I really like how your screen is not hung too high. I feel like most people hang their screens all the way up to the ceiling. This past year I lowered my screen by like 4-5" and installed a 9' black velvet wrapped acoustic panel on my ceiling. Biggest upgrade I have ever done by far. It enhanced the contrast and the sound quality. Good stuff man.
We all have different budgets when it comes to this hobby (and lets face it all of us absolutely love our gear for what it is - until we get better stuff lol)) but tbh the most impressive thing Shane is how much thinking, planning and diy has gone into what youve put together. Really excellent effort. It must be great to sit back with a quiet adult bevo now and take it all in! 🍻
Shane, in my opinion, you have one of the most amazing home theaters I have ever seen, and I say that also because you put incredible work and effort into getting proper separation and good speaker timber match. I have not seen too many who make use of a full 12.6.6 Dolby Atmos/DTS-X setup! Wow. Really cool! Great job. I bet it sounds beyond amazing and lifelike.
This is breathless...my mouth remained open from start to finish...I was actually breathless for some time watching this....do share your acoustic story also...awesome
Ahh…. Thanks Shane for answering my question about multiple side surrounds in the video. Heheh!! Great content as always my man and looking forward to more to enjoy. 👍🏾
Wow! Got it built fast! Seems not too long ago you were talking to Matt Poes about the floors and walls. Great job, one of the best home theaters I've seen.
@@dmdane it's actually not sand. The particles are much bigger than sand. RBH calls it "G.A.D.S. (granular acoustic damping system)." The granules serve three purposes: they add mass to the cabinet so it doesn't move but the driver does, it firms up the cabinet walls making them inert so they don't color the sound of the speaker with vibrations, and finally the space that holds the granules is open to the rest of the cabinet with an acoustically transparent barrier so sound waves can enter the granule cavities and get absorbed into the spaces between the the granules. So, mass loading the cabinet, firming up the cabinet walls and absorbing internal sound waves.
Great vid, Shane. Would love to see you jump into the DIY world of subwoofers. I imagine it would be the most affordable way to get into Waveforming. Keep up the good work.
Really digging the screen wall and LED strip lighting. The screen wall execution is very nice, too. Can’t wait to see how the wave forming works out! Also, I went the DIY sub route thanks to Jiles (two 18” mini-Martys with Ultimaxes). The building experience was great. The performance is killer!! lol
That Roomie Remote looks legit. Thats exactly how I see the future of universal control. Full tablet control including selecting what you want to watch, play/pause and scrubbing. Just seems so much more efficient than a hard button remote. Think Im going to play around with it a bit and see if I can make it work for my theater.
Such a clean looking theater. You really did well with the two tone wall colour scheme. Those COB led strips will be my next purchase now. You and Hatoraid Cowboy really got it!
Congrats on the new theater! It looks awesome! I hope you get lots of joy out of it. I would love to see some REW graphs of the measurements at the seats and your overall assessment of the how it sounds now.
Great Job!!!! I gave you a standing ovation at the end of your video. I'm in the middle of building my room and I think I'll steal some of your ideas. I'm still debating 16:9 or 2.40:1 but I just might follow your lead on this.
Nice job Shane! Yes, go DIY on additional subwoofers, personally I don't use any commercially built speakers, I do all the speakers DIY. Of course I've been building my own speakers for about 50 years and it's hard to change old habits🙂 I need to check out that remote app you're using, easy of use is currently the biggest issue I have in my theater. I have the new Sofabatan and I think once I get it all set up it may work fine but my plan was to ultimately use Home Assistant. The app you're using however looks like it might work really well for me. I'm glad you mentioned there is no issue with the dispersion on your 2-way height speakers. I'm working on ideas for Atmos and I'm considering a 3-way design using two 6.5" drivers, a 2" Dome mid, and possibly a small AMT or maybe just a small dome tweeter. The 2" dome mid would allow a crossover in the 700 ~ 800 Hz range and would provide a nice dispersion compared to something like the Dayton Reference 1" dome tweeter crossed closer to 1500 Hz. I suspect the ribbons in yours is crossed higher higher than 1500 however and you haven't experienced any issue with it. So I might go the two way route, although I have a bunch of those Dayton 2" domes in inventory so I don't know, maybe I'll still use them. Great theater tour, you have an amazing setup!
Initially I was like woahh at costs but the when it's your job and your passion it's no different than dropping 150k on BMW M series as an example. Good on you. Amazing set up
Damnit Shane! After watching this video, now I don't want my 7.2.4 theater room anymore. Lol. I want my theater room to be like yours when it grows up. 🤩
This is finally the theater that Shane Lee deserved all along. Used all of the spare change leftover from the home purchase to create this amazing theater❤
Excellent work, Shane! I really like what you did in the room, and especially how clean that front wall is with that giant screen and those snuggly fitting fabric panels that surround it. Personally, I don't like seeing speakers in a room, but the way you have your side and back surrounds fitting nicely within the black acoustic panels, I think it looks really good! I do feel like you have way too many speakers in the room, but I'm sure it sounds amazing! Overall I give the room a 9.4/10
Really cool to see what you’ve done. I was surprised to see the PSA2112. I remember how some felt your review of it was less than complimentary. I thought it was fair and was not a bad review.
Stunning stuff. Truly blown away by your Dolby home theater. I think the only thing you probably didn't talk about it is the front and back row viewing distance from the screen.
Very impressive! I think you're set for now. I'm more of a movie palace kind of guy, so I do miss the old Theo Kalomirakis set ups from back in the day, but that doesn't take away from the appeal or practicality of these dark, high-tech/computer-closet-powered screening rooms.
@@therealshanelee oh I am but I’m not sitting in the first few rows. I usually sit in the next to last row or the last row depending on the seats that are available. Maybe it’d be different if I were to experience your setup. 🤔🤷♂️. The room IS tremendous don’t get me wrong. Obviously a ton of effort and Time went into it.

Nice looking theater Shane, congrats! I built my own one, too, a few years ago (and am still tweaking and optimizing - you're never really finished, are you? 😉). Strongly baffled front and rear walls (filled with rockwool, somewhere between 1 to 2 feet thick), which will give you a much more nuanced and precise bass (especially in combination with the Trinnov and/or eventual wave forming implementation). 2. A maskable screen, which will further improve the perceived contrast of the image. Best regards from Germany, keep going and enjoying!! 👍👍
Great job, theater looking real good! You gave me some good ideas for my upcoming(but much smaller) HT-build with those DIY wall-panels:) Btw you might already know but if 18" is enough and you go the DIY-route for subs, Dayton Audio just released their version 2 of the ultimax-subs. They're looking real interesting

This is a really cool video detailing your awesome setup! The only question that I still have is where is your equipment room located in regards to your auditorium? Also I do think you should get rid of that screen, build a fireplace and then hang a 32 inch TV high above the fireplace. That's the only way to truly do it right.
Great theater! I love the DIY stuff. Save money where you can so you can spend it where you need. The tray table in the front row seat where the iPad is, looks like it works by using the cup holder and not an accessory port. Can you please provide a link?
