    Hi,
    The output information about EFNOTE modules is incorrect.
    Yes they have L/R out, but the module also have a 3.5 mm jack for headphones that can be used as a independent OUT.
    Inside the preferences, you have a matrix, and you can route the sounds you want through the 4 OUTs.
    I have a EFNOTE 3, and I route the Kick to LEFT, snare to the RIGHT, toms to headphones LEFT and cymbals to headphones RIGHT.
    Keep up the good work 👍🏼

    Very thorough list, very well thought out. I can tell you spent a lot of time on this. I am all edrummed out with gear but if I was in the market for a $3000 kit, man... a tough choice but I think I would t would a toss up between the Efnote and the Yamaha. Enfote gets the nod for the 8 channel USB mode, the Yamaha because I generally like the samples better and the extent of the internal processing.

  • @daltonidaho
    @daltonidaho Рік тому +34

    I don't see why it's so hard to make some larger sized pads and cymbals without the price going into the stratosphere. And the modules sound terrible, the efnote and ATV sound way too dry, the Yamaha and Roland sound fake. Why can't a company just make an approximation of a Toontrack library? There's a niche in the market ready to be filled!

    • @eDrumsInANutshell
      @eDrumsInANutshell Рік тому +8

      Haha. Yeah... 3000 $ Phewww. Exactly my thoughts. I am using Toontrack. I love it!
      AND I started with a 540 € kit now equivalent to 540$.
      Still using the Millenium MPS 850 pads as toms. And a DIY snare....
      I got some links in my profile.
      And I am using the Audiofront eDRUMin10 trigger2MIDI interfaces.
      I am kind of gear addicted...
      But far away from 3000$.
      Using also cheap 3zone 15" Lemon cymbals. Doing their job. One for ... 75$ . Pfff. I grabbed 5 of these. A no-brainer. + a 18" ride. :)
      If that all falls apart I would grab a nice used acoustic kit and a DIY A to E conversion.
      I mean, dude. If you open up a Roland cymbal you got a 20cent piezo as- well.

      @@ianmcnamee1652 So, dude... Why did you spend 2500$ for a module sounding like a 179$ VST? Sorry, I'm exaggerating... 😏
      Of course Toontrack libraries do have their limitations. For example I would appreciate more wire-off samples. Or being able to muffle the drums like I want it to hear...
      Anyway, I love those stories of nice mics and consoles, engineers and studios...
      I gonna stick to my Audiofront modules and Toontrack samples.

    • @eDrumsInANutshell
      @eDrumsInANutshell Рік тому

      Ok, that was bit nasty.
      For the newbies... for the VST software you need a computer and an audiointerface. And you have a more complex(?) learning curve. That's all not necessary for a drum module.

    • @daltonidaho
      @daltonidaho Рік тому +5

      @@ianmcnamee1652 I disagree, Roland's samples just don't sound like real drums to me. I always hear the argument that you have to spend time with the module to get it sounding great. But why? Why not have great sounds out of the box? And the machine gunning drives me insane. Oh and I have a VAD506 so I'm not anti-Roland. If you're satisfied with the TD-50X sounds, great, but for me Roland's sounds are hell.

      I was having the same dilemma and just went with the 27kv1. Killer deal on sweetwater. I got the kit with an extra pdx100 tom and mount, and a free $225 throne all for $700 cheaper than a 27kv2.
      Added pm100 monitor, cy8 cymbal, boom stand, snare stand, dw3500at hat stand, 2 pairs of sticks, trs/trs amp cable, beyer 770 studio headphones all for about $3700. About the price of just a kv2 by itself. 2.0 firmware update will be available soon for everyone.
      I was tempted to go with the vh-14d hats, but I got sooo much more for so much less going with “gen 1”. Not to mention the cy13r on gen 1 is 3 zone and the new gen is not.
      I couldn’t justify getting that much less while spending that much more just to get the “digital” hats that still use analog controls. Same exact module once 2.0 releases to everyone in the next couple weeks.
      Btw, you can get the vh-14d on ebay right now new for $697 instead of the $1149 that Roland is trying to charge if you really want that upgrade.

    Awesome reviews, thanks so much Justin! For viewers that are considering the VAD307 vs. the newer TD-27KV2, I just want to point out that the TD-27KV2 now has the VH-14 hi hat, which is world's better than the VAD307's VH-10 hi hat. High hat on a stand. Two 15" duel zone crash cymbals. An 18" triple zone ride. All the hardware is included, even a bass drum pedal and drum throne. Most reviews said the module is good over all. The reviews are split on the sounds. Some say the sounds in the module suck. Others say with twerking the sounds they can be very good. This is so incredibly subjective that "good" means a million different things. I didn't get much of anything from this other than all kits in this price range have some kind of issue. Then again, he rattled off so much info, as fast as possible, perhaps I missed a piece of information that would've made a difference (standard issues for UA-cam reviews). Veteran professional drummers couldn't give two-sh!ts about having a module that has 5000 sounds (virtually none of which you'll use), or with the ability to post your shedding on UA-cam automatically, or whatever other feature kids today like. We want a 4pc-5pc kit with one or two VERY good sounding high-end sampled kits, and high-end cymbals that feels as close to acoustic drums/cymbals as the industry will currently allow. Seems to me that a LOT of money has to be spent to accomplish this.

    Is a hammer better than a saw or a drill? It depends on what you’re doing. You wouldn’t use a drill to cut a 2x4 and you wouldn’t use a saw to drill holes.
    Is an acoustic kit better than an e-kit? Yes. Yes it’s better. 😂

    A few years ago Justin and Mike Luke got in a heated debate (Well Mike was pissed, Justin kept his cool) over Drum modules vs VST's like Superior drummer etc. Mike argued that VST's made expensive drum modules irrelevant (The Mimic Pro, TD-50) . A ddrum DDTi for example would be sufficient. At the time, I gave the win to Mike. Looking back, I feel like an imbecile. Because something happened along the way. Roland. They made the Digital Pads. Game changer. Even worse, if you don't have a TD-27 or TD-50 you are SOL. None of these other drum Co's, Gewa, AT, EF, Yamaha, Alessis, As of today, can duplicate the Roland Digital ride, Hi-hat or Snare. edrum workshop tried to run these digital pads in the Pearl Mimic pro and failed miserably. Therefore Mike Luke was wrong, and Justin was right. My humble apologies to Justin. Its absolutely amazing what a Roland Digital Snare paired with SD-3 can do !. So in Conclusion, Why would you invest $3k in dinosaurs like EF Note/AT or Yamaha ? PS: Roland should be ashamed of themselves for not supporting digital pad's in the TD-17. Check this link, Edrum workshop is trying to save Co's like EF/AT/Yamaha, looking to duplicate Digital pads in Non Roland modules. ua-cam.com/video/6Hn_ZgEmVbQ/v-deo.htmly

      The TD-17 doesn't have IO to support the digital snare/hat/ride. The TD-27 was launched 2 years later and costs 2 times as much as the TD-17. Nothing to be ashamed of there - they are different levels of modules.

      @@Trottelheimer Sorry, I should've made it clear I was alluding to the Roland TD-17 Gen2 Module that came out this year.

    Millennium make an electronic kit that looks like an acoustic kit for less than $1000!!!! It’s probably poorly made like the Alesis Crimson but it’s still a huge move.
