great tutorial ! but may I ask what gpu you got in you system ? Because sadly I get VRAM errors very often wehn I experiment with the pyro tag, and even when I follow you step by step i get "maximum vram allocated" after about 80 frames. I have a 3080 so is there a setting that I am missing or is my GPU just to weak for pyro :D because with the new cloth system everything is working fine so I don't think my gpu is broken
Thank you so much for the tutorial. I'm trying to simulate pyro acting for the first time. But there's a problem. I've worked on it the same as your tutorial, but when I render it, I get low resolution with noise. I want to render it as clearly as your tutorial, so can you tell me why? And I'd appreciate it if you could tell me the size of the output screen as well!
So great tutorial - but Pyro developed already --- so i don't get it fixed in this nice and liquid look and don't find any newer fitting tutorials. Any idea?
When exporting a pyro scene (2023.2) in Octane with passes, I sometimes get the message "Displaying volume processing pass" - that seems to be going on forever and any interaction with the software creates a freezup.
EJ, thanks so much this looks great as always! I have a question regarding a project I'm working on.. I need to loop an animation similar to this. I know looping the randomness of pyro is hard if not impossible.. But do you know any way to kill of the density/smoke/ink in an instant or having it fade out to end in a "blank" space so that I can build a work around of starting and ending with no smoke at all?
Thanks for watching!! So I just tested this out - you can keyframe the Density Enabled and the Temperature Enabled checkboxes that are found under the Pyro Emitter Tag tab, if you keyframe the from checked on to OFF the very next frame, it essentially shuts it off. Hope that's what you're looking for!
great tut always... just one question, i use Ocgtane, do you have e tut on this how to get the same visual effect with Octane render? Redshift is very cool by the way... ;-)
Always love your tutorials EJ! It may be a bug but I do not the pyro object showing up (C4D 2024 Apple M1). Oddly enough, it showed up earlier in the day??? Any ideas? 🤔
@@eyedesyn personally I'd love to have a fluid workflow with my colleagues working on different software. So being able to edit and keep files sharable with others would be amazing. Also as we use now Unreal so often, USDs sound like an incredible solution. Is C4D capable to do that already?
As always perfect tutorial, thank you. I have a crazy idea (i send that idea to MAXON Team, and they maybe said: does this guy have a brain or jelly liquid): Well, The idea is about the maxon cinema 4d and redshift, the pricing is high especially for guys like me (non-commercial use, just for fun and learning). So i just asked if they can make a new subscription like ( isotropix Clarisse team) they have a version called PLE ( Personal Learning Edition) with just some watermarks and limitation in rendering and coding etc... all for free. So, i hoped you can deliver my idea, to make a lot of people use the MAXON without any issues or risks, and especially avoid cracked versions. Thank you again.
Pyro is soooo cool! However I have a badass rig (3090TI) 128gb ram and chaching does the first half pretty fast but then slows to a crawl and crashes even at 1cm resolution. When I render without caching it gets really splotchy about halfway through, probably when it runs out of vram. If I look at my task manager while caching it's mostly using CPU and memory not GPU, is there a way to switch to GPU caching?
Hey EJ, great tutorial btw! I am finding that a vertical and a horizontal line appear right through the middle of the volume. It's subtle and changes a bit as the animation happens but I actually noticed it on yours as well. If you look at your intro ink drops you can see a horizontal line appear occasionally. Any ideas? I'm going to try to offset the animation from the world zero and test again but thought it was a bit weird and worth a flag
@@ianmanndesign hey!! I've tried moving it completely away and i still have the horizontal & vertical lines 😥 do you happen to have any other fixes on this? Thank you!! 🙏
EJ 💘 thank you! you're my favourite Cinema coach on UA-cam
Thanks so much Dariia! Means a ton!
Just in time! I was about the work on a project with this effect in mind.
Awesome hope you find this helpful!
Great tutorial EJ! Best C4D vids on UA-cam
glad you enjoyed it! thank for watching!!
The results look amazing! Can't wait to dive in.
Hope you enjoy it!
Just dropping some ink in here... : ) Thanks EJ!
hahah thanks so much! appreciate it!
Thank you! my favorite speed of getting valuable info
Glad it was helpful!
where is "Object voxel size" in Cinema 4D 2024???? They change Cinema 4D interface drastically in every version...
I'm on the latest version of C4D and many of these don't options look similar anymore 🤬. Is there a way to switch my settings to view it like this?
THNX FOR UR HONESTLY TO TEACHING.THANK U EJ!👏💗💗
My pleasure!! Thanks for the awesome comment!!!!
@@eyedesyn followed you from Algeria 🇩🇿🥰
Hi... tutorial may bee too old. Everything has changed and there is not a voxel size at the top of the tag list
Lol funny part is that this tutorial isn’t that old it’s just C4D keeps changing things so fast! 😵💫😵💫😵💫😵💫
Such a good and clear tutorial, been struggling with getting my head around stuff on redshift and yours are by far the easiest to follow! Thanks 😊
You're very welcome! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this nice tutorial :)
You're welcome 😊
So glad more and more of this functionality is coming packaged with C4D! Thanks as ever for walking through it :).

Same with 3070 8go. I guess it's time to get a second hand 3090 with 24Go ;)
I got a 3090 actually! I made this short on ways to help avoid those errors! ua-cam.com/users/shorts9bXCYrs0W2k

To think 10 years ago I was doing this with a huge glass fish tank or bowl and food coloring with a Vid Camera lol
nothing can replace the ol manual way but at least this way is much less clean up! haha
@@eyedesyn Definitely... no multiple trips from sink to display and then trying to figure out how to empty it. Shop-vac... hahaha
Fantastic tutorial!

oh weird I've not messed with pyro in 2023.2 yet I'll have to see if I get that error
Hi EJ, thank you for so cool tutorial! I hope will be continue with pyro sim. Does this system has a some possibilities work with colliders?
Yep! You can just apply collider tags to objects and the fire sims will work with it
As always great lesson. Love your tutorials EJ
Thanks a million!
Great stuff man!
Thanks very much!
Thank you for all the GREAT videos ... do I need redshift to render pyro?

Great tut EJ! Love the new Pyro features in C4D. The sim times hum along nicely with my RTX 3080Ti :)
Very nice! Thanks for watching!!!
This is just awesome! Thank you very much, EJ! AI cannot replace you, so far, I think.

EJ, can you tell us more about USD files in Cinema?
I find it yet confusing and hard to find decent tutorials on that.
What specifically do you want to know about USD files?

At 20:40, In my Volume Material, I don't have a drop down option in the Absorption section for Pyro (Default) in the Presets.
You have to activate Color in the Pyro object properties.
What Lennard said! 🙏
EJ, the gumroad project file link is broken
Fixed it! Thanks for letting me know!
you the man
You are!
How do you scale it up - I need it to interact with other objects in a scene as if it was in a tank. this would be too small.
Great! ..but is it possble (and how) to render Pyro object with Corona Renderer (v9)?
Every modern renderer has volume materials so I’d say yes!
Awesome stuff as usual EJ. Thanks for the constant knowledge share :)
Thanks for watching!!!
You always have the best tutorials in the industry. Thank you so much! I wonder what your PC specs are, though
Aw shucks appreciate that man!!!!
I haven't even touched pyro yet. This looks great, though.
