@Jack Reid If you listen with headphones you can hear that it's Robs voice. Metallica to my knowledge have never used backing tracks while playing at any of their concerts, and I have listened to an embarrassing amount of their gigs. What's more likely is that there is editing after the fact. Whether that's re-recording the backing vocal, editing it in pro tools with tuning or just adding compressors etc to even out the volume. But I am positive that it is Robs voice, not Hetfield. We will find out for sure very soon whether or not he can do it again, when they play it live in a few days. But another issue with the suggestion that it's a backing track... the band needs to play to a click, and Metallica don't play to a click live... and they aren't on a click here either.
Idk why but 72 seasons kind of hangs in my head lol, it’s not only a great song, but the album is damn good in my opinion. The more you listen the more you’re like holy shit that’s really good. Long songs, but hey, that’s Metallica! Someone’s gotta make the longer jams.
@Jack Reid I'm a little skeptical about Rob. I think it's more likely that he was singing live but that they fixed it in post. Not the hardest line to sing though, so it's reasonable to assume he could pull it off... even with his limited vocal ability.
Robert's vocals are fucking awesome on 72seaons, great performance from all! Can't wait to see them live. You can see that they are fired up for the new tour, specially Lars, the man sounds tight.
People are saying his vocals are fake and they are just using a backing track, I don’t think so cause there is a section where there are clearly vocals overlapped in the studio version, but here there aren’t. Rob deserves more for that performance
@@Shredder_games People have always liked to hate on Metallica, just ignore them. If you're as great as Metallica, you will see trolls every now and again.
@@multiestonian lol it has nothing to do with trolls as it does just calling out what's there. lars has lifted his game in his 60's amazing
Yeah for sure. Even looking back at vids from 18-19, he looks thinner so I’m sure he prioritized his heath and fitness. Props to him.

Hetfield has been sounding better and better since Hardwired. So cool to see.
Since James' last cure, I feel his former form.
Whoa! Rob sounds great on the 72 Seasons chorus!
He just opens his mouth, never seen such thing at metallica live.

Definitely a vocal backing track, that's James's backing vocals used from the studio version (+ toned down)
@@tommurrayGTR I think it's Rob's voice but they've definitely been on a click since they came back from the pandemic
