hay word of advise on the jeep take the rear inner fender plastic junk out it holds all the junk like mud and will rot the back corners out i had that happen with the 89 that i just picked up.
5:55 All I could think is DON'T DROP THE CAMERA! Haha. This video helped me a lot. Just bought a YJ back in the beginning of December, the fuel gauge hasn't been working (Goes straight to full). Thought it was the gauges, but I replaced them and nothing happened. Heard it could be the sending unit, had no idea what that was, and I just found out from your video! Thanks a lot dude. Nice YJ.
After hearing what i thought sounded like a fart after looking at the front vacuum for the front wheel drive and you so calmly apologized I had to back it up and listen to it again. Then thought yep it was what I thought it was. I finally stopped laughing then had to call my son to listen to it and laughed another few minutes. Don't see that much on UA-cam, but good job on the video I have got to drop my tank on my 88 yj and put in another sending unit and after watching the video does not look to hard. Thanks for posting the video.
yeah you should be able to get a new sending unit with the plug connected to it. Man i can't believe all the rust on that thing. guessing no one believed in undercoating. I don't even live in a place where any of that would be an issue and i am going to get Dura liner sprayed all over the bottom of mine just to make double sure nothing rots or rusts away on it like that because they do sometimes salt the roads here too when it snows
@kissoma wait a sec.... that's why im fixing stuff... so it's not so rusty.... it's the salt in the winter they load onto the roads that destroy metal on the cars here....
Other than the Rust Bill, looks like you got a good deal, how well is the Frame look, from what you have shown in a bit of it in the vids, it looks in pretty good shape, just hope you didnt end up with one like your buddy. too keep the frame from getting any worst, i would have it bead-blasted and powder coated. and plug up the holes. Keep up the good work man, you got a bit of it, but in the long run a 600 dollar beater is always alot of fun in the end. Especially a 4x4 one.
was it just the bolts on the front and back of the gas tank holding it on or was there anything on the side? I'm having a hell of a time getting my tank off.
The only thing in remarkably un-rusted condition was the track bar! The most useless hunk 'o steel on a leaf sprung vehicle, and it's seemingly untouched by rust! XD
There was a vacuum line on your carburetor the has a screw in it, that might help. I just cannot believe the rust that you people have up there and how carefree you feel about it. When they have car wrecks do they just use a broom and sweep up the dust? lol
@billstmaxx Yeah....salt is freaking KILLER on vehicles. I wish there was some sort of way to prevent it from doing so much to my vehicle in the winter.
@billstmaxx I understand that is why you're fixing stuff and love watching your videos. It's the part of about what is too rusty for you to fix? Had I been looking for a Jeep, when I saw the rust up by the windshield, I would had shut the door and walked away and that was before you tugged on the first seat belt. But, just saying, that is me.
@24carWon because he got this one for 600 bucks. Plus its alot more fun fixing the broken stuff on a ugly POS than on a nice looking POS. He is doing the same thing im doing to a 1984 Isuzu Trooper II that i bought for the same price.

Those strap bolts are long so you can thread a nut on before the straps are compressed. As you tighten them, they compress the strap down.

Hey dude, thanks for the video. Laughed myself to tears. You had her in the right place and a tractor to bury her.
Great entertainment! I'll definetly keep it so I can watch it every now and then for a good laugh.
damn. looks like a pain of a tank to remove. most cars ive dropped the tank, 2 bolts and 3 screws, shes out in 5 minutes.
