fit for METALLIC
Maybe he spoke up on this record and said "I wanna bring the bass back to the forefront for this band" and since James and Lars are older and wiser I think it paid off. Cuz there's a noticeable shift here. It hasn't been this prevalent since Reload.
I love Robert, I honestly credit him for helping save Metallica after their lowest point in their career during the St. Anger era (I loved St. Anger btw). I think Rob helped them to return to their roots from Death Magnetic forward, I remember hearing that he's responsible for Metallica playing songs live that they haven't played in years like "Call Of Cthulu". Rob is just a down to earth dude, such a loveable personality and he's a freaking beast on the bass! My love for Metallica will never die!
Bloody hell, Hetfield sounds absolutely amazing. New album has great vocals and I was so worried he wouldn't be able to replicate this stuff live but my doubts have been cleared.
Are u alive 😂😂 james will always sounds good bro
@@amineelmabrouki502
"ARE YOU ALIVE ?"
James @ any show you attend. 👍🏻
this works better live then on the actual album
They play it way faster
Live has more giddyupngo
Fax bro when the first song first released I wasn’t feeling it but now it’s like 10 time better
@kylekuzma9801 yeah which makes it more better and I hate the original of the song it's doggo the riff is fine hate thr super long intro lmfao
@@MetalliDay their producer overpolished it tbh. They always either seem to have the scale on one side or the other
that applause at the end gave me goosebumps. they deserve their legendary status
@@minimaluser2132 Genuine question, if you dont like metallica, why are you watching a video of them, let alone taking the time to comment?
I was there at it was truly awesome! These guys are legends! 🙌
xDDDD
@@minimaluser2132if that's less than mediocre then 95% of metal/rock today is trash
Same bro
They look like they are having so much fun playing this
I agree....and James sounds so freaking good....
After playing their classic stuff for over 30 years, I’m sure they look forward to and love playing new material.
@@KCTraynesaw1991 true
Even with a relatively boring crowd too
this song is incredibly fun to play.. i just learned it and it is a head banging song
There's something undeniable about watching them play: they seem to be genuinely enjoying playing together. You can't fake that.
This song is so dope ..... It's so catchy, grabs you by the balls within first 5 seconds. Then you just stay for the entire ride.... Trully a KICKASS Metallica song.... Cant wait to see them live in August!!
"By the balls"😂😂 how heavy metal of you
the Chorus suck... sorry ..the rest of the song is ok!
Where are you seeing them? I'm seeing them live in NJ in August
@Jack Reid whoooaaaa almost as if that’s what you do with the instrument. Crazy thought
@Jack Reid still sounds sick though
Man they still sound so good live. Impressive at their age
Ils ont de beaux restes 💪😊
The drummer sucks
Dude if James had his old voice imagine how much better it would be
😊🥂
@@jaydenkey3921 he sounds fantastic as good as ever.
It sounds much better live, even the solo sounded very good
The solos on all their albums sound so shitty.its been that way for 20 years ...or 3 albums if you wanna calculate it technically like that
But why the Solo cut????? Good Live vibes here, but why the Solo Cut????
@@schlachtbob5124 Probably 'cause the song is too long for TV, and they needed to record the performance again due to a technical problem
@@vinifariaslima They played Master Of Puppets
@@maggoking5747 Yes, they played, but I think the show was running out of time
The mix quality for a live TV show is unbelievably good! The drum sound quality is so clean, you can hear every kick and cymbal. Fantastic job!
Not that Lars uses too many cymbals:) He used his ride cymbal so much (/s) he ditched it... Which is a shame
there was a comment on that shortened version somebody made saying "this will be the live version". they weren't wrong. so hyped for this album
noo way they shortened the solo section too damn, kirk if ur reading this pls give me $1000 to buy a gibson thx big fan
@@antares112 LMAO
I certainly hope not. The long intro is epic as hell and that ending breakdown has to be played live.
Maybe for TV performances but in concert they will definitely play the full version of this song.
@@Kenjames10 i love metallica but... 💤💤💤
fun fact; I was there for the performances for jimmy kimmel and they actually had to replay this song 3-4 times cause there were “technical difficulties”
no complaints here!
Howd u get tickets? I called but they said they were all gone instantly. Did they personally hand them out to people they wanted to?
You were there but you don’t know how many times they had to replay it?
they done goofed huh :P
@@davidschroeder1803 they replayed it I think 2 times but they picked up from random spots in the middle of the song at least once or twice, I wasn’t even paying attention to how many times they kept replaying it lol
They sound MONSTROUS and I LOVE this song live....the group vocals on the word temptation with the half step riff is so heavy and brooding. Hetfield is so passionate on this album.
Absolutely agree; this has been James' best album-performance since (unpopular personal opinion of mine) St Anger... the lyrics seem a lot more focused and meaningful to him!
They seem so fired up to play new music. This is the tightest they've sounded in years. The first 20 shows of the new tour will probably be some of the shows of the last 20 years.
Lol some of the shows. I think that's a safe bet.
One of the songs of all time
This arrangement sounds better IMO than the studio version. It's a little more compact.
Agreed
For the solo don't agree. Relsult very weird.
@@locsbcn Yep, solo was too short, that didn’t work
The Eb tunning makes everything better
@@nikosmj1 True that. Heavier, powerful isn't it?
Love the way James sings “Temptation!”, the emphasis and the mean tone are amazing!
It's from the presidio days before st anger, watch some kind of monster 😎
@@brentruvio6556 no, it's another song
@@user-xs7nt3fu7p I'm saying the origins of that line is from the unreleased presidio stuff
@@brentruvio6556Yeah that was the first thing that came to my mind when I heard it lol
Well he does have Rob backing him up on vocals...
Everytime I hear them live, it never fails to impress. Love it.
Always good to see Kirk bring out Greeny. He obviously just loves this guitar. So great to see such a legendary guitar being actually used by one of my all time heroes instead of being locked away or on display somewhere. Greeny belongs on stage and that is exactly what Kirk is doing.
OMG! Lars did a great job here!!!!
I wonder if he actually practiced during the pandemic. There is no other explanation for me
@@aspinwallx he's fine, stop it
Man THIS is how the recording should have been!! Studio version is a whole 2 minutes longer that doesn't add anything. I hope they continue to play it like this live and maybe release a radio edit that's shorter.
I think it's shorter because they skipped last part a bit, but they also play it a lot faster then the studio album.
And I thought I was going nuts, thx for that.
Here you can notice that Metallica has been, is and always will be a band that makes the difference with their live performances.
God that riff at 3:10 def one of the best things ive heard, who else is listening to 72 seasons on repeat right now 🤘🏽
Listened to it 4 times already
Blasting it in the job site right now at 5 in the morning 🤘🤘
Album is so forgettable.
You'd probably love the riffs on Testament's "Night of the Witch" (2020), especially after the solo at 3:39!
@@bcbitchkkv just heard it, wow insane, ill need to get into them more now 😂, good spot 🤘🏽
That "Temptation!" sounds so wicked!
They slay live no matter where they do it. One of the best live bands to ever do it.
This song really grew on me I love the verse part a lot I’m so happy they did this song live
The mix is so fantastic. Hetfield still sounds sooo great
Thank god they shortened that intro
I like the slow build up in the album version 😟
This is killer! Sounds even better live!
Sup buddy...been a while
@@addrish5408 Hey, man! What are your thoughts on the new album? Check out my thoughts on it. Cheers! 🍻
Incredible band , incredible at their age. There will never be any metal band even close to Metallica now or in the future. God bless
There are a lot that have passed them a long time ago. Love how they opened the gates in the 80s though.
Anybody else get reminded of when they played Unnamed Feeling live? Has similar vibes for their lyric and dark mood yet translate super well to the live audience.
I fuckin love that song
They nailed this song. Really like how it sounds like old metallica.
It is insane that almost all aspects of the band have improved with time. Not sure I've ever heard a metal singer get BETTER with age, but here we are. Love this performance.
I love how good they sound. Sounds better than the album. Again, sound guy deserves a raise & get him to mix their future records 🤘
I love this, and I didn’t like the song when I first heard it. So amazing and inspiring that these guys can still write and play to this level.
i liked every song they released from the new album except for Lux Aeterna. I really like 72 Seasons, the title track.
I actually think it sounds better live than in studio, don't know why. Lux Aeterna clicked for me really well in the album experience, but this one didn't. Great solo though
@@mylovesongs2429 personally think the whole album slaps, especially Inamorata
@@reph_420 Me too!!!
They are such legends. Still rocking and slaying after 40 years!
Great performance! I still listen to that one almost daily. My favorite new song on the album so far is Shadows Follow
Shadows Follow is amazing
We got the same taste bro
Agree shadows follow is an absolute banger I can't stop listening
What a riff it has....Too far gone and Room of Mirrors for are playing non stop
Me too!!!
Such a joy to see them like this, the guys are 60 years old. Metal keeps you healthy 🤘🏻
This is one of their best songs of the 72 seasons album
This is definitely going to be a favorite at live shows.
Love Metallica since 32 years! They're my life!
Absolutely love this!
Going to Montreal this week-end ❤
Am i the only one that looks at that white flying v and remembers when he first played with it live in 1983? God how time flies.
Metallica is one of the best bands out there and when I first listened to this song this gave me goosebumps
Simple song, but still very effective
No
Sometimes less is more.
The RAMONES are VERY effective.
@@avocadocommander yes
@@bfettrules1239 absolutely
It blows my mind that these guys are almost 60 and still rocking this hard
This is why the Eb tunning is the best tunning ever
This song just gets better everytime you hear it, no matter if album version or one of the many live versions.
If anyone in the 80's had asked, "How will Metallica sound 40 years from now?" - Here is your answer.
Damn. That was actually an unbelievable live performance.
They are just an amazing live band. One of the only bands that can keep the energy and sound of the actual record. The sound is fantastic.
Just when you think they can't get any better. Phenomenal! ✨🔥✨
To all the haters, you go for 72 seasons and make a hit record every release see if you can last! Tallica baby and this record is heavy!!
Not sure what the 72 seasons refers to..do you know?..I think this band been rocking for closer to 170 seasons...so Im guessing the 72 doesn't equate to their time together..idk... Although, maybe it has been 72 seasons for the current band members?..again, idk
@@cablanchette1 72 season refers to the first 18 years of a persons life… 18 x 4 (seasons) = 72
@@jayhuang2750 oh... Thank you.. I miss those 72 seasons!
glad you enjoyed the album but just because it's Metallica it doesnt mean it's all good
I love the record but your argument sucks. You don’t have to be a world class musician to have an opinion
3:11 that riff tho 🤘
"Riff!"
This album is gonna be KILLER live! Just imagine the songs being played in a big arena or a stadium.
You guys are simply the greatest.
Cool and catchy song. These guys still have it after all these years.
still one of my favourites off the new album, have no idea why it gets so much hate
because its boring and too long
Because the drums aren't that good. Specially the intro. It's the same for almost all the new songs
I liked that one too!
Reminds me on st anger and that’s not good
@@soundsonic2754 at least st anger was played with more attitude.especially the drums. If you go back and watch Lars,he actually wasstill pretty on top of his drumming back than. But 20 years later and it's clear he only plays when recording or live.he has no clear want or need to play to get better or tighter. And it really wouldn't take that much effort. This isn't a 60 year old dude who just started playing 3 years ago...that's whats so frustrating. Is the dudes been playing for 40 years. Sure he isn't a blast beat mechanical marvel, and he shouldn't be, but for who he is,and what he does, there's no reason he isn't at the top of his game
so powerful and still kickass!!! Metallica forever! endless stream of riff and creativity!!! James hell yeah!!!❤
I can’t get this song out of my head. I literally wake up with it in my head.
Just got home from work and I plan on listening to the whole album this evening! Can’t wait to hear the rest of it!!
You know when Rob starts duck walking, he is into it! This song in this version is kickface! The album version doesn’t compare to this live version. Can’t wait to see it in a stadium.
My favorite song of the album ❤
Can’t believe how good this sounds live. And it’s edited which I feel is a nice touch.
Holy guacamole! I love the sound & energy... this is how I remember Metallica sounding like when they first hit the scene...
Hell yeah!!!
🤘❤️🤘
Best song on the album IMO. It's tough to choose one because their songs are so layered that I find myself liking parts of their songs sometimes even better than some of the parts of my favorite Metallica songs overall.
Das ist eine grosse Lüge. Schon vor dem Asyl-Tsunami 2015 waren 600.000 ausreisepflichtig.
🔥🤟🏼 They rocked the F’ing roof
off 🔥🤟🏼
definetly
These people were lucky to see this classic live for the first time and they didn't even realize until 20 years later
This is such a good song. Classic Metallica but so much more. Wow.
These guys are gonna be famous.

Killer tune, and it sounds even better live.
This album is one you have to listen to a couple of times to appreciate it.
Listening to the album for the first time is it experience I will never forget incredible album very different and unexpected
I love that these guys are kind of going back to the roots and going back to the garage and writing riffs Metallica forever
Love the smaller stage, freakin awesome to see them so up close! And they sound fantastic!
One of the best from the album.
3:09 Riff!
Hetfield calling the shots
Am I the only who actually thinks that's one of the best riffs in the whole album? Which means a lot because I've already listened to it and I can tell you we've got some badass riffs in there.
@@luisd.navarretec.5404 The harmonized riff after the bridge in Shadows Follow is also pretty amazing.
James has been through damn hell and back man. Wow. This is incredible.

Even better live than the album
Have you ever seen them live? They are the best live band of all time
This song hits different live man i love it
Lars really upped his game for this album. The drumming is very strong on these songs.
I wasn't a big fan of Hardwireds drumming and his constant snare use but this is big step up both live and in the studio
You both crazy, Lars drumming on this album is waay more simple than the one in hardwired
@@brunomunoz467 I've been a drummer my whole life and I strongly disagree. The drumming on Hardwired was messy. I don't know what you mean by simple, but "simple" is harder because every mistake becomes obvious. I think this is Lars best work since the Black Album. But the standout on this album is Rob's bass and James's vocals.
Best album
