She's so charming, energetic and very "pixie-like", which I actually think is more fitting than other dancers and routines. She may not be as traditionally graceful, but more playful, which I think is enchanting and captivating to watch.
After having seen multiple dancers and versions, i always come back to watch this interpretation. The final round, the small fairy like subtle and soft movements, the playful attitude has made this my favourite sugarplum fairy of them all.
I have realized i have never properly replied. But yes! Kaptsova has a lovely footing, and I must agree that she seems to be more in sync with the music tempo (peaking with the structuring of her steps in the proper moment).
This is definitely the best coreography for The Sugar Plum Fairy I've ever seen. The movements are clear and cut like crystal, and yet so naturally flowing like it's supposed to be. The ballerina sometimes seems a little robotical, or afraid, sometimes but the beauty of her movements makes it easily forgivable. It's more of a conceptual coreography, some companies do have more classical versions of this dance, also beautiful, but I think this is more like what a real Sugar Plum Fairy would dance. Just gorgeous! (Also sorry for bad english if I let any part of my thoughts unclear or incomprehensible ...)
Of course she's afraid. Do you know what an error would cost herh? This is in Russia, ISABELLA GIGEK. And your English is wonderful! It's better than most Americans speak. God bless you! Thursday, January 11, 2018
This is definitely one of the best choreographed variations I've ever seen, and danced beautifully too. I've been dancing most of my life and this would be a very difficult piece of choreography even to some of the best and most experienced dancers I know, so to perform it at this level is nothing short of unbelievable.
Bolshoi company really has the best choreography for this piece, their musicality goes extremely well with the physicality of the dancer. Also their dancers' footwork is the best I've seen they are strong yet light literally "on pointe" with the music. I love everything about it. I've seen the 2010 version by Nina Kaptsova and was totally "kapt-ivated" by her pixi-like presence. I want to watch them live even if it's once in my life.
This is the best rendition of the Sugar Plum Fairy I've ever seen. I honestly can't believe some people don't find her graceful or find Nina's version better.
She is definitely the best sugar plum fairy dancer I have seen! Amazing footwork and the choregraphy went with the music unlike other sugar plum fairies I've seen!
Wow, I can now appreciate this fully, pointe kills!! And she was hopping around on blocking, amazing, I can hardly do blocking on two feet. Ahhh! So much awesomeness
I think the key defining beauty of Russian ballerinas for this piece specifically is a combination of- Immense pressure for perfection. The emphasis of beauty in face, finger, hand and arm movements- the upper half of the body is just as fluid and technical as the bottom half and the feet. The lightness of the dancer, they always seem much skinnier than other cultures. Not saying that's healthy. The little wing sleeves they wear for this dance piece.. Lol. Just my thoughts.
The music is so beautiful my mom played me that song when i was a baby then dance with me to that song it helped me sleep in fact it still does this song brings back so many memories i miss them so much i wish that could all happen again dancing with your mom to your guy's song for me its ballet same thing for dancing to iv always had a thing for ballet still do i just miss those memories so much this song just as much sorry i wasted your time if you read this just spend time with your mom,dad who ever you live with spend time with them dance sing something just have fun with your family do something your mom loved to do with you as a baby do it with them
Una de las mejores interpretaciones coreográficas que he visto. No he podido encontrar otra en Bolshoi. Los giros y los tiempos perfectos. Una bailarina excelente, toda una maestra de la danza, sigue siendo mi favorita.
Red m&m: ow. Yellow m&m: so you think Santa will like these red, and green m&ms. Red m&m:I don't know I never met that guy, ahhh he does exist. Santa claus: they do exist. Red m&m, and Santa claus faint. Yellow m&m: uhhh santa.
Maybe she is graceful. But Nina's version is much more graceful and more sync with music. And I also think she looks like having a eating disorder, too skinny even as a ballerina.
Also guys you have no clue what art is neither what an eating disorder is you just talk for the sake of sounding grant postmodern nonsense brainlessness!!!!
On youtube there's a video where she played "Pas de deux" and is also beautiful and perfect, If you wanna see it I let you the link: ua-cam.com/video/_b9Afjo2pVU/v-deo.html
Very good performance and interpretation of the choreography. Was a shame she lost her timingduring the turning section at the end and had to compensate by adding in a few extra turns to get herself back in time with the music. She needed more control of her turns and her timing there.
A longer dress with a slightly more traditional skirt and little bit more of a sleeve puff prescience would have better suited her dancing style and personality. In my opinion, the type of costume in the video works best to amplify strong, controlled bounces and movements when dancers do crazy (good crazy) stuff. Like when she twirled, the ripples would have been heavenly. Especially if it was dual-leveled with a sheer upper. Ugh, my artists side is showing.
SweetPigOMine there are a lot of lights, and the audience is HUGE. the people watching have to see her face. So she wears a lot of makeup. It's called stage makeup. It's not normal everyday makeup.

I agree she is so cute, very fairy/pixie like. do you know her name?

Agreed. The best coreography of Sugar Plum Fairy
The last bit is so amazing, definitely my favorite

Bravo, this is the best sugar plum fairy choreography 😊 I love the way the dancer interpreted the character.
yes.. I do imagine a fairy coming out at night and dancing in a playfull and spirited manner Superb!!
The dancer is just amazing! The best I´ve ever seen. And they say that there are no fairies.
Gorgeous ~
I recorded this on DVR last Christmas.......and I save it just to watch this part....amazing, mesmerizing.
Best performance ever! Perfection, precision, quickness and grace!

Best Sugar Plum Fairy I've seen. Extraordinary.
The best Sugar Plum Fairy ever! Amazing!
Just saw Disney's Nutcracker and the four realms. Here to cleanse my palette.
that was INCREDIBLE!!!!! how did she turn so quickly and elegantly?????
so proffesional with emotions. great ballerina !
Always loved this interpretation

Nina Kaptsova es 100 veces mejor. Búscala.
Yo la veo muy robotica

Nina Kaptsova, LA MEJOR!

when was this filmed?????????????????????????????????
Hey, it looks like she is dancing t the music!
Wow! Beautiful!
Is it just me or is the tempo a touch slower than normal? I'm used to hearing it a touch faster.
Lovely just the same.
Who is this dancer please?
She's very beautiful and an excellent ballerina.
Krystle P Natalya Arkhipova
Krystle P Thank you.
Russian Ballet is eternal art!
Wow!
She dances amazingly, one of the best Sugar Plums as performance and choreography...........but who is the ballerina?
Natalia Arkhipova
Perché non si vede la danza per Intero?
Bravo!!!
I want to be a freaking sugar plum fairy!
+PocahantasBam DO IT !
I'm not tall and skinny but I shall try. xP
I like Nina's!! :-D
this is better
sublime
Lovely.
This is better than Balanchine's by a LANDSLIDE
am i the only one who doesn't see her graceful?
Maybe she is graceful. But Nina's version is much more graceful and more sync with music. And I also think she looks like having a eating disorder, too skinny even as a ballerina.
+Cheng Zhao but if she had an eating disorder there is no way she would have been able to have performed like this! i mean wow
That may not be an eating disorder, maybe she is that thin or may be she has hormonal problems or she just works too much
Yes, perhaps as you may have ignorance of gracefulness or blurred vision!!!!
Also guys you have no clue what art is neither what an eating disorder is you just talk for the sake of sounding grant postmodern nonsense brainlessness!!!!
I'd really like to find out the name of the ballet dancer?
Natalia Arkhipova

Ooo, sì. Ora si

The dislikers thought that the dislike icon was Download xD
Is she even real??? Her movement is unlike anything I've seen
who is the name of the dancer in here?
Natalya Arkhipova
I'm wearing my dress.
Incorrect. They're paste and canvas. They're very hard, but they are most definitely not wood. And yes, it can be hard on the toes.
What is the name of the spin from 2:07 to 2:29?
Piroette.
Which spin? That is a combination of Pique turns and Emboites.
Who's the dancer?
Natalya Arkhipova
she´s great but her piruettes are a little bit weak
Seriously? Can you do better? You praise the ballerina and then the next moment pull her down. :(
You don't have to do better in order to pass a judgement.
pink for the tutu though
i think is natalia archipova......
It takes a lot of work to dance ballet. It's not as easy as you think it takes years.
Oh Ok, apologies, I get carried away by passion for ballet, I have seen a lot of abuse in the recent years!
nina kaptsova did so much better
NuttyChipmunk42 Nobody is better than Nina
Well my English is not good so I will just say, I like this one most, she looks like floating and nina much more robotical.....that's my opinion
I agree on this opinion. She's more graceful, I think? Nah I just love her version more but this girl's very good too
You are comparing 2 generations of ballerinas. Dont be ignorant
totally incomparable, both stunning.
Looks painful on the toes.

that might be an overkill.
their shoes have wood blocks in the toes.
She is very beautiful and fluent but not a turner. She also looks fatigued in this as she stumbles and looses control a little bit.
her extension is painfully bad
troll
shes wearing to much makeup
Uhhh that's the point, it's suposed to be like that, so the audience is able to distinguish her face.
It's stage makeup

very STUPID
