We only need clever AI software to augment low volume inputs. You'll use standard drum mics (close positioning) and the input will be analysed real time and transformed to a quality drum sound. The inputs will train the software for better accuracy over time whilst playing. This will end the acoustic/electronic debate forever. You won't actually be playing electronic drums. Any sound (be it low volume or not) are transformed into something else. Any sound your mic pics up could be trained and transformed. With AI, I think it's a matter of time. The person building this will be insta rich.

The name Alchem-E is brilliant because the original Zildian cymbals came out of the time of the alchemists who were trying to create gold. A man named Zildian was part of that but discovered in the process, how to make an incredibly flexible metal, which eventually became his own gold mine.

Zildijan is a business, the aim of a business in a proper capitalist system is to make money, and if they feel that the money is in electronic acoustic sounding drums, that’s what they will put out.

I played this kit today. Here are my thoughts. The cymbals are AMAZING. Nothing out there like it. The feel is perfect. The drums are top notch as well, on par with the highest of the highest e-kits out there. The hi-hat still sucks. Zildjian, please figure this out I believe in your team. You need to figure out a way to have nothing between the top and bottom hat and still make it functional. The hi-hat is better than any other e-kit on the market, but it still sucks if you're "barking" (name of the technique) the hi-hat.

@@martydibergi5228 If you are looking to spend 5K on a kit for your granddaughter, I can give you some things to think about before you talk to a sales engineer. PS, I'm from the US, so there may be pricing issues that I am not aware of in Canada.
      1) Where the kit will be: I assume you've already done this, but if you haven't, consider the space for the kit. You need to consider living space, neighbors, other occupants, pets, etc. Also, make sure your granddaughter knows the importance of hearing protection (a good friend of mine already has tinnitus).
      2) Acoustic or electronic. Having played both, I find that acoustic drums offer a more authentic feel, which is crucial if your granddaughter is considering a drumming career. However, I understand that certain spaces may not be suitable for acoustic drums due to their loudness. There are ways to reduce the sound (slap-on mutes, low-volume cymbals, etc.), but it's important that the kit owner occasionally practices with actual acoustic heads and cymbals to maintain the 'real feel '.
      3) Buy a decent-quality drum rug. Many drum equipment uses spikes or spurs to anchor the hardware to the floor. We don't want to damage your granddaughter's home now, and that is how to keep the bass drum from sliding.
      4) Budget: If you plan to buy electronic equipment, the 65drums UA-cam channel is a great place to start your research.
If you have $5K to spend on an acoustic set, and you know for a fact that your granddaughter is passionate about playing the drums, set about 1,000 aside for shells from Tama, Mapex, Pearl, etc. Other costs would include decent hardware: cymbal stands, snare stands, drum thrones (round and flat is the way to go btw,), hi-hat stands, etc. I did not include DW in my list of recommended brands because while DW's premium stuff is definitely reliable, you'll be spending more money than if you were buying the same quality from other brands. And that takes us to the drum pedal. Go with Tama, Gibraltar, Mapex, etc.. Their stuff is priced well.
      5) Cymbals (if you're buying acoustic): From my experience, great-quality cymbals usually cost at least $300 each. The ride cymbal and hi-hats will be the most expensive cymbals. If you are willing to get high-end cymbals for your granddaughter, maybe look at cymbal packs for $1,000+ with four cymbals (they might cost even more). If you see a cymbal pack that offers 12 cymbals for only $1,000, I would be skeptical of the cymbal quality. The bulk of the budget for my kit went into purchasing cymbals. All the established cymbal makers make great cymbals.
I know there is a lot to unpack here, and I have a feeling I forgot some things. It is a great thing you are thinking about for your granddaughter! Hopefully, this helps. Good luck!

I honestly don"t understand why the went all the way and made an entire kit. They have an awesome opportunity to make the best E drum cymbals on the market and they choose to do this instead. Realistic responding and appropriate sized cymbals is what the market really needs and I feel like they are on the right track with these. If they just went all the way and made great triggers they could dominate the E-cymbal market.

Especially since it’s pretty common to not expect your traditional kit to include cymbals, it’s not such a stretch to do the same with an e-kit.

Just went to upgrade the firmware and it froze up on me and is sitting there doing nothing. I have a $6000 display piece in my living room now. Not happy. And Zildjian Support is only available until 5 PM Eastern time which means I need to leave work early tomorrow so that I can call them up and deal with this.

Has anybody noticed the lag on the cymbals when he’s playing? Nothing better than acoustic kits.

    • @vorkap
      @vorkap 7 місяців тому +1

Pretty depressing to note that not many have (his sales pitch worked like a charm). But it's not the lag, it's the articulations and single hits that you can't even hear or distinguish many times, as it's simply not picking them up, and that seems to be the biggest issue. Just listen to the intro on the hi-hat, literally half of the notes are not there. And he knows this very well so he played as few as possible later on, just brushing over them with the sticks mostly, to get them to produce some general sound.

very cool kit. Dont see many selling though. Price is a bit too high for just three cymabls. I know newer tech and what not but for the price tag you can get an ekit with so much more to it. Then to expand this kit with more of their "real like" cymbals will probably cost an arm and a leg too. I think they throw in an extra cymbal or floor tom and it helps sell more. Can go grab the efnote pro 707 for a few grand more. Get 8 extra pieces with it and have a monster of a kit right off the bat. I dont think these "new cymbals" are a huge selling point. Does Zildjian have that many loyal fans to spend this kind of cash on such a small kit? Just my opinion, maybe they will sell thousands of these.

Pretty cool. But to me, a drumset isn't complete unless I have at least 2 crash cymbals. even if they are "digital or electronic". Just doesn't "feel" right otherwise. Just a thought Zildjian, you are first a cymbal company. Hopefully a 3rd crash is offered as a nice add on to the other drum sets at a decent price.

For $7000 you could also get a USA made kit + cymbals + hardware + new heads and still be under the price tag of these. I respect Zildjian ‘s efforts, but this seems like a niche product in an economy where everyone is struggling.

Cymbals have the feel of real cymbals and sound good, but kind of defeat the purpose for me of the e-kit, which is it needs to be quiet for in-home practice purposes. If I want real cymbal sounds, I'll play my acoustic kit. And are the drum sounds sampled or engineered? I think I'll stick with my TD20S pads and Pearl Mimic Pro for my e-kit setup.

Electronic drums will always carry the curse of price vs. justification. For comparison, a 4pc shell pack of decent caliber (Tama Starclassic, Gretsch Brooklyn, etc) plus snare drum, four professional level cymbals, three cymbal stands, hi-hat stand, and bass drum pedal...realistically you could be getting close to $7K, and it's easily possible to go beyond that. These sound and look good, but it's hard to justify spending high four figures on an e-kit, and especially on the V1.
