Rest in peace, Broddie. First experienced the magic of your vocals and harm at Q Club from 1967 onwards and enjoyed your journey with various succeeding bands. Now a week after you left us, I am surprised by the lack of acknowledgement in any Media!
The band here is Broderick Smith (v), Kerryn Tolhurst (g), John Du Bois (b), John Lee (d) and Mal Logon (k). The interview at the beginning incorrectly tags John Lee as John Du Bois.
Barry Sullivan was never in The Dingoes John Du Bois is bass (video incorrectly says John Lee is John Du Bois during interview) & the guitarist is Kerryn Tolhurst, Chris Stockley was obviously recovering from being shot.
I heard the Dingoes' track Smooth Sailing on some feature program on local rock radio here in Seattle, can't remember the year, but it was later than 1973, and I bought the album (probably a compilation LP, as many Oz debut records were here during that period). I remember Smooth Sailing was cool, and the rest of the tracks had a very country-rock feel, but -- naturally -- they weren't like you're typical US country rock. Way Out West really stuck out, with its WA imagery and I still don't really know what fiber-cement is, I guess it's cement blocks used to make houses? But very cool to actually see them playing this.
Fibro cement is a little like plaster board, in the sense it is produced in sheets and is fixed to the outside of a building.A cheap product used for inexpensive housing.
I remember Chris Stockley telling me about how Mr Death Dennis Allen shot him and how he shaved the bullet to cause as much damage as possible. Stockley still has a huge scar on his stomach that will never fade away. Dennis Allen shot him as payback after he tried to gatecrash a party and was turned away.
@@Albert-Arthur-Wison225 Nobody gave Dennis Allen up if they wanted to see their next birthday. the movie Animal Kingdom was based on the Pierce,, Allen and Pettingill family.

Vale Broderick. They didn't sing better or write more quintessentially Australian music than this bloke. Such a sad day.
Love this, wow glad I found it

@@petermcculloch4933 At the time this song was written, its a good bet the fibre cement used for these houses would have contained asbestos.
@@jfwfreo That is a disturbing thought.Especially when you think of the damage a cricket ball did when it cracked the sheet.
Asbestos sheeting to make walls in houses … vile cancerous stuff … a pox on you CSR. Look up Wittenoom Asbestos mine.

Surely he was arrested, tried, and gaoled ?

Great Aussie tune ... deserved better coverage.
That video is wrongly watermarked as being John DuBois, but the drummer of the band was John Lee.
How's the tosser doing the interview?
Anyone know if this great song got airplay in America??
I had no idea that the legendary Micheal Gudinski had a hand in the recording and distribution of this song...
yeh, it's in the Mushroom Music Songbook, it's now exactly 50 years old.
did not know it either JONATHAN both passed on now rip
a van morrison similarity, but better
Why is that guy smiling so much😏
Kerryn!
The person captioned John Dubois at the start of the interview, is he later known as John Lee the drummer?
Ambrose, is that you?
The name of the show that's mentioned must have existed just before Countdown started.
here's me thinking that James Rene's (maybe spelt wrong) was the original version....the better version; whatever happened to them?
После этого видео я купил харп, тюнинг А.
didn't realise gtk went for so many years. then countdown came and ruined it all
Great song the 90s version was shite
Это быдо семб лет назад.
sounds like van morrison...
