I know this is an old video but I'm an arachnophobe that has been glued to your channel, as well as Petko and others, in the last few weeks, and this video was the first time I said "aww" when I saw a spider (the versicolor). So now I've ordered a few slings (among them versicolor and elegans), I got totally greedy, and hopefully this is the first step towards my life as an arachnophile. Thanks for the content and that your elegant facial hair reminded me I have to trim my birds nest of a beard. Greetings from Sweden.
Andreas glad to hear it! Yes the versicolor and C. elegans are great. They are very sweet natured. C. versicolor are one of my all time favorite. I was very sad when mine matured male but I sent him off to a breeder. I still have 2 slings I am hoping at least one will be female. 😊
@@TarantulaHaven Let's hope for a female, they are a really beautiful species even from my point of view :) I'm looking forward to the arrivals with a mix of elation and horror to be honest. I ordered four C. elegans I don't know yet if they have that many but they seem to be rare so I might as well go for it. I might end up with a breeding couple after all! Also, I reasoned that smaller spiders will be more easy to welcome into my home. That said, I did also order a beginners mystery box from Spidersworld.eu along the C. versicolor, so suddenly I have 8 slings incoming. I might film the unpacking/rehousings just to be able to look back and see how my attitude might change along the way. Thanks again for the videos and the quick answer, I'll end this novel of a comment by bidding you a nice evening :)
Andreas very cool. I would love to see your unboxing “reaction” video. I came into this without fear so it’s interesting to me when arachnophobes get into the hobby and overcome their fears. The hobby is addicting. Hopefully you’ll soon find how marvelous these creatures are and become an enthusiast. Some of the biggest hobbyists started out as arachnophobes. 🤓👍🏼🕷
@@TarantulaHaven Let's see what happens, I'm leaning towards a positive response, otherwise I wouldn't be considering taking so many lives into my care. That said, video and real life are not the same. If I can avoid screaming like a child and cowering in a corner while the slings do a victory dance (freedooooom!) I will deem it a success :D If I make a video I'll let you know, I hope it doesn't go too well though, it might become expensive ;)

I got my first Caribena Versicolor (and second tarantula ever) last week. They are a bit bigger than your little guys and amazing to watch. Mine is always out in the open on its web or cork bark lean to. I love watching them :) Congrats on all your new little ones and good luck getting females out of them!

I'll have to take a look at your H. gigas video. I've never had one and wasn't expecting to get one. I know a little about them but not as much as I would like to. :D

I love love Arachnoiden! They are SUPER nice folks and always at our local reptile expo in Manchester, NH (I'll be there on Sunday!) . I'll definitely be stopping at the Arachnoiden table and possibly picking up a new T or two.
I picked up my C. versicolor and my P. regalis slings at a past show from Arachnoiden and they are both very healthy and doing well.
Awesome! It's cool that he makes it out to the shows up north. Our shows here in FL barely have any T vendors, which is why I was so looking forward to the National Reptile Breeder's Expo because I knew Fear Not Tarantulas is going to be there. :)
great purchases great rehousing and good footage as always, i do have a question do you put holes in the lids of the virsi and pink toes and how do you maintain them ? my hati hati is somewhat of a pet hole but have seen it out late at night , never been able to capture a picture as it darts back in the burrow as soon as any movement near it lol
The versi lids do have holes because they already had them. They are reused containers from other T's I've purchased. The pink toe ones do not. I keep them moist but not over-saturated and I let the substrate semi-dry between waterings but never fully dry.

I have a couple of questions I purchased a metallic Pinto the post office screwed up it took five days to arrive and it’s cold where I am after a week it’s still alive but it’s just sitting there and I’m thinking maybe it’s in pre-mold do you think it has a good chance of living after being alive after that long shipping for over a week now also how are your new transient so well behaved I have a GBB and I went to feed her a small cricket room barely open the top and it bolted luckily it stopped at the edge of the dresser and I was able to get it in my hand and cup it and put it back in its enclosure also I have a curly hair and I never see it it’s always inside do I have to have a hide in there or can I take the height out and will it stay on top or burrow down. Thanks for all your great videos have learned a lot

I hope so. I want them to get some size on them. I always get nervous when they're so small.
I bought a couple of slings same size as yours and you could barely differentiate between carapace and abdomen as they were just blue fluff and then they went dark and I could suddenly distinguish the body from the carapace, they refused one meal and molted literally a week later. I keep mine around 23/24c, dry sub, and a bowl of water with a few drops on the web and walls and they are thriving. It’s colder in the uk though so it’s hard to bring temps up consistently without hammering the central heating and other household members not whinging! They just don’t get it lol! xxx

Immortal Slayer of Gods yes. In fact they prefer to send it to a FedEx center. They will only ship if the temperature is above a certain point. If it gets too cold they will delay shipping.

C. elegans will be very tiny and you’ll have to feed it fruit flies. Spiderlings will also scavenge food. Pinhead crickets can also be fed but you would have to pre-kill them by crushing their heads. You can also cut a piece of mealworm and place it in the enclosure. Just make sure to remove any uneaten prey afterward so that it doesn’t mold and attract mites.

Yep. That's fat cat. She wandered up to the house one day and adopted us. She has a chip between her shoulder blades and we had animal control track it down to a man in Georgia. He and his wife got a divorce. She took the cat and moved to Florida apparently near us. Animal control contacted the man in Georgia and he said he didn't want her anymore. We've been taking care of her ever since. Family in FL never went looking for her or made signs or anything. :(
The video doesn't do the cyriopagopus sp. "Hati hati" justice, my juvenile is a lovely purple colour with orange hairs all over it's body, might wanna give them more substrate though they love to burrow while they're younger and are a pet hole for a while til they get big enough

Maris Kay I used a soldering iron. I was careful only to melt the tip of it so I wouldn’t make the holes too big.
Shredded paper as packing is so EVIL. I have a feeling none of the people who do it have ever received a package stuffed with shredded paper that gets EVERYWHEEEEERRRRE lol.

Youve stolen my favourite music! Cant beat enigma. What age do you have to transfer the h. Gigas to a 50 /50 per cent aquarium /pallidarium so they can swim and hunt and eat fish like minoes etc. I know they swim young and need very very deep substrate to do deep long tunnels in to exhibit their natural behaviour. Check about feeder goldfish. See videos below,
