  • Here is how to route wiring on your Lectric and run dual batteries simultaneously.
    No on off switches and no stopping to swap out batteries.
    Increase range.

    The Polar Bear blender is also a good option. I am now running it with good results. They also sell one with two outputs so you can run two controllers if you want to upgrade and run 2 motors.

    Bolton E-bikes parallel connector is out of stock for 3-4 months. I am now running the Electromotive FBC device which I highly recommend. Its Made in USA and works great. It takes Xt60 connectors instead of XT90s. Everything else is just like the videos. Airflow is important on the FBC. Here is a link to Electromotive Mods. You'll need the 50Amp dual. I do not get a commission but please tell him I recommended you.

    • @juanescorza2984
      @juanescorza2984  Рік тому +2

      Thank you. Adding a toggle switch won't hurt anything but you don't need one. Adding a toggle switch will also add more clutter to your bike. If you ever need to remove the second battery you can just unplug it from the parallel connector and run the single stock battery. The parallel battery blender can run just one battery without issues. I do recommend running both batteries simultaneously. It will maximize your overall range even more vs running them single. The distribution of available power will be shared by more than twice as many cells. This will stress your cells less extending the overall battery pack lifecycle. You will also notice your bike a little more powerful at takeoff and struggle less on hills. You're going to love the way your bike performs running dual batteries. When you charge your batteries you can leave your ignition key on and everything plugged in. Just charge them without any worries.

    • @juanescorza2984
      @juanescorza2984  2 роки тому +2

      That's awesome. There is added benefits in running them simultaneously over individually. Your distribution of power will be shared by more than twice the cells vs running single batteries. This stresses the cells a lot less and extends the overall life expectancy of your batteries. It also increases your overall range over running them individually.. You will also have a lot less voltage sag and will experience quicker acceleration, more available power specially going up hills. Your bike will feel stronger.

      You cannot fit any blender into the battery compartment there's just not enough space. The "controller" compartment does have enough space for some balancers like Date-X blender or the cheaper Amazon blender but the Bolton blender does not fit into the regular XP but maybe it will on the ST. Some blenders like Electromotive Mods FBC which I am using now need airflow for cooling therefore not recommended to be inside the compartment without airflow.

    You don't have to open anything. I put male spade connectors on the terminals that are inside when the bike is unfolded. You have to do the polarity correctly. There are fat tabs, so the spade connectors have to be bent up slightly. There are 5 tabs on mine, but only two carry power, plus and minus. I have big batteries, and I really dislike the key on the XP bettery. I just run one big battery that sits in a bike bag, in back. So, two spade connectors to an XT 60 female, run it out through existing hole on the side. Watch the wiring as you fold it back out for riding.
    I appreciate the look at the inside of the controller side of things. Weird they use a T connector in there. I could hook a T connector to my XT60 and run the XT outside. I can see several ways to do things, with and without the OEM pack. I don't want to parallel different batteries. I've hacked the XP battery, outside the bike, with fat tabs I made to plus into the end. I'll probably take it apart, but I ran capacity tests with a watt hour meter. I really do not like that key hanging down, and removing the battery is kind of nasty.

      It all depends what battery you get. Most people are using CAO MM 20Ah battery which costs around $300. Bolton ebikes parallel connector is $60.00 but they are out of stock. You can use Date-x2 but it's over $100.00 and ships from UK. I just came across another device called FBC from Electromotive Mods @90.00 made in USA . I will have a video a video on that device soon. I just have to install and test before I can recommend. Connectors will be around $30.00 for a plug and play setup.

      It depends what battery you'll use. The battery I'm using is IP-65 rated. It should be ok with rain. Most people use CAO MM 20ah batteries and store then in a waterproof bag on mounted on the rear rack. I wouldn't recommend riding the bike in heavy rain or deep puddles anyway. The motor on Lectric is not rated IP-65 like Lectric claims.

    OK, the way this is wired the bike would still power up with the key removed. Could you add a relay using the original battery leads as the trigger to switch the second battery off/on with the key?

    • @juanescorza2984
      @juanescorza2984  2 роки тому +1

      Yes you can but I don't see it necessary. I always leave the key on the on position anyways. And yes the way it's wired the display will always turn on. If you happen to forget to turn your key to the "ON" position and somehow ride depleting one battery, it's totally safe to just flip the key to the "on' position. The parallel connector is designed to stabilize the batteries. One can be 50% charged and the other can be fully charged and the parallel connector will do it's job by using power from the fully charged battery until they are both balanced then use power from both. Totally safe without a relay.

      The tire bead came off the rim? Or you just got a flat? If the tire bead came off the rim. Make sure you have good air pressure and tire is seated good all the way around. Also maybe going with a 20x4 inner tube if you don't have it already. The 20x3 inner tube seems a little too narrow and I see that possibly being a problem. Has never happened to me and I do go through some rough gravel roads sometimes.

    • @juanescorza2984
      @juanescorza2984  12 днів тому

      It all depends on the controller you are using and its limits. For example my stock controller on my Lectric is rated at 48V which means I need a 48v battery. A 48v battery fully charged is 54.6v. I opened up the controller and read the specifications on the internal components which most if not all read 60v. I do run a 52v battery with stock components on my Lectric without issues because a 52v battery fully charged does not exceed 60v. I couldn’t run a 72v battery because I would exceed the 60v rating on my controller components which would burn them out.
