  • Today we're taking look at the brand new EFNOTE flagship, the 7X! It's so new that it hasn't reached stores yet, but I got an early look at it during the NAMM convention. There's also a brand new app called EFNOTE Tools that I'll cover as well.

    Im a music producer (guitarist / bassist) not a drummer, but I love electronic drum kits and tried quite a few. The other day I Tested the Roland VAD 50 right next to a efnote 7. I was quite impressed by the efnote. Everything felt right. Sound, feeling, response, triggering and so on. I prefer it over the VAD. The efnote is a full size birch wood drumset, very sturdy and you can swap pads and go fully acoustic if you want to. Artesia is a company formed by former Roland employees, I think they know what they are doing.

So spending the least amount of money and getting reliability, play ability and good module sounds that will go into the PA left and right. Don't care about looks, just best bang for the buck that does the job. Thanks in advance and love the channel. Definitely the best electronic drum channel out there.

    I had to listen for a few seconds and squeeze my eyes a little to realize it was an e-drum set...!!!! I was 100% convinced it was some system of triggering/micking coupled with a Yamaha kit. Accept some harmonics, it's so close that it scares me :O Also I actually do like to play ghost notes with my fingers sometimes so the fact they've included that is crazzzzzy cuz that's like a circa 1930 technique that jazz drummers used to do a long time ago! The price makes a lot of sense to me, and makes Roland seems like the Apple of e-drums IMHO

    Hey man! Is really good to watch your videos! I am in the market for a good acoustic looking electric drum set. As of right now, would you say this one is the best one on that category? I don't really care that much for module, as I use EZD3 and SPD3. Or would be cheaper to buy a Tama Starclassic Drumset and convert it to Electric? If I buy an acoustic drum to convert, it could be a 6 piece and it would be either Tama Starclarric or a good looking Mapex. Can you help on this situation?

      Weird question but is 17" also available? I'm looking at a weird drum set made of converted marching Ludwig drums and the kick is 17" which I've never seen before, but it's like half the price of a vintage Ludwig and much better construction since they're marching drums, so if the heads are available I'd probably pull the trigger on it!

    Hi, nice review.
    A question:
    is it very noisy? do you think it can create problems for the neighborhood without adequate soundproofing of the room? certainly decoupling the floor using a floating platform solves the problem related to vibrations, but I wonder if this is enough since the mesh skins and rubber cymbals produce a sound that travels through the air as well as transmitted through contact with the floor (which can be solved with the floor floating)

    • @danieljensen2626
      @danieljensen2626 2 роки тому

      E drums are never going to loud enough to be a "neighborhood" problem, but if you're in an apartment they may bother people who share a wall or floor/ceiling with you. But as long as your neighbors aren't really picky it will probably be fine to play during the day even in an apartment, without any soundproofing whatsoever.

    I bought the efnote 7 to replace the ROLAND TD 30 in live shows, unfortunately I could not try it before buying it but I based on the sounds heard in the demonstration videos and I was undecided between EFnote7 or ROLAND TD50, the drums is very nice and solid but I am very disappointed with regards to the sounds (especially snare, toms, ) , which apparently sound good but if heard from a P.A. I don't know how to explain they seem weightless because in my case I should often play on pre-recorded bases and sequences the sounds of this module lack body and do not blend perfectly with the pre-recorded bases, perhaps because a sound compression is missing, however not the I find it suitable for my live use and for now I will still use my ROLAND TD30 module which is perfect the sounds are powerful and full bodied and the EFnote 7 I will use it only for studying .... I think I will resell it ...

  • @sabahoudini

    A question: If you trigger a ghost note with your fingers in stead of a cross stick, does it miss the cross stick completely or do you mean that it just triggers a small ghost note immediately before the cross stick? If it just triggers an extra note but still triggers the cross stick then it's a non issue because that will happen on an acoustic drum as well, you will technically hit the head with your fingers and rattle the buzz wires which sounds similar to a very weak ghost note.

I only use 4 kits and hardly touch any of the settings other than changing out an instrument here and there so I want something simple as I like to just sit down and play and not deal with analysis paralysis. I’m leaning towards this kit for that reason. My one hangup though is not having individual outputs. The VH14s are better, but these are decently close. I think EFNOTE makes the second best hi-hats in the edrum world, and they are much cheaper than the Roland digital ones. But it's like a 6 month wait to even buy a VH14, so they may as well not even exist at the moment.

      @@65Drums I really didn't like the Vh-14's, it still has the same open/close problem that it does not react fast enough when open/close. There's loads of videos explaining the problem which the VH-10's already had. It has to do with the piston

    An 11" and 15" diameter toms? What's wrong with this company? Where are you supposed to to get replacement heads, not many mesh head manufacturers have those oddball sizes.

      Where do you get replacement parts for any company that does something for the first time? The company itself. The 11", 13" and 15" were made for performance sake, not to be different. Much R&D was spent on this, after 20 years at Roland and 2 years aT ATV. We stock 10", 11", 12", 13", 14", 15", 16" and 20" heads so far.

    • @matthewfischer3312

      Performance sake? Come on now. You’re trying to tell us that they are all one inch different from standard sizes for performance? That’s some marketing bs.

    • @ArtesiaProNorthAmerica
      @ArtesiaProNorthAmerica 2 роки тому +10

      @@matthewfischer3312 Not sure where the aggression is coming from but yes, as someone who's been in product development on the kits for two years, it's for performance sake. There is zero logic to it being a "marketing" advantage to ask people to try something different. It's funny how many in the community want something new, until it arrives. Samples were adjusted and rerecorded with different shell depths, different mesh types and thickness were tested, the floor was almost a 16" but 15" felt like the best overall performance with just the right amount of thud for a floor tom. Our engineers are going for sync of ears, hands, feet and eyes to create the experience, regardless of you believing it or not. Can you communicate respectfully to me without putting words in my mouth? if so, Thank you.

    Great review. I think as unforgivably limited the module is I like the raw dry sounds a lot better than the heavily processed and synthesized sounds on my TD-50 X-Upgrade. But I'd rather have too much than not enough. Considering the competition in that price range or even what you could do on your own with a much more cost effective A2E build the inadequate module and cheap wrap are a real deal breaker for me. I'm actually a little disappointed. I was hoping for something better.
