Ahhh yes. The elusive orange wire. I'm LS swapping my 88 YJ (originally a 4.2) and thought I was going to have to run a separate fuel pump wire. Turns out I don't. That orange wire actually terminates at the bulkhead connector in cavity B4. Moved a pin that was no longer needed and VOILA....I have power at that 3 pin plug at the sender. Using a 4 cylinder EFI sender modified with a Delphi pump, which has the third wire for pump power. Looks like whoever did your 4.0 swap boogered up the original 4.2 sender and ran their own pump wiring.
Wow thats a lot of info. Join my Discord (link in description) and we can discuss! Haha. Thats all great. I may be diesel swapping so this might not matter at all !
"#4, I didn't do all of those things", that is too funny! Story of most of my car repairs, things always fail when the temp is at it's lowest and you don't have a garage!
This is a good video, but the job is often much harder than it looks. Getting that tank free is a pain. Took two of us to roughhouse it free, and then only after pushing exhaust pipe out or the way. Two man job at a minimum unless you get real lucky.
@@MatHelm Thats fair. Jeep made a typical Jeep move and used this steel tank and the plastic tank from the years 1987-1990. However, for whatever reason, some steel tanks were found in later years. Regardless, plastic is better lol

Yes well said!
Here I am cranking up my woodstove because it’s only 55°f lol, thanks for the vid!
Is it the same procedure on a 96 grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0
I hope so lol. If you do it, come back and let us know!
5 minutres into this video and you have me cracking up.
Gotta love changing fuel pumps in the winter cold of 306 😂 I've been there done that in minus 30 weather suuucks🤘🤘
Yeah I had to go inside and cuss out Canada while I warmed up so I could use my fingers again for 3 minutes. Haha. Thanks for the comment!
I’m looking to buy a dewalt impact wrench to use to drop the fuel tank. Can you recommend one on amazon? Also, do you know what size the bolts are?

How much did this kit cost you?
Looks like an old 15 gallon tank. Definitely swap for 20 gallons.
Lol, lost fart? Haha, got my subscription. Lol. I like your videos. Remind me of my self
I am ashamed of myself after watching you work in that kind of weather! If it's 60 degrees or colder I'm not working on my jeep outside!
Yeah gotta do it sometimes lol
whoa bro that YJ is way too low too the ground how did you even get under there?
Good point!
What size are those bolts?
Thx for the help
Why don't any of you guys SHOW how each line and hose comes off and back on?
Won't load can't watch ?
UA-cam is down for me too right now! (As of 19:00 on 11 Nov).
What kind of bs is going on now.
Why does no one ever list the actual year of their Jeep?
I fixed it! My Jeep is a 1988
@@LostFart Mines a 92, so different...
