Joshua, would you ever consider a video where you pick a couple of price points ($300, $500, $700, etc.) and put together a complete FPV setup (drone, controller, goggles, batteries, charger, etc.) if you were brand new today? Thank you for the informative video on the goggles today!
One point I wish you had gone over is the optics of each goggle. As in what adjustments they have for us with weak eye genetics, who require glasses. I myself have the good ol Fatshark HD3s as they were the best goggles at the time I got into this hobby. I really want my next pair of goggles to have adjustments for their optics. Instead of those stupid diopters that aren't ever excatly right and dig into my forehead while I change batteries or props.
Research I did in university some years back showed that the time between a visual input and a resulting action from the hands was about 300msec. This was a sort of whac-a-mole test - in FPV flying, a more complex task - this time will be longer. To put these latency numbers in perspective
@@peter4presidente That’s not true, first off racing pilots have much lower reaction times. Combine that with muscle memory and knowledge of the course and the “feel” of previous inputs and you get a scenario that 20-50 ms makes a massive difference. This same amount of bogus science impacted gaming development because “research shows no significant difference between 60 fps and 100fps” “no discernible difference in image quality after 1440p” etc etc.
The latency numbers for analog and HDZero should be even lower, if a fair comparison to DJI and Walksnail is to be made. The DJI/Walksnail numbers of around 25-35 ms are how long it takes the very first pixel to change on screen. To draw an entire frame is between 8-16ms longer than that. For HDZero and analog, the 14-16 ms number is the whole-frame latency. First-pixel latency for analog and HDZero is between1-3 ms. So a proper (fair) comparison would be to either add 8-16 ms to DJI and Walksnail or subtract about 16 ms from analog and HDZero.
The last sentence confused me: "So a proper (fair) comparison would be to either add 8-16 ms to DJI and HDZero". It should be DJI and Walksnail - correct ? Thanks for this comprehensive guide.
As somebody who mainly flies small quads: HDZero Goggles + Walksnail VRx + Analog VRx is just the most amazing combination you can get. Having all these options in one thing and using/buying whatever quad/VTx you feel like really is great.
I ordered hdzero goggles with analog module but they are not here yet. I ordered the walksnail vrx that showed up but drone wouldn't update elrs firmware to be able to use it lol
HDZero goggles for me. I got the walksnail VRX to try but haven’t taken it out of the box yet. Been too blown away flying nothing but that 90fps HDZero cam. Love what they’re doing and the true fpv community connection
HDZero goggles with 90hz camera. Having the lowest latency possible is the most important to me. It’s like gaming on a high refresh rate display; the smoothness of the motion and connected feel makes the whole experience of performing quick actions much more predictable.
Based on the video quality comparisons... If I valued low latency I'd go analog. That digital sparkle of hdzero looks really bad, and eh penetration when its possible to get higher powered analog makes analog better than hdzero. Imo, anyway. So the question for digital where image quality is preferred over low latency, its dji vs walksnail. ... And thats tough. I wouldnt be able to fly with blurry smudges when mbps goes low for the same reason I disable motion blur in video games; makes it look like soup, which actually gives me a form of motion sickness. So dji for the win? But man... The price and less compatibility makes that a hard sell...
I started FPV around a year before DJI released their digital system. At the time I had the best analog systems and decided to try out the DJI system. (v1 goggles with a quad with a dji air unit). I immediately was stunned by the quality, it was like looking at GoPro footage, but it was a live flight! I could see every branch and blades of grass. Absolutely groundbreaking ,I thought! Unfortunately, during that very first flight I also lost complete interest in this new system. Spots/bushes/tight concrete spaces which were easily flyable with analog (although, sometimes at some spots, with terrible signal) were not flyable at all with the dji video feed. The higher and variable latency made it just way too hard to fly these gaps, and in the bushes it dropped some frames so that the next thing I was my drone is laying on the ground, without me being able to react. With analog, even with the worst signal, i can still make out contours which saved my countless of times. Nowadays, I mainly fly my analog toothpick and leave my dji stuff in the closet. I prefer that much more over the digital experience I had back then. Im sure it got much better tho, but I would probably prefer HDZero over a digital system. Edit: I got HDZero a few weeks ago and its amazing! If youre an analog pilot who wants a better image with the same low latency and responsiveness, I highly recommend HDZero! :)
Hey thanks for the advice, im just getting started but i feel overwhelmed with all the options, if you were me what combo would you go for ? Speaking as in googles + controller etc thanks alot
I fly fpv planes and I have tested analog 1.3ghz, Dji, and walksnail. By far 1.3Ghz for long range is the king, Dji is good to putt around your flying field, walksnail vrx still in development. My walksnail Osd continue to freeze up within 1 km radius.
Thank you ever so much for all that knowledge sharing. So if I resume well, in comparison with OS in computing: DJI = Apple HDZero = Linux WalkSnail = Microsoft Analogue = DOS :)
I realize you don't have the time to help everyone. However I really do need some help I have a very small budget and my health is bad with a short life expectancy. I sent you an email. Titled FPV for the old guy. Take 2. Best wishes to you and your family. Thanx
The biggest thing that is making me chose walksnail over dji is the longevity of it. Walksnail is aiming for their system to be compatible throughout where as dji you mostly need to buy a whole new set every one or two years to be up to date. And walksnail has a 4K unit now (moonlight)
DJI Avata 2 brought the controller 3 and I'm just praying and waiting for them to make the O3 Unit compatible or their O4 Unit to be sold then I can start doing my own builds I have a RM Boxer that I use for just flight Sims but IDK maybe for about $400 I can get everything i need for my first build I wanna spend 250-300 on the build and the rest for battery's and ext get a cheap pair of Analog this way I can get going quickkkk I'm not jerking my chain but im pretty good in Manual with FPV but I need to be able to do some cheap builds so I can push myself to be a better poit and waiting for DJI to send back a crashed Avata 2 dont want to keep doing that.
Your voice is so annoying but you are the only one who brings the heat... you tell it like it is get to the point and have so much information, I hate you and love you at the same time. Thank you man regardless, thank you...!
Thankyou so much for this vid iam a fixed wing flyer and looking to do fpv for the purpose of formation flying so iam thinging the analog system any sugestions whoud be greatly appericated Thanks again REGARDS BILL
I find the breakup from walksnail far easier to fly through than DJI because it doesn't stutter. After flying it for a bit I find it very predictable now provided you don't push it until it completely drops.
I currently fly with the DJI V1 goggles, and I've been wanting to upgrade to something a bit more compact with OLED screens. I don't really have a problem with the video, I'd just like a nicer pair of googles. I only fly freestyle (and usually alone), and I record all of my video on the DJI air unit (my flying isn't good enough to warrant the price of a GoPro). I have also been thinking it would be nice to fly something smaller than 5" from time to time. I waited for all of these new systems to come out so I could compare them, and now that the dust has settled I'm still undecided. I seem to fall right between the cracks of these systems. The closest one would be the HDZero goggles with a Walksnail VRX, but I'd almost never use the HDZero VRX. The DJI goggles are the size and features I want, but the price of the O3 AUs is too high, and not having defogging is pretty annoying. I think I'll keep flying my DJI V1s, and wait for a sale on one of the systems (I bought my DJI V1s at a really good price). I'd also like to leave some time to see if the Walksnail latency on HDZero goggles improves.
I have been flying 75 mm digital whoops with DJI naked Vista in my neighborhood. for many months. So far it beats HDzero and Walksnail hands down in terms of range and penetration. My builds also achieve 5-6 minutes cruising time with 2S 450 mah lipos . It can also rips freestyle pretty well.
THIS is what I have been wanting to know! Glad I didn't blindly jump into this hobby the first time I saw it like I wanted to. I slowed myself down and this helped me so much!
So there IS no definitive answer?! You crafty Sausage! Okay🍿 let's do this Bardwell..🤔🍿Okay, good video, "a shit-load of links" ehh? Is that a metric shit-load? 😁 Enjoy your holiday JB, No stream today so I'll have to spam the comments instead. 🙄
One reason why I prefer the V2 goggles over the goggles 2 is that the V2 goggles have a fan to prevent fogging. To me that a very valuable asset the V2 goggles have.
I only fly DJI v2 and Skyzone cobra X box goggles. DjI for close range and analog for long range. I don’t see the need for anything else but the walksnail VRX combo for my Skyzones are very tempting. HD zero just doesn’t interest me at All 🎉
Amazing summary. Now i know that i want hdzero as a abalog upgrade from rtf kit. But now i need the money to afford 😅. This fpv thing that is exciting me so much is making me broke. 😮
I’m with you 100% on that one Joshua !!!!! I have the V2 goggles and after they came out with the new goggles I wasn’t sure which goggles I had anymore was it V2 the goggles 2 ?????🤔
I still love flying my analog fpv drones, i have dji o3 air unit in another drone and it really is amazing. But something about the way Analog feels when flying it, its like you said, its just not the same even with the lower resolution its still enjoyable to have that instant analog fpv feed. Id love to pick up a set of HDZero goggles soon and try out the 90fps camera. That would probably be my favorite setup when im not looking for the Range of something like DJI or a powerful Analog VTX setup..
Good summary. My decision for me: positive company + fixed, low latency + open source + multiple manufactures + flying next to others + looks awesome in goggles + fun to fly = HDZero. I compromise on image quality and penetration. That was easy.
How in the world did you get so knowledgeable on all this. How long you been doing this hobby, and more importantly how much money have you sank into it? It's so fun to watch, and I've got the bug, but like you said there is levels to this, I'm an ex studio musician and have spent so much money on gear it blows my mind, but I make money with it, so it pays for itself, this however doesn't, and like some things, it doesn't matter as long as you enjoy it enough, what do you recommend the bare bottom bones is to get into this type of hobby. I know about sim flying, and some kits, which I can solder decent but not micro boards without having to buy new tips, anyways, I've watched lots of builds from 5"-3" to different setups so I'm aware of the difficulty. I'm just learning to understand all the variables of everything before I dive in
ok you convinced me O3 and V2 it is.... I still remember the v1 50mpb video where you said - I can see every blade of grass- that video made me buy the v1 you the best Dude- I got free tacos for you if you ever come to California
tl;dr DJI is best overall. Analog for budget and whoops. Personally, I started with and currently use DJI V2, but ordered the HDZero for versatility and open source goodness. Also, while the O3 image is almost as good as a Gopro, it doesn't offer the same versatility of popping it off to use on another setup without a dedicated cam for each (cinewhoop to 5", helmet cam, tripod, etc.); I guess you could technically strap a cinewhoop to a 5" or your helmet... Feels like the cost weight to performance of O3 or GoPro is actually a more meaningfully nuanced decision than which video system to pick. I was kind of hoping this video would have made it more nuanced, but the clear winner is DJI. The vast majority of pilots aren't going to be racing, freestyling, or otherwise at such a level where they may get anything truly meaningful from HDZ or analog latency other than subjective "feels". A few may get some meaningfully more objective benefit from them, but real world it won't matter for most.
I don’t like using analog on my DJI V2’s as I’m spoiled by the quality of my Skyzone Cobra x’s. I do have the analog module just in case but I haven’t used it in months on my DJI goggles 🎉
This is just a random comment, but I really hope walksnail offers a vtx with more than 8 gb DVR (or an SD card slot) and a normal USB connection. I'd accept a few more grams for that.
Congrats for this video Joshua! This is a next level video in terms of quality and information. You are doing a great job producing this kind of media! Thank you from Argentina!
Analog: the best for beginners, long rangers and micro flyers. Mature, cheap, light, high penetration, looks bad. HDZero: best for racers and technical proximity flyers. Not cheap, looks good, very best latency, poor penetration. Still needs further development. It's open source. Walksnail: a DJI wannabe system. Stil needs further development. It's a closed system but it won't lock you in its own ecosystem like DJI. DJI v2: best for cruisers and freestylers. Expensive, high resolution, high penetration but variable latency. Very closed system, planned absolency via their updates. DJI 2: best for cruisers. Even more expensive, best image and penetration but at the expense of higher latency. It's their last version.
It's interesting how different people are in their preferences. I absolutely understand people who care most about latency, ultra maneuverability and choose Analogue for that. For me, image quality and transmission stability is without question the most important thing i care about. So the DJI downsides of being heavy, no back / side compatability, no third party support, really isnt even a con for me. I want to feel as close to "eyeball-quality" as possible when i fly, so there's no other system that even comes close. I dont need very low latency for freestyle tricks, i dont need betaflight HUD features. I just want the best possible image quality when flying. Now, IF someone else developed an equal quality system, that WAS open source and compatible with more things, i'd get that 100%. But so far nobody has managed to do that, at the same price / size.
White sparkles in HDZ are there because the signal is produced on the screen as it has arrived. Any additional processing would increase latency. Perhaps they could have an option to enable additional algorithm with sacrifice of the latency.
So what I get from this is that DJI is the best. Which brings to mind the question I’ve been having since DJI NEO came out. I’ve seen videos about DJI going long 3 km long and then are there videos or at least one where they use the DJI Neo in fob mode and free styling like crazy. My question is is the long distance achievable with the FPV radio controller as well as if it is achievable the freestyle with the RC-N3 included in the Neo combo?? Because I’m thinking buying the DJI neo fly more combo and wait for the leaked Dji budget goggles. Or if it is not possible to combine those… then buy the DJI neo alone, and wait for the budget goggles and combine them with the freestyle FPV radio controller, only if it’s possible to achieve the long distance flight with those two. Did I get it right? Hope I made myself clear. Lol
Silly question here but are there any low profile goggles with a direct input for cameras that you’d recommend? I was hoping the HDzero had an input but according to their customer support it only supports MIPI signals.
Thanks for that overview. But... I know you are into copters only, but videos like that could make also sense to consider the needs (or no-needs) of wing pilots. The whole latencything might be quite different when flying with wings and also depending on style. Wingpilots sometimes fly close proximity, but mostly not.
At the moment: If you have the money: I think the best is to own 2 digital systems: hdzero for 2,5 - 3,5" quads and dji o3 for bigger or equal 3,5" quads.
Thanks for this video. I'm getting interested in FPV because I picked up a sim and have been having fun and want to make the sim a reality, but I don't want to buy the full "ready to fly kits", I want a kit to grow into. The goggles are probably the most confusing portion... it's like choosing Cannon vs Sony, vs Nikon, vs Fuji, etc... So this helped a ton getting all the info I needed :)
I've purchased nearly everything but still waiting on my goggles to ship to start my fpv journey. This video really has me second guessing my avatar goggles x purchase. 😢😢😢
Clarification question. Joshua said DJI FPV Goggles V2 could be used with an analog system as well as a digital system? I have a pair of fat shark transformer SE from like four or five years ago and a little diatone 2.5 drone that I got with it at the time. I haven’t flown it in four years and I’m just starting to get back into FPV. I was looking at upgrading goggles potentially and I wanted to get a 5 inch prebuilt bind and fly, maybe something like a Nazgul that I’ve been seeing a lot of videos about. Would those DJI goggles work with both my existing drone and something new like the Nazgul?
Very good video! You said go analog for low budget, but still have good range/penetration. What analog goggles would you suggest for good range/pen, but still be on a tight budget?( I know skyzones are probably great, but they are $500-600) Thanks!
i really hate how all that turned out ... 2022 you could start with 300€ goggles and now even the same trash goggles cost 500€+ and dji just makes more useless stuff... 500€ do people even realise how much that is JUST FOR GOGGLES THAT ARENT PERFECT??? ...
I've gone for the walksnail system just because of the Caddx VRX 1s package to retrofit my BetaFPV Meteor 85 quad. The picture quality in my Headplay box google was amazing, but they are massive. Luckily I found a set of nearly new Fatshark Dominator HD goggles for about 75% the cost of a new set. I'll sell the VRX on, but keep the VTX and camera.
Thanks for the video Joshua! I loved getting to know a little more about the goggles we have on the market today. I'm starting in the hobby and I'm in doubt between 2 goggles. Emax Transporter 2 HD Walksnail and the FAT SHARK RECON HD HDZero. Which would you recommend?
It's DJI, on capacity and RND alone. The future of FPV as a technological direction will be shaped by DJI and the rest will try to follow, or buy off DJI and remarket a product. Only laws and regulations could stop or alter this path (now built by DJI). Should DJI stop making FPV systems tomorrow, then only second rate systems (available on the market today) will be what we squable and debate over in chats, etc. This of course will have no impact on the jobs of UA-cam influencers ;-), am I right JB?
Love your thorough reviews/tutorials and truthful observations, Joshua! Your IQ is off the charts. I hope you are planning a review/tutorial on how to set-up a third party drone with DJI 03 air unit installed, and using DJI goggles 3 and DJI rc 3. Because that tutorial doesn't seem to exist yet. I have a new Flylens flycal85, and on Betaflight I can't connect my goggles or RC at all. The default settings include no assigned switch for 'arm motors' so I have literally not gotten off the ground yet. Thanks for all you do!
Wanna ask how about analog at goggles v2, is the latency stay high at 35-45 ms or become analog bout 15ms? And as digital performance latency and passthrough which one better between dji 2 and v2?
To the bois and girls flying walksnail goggles, what has been your best combination of antennas? I understand we have three for recieve and one to transmitt, i havent had anyluck with the stock antennas of course;). Tried a plethera of omni’s , landed on all lumineer mini patches. Still only get about 200 yards out at 100’ plus elevation clear line of sight get significant break up…? Setting at 700mw
Can someone donate their experience, please? I'm new to the hobby and buying everything from scratch right now. I see myself flying cinematic and freestyle, so can someone with experience recommend which way to go if: I like the ability to buy crazy high output vtx's for analog. I'm worried about how important seeing details is, and how restrictive flying analog or HD0 is in that regard. It matters to me to have good latency, even if I'll mainly fly cinematic. I know the importance of those seemingly meaningless milliseconds. I have no problem buying a GoPro for good quality recordings, so the O3's quality only matters for me regarding to-goggles video. Being locked to DJI's ecosystem worries me slightly, because once you go in that rabbit hole, any replacement is theirs to price as they will, since they don't allow competition while using their goggles. I'll spend however much necessary, but I don't want to buy 2 goggles.... Yet, and if at all possible. I don't really have any option to try out the different goggles, otherwise that's exactly what I'd have done. All the rest are bonuses to me (RTX bulge on HD0 is only a slight annoyance. I'll deal with no fogging fan on G2, bulky antennas etc...)
I'm really leaning to the dji v2 goggle because of all the abilities it gives. Can it communicate with analog systems with that AV plug in and a adapter? I saw one in another video. What about comfort? Eye relief? Prescription needs? These are big factors as well for goggles I'd think.
Joshua Bardwell... Ok so after 41 minutes of watching I know I want DJI googles now what? What drone is the best for free style and what radio? Why nobody have a video of: "If you want just fly drone FPV and have a lot of fun this is the setup you need...." This googles, this drone this antennas, this radio and this is how you connecting them together. Complete guide for noobs video."
Yeah, don't know why he wouldn't try that, or even mention it. I get the feeling he has something against Walksnail and his 'reviews' aren't really honest.
@@wattage2007 i don’t think so. I believe he just doesn’t use walksnail because he personally prefers dji and already has a lot of Kwads with dji. Also, dji wasn’t used with focus mode either so it’s pretty fair there. The fact that he doesn’t use walksnail makes him a little less aware of the newest features of walksnail. Can’t blame him, he’s probably one of the most objective person in the hobby.
@@baptiste_nonat But that’s the problem, he’s so heavily invested in DJI, he’s not interested in Walksnail and I doubt Caddx gave him any Walksnail stuff to review so he’s probably automatically not a fan because of that. I also hate the way he looks upon fixed wing long-range people as some kind of fringe minority. To the long range community, if you’re after HD video, there can only be Walksnail really. HDZero quality is terrible at range and DJI has set limits.
@@wattage2007 still, he doesn’t long range himself so I can understand him. I don’t do longrange myself and if it’s something I don’t do, I probably won’t think that it important to me. I fly in France and fixed wings is extremely limited because of the laws. And people mostly want penetration testing instead of range. BUT I see your point and it is valid.
@@baptiste_nonat Cheers dude. Nice to have a respectful answer! I’m in the UK by the way and laws are extremely strict here too. They’re also extremely stupid and don’t take common sense into account! Anyway, happy flying 😀
Why does your yard/house look exactly like the map in Liftoff O.o Edit: I'm stupid, the map is literally called Bardwell's yard lmao. It blew my mind before I put them together.
I bought a Skyzone 03O goggles with Sharkbyte module for 200 euro last month and I'm so impressed with how good my analogue looks on the goggles that I havent used the sharkbyte/HDzeo system yet :D
Hi Josh, I bought Betafpv Aquila16 RTF kit, thinking easy to get into fpv without soldering, have no time for building own drone. Enjoyed for a bit. But box goggles not for my terrible eye sight. You do wear glasses, but diff goggles to fly anolog. Could you reckon cheap analog goggles with custom lens compatibility to fly aquila16 please? I realised this is expensive hobby needs lot of money and time.
Why would latency not mean anything if I'm watching this video. I'm a gamer and I know I'd rather have 14 ping than 30 or more 30 is still acceptable but console gaming regularly sees 70 at least and sometimes that's borderline unfair.
Not liking the white sparkles. Walksnail needs a wee bit more maturity in their FW. I'm happy with my rooted V2 for now until I could get the Goggles 2. Thanks for the video JB!
The price of HDZero actually surprised me, pretty close to DJI/Walksnail - not sure why I thought it was cheaper. The breakup starts distressingly close too, JB didn't even get off his property and the video already looked terrible. Different strokes for different folks, but I just can't deal with that DVR video. Walksnail is improving fast from what I've seen. Could be a real contender with a few more FW revisions.
Im just starting with FPV only for the reason that theres digital now (and i finally got some spare time :P) If we where still live in the Analog ages i probably wouldnt start to be honest the googles you only buy once and the urge not to have a gopro makes it allmost equal price wise to analog
I have the goggles v2 I fly a 7” and 2” quad with air 3 unit but I’m trying to get a mobula6 eco i don’t care about the price which goggles and controller should I get
I have the opportunity to buy a pair of used HD02 w/ a TBS fusion unit for ~$400, is it worth it if I plan to just fly analog for now? (Am a complete beginner btw)
@@snippy515 Have a lot of fun! Even though the community slowly fades towards digital analog will not go away anytime soon. Easy to work with, affordable, and in many cases simply good enough.
Joshua, would you ever consider a video where you pick a couple of price points ($300, $500, $700, etc.) and put together a complete FPV setup (drone, controller, goggles, batteries, charger, etc.) if you were brand new today?
Thank you for the informative video on the goggles today!
YES
so much yes
I would like this so much too
You can't do that for anything less than $500, I've tried heh
For 300 you can get a tiny whoop with a cheap controller and a cheap goggle. But the quality won't be that great off course

Just your friendly reminder that at 140kmh (90mph) your quad travels 1.5m in 40ms
Hmm nice fun fact.. thank you
Thank you, I was hoping that he would bring this up
Sometimes I think we should play sims at the highest latency possible.
Research I did in university some years back showed that the time between a visual input and a resulting action from the hands was about 300msec. This was a sort of whac-a-mole test - in FPV flying, a more complex task - this time will be longer. To put these latency numbers in perspective

The DJI/Walksnail numbers of around 25-35 ms are how long it takes the very first pixel to change on screen. To draw an entire frame is between 8-16ms longer than that. HDZero goggles with 90hz camera. Having the lowest latency possible is the most important to me. It’s like gaming on a high refresh rate display; the smoothness of the motion and connected feel makes the whole experience of performing quick actions much more predictable.

If HDZero would have a bit more penetration and picture quality, it would be a no brainer. As of rn, its pretty hard to decide !
Thank you ever so much for all that knowledge sharing. So if I resume well, in comparison with OS in computing:
DJI = Apple
HDZero = Linux
WalkSnail = Microsoft
Analogue = DOS
:)
I realize you don't have the time to help everyone. However I really do need some help I have a very small budget and my health is bad with a short life expectancy. I sent you an email. Titled FPV for the old guy. Take 2. Best wishes to you and your family. Thanx
Yesterday I was looking for a comparison of fpv systems, and today you are releasing a video on this topic. Thank you, you are amazing.
HD zero all the way gonna be my next goggle👌
For real, JB. DJI called the 3rd goggle iteration Google 2 and the second air unit the 03... I wish they would have just gone 03 for the whole system.
The biggest thing that is making me chose walksnail over dji is the longevity of it. Walksnail is aiming for their system to be compatible throughout where as dji you mostly need to buy a whole new set every one or two years to be up to date. And walksnail has a 4K unit now (moonlight)
I feel like ALL goggles are too much expensive for what they offer, not only the DJI one.
ye but they are good quality and you cant get them anywhere else so its just good marketing🤷
Walksnail also has 1080p resolution too Josh.
It looks much better with the current beta fw.
agreed. I think the image quality looks way better than the dji fpv goggles v2 here for sure
Also agree feel like he needs to update firmware it’s great stuff
Unfortunately freestyle on 60fps is pretty hard for me. I don't feel connected to drone at all. On 100fps it's alright.
Coming back into the hobby after a 4 year break, this was of great value to me, so thanks a lot mr. Bardwell!!!
It would be amazing if they where able to use like an ai up scaling or filtering to average the blocky white colors to the neighboring pixels.
Great great video, Joshua. Many thanks to you. Regards to everyone in the FPV community !!❤ ❤❤
Thank you for all you do. You put a lot of work into this channel and I appreciate it.
HDZero all the way, so much versatility and that 90FPS camera (even for freestyle).
For you
Yeah that 90fps cam, such an amazing experience. Feel so connected to the quad it’s incredible
Enjoy your analog looking "HD".
Another V1 user from Australia 2 😮
lets go cheap with analog and then crash some more xD
1:45 When you left your property I was waiting for liftoff to yell at me 🤣🤣
I have been flying 75 mm digital whoops with DJI naked Vista in my neighborhood. for many months.
DJI sounds like Apple vs Android
I'm saving up for Dji O3 and goggles. Probably take me a year or two.
This is such a great video - every system explained in detail to a point where I had no questions left. Thank you!
No fan in goggles 2? Pretty sad.
Goggles 2 have a fan too
@@MadmarxOfficial From my understanding the goggles 2 have a fan for electrical components not for anti fogging.
@@cheechfpv Oh maybe, never had any fog issue with mine tho
I only fly DJI v2 and Skyzone cobra X box goggles. DjI for close range and analog for long range. I don’t see the need for anything else but the walksnail VRX combo for my Skyzones are very tempting. HD zero just doesn’t interest me at All 🎉
Amazing summary. Now i know that i want hdzero as a abalog upgrade from rtf kit. But now i need the money to afford 😅. This fpv thing that is exciting me so much is making me broke. 😮
You saved me probably 3-4 hours worth of googling stuff, thank you for making this video!
Analog and HD Zero on HD Zero goggles and DJI For me. And if I get the itch for Walksnail I can get the the Walksnail vrx. Great time to fly fpv. 😎
Amazing job Joshua! Thanks for always the best and super detailed info!
Buyer's guide
-or do you need new goggles?! 😆
I'm sticking with my DJI V2 and analog adapter. Works with O3 anyway
Works really good with the 03.
I don’t like using analog on my DJI V2’s as I’m spoiled by the quality of my Skyzone Cobra x’s. I do have the analog module just in case but I haven’t used it in months on my DJI goggles 🎉
16:49 Can sign that, looks really like a 500µg hofmann experience 😂👍
The best one is analog because it is paid for and on the quad now.
Minimalist, 1 goggles for all big and micros, DJI V2 still relevant for me.
5-50 ms is about the average ping times in fps shooters , if you gamed on adsl your fine with variable latency 😂😅
White sparkles in HDZ are there because the signal is produced on the screen as it has arrived.
Any additional processing would increase latency. Perhaps they could have an option to enable additional algorithm with sacrifice of the latency.
I have the HDZERO goggles, and I definitely have FOMO with the other digital systems. I really wish I could try them all.
I do not even need goggles or even interested in swapping what i have. But will i watch it with a few cups of tea.. Damn right i will!
"We got DJI at home" - That's Walksnail 🤣🤣
Haha that’s a good one lol 😂
At the moment: If you have the money: I think the best is to own 2 digital systems: hdzero for 2,5 - 3,5" quads and dji o3 for bigger or equal 3,5" quads.
And analog for smaller equal 2,5". 😀
I signed up this week. You certainly deserve it, Joshua. Fantastic channel! I've been a subscriber for a few years now.
Super informative. Excellent thorough explanations. Very, very useful and helpful to the new people getting into fpv. Thanks for the videos.
for proximity freestyle, seeing details clearly can not be understated - ps. things start to get really esoteric beyond 13km ;-)
I've purchased nearly everything but still waiting on my goggles to ship to start my fpv journey. This video really has me second guessing my avatar goggles x purchase. 😢😢😢
Love to see video like this but for controllers and its compatibility with different systems. Great work :)
ELRS wins.
“The psychedelic just kicked in.” 😂
Very good video! You said go analog for low budget, but still have good range/penetration. What analog goggles would you suggest for good range/pen, but still be on a tight budget?( I know skyzones are probably great, but they are $500-600)
Thanks!
i really hate how all that turned out ...
DJI modeled their productnaming after the xbox division from microsoft. .. Xbox, Xbox360, xbox one S, Xbox one X, Xbox series S, xbox series X
Soooo... HDZero..?
I see myself flying cinematic and freestyle, so can someone with experience recommend which way to go if:
I like the ability to buy crazy high output vtx's for analog.
For the break up part, walksnail focus mode works great now and avoids the horrible distortion that was seen there. Definitely worth trying.
Why does your yard/house look exactly like the map in Liftoff O.o
Edit: I'm stupid, the map is literally called Bardwell's yard lmao. It blew my mind before I put them together.
I bought a Skyzone 03O goggles with Sharkbyte module for 200 euro last month and I'm so impressed with how good my analogue looks on the goggles that I havent used the sharkbyte/HDzeo system yet :D
Hi Josh,
I bought Betafpv Aquila16 RTF kit, thinking easy to get into fpv without soldering, have no time for building own drone.
For the break-up videos - where's your VLOS...? I'd love to get into FPV drones, but I want to follow FAA regulations.
Why would latency not mean anything if I'm watching this video. I'm a gamer and I know I'd rather have 14 ping than 30 or more 30 is still acceptable but console gaming regularly sees 70 at least and sometimes that's borderline unfair.
Ppl still using analog in 2023 🤦🏻♂️ No latency in the world would make me fly in such shitty resolution.
Not liking the white sparkles. Walksnail needs a wee bit more maturity in their FW. I'm happy with my rooted V2 for now until I could get the Goggles 2. Thanks for the video JB!
Just to add, Walksnail is attractive as it can fit into microquads. My Geprc Think P16 is one heavy mofo with the Vista. 😅
Love my v2s also won’t be upgrading for ages. Plus my cobra x and WS combo
Not me with a mint in box SharkByte VTX and module feeling like I missed the boat because I haven't flown since 2021
Im just starting with FPV only for the reason that theres digital now (and i finally got some spare time :P)
If we where still live in the Analog ages i probably wouldnt start to be honest
the googles you only buy once and the urge not to have a gopro makes it allmost equal price wise to analog
Sounds like an ok Deal if everything works.
@ Thank you! They're in the mail now :D
@@snippy515 Have a lot of fun! Even though the community slowly fades towards digital analog will not go away anytime soon. Easy to work with, affordable, and in many cases simply good enough.
@ Yeah very true. And maybe one day digital will drop down in price as time continues. But until then, analog is perfect for my needs
