Get that like button a quick smash - you'll know why if you made it to the end of the video! Also - any feedback on reviews? How can I make them even better in the future?
Quick question, im considering getting a 16-35 gmaster in the near future, also for filming next to photos. Im pretty sure you got one of these, so 1. is the 16-35 any good (im sure it is but yeah, just asking) 2. shall i get this new 35mm for portraits as well even if i have the 16-35? Like, is there more to it than "just" being 1.4 instead of 2.8?
Loved the Review! I didn't have any info that I was looking for that you did not cover!! I think its perfect; Short and too the point! which is what people want... not a 20 minute review video dissecting each and every function/feature! ---- What is your email for business inquiries?
@@torbenmayer It is such a great lens, I love it. But bear in mind it's Heavy AF. I went from the Tamron 17-28 to the 16-35GM and there is a considerable difference. You get what you pay for. :)
@@JoshGudgeon Thanks mate, appreciate your comment. I hate it when lenses are heavy, but that ill have to go through. To bad I don't want to kick the 20mm sigma 1.4 art out of my bag, that weighs in with 1 whole kg, but it's also a good lens. Would've loved to see the rumored 16mm from sony coming this year with 1.4 instead of 1.8 :x
Chris, I love your videos. You have helped me launch my business as a photographer and videographer. It's great that you're doing reviews, but what could you bring to a review that no one else could? For example: what if you actually did a client job with the lens and showed us what difference it makes for that particular project? Or maybe you could explain why a professional would want a prime lens over -- say -- a f2.8 24-70. Why is the prime lens better? Your expertise as someone who runs a business creating things is why I watch your channel; I would love that expertise to play a larger roll in your reviews. and yes, 2:17 is when I, also, pressed "Like".

the section intros on the a typewriter is so cool! on the review side though I think it's a solid laydown of the tradeoffs without getting too technical. it's such a tempting lens! especially on a full frame camera!
Looks sick! Honestly so tough to beat Sigma at those price points though, I recently upgraded to an a7iii and bought Sigma's new 85mm 1.4 and it's a BEAST.
Chris, I sincerely appreciate your content and have for a while. I refer you to many friends who are interested in photography. Keep up the great work man, I’ve got nothing critical to say.
What’s up Chris! You wanted some input so here is mine :) I love the reviews but something I’d also love to see from you is vlogs. Once or twice a week would be awesome! I’ve got that bell on so I know when you post. Keep up the amazing work. It’s always a highlight of my day 🤙
Would you honestly recommend the sigma 35mm f1.4 to people though? Are you not aware Sigma is coming out with a newer shorter 35mm f1.4 similar to their newer 85mm? The old 35/85 sigmas are just the canon lenses with built in MC11s but the new ones have aperture control and are actually true E-mount
Hey Chris great review! The only thing that I can say to add are timestamps to help us know exactly what subject you're on and so it's easier to jump around the video. Also those intro cinematics are 🔥 :)
Are you able to review other camera brands???????? that would be cool. I always recommend our videos to other photographers when they have questions. All of you dope squad boys and lizzie basically taught me how to photography from the first week I got a camera and still today. So, thank you!
Incredible, all Sony 35 1.4 reviews from 15 influencers come out the same day and all are honest :D. Search sony 35 1.4 guys :). Btw I'm a Sony user, but this influencing is really pathetic, it's unfluencing me totally!
Totally agree. You can quickly see that. Unless you do the manual focus. No doubt its a serious issue. May be on sony a 7iv its not bad due to some feature on the camera.
I have a question about the LED lights behind your shelf?. I just bought some from Lowes andI have some pretty nasty flickering when I'm filming. How does one get rid of that. I am shooting on a sony a7iii with a ATOMOS Ninja V. Is their a particular frame rate or CODEC or a particular LED that does not cause flicker. Thanks
Good review but why everyone now slander Zeiss 35. I think it is still very good lens with specific character. Chromatic aberrations can easy repair in LR and can only be seen at 100% zoom. Today you can buy it used for around 800 Euro. I think it is good price.
I’ve literally been thinking about getting a 35 mm lens for my Sony and wasn’t a fan of the Ziess for it’s price and weight compared to the sigma, but I can swallow the price of this GM one 👀 Cheers
Hey Chris not to bring up old wounds but I'd really like to see you do an update vid on your stolen camera bag. How you went about repurchasing new or used gear? Did you borrow it from Lizzie did anybody ever return it? Love your work sad to see this office go but excited about the new home office!
It is important to take in consideration that he is promoting or advertising the new 35mm f1.4 from Sony...if you compare it with the Sigma f1.2 at the same price, you go all the way for Sigma, and he knows it...
Hey man, love the vids. Just bought your lightroom presets and use them primarily for automotive photography for personal use.... wow I love them man! Do you have a video going through editing your photos AFTER applying the presets. I'm fairly new to lightroom, and while the presets alone are amazing, I'd love to understand better how to tweak the photos after applying a preset! Keep up the good content man!
Why no one is comparing to Sigma f1.4 HSM ART ? Same aperture and roughly the same size. Sony is 3 x 3.8" / 76 x 96 mm Sigma is 3.03 x 4.72" / 77 x 120 mm

Those youtubers getting more and more salespeople :D If you really care about weight, get the half-the-budget Sony 35mm 1.8. Compact, light, superb optics and half the cost. People who really need the F1.4 okay, get it. The best in its class for sony, for 95% the F1.8 would do it.

Love that Lens! Definitely going to try to pick one up for my next fashion film!

Amazing review!! It gives me everything I needed to know about the lens and that Sony lens is a beast!
That GM is SICK!!! I need one!

Hau Did You Make The Custom Typewriter Cuts btw?

For film makers, that lens has far too much focus breathing for the price tag, which makes it not a perfect lens.
I wonder if some of the lenses are different, not all reviewers mention this

it doesn't have Haptic feed back on the aperture ring lol! It is a physical click not a simulated click.

Lovely lens
Nice review, I went for the FE 35 1.8 for video, less focus breath and half the price.
I went with the Sony f/1.8 because of a Gerald Undone video saying it was the one to pick before. This lens looks SICK though, might upgrade.
Great! 24mm hoodie reviewing a 35mm. How does it perform compared to the cheaper 1.8 ?

Why not using the Sony 24mm 1.4 GM in crop Mode on a Sony A7R4? Same FOV and the 24mm 1.4 is more versatile.
I was thinking the same thing.
Wonder if the sharpness and over image quality is similar? Hmm ...

Upgrade the 16-35mm f4 to the 2.8 or upgrade the 35mm 1.8 to the GM that's the question?
Why no one is comparing to Sigma f1.4 HSM ART ? Same aperture and roughly the same size.
Sony is 3 x 3.8" / 76 x 96 mm
