My dad worked very hard when I was a child and on his rare days off he would play the nutcracker song in the morning for us to wake up to so we knew he was home. I have such fond memories of it :) I would love to go and see this ballet. It takes me back 29 years and I feel like a 5 year old all over again :)

I'm 24 and I totally agree, Tchaikovsky is absolutely amazing and it pleases me greatly to listen to his music, swan lake is another of my favorites, just mesmerising.

I'm from Brazil, and I've just seen Kirov dancing tonight. It was beautiful, and better: for free. They performed the second act of Swan Lake and also the Chopiana. I loved it, and I also believe more and more people should try to really undstand the feeling of beauty that Ballet brings to us.
Tchaikovsky was so popular because mainly he could write good melodies. Nutcracker is full of them. If composers today got back to giving the audience beautiful melodies they could become as popular. Maybe! I could be the exception. I wrote Piano Concerto No 2 which is on my YT homepage and is full of, I think anyway, beautiful melodies, but so far no record contracts. Perhaps it's the arrangement (midi) I wish I could get LangLang to premiere it. Nutcracker will never go out of style.
if I have a girl when I'm older I'm definitely taking them there! I'll book a 5* hotel and make them feel so special and loved; however expensive it is! It literally looks like a dream of pink marshmallows (which are the ballerinas!) xxx

i herd this on this Tom and Jerry movie about toys coming alive, i was only 4-6 years old and 2 fell in love and something bad happened but i remember i loved this song! It's nice that people still have these old songs!

Those days were so much easier to remember because they were real. Not enhanced in anyway. Even though I listen to hip hop and R&B..(because its my life)... I thoroughly enjoyed sitting here listening to this and watching them perform. I must say, the men look so graceful... for once. Lol..great work guys!xxx
It is one of the most recognized ballets in the world. The Kirov Ballet at the Mariinsky theater. This is the same ballet who debuted Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker in 1892. They, in my opinion, deserve our respect.

I'm going to see The Nutcracker ballet on 27th of December at the Polish National Opera. I'm so excited! : D I bought tickets 3 months ago and since then I really really can't wait. It's gonna be so magical! : D Christmas time, snow, me and my sister in beautiful dresses, the ballet, THAT atmosphere : 3 Ah, I love ballet~!

The Kirov is the top of the line--they raise the bar with athletism, grace and artistry that no other co. can seem to match. Good choreography, too.
