My wife said instead of spending 200bucks on our 7 year old son birthday for a bouncy castle and other crap.. let him choose something he likes from an online store. Now me and my son are getting into FPV and this channel really helpful. Thank you very much. Its gonna cost more than 200 bucks I know.. but quality time with son had no price tag. In case you wondering I'm going to fork out for Liftoff for the training stuff. Not in your video but I have decided to start with Cetus FPV kit. Time to start the training :D
Get the radiomaster Boxer over the TX16S. TX16S is a great radio and incredibly capable. The boxer is just as capable. Way more comfortable to hold and looks better. Also cheaper price point so its a better entry level radio
Totally fair! I prefer to speak only what I truely can stand by and I haven’t owned a Boxer to be able to do so just yet. From what I understand and know, you’re totally correct though
I agree that the boxer is way better than the tx16s. The ELRS is simple to set up, and programming the switches are user-friendly by watching videos on how to set them up. The radio isn't too big or too small. I went from DJI black remote to the Boxer. I still use the Dji Black remote for bnf that you can't get an ELRS receiver onto.
This is the perfect place to start FPV. I am trying to do research on everything but this video has everything in one! This is a very underrated channel and needs more support
I love it when someone with 13.3k subscribers have like 184k views. This shows that the video is really good and people are interested in it. Kudos to you 👏👏👏
I know it's been about six months since this video was released, but I'm thrilled to announce that we've taken your feedback to heart. We've overhauled the tutorial in Liftoff, seamlessly integrating it into the game. Additionally, we've introduced Tryp-sized levels and are on the brink of unveiling a revamped track-path visualization, along with numerous other enhancements. Lastly, I'd like to mention that the base game of Liftoff has never exceeded €20, so a $30 price tag seems a bit steep. Thank you for exploring our simulator and for sharing your invaluable feedback!
@lugusstudios1328 thanks for the changes, my Son and I just started with FPV and the tutorial is nicely done, but I which the other axis would be locked when doing the straight flying. We are playing with XBox controllers and it is quite difficult already. A slider to lower the sensitivity would probably also help.
liftoff has been my “drone outlet” activity for the last year while recovering from injuries that kept me from driving out to the nearest AMA flying field.
I'll add a little advise for new comers Radio selection : When selecting a radio it would be great if you can get your hands on the radio you're interested in. As you can see the RM TX16S is one of the most popular radio in fpv but it's a massive radio. Does size matters? Yes, because you need to be able to comfortably hold and use the radio. If you have medium - small hands the tx16s is not a good choice because you'll have problems finding a good grip and reaching the sticks. The RM Boxer is smaller and full of features likes the tx16s The Jumper T20 is also a great medium sized control that's full of features For smaller hands and if you prefer a game pad controller like a PS or Xbox then the RM Zorro is the best choice If you're on a budget or just want to try fpv without spending a lot of money then the RM pocket is the best choice. Hope that helps!
Hey I just want to set a few things straight here that were brought to my attention by you guys 1. Lift off Simulator does now have a really great interactive beginners course that is of equal epicness to that of my personal favourite DRLs. DRL is still half the price so for beginners I think it’s a better route to take, but it’s entirely up to you 🎉 2. Uncrashed is indeed another simulator to add to the list, I’ve never tested it out as up until a few days ago I didn’t know that it ran on Mac 3. The iflight Nazgul Evoque will not get 10 minutes of flight time with an 1000mAh battery and a GoPro… Instead, with a fresh 1100mah and very cruisy flying the Nazgul would look at getting 5-6 minutes, add a GoPro to that and we would be looking at 4-5 minutes. I still hold by the best drone ever though, it’s an absolute gem Thanks for the help here everyone, can’t wait to see you all around in the community 🎉
I guess its definitely worth it, because Liftoff is a little bit drifty in the flight behavior, and in Uncrashed it feels more realistic. Its perfect for the second simulator, if you need some new maps, where you can fly @@BrodieReed
One thing i never did 5 years ago, was use a SIM. I just went straight out in stabalised mode, went pretty high, switched to acro mode for the feel, and the rest is history...😉
I have to say that velocidrone is a hidden gem for tiny whoop simulation! The tiny whoops is a separate dlc pack, but it has tons of tracks that are fun for tiny whoops! Ive never seen another sim that can do tiny whoops like velocidrone. They're always an afterthought.
I started learning to fly in Liftoff about 3 weeks ago, and I've done about 30 hours on it, and I can now fly a drone! :D I bought a TX16S too, and just got some DJI FPV Googles v2. I still haven't bought a drone, but I reckon I'm ready to try a 3.5" or 5" :)
Had a Nazgul v2 5 with a Gopro 8 and 1500mah pack failsafe at 200 ft. Only 2 arms broke (a 20 dollar fix). It's safe to say if you wish to go for fpv use a good radio link (I switched to expresslrs) and never use frsky beyond 140 ft away. I am considering a digital system. To hold me out I went from an iflight diversity box goggles to a Dominator v3 with a rapid-fire module. Best investment probably ever for analog. Of course, I am not as experienced with this but this setup flew in 15mph wind on the coast!. Something off the shelf (non-racing type) can't due that due to angle limits. Needless to say, I enjoy this video. It packs a lot of information into a tight space.
Stoked to hear you had a good experience with the Nazgul, I’m literally still yet to break any parts of the frame on it 😳 Crazy! Glad you enjoyed and thanks a ton for watching ✌️
Just started with TBS Tango II Pro and Velocidrone. Will probably pick up Liftoff as well. About a week in and the progress comes if you put in the time. General agreement across the community, as far as I could find, is that Velocidrone's physics is the closest to reality. As such, it is the best true simulator/learning sand box. The menus let you tune the sensitivity and angle limits and rates down to beginner levels and then ramp them up as you learn in Angle mode, and then move into Rate mode. Also, Velocidrone does extensive tutorials on their youtube channel; not just beginner how to but advanced maneuvers and techniques.
What i did to get in to fpv is to save up some money and bought me a DJI FPV drone. Super expensive but it gave me a grate experience from the start. Right now, a year later im starting to play on the simulator to get skilled at acro mode and I have bought another cheaper whoop that can go with the dji controller and goggles. So, I have done it backwards from you. Im still waiting for my mobula8 with OS3 to arrive while im learning on the sim.
What i learned from your video, if you want to practice steady like you did outdoors, get yourself 2 drones so that you can always fall back on another drone if something breaks down while you wait for other parts to arrive. Might be expensive but the best way to keep consistency going! Thanks for the video
First controller was BETAFPV it was good but didnt last long enough, 2nd was a Radiomaster pocket elrs reallyreally good budget tx i do recommend, 3rd Jumper T-Lite oh boy this was really hard to setup and not happy with its range also the gimbals feel soo stiff, then my last the my favorite best radio is tx16s although its complicated to setup but finishing the setup is like really worth it had a crossfire external module on it and damn the range didn’t disappoint
There is no need to buy Radiomaster TX16S, of you are a beginner. I bought TX12 MKII ELRS and I'm very satisfied with it, works perfectly for a good price, precise HAL gimbals and it is also much more compact than the bigger brother😉
I got Flysky FS-i6X as a starter radio back in the day for about 35€ from aliexpress. Still works, it came with USB cable so I could use it in simulator. Eventually upgraded to TX16S with ELRS, but that Flysky is still pretty solid for that low price.
From what DRL racers say about the DRL drones they have to use, is that they float like a boat. They are heavy and don't cut corners the same as other drones. Zoe loves it and others had to get used to it. They do have a "street model"
Im totally new to the FPV scene. Looking to fly 'long range', video and photo taking. FPV is very attractive and looks to be a ton of fun. Thanks for sharing your experience, its was a ton of help in deciding which equipment to get. Thank you!
I just got close to *giving up* my years long plan to get into FPV as a hobby and planned expansion into aerial cinematography! 😞 I am a commercial drone pilot, flying for the past 5 years for marketing, real estate, construction and advertising with the Mavic 2 Pro and now M3Pro. However, I always knew that the real piloting skills are to be found with FPV pilots! So, a few days ago, I tried the training module with Liftoff, and I got so frustrated, I am rethinking my plan to learn FPV! I had no throttle control, I always flew up, when I didn't touch the throttle, it just went up and up. I was never able to fly into my 3rd target field. I suck so bad at it!
How recently did you do the training in Liftoff? I just did it a couple weeks ago and it was way better than what you showed. I’m brand new to FPV and I was able to learn it no problem. It was all in game and wasn’t videos in steam. They showed you what to do first and then gave you time to mimic it. They started little by little. You should check it out again.
You're totally right! LiftOff has since updated their beginner's training and it's now looking a whole lot better ✌️ Stoked to hear you learnt no worries with it, welcome to the hobby!
thank you for this man! i just got into FPV about a week ago! got a DJI Avata because i feel like it's a great way to introduce myself into the FPV world (learning in manual mode ofc and clocked in about 20 hours in Liftoff and a few in Uncrashed) but also i can let my girlfriend or my mom fly it in normal mode without worry lol it's fun for the whole family which i love because i like seeing them feel the experience. Already looking into learning how to build my first FPV drone though and although it's intimidating as hell because i never built anything in my life, the community is AMAZINGLY supportive. Cheers and happy flying!
I'm just getting back into it after almost 10 years; back then you HAD to build them yourself and once you have an idea of the flow of power from the battery through the quad it's not so bad. I'd never even owned a soldering iron before I got into it, and was on my fifth build when my Tx throttle went out and I couldn't afford a new one. Here I am, ten years later, and just did my first flight today with the geprc TinyGo rtf that I've had for awhile but was avoiding. The switch that's supposed to be for flight modes seemed to have acro in all three positions and I never got past horizon for fpv; so I spent more time looking for it than flying. Anyhoo, good luck and good flying, may your props not break too often. 😃
Hi, I waited ,searching n searching..then ts16s came outmm, butthen i watched for nearly 3 months.i bought it.not a happy wife now luckily it was around my 55th bday.yay i got it.then i love it beter battery a led light for the gimbals !it was great.make this short wish i bought the boxer with elrs1w! that didnt exist a the time. thanx for sharing !!
Hey everyone! I just wanted to recommend the radio master pocket as a great beginner controller as well, a little mor budget than the tx16s. I bought it at the start, and it still works for sims and irl a year and ah half later!
Regarding the simulators, I like Liftoff, I was basically learning how to fly on it but I recently bought TRYP and yes, graphics is very very demanding, so I had to tune the settings a lot to have 60FPS in 4K, so the flying is fluent and not stuttery but then it feels almost like a real drone, much better physics and they are even incorporated Betaflight PID loop in it!! This simulator has a huge potential to be almost perfect simulator over the time...
Hi Brodie...first, excellent edit in this video (Very engaging and entertaining). Regarding the Radio Controller, glad your enjoying the RadioMaster TX16S...but when it comes to SIZE, that's why I went with the TBS Tango 2. It fits in my FPV bag with all my other gear. Personally, it just works for me better than the larger controllers and if I'm perfectly honest I was sometimes hitting the larger flip switches on the bigger controllers. The TBS Tango2 doesn't have those flip switches and it just feels better in my hands. Your 100% right that for the type of flying it's seems your doing the iFlight Nazgul Evoque is the way to go (Have that one myself and love it). Beat her up pretty good the other day and just had to replace the props...and she's back in the air. Nice job on the video!
I use the uncrashed simulator and can only recommend it. Nice maps and racing. I would always start out with freestyle even if someone wants to end up doing something else. The risk of losing the whole Quad while flying long range or diving is really high as a beginner.
great motivation-video!!! i felt "suddenly" much saver in the sky, so there was a jump...however that worked...i am definitely not on you level...but who knows...your video is really MOTIVATING
Wait. It's 'a thing' that sticks can start twitching after an hour or two?! No wonder the budget RTFs (quads and helos) I've had over the years started developing issues a few packs in and generally became uncontrollable and started consuming repair parts. I just assumed what few skills I had developed were regressing. This is making sense and I would have no good feedback it was happening.
Great video, thanks, it is helping me a lot in my first steps. Small comment on personal experience with simulators, is that it was very easy to get freerider working with my bluetooth gamepad and cardboard vr. Really inexpensive and fun way to start ( I don't own a fpv radio controller yet)
After you hit hard for a month, you should take a couple of weeks where you don't fly at all. You have to give yourself time to integrate all of the practice. Then when you come back, after a week or so, you should find you're on a different level.
I am considering a DJI fpv 3 controller for my brother because he has the DJI Avata 2 is this a good choice or should I save up for a different controller.
i will agree that the evoque is an amazing drone, but one thing i dont like about it is the sideplates make it kinda anoying to repair the drone because its more stuff to disassemble
That’s fair enough! I’ve swapped the stack entirely in mine and I think that after taking the top plate off the two side plates come out pretty easy. I also love the protection from dirt etc from getting inside!
i compleately get behind that, i just found it to be anoying at times and just more weight for the drone :/ i have now switched to building my own (i can deffo recomend it, it might seem scary but its so fun)
I have removed the back handle from the controller, and it feels much more compact, tbh. I want to buy a radiomaster's foldable handle with the AG01 gimballs.
I have the EMAX tiny hawk 2 freestyle beginner kit and I replaced the controller for the beta FPV controller and I fly almost every day for the past year and my gimbals are completely fine are you sure that they weren’t just glitching when you were playing the sim or were they actually glitching when you were flying irl
That’s epic to hear! I believe they have made some changes to the gimbals since I owned it, but at the time it was truely twitching while flying as well sadly. Enjoy!
I fly the Nagul as well but instead of the TX16s I went for the boxer ELRS. Very similar to the TX16 in functionality but smaller. The TX16s is just a monster, and have no need for that. Still a pig to set up though
Radiomaster pocket. Literally all you need, its got elrs, and its high quality and only 80$. If 40ish km isnt enough range from the 250 mw transmitter you can buy a stronger one that you just plug in the back. No beginner should spend 400$ dollars on a controller thats just stupid.
The price is definitely a bit of a barrier for me, but I plan to buy a controller then practice in the simulator until I can gather the funds to buy the rest :)
Any info or advice on the iFlight Commando 8? Looking to get my first controller and I got recommended this specific one! Would love to hear your thoughts!
Haha, the 10 minute flight with 1100mAh 6S on Nazgul with GoPro is a straight up lie. You will never get that much flight time. Maybe without the GoPro and only hovering it, and even that I higly doubt it.
Yeah you know what, I take 100% accountability for what I said and honestly forgot that part was in the video. (This is a compilation of older videos pieced together to help newbies) however also want to note that it was never an intentional lie, at the time of filming I made an estimate without timing it and I agree, it was well off, I’ll make a pinned comment to correct this part. For reference and to correct myself, with a fresh 1100mah and very cruisy flying the Nazgul would look at getting 5-6 minutes, add a GoPro to that and we would be looking at 4-5 minutes. I still hold by the best drone ever though, it’s an absolute gem ✌️
My wife said instead of spending 200bucks on our 7 year old son birthday for a bouncy castle and other crap.. let him choose something he likes from an online store. It’s fun!
obczaj Joshua Bardwell, swietnie tlumaczy i jego filmy sa turbo pomocne, tymbardziej kiedy zaczynasz
The Cetus FPV kit is really kice great choice i have alot of fun with mine
Cetus fpv best choice to start
gotta push through if you get to a roadblock it took me 2 years and now I am barely in the hobby hahah
@BrodieReed I have both of them. I plan on using the boxer more for quads and fpv and the tx16s for line of sight stuff
I have the Boxer and love it. It does everything I need, fits better and is cheaper. Win Win Win!
I bought a TX 12ii and a Cetus X RTF kit with the beta FC. Hoping the better controller along with the RTF kit is a good place to start.
This is the perfect place to start FPV. I am trying to do research on everything but this video has everything in one! This is a very underrated channel and needs more support

Most underrated FPV channel on youtube! Keep it up brother
Thanks homie ✌️ Will continue to indeed
I'll add a little advise for new comers
Radio selection :
When selecting a radio it would be great if you can get your hands on the radio you're interested in.
The RM Boxer is smaller and full of features likes the tx16s
The Jumper T20 is also a great medium sized control that's full of features
For smaller hands and if you prefer a game pad controller like a PS or Xbox then the RM Zorro is the best choice
If you're on a budget or just want to try fpv without spending a lot of money then the RM pocket is the best choice.
Hope that helps!
Hey I just want to set a few things straight here that were brought to my attention by you guys

Oh shoot, that’s epic then, last time I checked up on it it was a PC only game, looks like I’ll need to take a deep dive into it and have a look
I guess its definitely worth it, because Liftoff is a little bit drifty in the flight behavior, and in Uncrashed it feels more realistic. Its perfect for the second simulator, if you need some new maps, where you can fly @@BrodieReed
Awesome to hear then, I’m all for testing out new stuff haha
I have it on m1 Mac. I prefer it compared to drl and liftoff
If your motors are getting hot, you might want to check you PID tune. To much D can make the motors heat up quickly.
i just started fpv and i got the radiomaster pocket and its amazing

What could possibly go wrong? :) Have fun!

Started a few months back en made some of these mistakes already. But still having alot of fun.

That radiomaster in the luminier version is expensive BUT it's made of metal and some of the materials. Good for years to come.
Im totally new to the FPV scene. Looking to fly 'long range', video and photo taking. FPV is very attractive and looks to be a ton of fun. Thanks for sharing your experience, its was a ton of help in deciding which equipment to get. Thank you!

One of the most helpful video I have seen as a new piolet. Thanks
Awesome, stoked to be of help!
@@BrodieReed Do you think you could do a beta FPV walk through? on how to link/setup your drones?
I have the Betafpv Aquila 16 kit i think it‘s a very good starter back but now i need to upgrade.
Neck strap to hold transmitter is a great thing to hold for pinching sticks.
BMS Thomas has one of the most going up in pitch towards the end of every sentence type of voice I've ever heard..!
You're so dedicated 😂I love it!
I have the radiomaster Zorro and I absolutely love it
absolutely loved the energy in this video! keep it up!
Thanks for this bro. Greetings from Jamaica. I’m just starting with a 5in. Bought uncashed - not one that you mentioned but I hope it will make sense.
Haven't been able to try uncrashed yet, but have heard great things about it ✌️
I use the uncrashed simulator and can only recommend it. Nice maps and racing. I would always start out with freestyle even if someone wants to end up doing something else. The risk of losing the whole Quad while flying long range or diving is really high as a beginner.
Tbs tango 2 is amazing for a good controller and it's small.
You didn't mention Uncrashed. This is the simulator that I have learned the most from. Thank you Austin Crawford MSA.
Amazing video brother! Great work! Most important section with the best advice @55:30
Nice to see how you went through your own journey!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Was hoping to see more on choosing between the digital video systems more
'B' Roll and reaction-shot heaven....
Lmfao have at it 😂
great motivation-video!!!
i felt "suddenly" much saver in the sky, so there was a jump...however that worked...i am definitely not on you level...but who knows...your video is really MOTIVATING
I'm still using my Taranis QX7 that I bought used for 70eur. It's a great controller, never had any issues. No need to spend 420 for it.
hes into meth now, he said eff fpv
tried DRL, Tryp, and Uncrashed. Enjoyed Uncrashed the most
Would love to try uncrashed if I could haha
Underrated channel
Appreciate it ✌️
I have the TX16S, and it is a little large. The Boxer is what I would buy now.
Velocidrone graphics ruin it from the get go. Lyftoff is #1 by farrrr with TRYP being on the up & coming list 💯💯 Nice vid bro.
put that on your babies daddy
I went with the BetaFPV LiteRadio 3 Pro - ELRS radio transmitter and I never looked back.
Nice video btw!
Oh absolutely man, building is a TON of fun!
I didn't expect much of this video, but wow it was good. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Enjoy!
Im buying my first drone tonight so thx
Awesome, what drone are you buying?
???
Trying to use lift off as a beginner but just carnt get to grips with controling the drone on an xbox pad may have to invest in a remote first.
put that on your babies daddy
Tango 2 Pro is hands down the best in my opinion
That's funny. I bought the light radio 3 and then gimple went out on me too and I had to buy a new one but I return the broken gimbal
thx for this work . its very helpful .. 👍
Happy to help!!
liftoff actually has a great tutorial thats interactive 🤔 great video btw 🤗
Good to know! Thanks for watching ✌️
I fly the Nagul as well but instead of the TX16s I went for the boxer ELRS. Very similar to the TX16 in functionality but smaller. The TX16s is just a monster, and have no need for that. Still a pig to set up though
Great video! Thank you! Curious on what bag you use to store your fpv gear. Thanks!
Big fan from Tamil Nadu ❤
Big appreciation right back to ya ✌️
How does FPV Logic compare to Liftoff?
Training and been consistent !
I think there is a bunch of people who can tell you for now - radiomaster pocket or zorro. My is pocket. Nice and small - Hall
what is the best fpv controller for simulator
laying on the ground to work on quads is a great idea
I think breaking up the interviews with clips of flying would have been a nice touch. Just to break up the monotony and keep interest
Appreciate the feedback!
Uncrashed is a really good sim
I subbed because you said niche correctly
Great video. But what about a specific path to get started?
This will give you just that: ua-cam.com/video/DQ9yNG17aMc/v-deo.html
try meth that'll make you fly
Is there any reason why you don't use a protective/underwater cases on your Go-pros? just seems like it would help protect them in a hard crash
What about uncrashed sim?
Haven't personally tried it as I don't have a PC unfortunately
Brother, your gonna make it in youtube if this is the kinda video quality you make at 4k subscribes. Keep it up man.👍👍
Let's goooo, legend ✌️
Good small controller radiomaster pocket with elrs
Commenting now, I'm going to be great at FPV freestyle.. mark my words.
The price is definitely a bit of a barrier for me, but I plan to buy a controller then practice in the simulator until I can gather the funds to buy the rest :)
Love the challenges homie
Enjoyed that mate
Any info or advice on the iFlight Commando 8? Looking to get my first controller and I got recommended this specific one! Would love to hear your thoughts!
got about 80 hours on the sim, is that enough?
Haha more than 😂
Just started now!
got abt 200 hours
Can I directly connect (binding) my Futaba 8FG sbus controller to ExpressLR receiver?
Amazon now has that controller for $209.99 - free one day shipping..
well presented story, well done for the effort
Glad you enjoyed it!
I got 20min from a 6s 18650 pack. Maybe I'll try a 21700 pack. Just thought it's too heavy for a 5"
maybe you should try meth, it makes you fly just as much. he told me to give you this advice
Interesting journey!
I was about to comment this. Glad you got it straightened out. A
1100 lipo will get you maybe 4-5min
Where abouts you based in nz...im just a newbee n would like to learn more from u..im in auckland
