  • In this video, you will learn how to use The Ordinary Mandelic Acid 10% + HA.
Targets: Dullness, uneven tone, textural irregularities
    Format: Anhydrous solution
    Regimen Step: Apply before oils/creams
Conflicts: Do not combine with other strong acids, EUK 134 0.1%, or peptides
Time of Use: Ideally in the PM
General Rule of Thumb for Order of Application:
    Water-based serums
    Anhydrous solutions and oil formulations
    Creams and suspensions
    Important:
If you have more than one water-based serum, apply based on the priority of your concerns (the product targeting the most critical concern should go first). It is recommended to apply eye serums (such as Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG) first after cleansing.
Limit your regimen to a maximum of three serum formulations.
Always apply sunscreen when exposed to the sun!

I use the same Neutrogena cleanser you use! Then I apply rose water I put on a spray bottle (rose water is a natural toner and has multiple benefits), as a mosturizer I use the marine hyaluronics because of their watery texture and then if it's the day and I'm leaving the house (this is both am routine and pm) I apply 30spf on my face and neck. I'm gonna introduce the mandelic acid after the marine hyaluronics on my nighttime routine :)

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  3 місяці тому

Mandelic Acid is generally pretty gentle compared to Lactic or Glycolic Acid, so diluting it is probably not necessary. Just make sure to start with 2-3 times per week for some time before using it more often, as this depends on your skin tolerance. Hi Melissa, thank you for all the helpful info. I recently started using the Mandelic acid at night only a couple of times per week and noticed I'm getting a few pimples on my forehead and a couple of dry spots across my face. I don't know if I'm purging or if I should stop using it? Perhaps it's because I'm not used to it? I would appreciate your advice! Thanks

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet

      Hey :)
What else are you using along with it? Have you used/changed anything else since using Mandelic Acid? Also, do you usually get breakouts?
Every new product can cause purging, or if you usually get breakouts, they can show up quicker on the skin's surface because it is an exfoliant or you may be using it too often, and your skin does not need it as much and feels slightly irritated...

Hi, Melissa! I've recently found you on UA-cam and you are doing an excellent job. I have combination skin (34 years old) and want to start using your AM and PM routine for my type of skin. I just have one question: I have occasional pimples and I was wondering if I could alternate the Mandelic Acid with Salycilic Acid? And also: Salycilic Acid should only be used on target spots and not on the entire face? Can you please guide me? You are my saviour for The Ordinary products 🤗😁

    • @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet
      @MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet  4 роки тому +3

      Hey, thank you!🥰
I guess you talk about the Salicylic Acid 2% Solution and not the mask? I haven't tried the solution because it is not available😅 but I have the mask, which I have already used once!
Ok, so the Salicylic Acid 2% Solution can be used in the AM and/or PM only on spots which you want to treat and the Mandelic Acid can be used all over the face and only PM.
So, your first option could be that you switch between the Mandelic Acid and the Salicylic Acid in your PM routine - just as you've mentioned. This is also what I would recommend.
However, you could use the Salicylic Acid in the morning and the Mandelic Acid in the evening, just make sure to use sunscreen in the morning when being exposed to the sun. This could theoretically work since you only use it for spot treatment but I don't know your skin tolerance so, you have to keep an eye on your skin and see how it works for you.
This is also what it says on the Ordinary website under the solution: "If dryness or peeling occurs reduce application to once a day or every other day".
      Hope this helps🥰

That's misinformation. Hyaluronic Acid is saturated (in the formulation itself), meaning it has already absorbed all the water it can, so you do not need to worry about it. However, in this case, it's essential to use it on dry skin since it is an exfoliating acid which may irritate the skin when it's wet because of increased absorption.

Thank you for this video, it is really helpful. I have only ever washed my skin with a cleanser and never really applied anything to it. Is this good to begin with? I have freckles that I’m quite fond of, could this in any way “ruin” them or have a negative impact on my skin? : )

Have you been using it daily for the past week?
How fast you'll notice improvements when using Mandelic Acid can vary on several factors, including the individual's skin type, the severity of the skin concern being treated, frequency and consistency of use. Generally, it may take a few weeks to see noticeable results with regular use of a mandelic acid serum. This is because mandelic acid is a gentle exfoliant that works gradually to improve the appearance of the skin. It helps remove dead skin cells, unclogs pores, and improves skin texture, resulting in a brighter, smoother, and more even complexion over time.
However, it is important to note that results may vary from person to person, and some individuals may see results sooner or later than others.
The steps of your routine look correct. The Ordinary Mandelic Acid is a gentle exfoliant so if you tolerate that one well, you shouldn't have any issues with adding the other products. Still, if sensitivity occurs. Give your skin a break and/or use some products less often.

      Hey! :)
Since when do you get new breakouts?
How was your skin doing while you weren't using Mandelic Acid?
      Yes, that's fine.

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet My skin before Mandelic acid was not doing better as I had some actives and I still have some on my right cheek, forehead and on chin area.
However I will try this routine now☺️☺️

I recommend figuring out what's causing your acne in the first place...like checking the skincare products that you are using, hygiene in general but most importantly, reducing stress (if you have some) and changing your diet like; cutting out sugar and dairy and you may even want to pay attention to fruits and or meat because some of them can be treated with some toxins to make it last longer..
