As the spouse of a national guard member who is currently deployed overseas hearing Jon and Sen. Klobucher speak on the challenges these soldiers face fully made me ugly cry. We're not civilians but also not part of the active duty community and sometimes the invisibility feels downright soul crushing. Thank you for spreading the awareness and appreciation.
Wisconsin senator Tammy Baldwin is also in that category. I've contacted her many times and her office has contacted me to ask about certain federal programs where I volunteer. She's good and so is my representative, Mark Pocan. My other senator, Ron Johnson seems to have short tempered people answering the phones. I don't contact him very often.
I love Amy Klobuchar. She is so intelligent and such an active senator. Thank you Jon for interviewing Senator Klobuchar, she articulates any policy or bill so well that anyone understands the issues.
because in the essence, partisanship is stupid. there is no such thing (biologically or objectively) as "party" to be traced. there are only people. with their genuine, diverse histories, opinions and needs. real people who need real representation. Amy rulez. and so do Tim, Jon, Kamala any those who _actually_ work to adress the _actual_ problems and needs of _actual_ existing human beings ❤❤❤❤
Bipartisanship wouldn't be a thing if the opposition was reasonable and acted in good faith. The compromising on most of these things shouldn't be necessary if not for donors and corporate goons putting their collective fingers on the scale against the rest of us all. Bipartisanship is mostly about appealing to the people who are against common sense and honest help for those in need. It's one of the many great jokes thrust upon the people of this nation.
Bipartisanship gave us the repeal of Glass-Steagall which caused the Great Recession a decade later. That was a Republican idea that was included into something else and Democrats accepted it to get something done. Not all Democrats did and knew it was a terrible idea, along with Bernie Sanders of course. We might want things to get done, but we can't work with them on doing sh-t like that and they're 100 times worse now.
I regularly re listen to the speeches that Jon Stewart gave in front of Congress about 9/11 and the PACT Act. I cry like a baby every time, and hold out hope that one day this country might live up to the ideals of us that exist in his mind.
I think there are just some people who don't GAF about power (like Stewart) and just want to help regular folks who are suffering. I mean, it is supposed to be a regular human feeling to want to help people, but I get the feeling that the very powerful or very rich aren't regular humans. In fact, as more and more time goes on, I get the feeling that billionaires are some kind of illness in a person or in a society.

There's a deep bench of moral, moderate, and competent people in the Democratic party. Hopefully, Trump will be defeated, and they will rise to the top over the next 20 years. The Republicans have insured that, after Trump, they have NOTHING but incompetent, narcissistic monsters in their pipeline.

Jon. What an absolutely excellent episode. I've been an admirer of your wit, humor and humanity from the moment you took over the daily show. So glad to see you're feeling better after your bout with Covid. I really enjoyed your conversation with Mark Cuban on this week's daily show, and LOVED the interview with Sen. Klobuchar. To you and the rest of your team, keep up the great work !
one reason I thought Tim Walz was the best choice was that he is more humble where I think some of the others might have just thought of it as a stepping stone to the top. Tim walz seems like a really nice guy who won't upstage her... plus they both have humor which is important especially now when everything is so serious
I saw a video where there were some maga types getting triggered by Walz commenting on white guy tacos. The joy and humor coming from the Dem ticket is really highlighting the brain rot of some people. It's ok to crack a fun joke sometimes!
Loved her twist on the Garison Keillor salutation, "Welcome to Lake Wobegon, where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average."
So glad you’re feeling better, Jon. Keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t develop into Long Covid. I have trusted you in the military space since I learned of your work on the PACT act. As a rather young disabled veteran, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you’ve done and continue to do to represent us when we have not always been well-trained to represent ourselves.
Ha! As someone who's lived in MN for over half their life (the latter 20+ years), seeing Klobuchar dropping a Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon reference out of no where was wonderful.
Pete and Kamala became friends, Kamala and Joe, etc. It seems like about half that crowd of candidates became a crowd of friends who respect each other, which says a lot about all of them.
Joe Biden has not only done great things for this country, and continues to do so, but has served our country for 52 years with integrity and effectiveness. Let us not forget his lifetime achievements.
That's how we got our fiber optic internet a year ago in rural Michigan. It's been a God send since I've been working from home since covid. Thanks to Biden/Harris!!! 💙💙💙💙💙
The interesting dynamic there is that Elon musk's starlink would have been a far cheaper to roll out Than Physical fiber optic cable across such vast areas. But I'm sure Biden saw what Musk was and said no way am I giving that guy any more money. And musk probably said well then I'm going to put my billion dollar thumb on the scale in Trump's favor
@@laughinggas5281 Nope. Satellite internet is terrible and susceptible to weather interference and extremely expensive. My fiber optic internet is super fast, unlimited data, and it's cheaper than the ATT DSL I had which wasn't unlimited and only had 15Mbs download and less than 1Mbs upload. Now I have 800 Mbs download and 200 Mbs upload speeds. Satellite can't compete.
@@laughinggas5281 There's also the issue of the upkeep of starlink, as well as the issue of space debris with extensive numbers of satilites launched into the atmosphere. Additionally, Fiberoptic cable offers by leaps and bounds better service than Starlink could ever dream to. Starlink has its place, but Fiber is the way to go with internet.
@@laughinggas5281 Starlink was certainly an option but it is a mixed bag in terms of reliability, and relies too heavily on environmental conditions for optimal performance. Fiber optic cables are more reliable and provide more consistent data transfer speeds, and they're easier to repair and maintain. And most people are never going to need more than they can provide.
That was cool. So good to hear from honest public servants about the things that are getting done. Still want Jon to run for Senator because the filibusters would be epic.

Can you imagine if we had 638 people who are like Amy (dem or rep) in both halves of congress in terms of their sincerity?!?! What a country we would have
That's almost literally the difference between Republicans and Democrats, one sells out to corporations and lives hypocrisy, the other are Democrats who are truly public servants.
Thanks for bringing up the Afghan Adjustment Act. I did some work with Afghan evacuees who were placed in my state after we pulled out of Afghanistan. These folks gave up everything, some had relatives who were killed by the Taliban and were seriously injured themselves. They were brought to military bases to be processed and waited for months to start their lives in the US, and the process to get work authorization, find housing and employment, and eventually secure their legal status is incredibly difficult. We need to fix a broken system, and fulfill our commitments to those who sacrificed so much for our troops.
Jon - I'm flipping my vote. Don't run for president. I feel like we wouldn't get to hear you twice a week anymore once you won, and I think you accomplish more by inspiring the rest of us.
People really haven't given Biden the credit he deserves. He willingly relinquished power. That is a sign of great character. I think we will look back on that moment as a big one.
Yes, I'm sure he didn't do it, because of the pressure of Pelosi or Obama, or the fact that he would have lost the election. If was only for the country.
Thank you John, for highlighting issues in rural America! Most people don’t understand how much these play into our current political climate. I’ve lived rurally all over the country yet reading White Trash by Nancy Isenberg recently really opened my eyes to the role history plays into todays issues. Highly recommend!
Thank you. I so needed to hear this. Good works being done despite all the crap going on in 'politics'. There are leaders out there that are working for we the people.
Great interview! I'm a Mankato-an moving to a more rural area in Minnesota to teach and internet capabilities are going make a difference for my students and those rural communities. Now if the daycare shortage/cost could be solved next please! I was a Mankato East grad, Mankato West kicked our butts in football during my years, sadly, but we had the better pep band. My best Mankato East/West High school football pep rally memory was our Cougar mascot chasing a guy dressed up as a red crayon because West's mascots are the "Scarlets"😊
Yes-access to affordable, quality daycare in convenient locations is the next major civil rights issue I hope we tackle. The lack of good daycare options particularly limits opportunities for women and derails their careers. Which also prevents them to from fully contributing their intelligence and skills to the economy, and supporting their families to the extent they otherwise could. Parents and children all will benefit if we can make progress on this issue!

Both are supporting genocide. Jon Stewart was threatened
Well, there is the matter of balance, remember? No place is perfect!
This was a great show. You and Senator Klobuchar rocked.
Senator Klobuchar is by far my favorite senator. If only a more of our senators were like her we could really make a difference in this country.
Agree 💯 she's the best, I wish we had a couple just like her here in Indiana
Absolutely agree! Wish we had 2 like her in Texas!
Mine too. She’s incredible.
I prefer senators who don't support genocide.
She has been an incredible senator for us in MN,voting for her again!
"Sometimes, when you fire 80% of your engineers, shit goes haywire."

And he doesn't even have to be a tech genius to figure that out 😂
A nice Nietsche quote by Jon there
❤❤Love it❤❤
@@cbpd89short and to the point.❤
Is the word Sh-t in the dictionary? I’m to tired to look it up😮
I was just in rural Washington, and broadband was being installed. Thank you, Sen Klobuchar!
I just hope everyone there knows who else to thank: the Democratic Party, VP Kamala Harris & President Joe Biden! 💙
You were missed! 🥺 Glad you're back, and especially happy to hear you're feeling better!!!😊
This 👆
Senator Klobachur and Pete Buttigieg are very good and gifted people.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Yes, gifted with lots of money
4 years ago, (& still) I picked them as my ideal President & VP, but Harris & Walz will be good too. I'm from Minnesota & love Tim Walz!
A wonderful conversation! So substantive and jolly! 💙💙
Imagine a politician having an honest straightforward conversation about values, actual work done and being done, and without nasty rhetoric, name calling and fear mongering. Keep up the good work!
Senator Klobuchar will make a fine President in the future!
The remarkable Amy Klobuchar! Simple the best.
Senator Klobuchar is one of the politicians we all should want to support. I voted for her in the previous primary and certainly would have this time given the choice. "Genuine"
I donated to her presidential campaign. She’s so impressive, and she can dish it out to Donald Trump.
I'd love for her to get a cabinet post in the Harris/Walz Whitehouse.
😂😂😂😂 so the fact that she didn't prosecute Derek chavan and other officers that were absolutely horrific in her district that she knew about and this is why she lost her presidency and most of her stuff anyways was when this was found out. So you're forgetting the fact that she's been absolutely horrific to black people and communities. And now that makes it all okay now cuz it's been long enough for you guys
@@birbluv9595she also helped create the toxic police community that murdered George Floyd. She never prosecuted Derek chavan even though he had been in trouble many times in her office
I prefer senators who don't support genocide.
Great show John. No joke Klobuchar is a good woman. Thanks for all you so.
Sen. klobuchar is such a brilliant woman!!
Love Amy Klobuchar! I would have voted for her as president in a heartbeat!
one reason I thought Tim Walz was the best choice was that he is more humble where I think some of the others might have just thought of it as a stepping stone to the top.
They seem to have a great chemistry. I’d like to see that 10 minute “fireside chat” every month. Actually every week 😂
Loved her twist on the Garison Keillor salutation, "Welcome to Lake Wobegon, where all the women are strong, all the men are good-looking, and all the children are above average."
I loved that! 😂 I'm not sure Jon got the reference 😂
That got my eyes misty! And I really love that Internet access is getting such focus, finally.
She’s just wonderful, my mother just loves her. A true patriot.
Wow. Amazing interview with such an awesome Senator! Makes me want to move to MN!!!
Democratic bench is crazy deep with quality players! Senator K is articulate, has character and wisdom.
Ha! As someone who's lived in MN for over half their life (the latter 20+ years), seeing Klobuchar dropping a Garrison Keillor's Lake Wobegon reference out of no where was wonderful.
I wonder if Jon Stewart knew were that quote came from. I certainly did. Garrison Keillor was very anti-trump as well.
its best not to reveal personal information in comments on the internet! people scrape and sell it. That said, me too lmao
It went right by Jon. 😂
The Garrison Keillor quote did go right by Jon. I got it and I am a New Zealander who used to listen to him.
How dare Tim Walz only serve 24 years in the National Guard! Actually, how dare they attack his service!! Disgusting, and it doesn’t fly with anyone.
Even more. He retired after 20 years. Then 9/11 happened, and he signed up for another 4 years, and then retired again. A true patriot!
Also reminds everyone that tRump draft dodged with imaginary bone spurs and never served at all.
@@juresichjI didn't know that one! Thanks!
While supporting a draft dodger nonetheless.
Pete and Kamala became friends, Kamala and Joe, etc. It seems like about half that crowd of candidates became a crowd of friends who respect each other, which says a lot about all of them.
Good, kind people attract good, kind people. ❤
If you think Kamala and Joe are friends, you are delusional. You must believe Obama and Joe are best buds too. Do some research!
@@JillKnappThen you have the other side. Dirt attracts more dirt.
Joe Biden has not only done great things for this country, and continues to do so, but has served our country for 52 years with integrity and effectiveness. Let us not forget his lifetime achievements.
Absolutely! He has been a wonderful President and public servant, besides being an honorable man! 💙
Amen❤
He was AND is dedicated to this country.
Don’t forget the warmongering and questionable racial positions!
That's awesome to hear! 😊🙏
That was cool. So good to hear from honest public servants about the things that are getting done. Still want Jon to run for Senator because the filibusters would be epic.
This is making me appreciate Amy Klobuchar more, and what public service-oriented* senators do, a little more.
*Not Hawley or Tuberville
I have always had a soft spot for Mr Stewart who has a Lithuanian grandpa just like me. Now I see Amy kKobuchar also has a soft spot for Jon. She looked so beautiful as she happily smiled thru the whole interview. And I am not one who notices such things but I could not help noticing that her hair style really suits her.
Great show, great work team !
Thank you Jon, Amy. Well said, love your work ❤✨
Sad to think of my beloved Jon sick! Glad you're feeling better sir and amazing conversation hosted here. Much appreciation.
Can you imagine if we had 638 people who are like Amy (dem or rep) in both halves of congress in terms of their sincerity?!?! What a country we would have
Sounds good! Get a buccal swab, & let’s clone her!
Some legislators are public servants, some are there to serve themselves.
That's almost literally the difference between Republicans and Democrats, one sells out to corporations and lives hypocrisy, the other are Democrats who are truly public servants.
Agree 💯 Senator Amy Klobuchar is awesome, I wish we had something like her in Indiana to represent us instead of the usual greedy right-wing a-holes
I prefer senators who don't support genocide.
The news world is a better place with Jon In it I'm glad you came back mr Stewart
Great interview & always loved Sen Klobuchar 💙
it is VERY good to know that there are some politicians who are focused on veterans issues.
This show is worth watching every week.
Can't say enough good thiongs about this 'interview with Amy Klobachar & Jon Stewart Thank-You... You 2

Jon - I'm flipping my vote. Don't run for president. I feel like we wouldn't get to hear you twice a week anymore once you won, and I think you accomplish more by inspiring the rest of us.
Exactly so
But let's say sometime in the future Jon does run, what an arse kicking that would be to the republican party.

I love Amy Klobuchar. I love Jon Stewart. I am STOKED!
People really haven't given Biden the credit he deserves. He willingly relinquished power. That is a sign of great character. I think we will look back on that moment as a big one.
Totally agree. Biden has served this country his entire life. He deserves all the respect we can give him.

An eye-opening book for sure.
What a great discussion! I've never seen Sen. Klobuchar look so relaxed, upbeat and cheerful!

What a book report she presents here to the class! I feel so much more informed!
Yes, she learned all the Democratic party phrases. Top notch.
I'm actually smiling at the TV these days. It's fabulous 😍.

Impressive to hear such intelligence n awareness of what is going on! Thank you !
Senator Klobuchar has a great sense of humor.
ig that's just how Minnesota politicians are
You can see it in her eyes.
Don’t you just love a politician who is genuinely happy?
