me watching this with my half dead maranta in the corner: 👁👄👁
Lol!!
Me too. 🤣
In this video there's no mention of how most Marantas don't like hard tap water and all the chemicals we have in our tap waters, maybe where Fern lives the tap water is better?
usually they advise to use filtered water
Laughed way too much at this
I think making plant care a series would be an awesome idea for you to do! Like each week or whenever you pick out 1 plant from your collection and do "care tips and tricks" and especially " how to propagate" for that plant! There are so many plants that propagate differently from one another, It's not as easy as one might think . Anyway, Love this video, of course! you're great! Thanks Fern! xoxo
So true! Thanks so much. I definitely will be making more.
I have "typical" maranta near my east facing window. It gets direct sunlight for 1 or 2 hours, I keep humidity around 70% and it's literally thriving in there! (it's smaller than your variegated one but is having like 9 inflorescences!). Omg, I am extremely proud of it and of course myself :P
Okay i love this ! Please please make this a series!
Thank you!! I shall :)
Omg that lemon lime 😍 they're super rare here in the UK but I need one!
Omg I literally JUST bought a maranta today and I am so excited my FAVORITE planttuber posted this specific video! Thanks Fern, love you, hope you are doing well! Glad to see all the new content lately 🥰🌱💚
Awe!!! Thank you so much for your support
Thank u so much for making this I really needed this 🥺
You're so welcome!!
My maranta is my favorite 😍 Definitely so underrated!
Yes totally!!
I was just at my local nursery and they had one of the lemon lime Maranta which I bought. My mother had one several years ago but it was not a lemon lime and it was not nearly as bright and colorful as this one. She called it a “prayer plant.” I paid $15.00 for it and it came with a very nice planter. Not the cheap plastic stuff that usually gets sold at department stores and with nursery plants. Great deal. It is a good size for a plant sold at the nursery. So glad that I was able to get it. Don’t remember a thing about what to do with it though.
I avoid getting the white stains on terracotta by not watering with hard water. It is the minerals in the water that leach through the clay that cause the staining. Using purified water usually works well. I have a lot of succulents so I use a lot of terracotta planters. Love the stuff because terracotta helps to prevent over watering. Succulents need really good drainage and the clay pots help pull the water away from the inside of the pot more quickly than it happens with a ceramic or plastic pot. Succulents are a different breed then regular house plants.
If you want to reuse a terracotta pot just wash with soap and water and then soak it in vinegar and water for a few hours depending on how bad the staining is. Then scrub with a scrub brush or toothbrush and it should all come off.
Beautiful Marantas! Thanks for the care tips! The variegated maranta is on top of my wishlist!!
You’re welcome! Yes, highly recommend.
I would definitely love a specific plant 101 series like this! I love my maranta their growth patterns are so interesting! 💖
Thanks so much for watching. There will be more x
Ive found this sooo helpful! I just bought one as I never seen such a unique and pretty plant like these before 😍😍👍
You’re so beautiful with and without makeup! Loving your videos ❤️
Wow I’ve never been this early lol
I’ve been thinking about getting a maranta but wanted to do some research first so I’ve literally been watching maranta care videos all day, this is perfect timing thank you so much 😂
That is perfect haha! Thanks so much for watching mine x
Thank you Fern!!!!!! Sooooo glad you made this vid! 🌱💝
You are so welcome!
That variegated maranta 🤩🤩🤩 so beautiful! I have a little lemon lime cutting and the new immature growth looks like the reg green Maranta. They are such interesting plants 🥰
Ahhh so excited! You posted this just in time for me, I just ordered a red maranta prayer plant from Etsy and have had it for about a week now and I'm so excited to have her now! ❤ She's so pretty and I can't wait to watch her grow but she is my first maranta so I need all the help I can get 😅
Oh that’s perfect! Hope she does awesome :)
Hey Fern this was most helpful, thank you so much! 💚
Omg you look adorable during your outro! Hair and make up 👍🏻 also I love the idea of doing a video dedicated to one plant.
Thank you so much 🥺
They are so cute!! 🌱💕
Thank you!!
you are a goddess! I literally just bought a maranta yesterday and I had no idea how to look after it, now I know! Thank you 💖
You're so welcome!
Thank you so much Fern, I really really enjoyed your video. I am new to Calathea’s and mine are very very well at the moment fingers crossed 🤞 that they will stay healthy and well
I’m so happy you made this video! I’ve got a red, lemon lime, variegated, and I just found a silver band that I ABSOLUTELY snagged up real quick. They LOVE my apartment and I’m so thankful cause they’re so easy and gorgeous.
Thank you for this video! I also agree about the humidity aspect, I pop those babies in the bathroom sometimes when I shower to add a little bit humidity for them. ✨
They are so lovely, I think I need to collect more. The silver band is beautiful. Glad they're doing so well for you
I definitely want a Maranta, they're gorgeous!
Just found one @ a local store this evening and am here for tips on care :) I'm loving the look of the leaves!!
Another great video! I laughed when I saw the green price sticker on the pot, lol, every time I turn my plants I come across 1 or 2 Value Village stickers 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
My favorite plants!!! Great video!!! 😃🌱
oh wow 3 seconds ago lol. I just got a red leuconeura recently after many years since the last attempt so this is helpful! I love how it actually is kind of secretly a hanging plant, that was something I did not understand last time. Thanks!
Ahh amazing!! And yes, I love how they start to trail, so cool. Thanks for watching :)
Omg I was waiting for you to post
Hahah thank you!!
I just recently bought some "string of" cuttings from a local person on fb marketplace, and she was an hour late so she threw in some EXTREMELY rooted rabbits foot maranta cuttings (to the point that I didn't know if they would do well transferring to soil because they were so rooted in water) I eventually decided to bite the bullet and put them in soil to see how they did since I didnt pay for them anyways. the cuttings were enough to fully fill out a 4 inch pot and after about 1 1/2 weeks of sitting under my grow light while keeping the soil moist it has fully put out a new leaf and is unfurling 2 more as I type this, I had no clue how to take care of a maranta considering ive never cared for one before. I came to your video to find out how to care for it in the future. super helpful video!!! my maranta has been THRIVING the last couple weeks so im really excited !
Thanks this was super helpful. I finally got my hands on a Lemon Lime Maranta today =)
Ur so beautiful tho (: I love the variegated one she’s so cute and also the lemon lime- is so pretty !! Love you hehe hope you’ll have a great day
Awe thank you so much!!
Thank you for this kind of video it helps me a lot tore my marantha too
Thank you so much for making this!
You’re welcome 😇
i love the way your hair looked in the last clip, u looked so cute!
Thank you so much :)
Thanks for sharing your tips!
I want to proagate my Lemon Lime since a few days but I didn‘t know how to - so thanks a lot! 🙆
Now i‘m able to cut my maranta in more plants.
Girl your hair like half up in those little pigtails at the end is soooo cute ☺️ maybe one day I’ll be brave enough to try growing a maranta
Thank you!!!
This was EXACTLY the video I needed 🤣 I’ve been wanting a lemon lime maranta and finally found one just last week and I am in loooove. I’ve got it in a room quarantining away from all my plants, and that room has much lower lighting conditions than my bedroom where all I plants are, so I’ve held off on watering...but I think this might be the encouragement I need!
Ours sits in the middle of our living room where it gets some direct early morning light and indirect bright light all day long and it it soooo happy- been blooming and putting out tons of new leaves all summer
Amazing! I love when they put out their cute little blooms. Sounds like it's super happy.
I love this, I’ve been scared to cut mine because I wasn’t sure where to cut :)
So happy to help!
HAPPY NEW YEAR we made it through 2020 Yayyy !!! LoL These beauties are next on my wishlist so I am glad I found this video. It seems like they're pretty easy care prayer plants but I'm waiting for a humidifier before I can get them Thank you for your easy to understand video
Happy New Year Diane! Yes, I love them so much! A humidifier is definitely a great idea though ☺️
I love Maranta’s!💕🐝
They’re so beautiful.
Yay... Finally to see Lemon Lime Maranta of yours. Thank you.. hope to see more Pickle Plant, Christmast Cactus, and Black Velvet of your, too... I am enjoying your video so much. Greet from Indonesia :)
Thank you so much for watching :))
I love your marantas, so so so beautiful 😍
Thank you!!
Would love a syngonium vid! Edit: and now that I think of it, alocasia and begonia too. I guess what I’m saying is I like this style of vid. 😇
I meant to thank you for mentioning Super Thrive and in a past video you even told me where to buy it in Canada (Canadian Tire). Thanks also for showing where the nodes are, they look different than say a monstera.
Oh you're welcome - glad that helped!!
Wow what a beautiful Maranta!! Glad I found your channel
Thank you so much!
@@wildfern FYI for anyone on here Lowes has a 10 in. red maranta for$19!!
I've been having my maranta fascinator propagated in water for three months and nothing happened, but the leaves still made their natural prayer plant movements so I didn't want to give up. The other day I was checking my propagations and finally... Roots! They're certainly slow, so if it happens to you just don't give up. :)
Awwww so glad she’s rooting finally!
That’s so weird because my marantas always root within like 2-3 weeks
They are gorgeous now i have to put them on my wishlist 💚 i love that you will read and talk to us - subscribers .. I also love that you link all the stuff you use for plant care. I've got a few in my cart so thank you for that. Question: do you see a difference when feeding your babes that vitamin??
Thank you so much
I have my maranta in a north facing window and its literally my happiest plant ❤❤
That’s awesome!! 🌿
wow my partner literally just brought me a cutting of a red maranta last night and i was worried they would be hard to root up. thanks so much!
You're welcome! Good luck x
Thank you Fern💚 I just got a maranta verigated Kim & red maranta! Wanting to get the maranta silver stripe and lemon lime !
Ohhh I'd love a silver stripe too! beautiful. Thank you for watching!
Such a cute video
Omg it looks fake so beautiful ❤❤❤
Thank you!!
Very helpful…thanks
Omg you look so young without makeup. Beautiful both ways 😊😚
Please do this care and prop video for your Hoyas. They all look so lush and healthy!
Coming up!
I have 4 cuttings from my great grams Maranta im trying it straight in dirt. I heard it was the best way to do them so we shall see!!
Wow they look so happy and pretty! Btw, thats not mold on your terracotta, just minerals
Thanks for info be blessed keep growing
Dear outro Fern and mid vid Fern, you look nothing like intro Fern! Lol love the versatility and thanks for the tips.
I love your videos :-)
You're too kind!! Thanks for watching :))
Hey thank you beautiful for sharing such great knowledge:)
It’s my first winter with plants & I do keep my Calethea in my bathroom which is like 60% humidity or more all the time
Should I put a daylight grow bulb in my bathroom fan with the light & since my plants will be like 7 feet away I’m guessing that’ll be like not to direct light?
That wouldn't be too direct at all :) You're good! Hope they do well x
Hi Fern, I love these guys too. I have a rattle snake, a pin stripe and a rose painted calathea. They are my favorites. I've had them about 4mos. I guess and they just recently started curling up in the ends. I don't have a humidifier so I spritz the leaves regularly. But one thing I did do recently was to let it completely dry out accidently. Maybe that was the problem 🤔. Thanks for the info!
Yes could be - mine definitely don't like running dry. Thanks so much for watching!
I have a lime green maranta too and currently have it in an east facing window! Should I be worried that it will crisp up? I got it about a week ago now but not sure if I should move it :(
Thank you thank you thank you!! 🙏🏻🌱🤍Can you please cover plant care for ferns? I can’t seem to make any of mine happy 😑
i love individual plant videos! any one you do i will love
Thanks so much! more to come :)
Hello! Is it possible to keep the plant in water? Or they will need anyway soil? I propagated one Maranta and she gave more leaves and many roots as well, but I dont want she suffer for been only in water 😐
Thanks for the great video Fern! Could you please do a video on calatheas? I love them so much but they are intimidating. Thanks, take care 😊.
Thank you! Yes, I can :))
Beautiful maranta, where did you say we could find a varigated one? Thank You
I found mine on Facebook Marketplace.
Nice info and nicely explained dear
Thank you so much 🙂
Hi! My plant has a little brown on the leaves and I was trying to figure out why. It’s in our semi-dark hallway right now, maybe I will put it in my bathroom for more humidity. Thanks for the tips!
Good luck!! If that doesn't help I'd try watering it with filtered or distilled water 🫶
Beautiful plants
Thank you!
My varigated maranta's leaves are leggy and relatively small, wi th a pointed end not round. I'm thinking this is due to immaturity AND the lighting it was under @ the store. I'm hoping to baby it back a better state bc everytime I see others, their leaves are rounder and shorter. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!
I’m trying to propagate my prayer plant in water with several cuttings. They have been in water for over a week now and one piece have grown roots.Any suggestions on why most aren’t growing roots? Maybe the cuttings weren’t right below the nodes?
What can I do about my Maranta that is having the curl of death issue? Many leaves are curled :(
So little information on the Parisian Shield plant. It is so incredibly beautiful and will be arriving next week. Would love to see a video on it if you own any.
Pls do a care & propagation video about your hoyas ! This would be so interesting 😍💚🌿 and pls a Leca Update as well ! 😍😍😍
I will! Thank you!!
Can you do plant care about your String of hearts and Hoyas please?
The best thing about growing maranta if you have a pet is that it’s non toxic and you can keep them on the floor without worry.
20 DOLLARS FOR A VARIEGATED MARANTA! :0 In The Netherlands they’ll cost hundreds of euros! Lucky girl! :D
No way! I found one at my local hardware store and bought it on clearance for $3. I rehabbed the plant and gave it to my friend.
I actually got a cutting for €4,- So really happy about that :D
I just got a variegated maranta today thats a coincidence and a half!!
Awesome! You'll love it. They are so easy and beautiful.
I really like this kind of videos.
I can use a hoya or 'string of hearts' video.
Thanks!!
calathea care tips would be great 💚 also alocasia and palms 😇
Thank you!!
Those plants are so picky.
Someone help me out; I purchased a big, beautiful Maranta, put her around 1m away from the window without direct sunlight, watered her so she doesn't dry out, and humidity stays around 50-60%. I noticed her leaves becoming limper, some even turned yellow and the whole plant seems like all the leaves are too heavy and the twigs aren't standing up anymore. The roots are strong and white, there's no bad smell and no pests. Do I have to repot her? Does she like her roots to be a bit snugger like some pothos do, or does she like more room for them?
OMG I can't get over how much you paid for yours. I bought mines I can't remember how much it was but it's much smaller. Yours is huge! I'm about to repot mines so I watched some videos. I also have a red one and that one has a wide spread I could probably propagate now.
I would cut that red variegated leaf and put it in plastic and then in a scrap book or just a book!! Very kewl 😎!!
I haven't seen any of these in the AB grocery stores! Are they prone to spider mites at all? Medium indirect light is perfect for my house!! These are beautiful & so are you!
I've heard they can be prone to spider mites but I honestly haven't had a huge problem with them personally!
For anyone wondering about marantas + direct light, I put mine in a south facing window as a treat one day in July and it SHRANK out of the direct sun, it was very unhappy. These babies are big fans of indirect only!
OMG lol! She was like no thanks!! Haha good to know, thank you.
I love your necklace! As far as leaf propagation goes. My question is do you have to see the nodes? I took a cutting a few minutes ago. It's a young one. You cannot see the nodes yet. Will that develop roots?
Yes, even if the node is not distinct it should still grow roots :)
@@wildfern Thank you. 😊
Hi! Great video:) I have a question, do you put the propogated leaves back into the same pot once they have rooted? Is that ok to do? Or did you put them in a new pot? I'm just asking because my new maranta looks a little bare and I want to add more cuttings into the pot in order to make a more full pot, but am not sure if that will work.
I do both! You can definitely add more to make a fuller pot. I've recently done this with my lemon lime maranta.
@@wildfern amazing, thanks!!
I have a red maranta and all the new leaves are turning out weird looking ... They are much lighter and more narrow, and they don't have the pattern that the older leaves have. Does anyone know why they are like this and how I could fix it??
I really want a maranta☺️
How do you keep the leuconeura leaves dark green? My new leaves come out light green...
Mine come out light but they get dark over time :)
It's the same species so obviously the care requirements are very similar or even the same. The same applies for 'Silver Band', NoID (actually var. leuconeura), var. erythroneura and var. massangeana (Black maranta). Since they are all cultivars of Maranta leuconeura. However, in my experience, the ones with reddish leaf undersides can tolerate a bit more shade or better said less light than the one with green backs
Please share your marble queens care and tips 🌱💚
Could you make a video like this about hoyas? I really loved this video
Thank you so much. And yes! On my list.
Question!!??
Anybody know if the verigated Maranta Kim (the tai constellation of marantas) have stable verigation or will it revert back to green? Also what can we do to increase verigation?
I think it’s stable!
You look great without makeup
