    As usual plethora of clear and specific information with warnings. I love how responsible you are when suggesting a product! Melissa, quick question, what is the tinted sunscreen you're talking about here? I am currently looking for one, I don't use foundation and even most BB creams seem to be too heavy for me. It's pretty hard to find an almost sheer one. I use sunscreen on daily basis so tinted one would be ideal for me

    Hi! Very informative, as always 😊 I think in one of your older videos it is said that you could mix it with vitamin C powder, am I wrong? Thanks

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  5 місяців тому +1

      Hmm, I am unsure if I mentioned this in one of my videos, but The Ordinary does not specifically state that you cannot mix its Vitamin C powder with the Alpha Arbutin serum, so that could be an option. However, according to what I've read in this paper (Safety of Alpha-Arbutin and Beta-Arbutin in Cosmetic Products), directly mixing them may be problematic as it could convert the Alpha Arbutin into a different form. While this isn't necessarily a problem, it might be more irritating or cause side effects.
      Therefore, I mentioned the need to wait a bit after applying exfoliating acids. This caution is because I'm not sure about the amount of acid people use, or if combining it could generally lead to problems, such as increased irritation.

    hey melissa!
    out of these products what would u recommend the best?: the ordinary glycolic acid toner, the ordinary alpha aburtin, lactic acid or niacinimide
    which of these is best for hyperpigmentation and dark spots after acne. my dark spots do not go away! i have dark acne marks all over my face abs i want them all to fade but they never seem to go away.
    i really want to brighten my skin and clear my acne.
    i’ve recently starting using the panoxyl 4% wash for my acne and i haven’t seen a huge change and i’ve been using it for 3 weeks. i’ve stoped using the niacinimide serum bc of it as i fear it would dry out too much, but if you could let me know if it’s fine i’d like to adapt it back into my routine
    i’ve also started using the paula’s choice aha + bha exfoliate. again, no major differences so far.
    what’s the best products for my acne? i’ve got so many pimples and comadones. mainly dark sports after acne i want to clear!
    i’ve also started using la roche posay effaclar duo + M which i think is new and i haven’t seen much about it so let me know!
    thanks so so so much!!!!❤❤❤

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  5 місяців тому

      Hmm, well, the best remedy is your natural skin healing process. Therefore, spots will take some time to fade, depending on genetics and the location of the area, which can sometimes take a few weeks or even months.
      However, the issue is that they have been penetrating the deeper layers of the skin, which means that these topical products will not show any significant improvements. Therefore, you may need mechanical treatment, like laser therapy, to see a chance of improvement!
      Regarding acne, it's mostly a matter of food intolerances, possibly inflammation resulting from it, along with hormonal imbalances, etc.
      For me personally, it seems to be related to food additives or, generally speaking, processed foods, but it could also be healthy foods with additives. Making some changes to your diet and monitoring potential triggers is key! I manage it very well this way, only getting a few acne spots here and there, which seem to be random.
      What has worked well for me for active acne is a benzoyl peroxide cleanser, which I apply to my active acne, and a light retinol that I apply 2-3, or sometimes 4, times a week in my evening skincare routine. I've avoided all kinds of moisturizer except for toners or hyaluronic acid serums.
      I have such a routine here that you can try, but remember, lifestyle changes are also necessary. Additionally, if things are really severe, visiting a local doctor for an analysis might be a good step (assuming they are competent in your area, as I am aware that some are just terrible and not worth the title of doctor, merely treatment sales pitchers).

    Is this routine ok for acne discolouration:
    Morning: Cerave Blemish control Cleanser, The ordinary Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA, followed by a sunscreen.
    Evening: Cerave blemish control cleaner, The ordinary retinol 0.5% In squalane ester.
    Anything you would add or change?

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  5 місяців тому +1

      I think using the Blemish Control Cleanser that often will be too much, as it's too drying. So, I would recommend alternating it with another hydrating gel-to-foam cleanser, something like the Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser. Apart from that, it should be alright.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  5 днів тому

      Well you can, but I do not recommend doing that, because products can easily absorb there into the bloodstream which then can cause long term damage, so personally I do not use any skincare nor deodorant products there because of these concern.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  4 місяці тому +1

      Well, we don't know for sure, but since both products are water-based and don't contain any heavy ingredients, it's likely not going to matter much. However, there's a saying that the first product applied to the skin absorbs the best. So, from that perspective, you should use the product that targets your most important concern first, or alternatively, you could alternate their use.
