  • I was given the Stanley Adventure All-In-One Boil + Brew French Press for my birthday last year and I quickly fell in love with it. It's larger than the 24-ounce Stanley Adventure cook set and it has french press coffee filter. Of all the ways that we've made coffee at camp, I've found this to be the easiest and best tasting so far. As an added bonus the room inside of the 32-ounce pot allows me to use a mini-loaf baking pan. Winner!

Just now finding this. Great video! Now I want to try making bread too. I would try cutting or forming a groove across the middle of the lid that would hold on to the lip of the mini loaf pan. Maybe somebody else has suggested this...

Thank you for this video! Home economics has just expanded in vision and capabilities. Years ago, Mom showed us to take a fresh caught fish, clean it and rinse the cavity, leave the head and scales on the fish. Mix up a thick mud from clay looking dirt, pack the mud real good around the fish. Rake back heavy wood in a fire and put the fish over a good bed of coals and compleatly cover the fish with coals but careful not to add heavy weight on top, not to disturb the mud seal. Let the fish bake in the coals. The mud will harden and scales will stick in the mud when baked. Remove the fish and let cool some to handle easier. Carefully break the baked mud with a knife or rock. The mud pottery didn't compleatly fall apart when broken and formed sort of a plate/bowl to eat from. I thought I'd share the experience. You could bake fish in the coffee press too. Bread, fish and coffee! 😋

Great vid and idea. Came across a mini loaf pan that fit inside my adventure cook set and was stoked to try out the baking hack. Thanks for the tip guys!
PS The pan I got - Betty Crocker Mini Loaf BC 1017 - fits perfectly inside the cook set without any modifications so thought I would share the find in case anyone was looking for one that didn't require cutting out the edges. Its dimensions are 5.25" long x 3" wide x 1" deep.

That's wonderful. I also have both sets from Stanley and encourage your son to do so as well ! Another baker's trick, outside of the one you mentioned, scoring the top of the little bread loaf, would be to add a little water in there before putting it over, jn the hot coals. You’ll end up with a slightly bigger loaf, and better textured as well.

Your metal lid find was brilliant! That completes the entire kit for me. I already own the Boil and Brew French Press, the 2 green cup pot, and two non stick mini loaf pans. Ordering the metal lid tops it off. Thanks so much for posting this video! Now I can bake homemade cornbread with my homemade chili or great northern beans w/ bacon & onions. @@robertsbushcraft Ya know, I'm thinkin' one of those silicone egg rings might be wide enough to put around the lid to hold it in place while laying in the baking position. Some of them are not very wide but other ones are about 1/2 in deep for holding two eggs. Those would (maybe) work good. Sorta like a Ranger Band for it. Anyway, I'm already thinking on it.

I never tried it on the French press. I use it on my daily use titanium mug and often my Stanley adventure pot. Now I know and will have to give it a shot, thank you. I watch hundreds of these types of videos, so I’ve seen too many to be easily impressed, but I AM IMPRESSED! (Seriously, I’ve watched five Stanley French Press videos today before this one.)
The lagniappe effect of baking bread like you did removes the need for the other cooker pot and gets you a better result.
Question I have is how much coffee are you using for a full pot? And looks like coarse ground coffee, correct? I used some finer grind today and got a bit of sludge in my cup. I don’t mind it but others probably don’t care for it.
Hitting like, save, and subscribe just based on this video, Fellas. Thanks again!

Hey thanks, Kevin! You know, being able to bake bread at camp is a real treat. A small bag of flour and such can be easily carried and used for several days worth of food. The Stanley presses are just about the perfect size to bake in. I'm using about 1/3 cup of coffee (or slightly more) in my press. It's Folgers classic roast and I think that is medium coarse.

I picked this up and put it down many times while browsing around in Walmart and my wife decided to get it for me for my birthday last year and I was thrilled with it from the beginning. Making coffee at camp really doesn't get any easier than this. Thanks for watching and commenting, Jeff!

I have not baked anything yet in this manner (over here, as well as during my australian outback experience, we bake bread inside a dutch oven under the embers), but I am getting interested in trying this "lighter" option! Thanks for the ideas and inspirations. I am searching already for a small grid for my pot, and I also want to try it with my german army mess kit. I am not a great coffee drinker (over here we drink mate tea from the gourd), but I think I will buy this press anyway, since you can also use it to make tea (mint, etc). I think Stanley makes very well thought kits, and the quality is also very good, price is also right. I think they could try to offer a little baking set like this one... greeting from wild, wet, windy and wonderful Western Patagonia

What a fun video and great use of a product that I already own and also love! The coffee from the Stanley french press is so good, I bought an extra one to use at home on my stovetop, when I'm making some afternoon "rocking, chair, cat on lap, good book, and sweet baked treat" time. I actually made that little clip using an engineer stake. Have you ever seen those little flags sticking up out of the ground when someone is marking an area of construction? That's what I used, the steel rod part of it. You can find them at most any home improvement store. I took my multi-tool and just bent it to the shape I needed and voila! NC is the place to be, In2 Prepping!

Hey there! Have you found a mug, that fits around the bottom of the french press? I use it for a couple of years now and looked around a bit when I started using it... What I did then is use a smaller cheap stainless steel cup like yours, turn it upside down and lightly press it inside the top of the press when storing it. If you don't slide it in all the way you even have a bit more space to put stuff inside. You cannot fit the original lid on anymore, but I am not using that much anyways and you can always put it on the bottom of your stuffsack...

Drill some holes near the top for a bail and then use the holes to run a wire through the hole on one side and through the slit in the lid and then through the hole on the other side. An easy way to add a lid holder and a bail to it!

    • @robertsbushcraft

Nipping the ends would have solved the issue of the rack being too long, but not the baking pan. I didn't want to cut and grind on that and expose the metal. So, I kept the rack the same length as the pan and flipped the lid.

    • @robertsbushcraft
      @robertsbushcraft  4 роки тому

No, you do not HAVE to, but, it is my preferred method. Baking with the propane stove can be tricky because you have an extreme amount of heat in a concentrated location, it's sort of like a blowtorch. To combat that you'll need to use some sort of material to spread the heat, like a hand full of small rocks. The rocks that I've picked up while hiking have worked for well for me. I spread them out along the bottom of the container beneath my cooking pan to act as a shield between the heat source and the bottom of the baking pan/tray. The rocks spread the heat. Also, I've found that using some sort of heat shield inside the container helps tremendously. I use a folded piece of aluminium from a pie crust pan and it works well. Keep your flame low and take it slow, j Nic!
