      I agree that this interview was fascinating start to finish. I had never seen her in a long form interview before, and Ezra asked great questions and didn't interrupt her responses. In the The Affordable Care Act discussion she said Obama was with her all the way, despite the fact his inner circle was ready to give up. In Frontline's .." Pelosi's Power" .. they acknowledged that she almost single handedly guided that Bill through Congress despite doubts all around from Schumer, Hoyer, Reid, and, Frontline said, Obama. I think it's logical to view Pelosi as the most consequential Speaker of the House.

    I’m gonna admit that I used to not like Nancy Pelosi, I thought she was too comfortable in her position and not willing to fight for real changes. I also thought some of the insider trading critics were a problem. But this year Nancy Pelosi completely changed my mind and I actually have so much respect for her (not that she needs my respect I’m nobody). Pelosi saw the polling and saw a huge loss coming for the Dems, the people spoke and said they weren’t excited about Joe. Whether she acted to back up our voices or acted for personal reasons at the end of the day she took action and pressured him to drop out and we got what we wanted. She also told Kamala to pick Walz instead of Shapiro, which was shocking because Shapiro is very corporate and center dem and Walz is more progressive. This year will go down in the history books as the year Nancy Pelosi saved America 🇺🇸

    • @TheGeorgeD13
      @TheGeorgeD13 3 місяці тому +11

      Not that shocking if she was reading the polls and listening to what people were saying. People are tired of the corporate dem type that Shapiro is. Pelosi knew that. She prefers her party to win more than having the person she might like more like Shapiro, so pushed for Walz.

    Learning more about Pelosi has given me a greater appreciation for the organizational purpose of leading a party, because at the end of the day someone still needs to have the skill to gather a coalition to actually pass stuff. I think there are a lot of overly-online people who are dismissive of anyone who isn't progressive enough, without following how government actually works.

    I may disagree with quite a lot of Pelosi's stances, but you cannot deny she is good at her job. That's part of why Republicans hate her, is she is a strong whip for her party. Which can be upsetting when she is at odds with what I want the Democratic Party to do but I can see now why she kept getting re-elected to Congress as much as she did.

    Ezra, thank you so much for posing interesting questions in a brief way and letting Pelosi give full answers. Oh, and I think that "intuition" thing is strongly based on her political training at home, essentially doing a lot of bookkeeping for her father. So many people today have no idea what that era's machine politics meant. But she lived it. And she knows how to count, and knows who needs what to survive politically.
