I bought the 24-105 f/4 a number of years back. I always thought it was second to the 24-70, but the price is right and the quality is superb. The OSS always astounds me and the minimum focus distance is great. All in all it is one of my favorite lenses as well.

I am surprised you didn't include the 35 1.8. in my experience it has the best overall, it's fast, great quality, almost no focus breathing, never miss the focus, great price, very portable and light.

24-70 covers that focal length and IMO F1.8 vs 2.8 with Sony having incredible low light is not worth having a prime like the 50mm F1.2 which actually is super creamy

@@mondobytes but the price difference is so massive, if someone is just starting out or on a budget, it's a great option to get a 24-105 and a couple of cheaper primes than to get a 24-70 GM

Have g master 24-70 lens was thinking getting this 35 mm next but comments here are saying no sticking with my 24 lens now I know the 24 lens has better blur probably than my 24-70mm
Now I see some like the 50 lens - but I just watched the Sony g master 85 mm looked very special and added way more intimacy the 24-35
but all you professional shooters are what would you go with for shooting video? What would be your next lens? I want a lens where I can go even closer and tighter and being super sharp focus and I wanted to be a G master lens.. Thanks

I keep the 20G, Sigma 24-70, and the 50GM in my bag and I feel I’m set for most situations. I would love to get my hands on the 16-35 or 24-105 to test out, but the next on the list is a telephoto or macro lens. I always appreciate videos of other videographers to see what they’re using.

Hey! Quick question. I was looking into getting the Sigma 24-70 because i keep hearing so many amazing things about it but I’m a little hesitant because it doesnt have any OSS. I have been using an old Contax/Zeiss 35mm lens on my a7iii but good handheld footage is almost impossible to get because of micro jitters. What’s your verdict on shooting handheld with the sigma 24-70mm? I would love to know. Thank you

I've used pretty much 90% sony/tamron/sigma lens on my A73S. If I have to choose only one, I would definitely go with 24/1.4 G Master for video. Super compact for travel and small gimbal. Super good image quality. F1.4 for blurring background, low light and night photography. 24mm is also quite universal for outdoor, indoor and even vlog. I find myself barely use my 35mm 50mm 24-70, 16-35 24-105 for video since I hate exchanging lens and 24mm can do almost 80% of what they did when shooting video. I only carry an 100-400mm when I really need to shoot with telephoto lens.

So glad the algorithm showed me your video! I'm stuck between two of the lenses you reviewed: the 50mm prime and the 24-70mm zoom. I mostly do talking head videos with my 16-35mm, but I want to start to go to homes I list and use them as a studio for ambience. Do you notice a huge difference in bokeh when filming in 4k between the two? I think the 24-70 is more versatile, but the quality on the 50 seems much better.

Armando my good friend. I'm sold on the Sony Fx3 and its native lenses. I currently have a Blackmagic Pocket Pro 6k but it was a nightmare to set up autofocus with lidar on RS3 along with rigging everything together. It was one stressful road block after another that left me wanting to leave cinema. I thought to myself, there had to be a better solution and Sony was it with superior AF and compatibility of RS3 gimbal. Blackmagic really fell behind with a lack of AF feature. Just makes no sense that Sony was able to do it but they could not. Your video was immaculate quality with great video capture of subject and emotion. I am a recording artist that films my own videos and this Sony ecosystem is it.

Awesome video, thanks! I’m between the 24-105 and 24-70. The biggest question I have is, how much better is the 24-70 in extreme low light at 12800 iso? The shot you have in your video with the 24-105 at 12800 iso looks like it already has a lot of practical lights around, but I’m trying to find out if it can hold up with a single led in pitch dark (or moon lit), or if it just won’t cut it compared to the 24-70 2.8.
I can’t find a single video comparing the two in super low light conditions. Thanks!

Tamron 28-200 2.8-5.6 Gem of a video lens. Tack sharp, great AF and pretty much non-existent focus breathing, which a lot of G Master lenses are notorious for.
And no, 28-200 no typo there, you read that zoom range is correct. I'm surprised how little known this lens is and how relatively inexpensive it is. This stays on my a7siii most of the time and I carry 20mm, 35mm and 85mm 1.8 primes to go with it. (20mm and 85 mm exhibits some focus breathing though).
Just get the Tamron 28-200 and thank me later. And you'll be glad you didn't spend thousands more on some of those GM lenses.

As much as I love Sony, and as much as I'd want to use the FX camera's, non of their E-mount lenses suit my ENG needs. What I would need is a lens that has at least 10x optical zoom, powered zoom and focus and if possible the ability to add a zoom grip and focus wheel. I would love to use the FX6 for ENG work but I couldn't do it simply because I'd probably be switching lenses all day. Which is not ideal when you're out and about with presenters and journalists and something can happen at any second. If you have any tips or recommendations, I'd love to hear it! Otherwise I'll have to stick with renting expensive ENG camera's like the PXW-Z750.

It's crazy the 24-105 is so highly regarded for both video and stills. For a huge chunk of people it's the best lens in the ecosystem. Every once and a while I consider selling it to fund the 50GM... but then you ALWAYS immediately end up in a spot where literally no other lens would have got the shot. If my dusty ol baby died I'd order another one same day.

Hi, big fan and you have helped me massively as I was starting out a couple of years ago. If you have time I have a question for you. I have an 85mm and 24mm G Master currently and considering trading in or selling the 24mm for the 24-70mm you demonstrated on this Video. My question is, apart from the aperture slight difference would I lose anything by moving to a zoom with the same starting 24mm? From what you had said here I would say no but just want an expert to confirm. I love my 24mm, but I’m torn on whether to get a 35mm which is that me area I’m missing or go for a zoom lens to give me all options. The 85mm is staying as for portraits it’s unbeatable. Advice would be appreciated thanks !! And man, did you really get messages saying you used a gimbal in that other video, it’s soooo obvious you had someone following you in the reflection :-) Happy new year

Would love to start seeing film makers considered for these high end photography lenses by adding 0.8mm pitch gear teeth on the rings. Even just as an upgrade option from Sony, canon etc

I own 3 GM lenses and love all of them, especcially the bokeh rendering with GM lenses is so nice and clean.
I am excited for the rumored 20-70mm f4 from sony. I mostly miss some mm on the wide end with my 24-70, if the IQ and AF is great this would be one of the best allrounder lenses on the market imo.

Best quality I've found so far, for the Sony e-mount are the Zeis Loxia series... Really great glass! Sharp, good contrast and beautiful color... Haven't tried any of their cinema lenses though. Of course those are all manual lenses, without auto-focus, but at least from the tests I've seen, the Loxia look a little bit better than the Sony FE and G-master series, IMHO

24-105 for video all day long. So convenient. I have all other lenses but mostly reach to 24-105. Not fun changing lenses during the shoot.

Awesome video, i recently subscribed to your channel
I was debating between the Sigma 24-70 and the Sony 24-105, but eventually went with the 24-70 because of the f2.8 and very happy with the Sigma
I think the next one I want to get is the Sigma 14-24

Hi, very nice information, i got a7CII, which lens you prefer ? Do you strongly recommend 24-70 f2.8 GM mark 11 ?

Funny because I own both and I use both. So for my studio I love the Mark 1, the characteristics on that lens is beautiful so for talking heads I prefer it over the MKII. However, when I'm traveling or doing run and gun I like the MKII because of how light weight it is and also the manual aperture control.

Hello! I’m coming from Fuji and considering purchasing the Sony A6700, mostly for its autofocus capabilities. My primary use will be for video, mostly on a gimbal, so I’m trying to decide which lenses to get. I’ve seen videos suggesting that the 16-50mm kit lens is sufficient (even though it’s slightly soft, it seems negligible for video use), while others recommend the Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 (though it lacks stabilization).
How effective is the in-body stabilization (IBIS) of the A6700 with non-stabilized lenses? Does it handle well? Is there a significant crop factor?
I’ve also read good things about the 18-105mm f/4 OSS and the 18-135mm OSS (some say it’s sharper than the 18-105mm). How important is having an f/4 aperture on the A6700 in low-light situations? Up to what ISO can you comfortably push this camera?
What would you recommend: investing in a quality all-rounder lens (like the Sigma 18-50mm or one of the 18-105mm/18-135mm options) or getting the 16-50mm kit lens and adding a brighter prime lens later? Keep in mind that my primary use is video (mostly on a gimbal), but I’d like to have a lens that I can also use handheld when needed.

Hey Armando, thanks, By the way, what is that battery you have under your camera in the first few minutes? It is not in your camera lists on Amazon. I remember you mentioning it a while back but for who makes it? Thanks! PS. I found it in another video but 385.00 is WAY to expensive.

Armando, buen noche, primero quiero felicitarte, realmente admiro tu trabajo.
