This was my first Xbox 360. Got it in 2013. I was a Wii kid growing up, so I didn't get a 360 or PS3 until way later on because I felt like I had to defend my choice of console lol.
Lol that was the first console they let me play shooters on, my first was halo 4 and I still love it to this day, those graphics were revolutionary for the day.
@@adrianlugo1130 I didn't like the story direction or anything but man I was shocked how much better Halo 4 looks vs Halo 3 cuz that's the same system. Made me wonder what the point of the Xbox 1 was.
@@bland9876 the story is pretty good, gameplay of prometheans weren't but everything else was pretty good. It was way better than halo 5 and I still prefer the original trilogy and halo infinite
@@adrianlugo1130 yep the original trilogy is the best not sure why in ODST you can't use equipment but they still let the enemies use it kind of annoying. Also it's hard to tell what kind of health you're at VS the first game.
Same thing I got my 360 at that year at a pawn shop and it was really lasting good for me I was happy I never Got red ring of death I had a black 500gb it wasn't this console but I think I got one of the good motherboard lol
My first 360 was an E actually. I had a PlayStation 2 up until that point and was in dire need of a newer system. It's so odd seeing people not knowing what this model was. To me, it was the main 360.
It's odd to you because it was a console you spent a lot of time with. For most people, we had the 360 at launch, the one that was notorious for the RROD. Then we had the S model. Since Microsoft only spent about a minute showing and talking about the E model, and since everyone, back then, was focused on all the Xbox One controversy (online required, Kinect required, TV, sports, TV, etc.), it's understandable how people missed the E.
For me the E was also the first. I bought it together with my little brother, my parents didn’t have any money at al so we had to buy it, since the Xbox one was way to expensive for us. But yeah there are a lot of Xbox 360 models. I think at one moment I had them al, all second hand of course just to try them out. But for me the E was the best. But yeah that is just my opinion.
Neat tip about the Xbox 360 E: the composite cables are compatible with the Raspberry Pi systems as well. If ya need a source of cables for those, old Xbox 360 E ones are a good safe bet.
@D-Ron Jamarkus Robinson my fair guess that could be many reasons. First of all, it's easier to make codenames than plain numbers (especially when you need to copyright it later). And it's funny and easy to remember (and market if that matters). Macintosh is an apple variety, thats earlies example i can make. Also somwhere at google they have all sweet android statues.
I bet so many people who panicked about the Xbox One spying on its users welcomed Amazon Alexa into their homes. I think everyone was right to be concerned about it, but all the companies started doing similar services and everyone went along with it anyway.
It was the used games stuff that pissed people off the most and ofcourse them pushing TV and movies after the beloved 360. No wonder the Xbox one struggled.. the 360 days were truly the best.
The best example: FaceBook Portal Then during an interview, Zuckerberg stated; "The last thing we want are cameras in our livingrooms" I don't think they sold many of those.
A bit of an overreach. People would rightfully be up in arms if you couldn't even play second hand games anymore, or your own disc if you happened to be offline for a while. Calling people hypocrites just because of the backlash is a conflation of *many* issues (not just one) that this presentation could have led to and seems rather narcissistic to me.
I remember that E3. What an absolute train wreck. "Tone deaf" doesn't exactly do it justice. This was also right when the Snowden NSA leaks came out, so everyone was freaked out about the Kinect always listening. The 360 E was about the only good thing that came out of it. Was a lot nicer piece of kit than the PS3 Super Slim.
And now people are fine with having microphones in controllers, always listening to you. Same for Smart Speakers like Alexa or Siri. No one cares anymore. Microsoft was just ahead of the time, like they often are.
@@ohmnesia Microsoft's problem is that they weren't offering anything people wanted in exchange for the presence of those microphones and cameras. People like Siri because they can ask a question and get an answer. If you could do that with Kinect, I'm sure people would've welcomed that. But all Microsoft offered was voice commands that people already did via remote control by simply pressing a button. Microsoft acted as if changing the channel on your TV was this super-futuristic thing. lol Also, I remember when there was talk of Microsoft wanting to use Kinect to sense how many people were in the room, to limit the number of people who could watch a rented movie. If too many people were in the room, the movie you rented wouldn't play. That was the idea, and I remember that people just hated that.
I remember when the Xbox One came out, and I was excited because the 360 was going to be cheaper because of its release. As a 14 year old I thought that the 360 graphics were still good even for an old console, and I was excited to finally have my own console that I didn't need to share with my family. Definitely my favorite console of all time, and some of the memories I had from that time are moments that I would want to relive.
What's kinda sad is all of the stuff that Microsoft tried to do 10 years ago is being cheered and embraced now. They were ahead of the curve and digital has taken over physical and people are seemingly OK with online and digital restrictions. Once again, convenience has won the market and I'm torn on it.
They were also fined for Monopolistic practices. Now we cheer as they buy up all these software companies. Nothing better for capitalism than megacorps owning everything. Game exclusivity should only last 1 - 2 years. More unit sales for developers, still gives added incentive for consumers console of choice.
Convenience always wins, implementation always matters. 'all of the stuff that Microsoft tried to do 10 years ago is being cheered and embraced now'. That's not true. You might have a closer case if Microsoft didn't bother to release a disc version Series. Even then one time checks for Smart Delivery could be considered a necessary evil for an increasingly online world. Plus after it's done, you can still go offline for as long as you want, play whenever you want, or give your game away to whoever you want if you please. The online service based model may have been the goal that Microsoft wanted to reach, but they absolutely took a different path getting there than they originally intended. I think it's something to be thankful for.
Yea, it's all super convenient until you get messaged to your dashboard from Microsoft or Sony saying you can't play this game anymore cuz its Developers have decided to pull it from the servers, or etc. Happened on my PS4 with the Bioshock remastered collection.... went to boot it up, after an update and before any of the logos, or main menu, there was a 30 page thing to read and accept before I could play, that stated Bioshock Trilogy Remastered is NOT my game, it's Take2's game and they reserve the right to decide who gets to play it or if it's playable at all. And that the game is subject to be removed from the store at any time under various circumstances, and could, depending on licensing, need to be repurchased by me in the event it's removed and reuploaded to the store. And all new games have that metadata built in to them. So you can't search or say bad things on your console internet browser or in chat, cuz if you get banned, you can't play the game you paid $80 for. And also even if you're a good boy, the devs could decide you don't own it cuz of their own licensing issues at any time. I mean I still play mainly digital games..... but it's worth knowing.
I’m kinda impressed that you can still buy games off XBLA and they haven’t mentioned shutting it down. My only gripe is they promised they would do full Xbox backwards compatibility like the Wii and og PS3 but really they stopped far too early like right after I decided to give away my beloved Xbox. Games like Battlefield 2 or SSX tricky I’ll never be able to play until I get another og Xbox.
I actually bought one of these 2nd hand a few months ago because I wanted a 360 that runs cooler, it was instantly noticeable in everything I did. I also liked the design of the revision as opposed to the weird looking concave shape of the previous versions.
@@JJ8RG I got that one too it came with black ops 2 and Ghost always ran so cool I just recently changed the stock thermal paste and it’s back to normal
I own 2 of these. Got one for $75 new at target on clearance and another one console only for about $13 at a 2nd and Charles as untested. Happy to report it worked flawlessly!
My dad got me this one then 2 years later an xbox one. This got me into the xbox ecosystem but it was a very reliable system never had a problem with it still works to this day
I got one of these last year when someone dumped one in front of my old work place. Thing is beat up as hell and is missing the tray bezel and side panels along with some rust on the metal shell but did have the power brick right next to it. Was very surprised when I tested it that it works great and the only thing wrong with it other than looks is the eject button sometimes doesn't respond.
i would give that thing a good clean as by now it would be filled with dust especially without the side panels, also the thermal past is probably died up
The eject button not working is a common thing with all models of 360. Dirt and other stuff gets bound up with the rubber band that works the gear system for the tray. It has to be cleaned off and it’ll start working again properly.
I own this and still use it from time to time. Recently(In December) I returned to Metro 2033 and Halo 2 and on Xbox 360. Still my favourite console that I own.
The original black colored Xbox 360 (with the removable faceplates on the front) was the "Xbox 360 elite" and it had the 250gb hard drive that took up about 3/4ths the side of the console and snapped into the little proprietary port stocking out. But the base models were white and just came with a 20gb hard drive that was the Same physical size and shape as the elite 250gb HD..but you could just buy the 250gb HDD and put it in any first gen 360 and it was the same thing as an elite. (Except at some point they began adding HDMI ports above the older HD video out and that might have been the other incentive to buy the elite model. But then once they switched over to the slim Xbox 360 with the annoying touch on button....where your cat could walk by and it's tail would literally brush against the console and turn it off 🤣 Those actually had the 4GB built in or soldered to the motherboard for the base model, and then a 250Gb/ 500GB little black SATA HD that slid inside of the Xbox after removing the plastic grate on the side. (But by that time they had pushed out the update to make it possible to use USB thumb drives and USB external Hard drives to play movies, music, and save games to it. Don't think any gaming console in History had as many different generations/and models than the 360 ... that still works/supported today....even after they lost ridiculously amounts of money from never making any profit from console sales from having to fix ALL RROD consoles by law and then give Those fixed replacement consoles a new 2 year warranty for free.
This was my first Xbox 360 and the main reason I am into online gaming as much as I am now. It completely sucked me into the world of online gaming and Xbox Live Party chats, and I’ve never looked back (outside of a brief run with the PS4 from 2015-2017, because of the failures from the Xbox One). I loved my Xbox 360, and it’s still my favorite system of all time! So many good games, so many good friends, so much Xbox Live beef and drama, it was the most fun I’ve ever had! Back in 2013, Minecraft paired with Black Ops 2 and some friends (in my case, my sister, cousins, and our online friends) was the best!! We used to make our own Minecraft Hunger Games maps and Mini Game maps, and that was always a lot of fun! We’d also jump into a Black Ops 2 private lobby and try to defend the top-bunk of the bed in one of the houses on Nuketown. Man, I could go on and on for hours. That was still the most fun I’ve ever had gaming, and 8 years later, it still has never been matched for me. I’m hoping the Series X|S era will shape up to be the big return of Xbox to the greatness that it once was!
I actually really liked this revision. Was lucky to find a store still selling these brand new a few years ago for used prices. So I have the blue one used and the black one sealed brand new.
I remember these consoles were famous for not having any possibility of red ring of death. The reason being the indicator ring has no red lights in it.
Got one preowned back in 2017 for $50 on eBay. I wanted to preserve my S console and have my S as my backup 360. Honestly I see no difference between the S and the E other than the aesthetics. Took them both apart to repaste them and clean them and it is practically the same board and fan.
Early E consoles use the Corona board. Newer E (2014) consoles have the Winchester board. You can put the Corona E board in a Slim case but the power socket won’t match.
@@maybebabyny the newer E board is the Winchester. The easiest way to tell if it’s Winchester is to take it apart and check cpu/gpu. Corona boards have a heat spreader but Winchester does not. The only difference really is that the Winchester is impossible to do the RGH hack on so that’s why people tend to avoid them. As far as reliability of a Winchester I would assume it’s pretty reliable as they are the newest 360 consoles, but the only issues is that you can’t mod them.
I bought 2 brand new 360 "E" models with the 500GB HDD right before MS officially stopped making them. I love them, finally bulletproof consoles I still use today from the awesome music player to the numerous 360 games not backwards compatible on the One-X.
@EthanWasMe A smart move, I had another with many miles on my 2009 Elite 360 so I gifted it to a friend needing one & picked up the 2 new ones as my primary 360 & a back up as I have hundreds of Xbox 360 games to enjoy for years to come.
Picked up one of these a couple years ago as my first Xbox of any kind almost exclusively to play Lost Odyssey. Great system, very happy with it, certainly worth the ~$140.
I actually still have this system chilling in my room. I never use it anymore because the HDMI port on the back broke and now it doesn't work so I have to use the AV connector which has a max of 480P quality. I had some great memories on this little console though.
Regardless of whether Dan Mattrick was right, it didn't make him look confident in the new console when his solution for people without internet access was to go buy the previous one. It reminds me of that interview Steve Ballmer did with CNET many years ago about Zune, and when he was asked if he uses a Zune for his morning runs, he said that he instead used an old-school FM radio headset. It's important to demonstrate to your customers that your new product will meet everyone's needs without alternative products being required to fill in the gaps.
After having 3 OG 360s red ring on me I gave up on Microsoft. I stayed out of the Xbox ecosystem until about 2 years ago and bought an E 250Gb after researching every model. It's been phenomenal.
@TheLongDon nope, the 360 was their strongest console, because of the exclusive and because it doesn't force its users to be connected to the internet to be able to do the most basic function of a console "play games".
Last year my little cousin who’s 7 wanted his own console and I got him this model of Xbox 360, it was very affordable and I was able to set him up with Minecraft and a lot of other fun kids/racing games. Because it’s a bit newer it was in good condition and doesn’t have the same worries as an older 360 red-ringing. Also the fan in the console I got him was fairly quiet but I remember my older 360 Slim used to make my dog nervous from the sound of it vibrating but that was probably just an isolated thing with my Xbox, really good video Jon and congrats on the new addition to your family :)
LOVE the 360. Still have mine plugged in. Until I can find a Series X, that 360 has been my main box for about 11 years. UPDATE: I got a Series X :) After almost 12 years, I shall lay my 360 to rest. It’s been through enough.
@@d4m1n2 I finally got one from Walmart, they had a massive restock the past 3 days. The consoles were in stock & available for multiple hours, and you didn’t have to have their premium+ membership. The 2 year hunt is finally over
This was actually my first console that i ever got way back in late 2013. It was given to me on birthday and like was kept in the living room which the reason was given was that it was for someone else. But I still have it even after 9 years later and still working. Probably gonna go for a new console soon, but this will console will always have a special place in my heart.
I have that 360! I picked it up at an estate sale. I like the 1/8th inch audio jack in the back ehich is great for Rocksmith and Rockband . It teaches me to play my Bass Ukulele
I went through 9 360s through out the product cycle. My E made #10 and I loved it. So quiet and cool while running, still have it and it works. I snagged it when #9 started overheating, but I wasn't entirely convinced on the xbox one.
I actually grabbed one last year, and never even knew of the E variant. I managed to find a xbox 360 E in teal and blue with a 500gb hdd which I've never seen anywhere before its pretty cool tbh.
I remember seeing these in 500GB models. I had the 360 elite (still do) so I never thought about upgrading because I'd bought the disaster XB1 and PS4 at the time. I'm glad those guys who used to run Xbox are gone.
A tip for the scratched glossy surfaces: use some meguiars polish (for cars) on a microfiber cloth. Brings back a lot of shine and gloss. Apply a thin layer of car wax afterwards to protect the surface. I recently did that on my 360E and PS3 Super Slim and it turned out really well. I also put an SSD in the PS3 which shortens the in-game and XMB loading times and makes it feel a lot snappier. Still looking to install one in the 360E as well but it's not as easy as on the PS3.
I bought my 360 Elite in the spring of 2010 and still have it now and it works fine yet. I tested it not long ago. Manufactured in September 2009. But in the fall of 2013 when the Xbox One first came out, I decided to pick up the 360 E because stores were blowing them out for $199 Canadian brand-new at the time and I wanted one as a back-up. Actually it was a good decision because of the additional hard drive space and also it was quieter than my old Elite. I have not turned it on for quite some time now but I still have it and it also still worked fine last I used it. I bought my model 1540 Xbox One in February of 2016 and am still running it now as my main Xbox.
Good you skipped the entire bad generation of the Xbox one lol. The 360 was phenomenal and the new Xbox seem to be back on track from that turd Xbox one.
I have three of these in the 500gb variety. They are vastly superior in cooling, noise, and everything else. If you're a big 360 fan like me then you'll wanna have spares of these lying around.
I actually got one of these for cheap a while back and it’s been in really good condition! It looks really nice and I just like the design overall. The one thing that concerns me about it is that it blows a lot of heat to the point where I feel like I could burn myself if I keep my hand on the 360 for long enough. I don’t know if it’s just a thing with mine or if this is common with all E models, but my original white 360 never felt that hot.
This way my childhood Xbox growing up. It is still the Xbox 360 that I think of when someone mentions the 360. I never got anything new as a kid we were poor. Now that’s not to say I never went without food on the table and I rarely ever went without a roof over my head. But still I grew up poor. I wasn’t able to get an Xbox 360 until way late into its life style when my family finally started to get a financial break. This was that Xbox and let me tell you for all the shit it gets that fucking thing was a trooper. As a kid I would get mad and beat the hell out if it. But of course it never broke. I wish I kept it. But later in my life I traded it for a PC. I found out was stolen.
This was my first 360 and I actually have some fond memories on this console, interesting enough this was kinda the console that transitioned our family from a “boobtube” TV to a more modern HD TV, took my family a long time to get with the times so to speak, still kinda does, my parents went 4K only just this year and it’s not an extremely fancy 4K TV either
Dude don’t worry about it. I’m 26 and just got my first 4k TV last year. My first 4k tv was a cheap Insignia one. Now that I have a good paying job and live with my wife, I bought an LG G1 a few months ago. It’s incredible. I was super happy with that Insignia TV and never paid more than $399 for one prior to owning my LG unit lol. Been there haha
As time goes on I'm slowly going back to those times tbh. Our 4k started dying (so we now have a 1080p) and when I move out I'm probably getting a Sony Trinitron Wega CRT
Got one of these, it was made in 2015, so one of the very last ones (Winchester revision I think). Bought it end of January 2017 for the ridiculous price of 99€. It's the 500GB version with Forza Horizon 2 included. In hindsight I wished I bought another one as spare. I don't know if all E models have this but the fan on mine is extremely silent and seems to spin very slow. The little fan in the power supply is more noticeable. Also because of this the plastic cover gets very hot and emits a chemical smell, took forever to go away. Always smelled like plastic smoldering. Nonetheless it proved to be very sufficient at keping it cool, proven by the fact that I cover the console with a small towel to protect the glossy part from dust and I forgot to take the towel off with it running for like 1 or 2 hour sometimes before I noticed it. One time it just crashed. I was always very angry at myself for forgetting to remove the towel but I hope it didn't cause any long term damage. I think the console is supposed to shut down and display a message that it overheated? Having that never happened I guess even with the fan covered it never reached that temperature threshold? Anyways to prolong it's lifespan I connected an aftermarket fan adapter to the fan that makes it run 50% faster and guess what, it still is very quiet. It's a mystery to me why they made the fan spin that slow and it never changes speed, even when covered. Maybe it's just that very last revision that has these super slow fans. I'd like to know from other owners. For many it might be the ugly duckling in the model range but for me it was very affordable and I could finally catch up on all the great Forza games and other exclusive titles and I am still actively using it, still have a lot of unplayed games.
My 360E also has the same smell, I've read quite a few people have had the same smell with the 360D's so just put it down to normal on that model use to use mine a lot when I got it, back in 2015 but it was like brand new even though second hand as was the box so bought another slim so as to keep my 360E like new and as back up, love the 360.
One of the nicest things about a matte finish (laptops, game systems, etc) is that light scratches are nearly invisible. Even really scratched up units don’t look awful. - The glossy asthetic stuff is ruined by a few long scratches.
This is the Xbox 360 model I own. It actually just reached 10 years old this year as it was manufactured in 2013. It has served me well over the years.
I picked up that blue 500g model last year. Changed thermal paste and it works great. Also came with the blue matching controller. Until I can get my hands on a Series X, I'll be playing original Xbox Buffy discs on this. 🙂
I still occasionally play my original Xbox 360 (not to be confused for the original Xbox console). It still runs like a monster… well, when it was considered a monster. It is dwarfed now. Same thing with my original Xbox One from 2013. I still play it daily, and it runs RDR2 without any overheating, lag, or crashes. It’s a beast. Can’t do that on PS4 without it sounding like a Jet Engine. The only console I think I haven’t owned was a PS3. I even had an original tomagachi, and that came out decades before I was born
This was my first experience with the xbox. I have a huge soft spot for it and it was such a fun little console. My brother and I got this as our family couldn’t afford the brand new Xbox one and hardly any games were out so they got us this.
This Xbox 360 was my first gaming device and I got it in 2015. And it's funny because I just bought a Xbox one (299$) recently and It broke within 2-3 months, but my 360 (90$ or below) still runs like a charm. tbh I would just buy a 360 rather than a next gen console. And it's not just me who thinks this, for a console 17 years old it's community is rather large. And you can walk into pretty much any retro store and get 5-6 games for under 50$.
No one remembers? Everyone remembers and remembers well. The 360 was a great console. It brought amazing memories especially the online feature. Also pretty much perfected the controller. No need to even tweak it afterwards. PS is still trying to catch up to the 360’s controller.
I bought one of these when my slim broke and I still have it, it’s the last console I’ve ever bought so it’s kind of special to me. I’ve switched to pc
I had one of the early 360's and when I plugged it back in after a few years to play the Fable remaster, it almost chewed up the game. I decided to get a new 360 as the Xbox One left that bad taste in my mouth. This is the 360 Best Buy had and it was/is so much more reliable from what I've seen compared to my old one and friends of mine who had 360's. Mine also didn't have a connect. I think it came with a Tomb Raider digital code? I might be wrong on that part.
Just got this 360 in January when I sold the s model that I had back in 2016. It's working so far so good and glad I returned to an Xbox 360 console after 5.5 years.
Just curious- do you have plans to apply new thermal paste and get that 360 cleaned up and in good working shape? Wouldn't mind seeing a video where you do that and explore the performance, how games run, and what it's like to have one in 2022.
My first and only 360. Got it when I was 14 going into highschool. I remember it clear as day. 3/15/14, officially purchased at 12:22. Cashier name, kenneth. At GameStop with my best friend at the time. He had been introducing me to what it's like to play the 360 months before and I felt it was time to get it. I begged my mom to let me dip into my savings to buy it and had to heavily convince her. Games, bo2, halo 4 and Minecraft. I'm 22 currently and will be 23 in july. Ever since then, I've kept it factory stock and no repairs what so ever, gt has changed only once, and it's helped me to understand building computers as in the past my tinkerer brain just couldn't help itself but other than just to take it apart and learn. Still to this day, I have the receipt. A special keep sake and reminder of my happiest moments on some of these games and what would truly change my life and how I'd go about it from then on.
I bought this 360 a couple days ago and couldn’t find much content on it back then. I got this in my recommendation today and I appreciate it. New Subscriber your way!
For some reason growing up I had no interest in upgrading from my PS2 and Wii, so I didn't get a 360 until Easter 2014. I picked the E model because I never liked the weird shape of the S. I love this thing, the 360 might be my favorite console or at least top 3. Unfortunately my system has been having issues the last month or so with the disc tray getting stuck. Still plays games fine, I just have to whack the system occasionally to get the tray to open. Is that something that's easily fixed? Side note how do people let their systems get so scratched and scuffed up? The glossy part on mine, after cleaning off the dust, still looks new after 8 years. What the hell happened to this one?
I still have the 1st generation Elite that's that off grey. I think it's a falcon? She still kicks, with a Halo Reach controller. The disk drive doesn't work, but a lot of my games are on demand anyway and i have all my favorites downloaded. It literally sat torn apart for maybe 5-6 years cause I was trying to fix it or replace the drive. I had the slim with the touch button at one point, but it started overheating a lot so I got rid of it. Put the Elite back together with some new thermal paste, cleaned everything. Runs dead silent, all you hear is the HDD. I waited until the One S came out to get one. End of 2016. Traded it in at a pawn shop for a One X and got it for $150, then resold it later after I built a PC for $350 🤣 My brother had this one though, I remember his having some heat issues.
@@z-herb8006 yea but the way Don said it was more like “Deal with an all in one entertainment box that requires to be connected to the internet at all times or just buy a 360 if you’re gonna complain.” It wasn’t the fact us players have 0 internet access. It was more “why do I require to be online at all times when I’m playing single player?“
Has Microsoft changed any of the components within any of the Series Consoles like Sony has with the PS5?? I can't remember the part, but the changed something from Copper to Aluminum.
@@morpheuslordofoneiroi3293 They have changed something with the series x I had a day 1 series x and then got the halo edition one and there are more vent holes open at the back on the halo one then the launch one so something has changed just don't know what
Got my 360E second hand and it was a scratched mess, easy fix, 2000 grit wet and dry and a buffing machine with cutting compound and with a bit of work it looked like new
I got this Model in 2014 when my Xbox 360 Slim died, I already Had my Xbox One at that point, around the same time I had to send my Xbox One back because the Disc Drive was recalled, Eventful year I must say. Unpopular Opinion, I love the Kinect.
I remember the sensor disc drive opening at my friend's place when he was playing. He was getting somewhere after struggling alot. Then here comes his dog, she walked his console on the floor, disc came out, dude went nuts. It was so hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bought this E model as my first console in 2013 with 250 Gb hard drive, Halo 4 and Tomb Raider bundled in. Have been choosing between this and 12 Gb super slim PS3 with The Last of Us and, to be honest, I think I chose wisely. Great system with tons of good games. Love it. Still has it hook to a TV and I'm still playing it from time to time. Recently upgraded it with 500 Gb HDD to install my digital games in case of MC decides to shut 360's servers.
I have one stashed away. I bought it a few years ago on Ebay because I had never heard of it before and when I saw it listed, I was blown away. I had no idea there was an "E" Xbox 360 model
I have the blue Xbox 360 e and actually love it. The form factor is perfect but it is a pain to take apart due to all the clips that hold it together. I feel like I'm going to break it every time
Yeah I made a few scratches in that middle back part where the clip is that is hardest to remove and I'm very nitpicky, so that was quite annoying. Luckily you can hardly see the scuffs when it is put back together.
I am sure everyone that had one remembers it :) . I still use one of my 360's with the main tv along side my Series X for the games that are not compatible. It's not an E though it's a Modern Warfare ltd edition one. Still going strong.
Honestly while I do admit I loved the Xbox Kinect for 360 it was a pain in the neck to even try to control the characters that are given to you heck I had that High School Musical 3 DDR full pad and everything for the Xbox 360 and even that made games easier.
I got the E-model in 2014 instead of the One because I already had a reasonably powerful gaming PC (i7-4770k, gtx 770), and wasn't counting on a console to deliver the "next gen" experience. I basically just used it to play games I wasn't able to play on PC before, like Halo 3, 4, Bayonetta, Metal Gear Solid 2, 3... etc. I ended up modding this console later.
This is my current 360. Bought it advertised as preowned this year but it arrived brand new all factory sealed. I love it, runs perfectly alongside my Series X
I have a couple of these. I actually really like it. It is much quieter than my older 360s and it also stays cool really well. Pair that with it being small and light and it is my favorite 360 console
I own an E! I mostly bought it because it was a sleek-looking 360 that I knew I could keep around for a while. I actually played (the original) Forza Horizon on it last year - still going strong.
This is the only Xbox 360 I remember because I always go to my local console cafe and yes, this was the only Xbox 360 model they have. It's just crazy this was almost 5 years ago.

But yeah that is just my opinion.
same lol i had the ps2 and then the 360 E
I didn’t know the e existed till like a year ago. I have mw2 edition 360(first gen) and mw3 (s model)
Same!
I stepped away from 360 in 2010. Years later I picked one of these models up. I like it a lot. It’s relatively quiet and hasn’t let me down yet.
Its the only 360 that hasnt broken on me, yet.

Neat tip about the Xbox 360 E: the composite cables are compatible with the Raspberry Pi systems as well. If ya need a source of cables for those, old Xbox 360 E ones are a good safe bet.
i bet any 3.5 to 3 RCA is good
@the Game, Review and Reallife Channel small single board PC
@D-Ron Jamarkus Robinson my fair guess that could be many reasons. First of all, it's easier to make codenames than plain numbers (especially when you need to copyright it later). And it's funny and easy to remember (and market if that matters). Macintosh is an apple variety, thats earlies example i can make. Also somwhere at google they have all sweet android statues.
@D-Ron Jamarkus Robinson Why not ? got to name it something. May as well be something tasty.
I bet so many people who panicked about the Xbox One spying on its users welcomed Amazon Alexa into their homes.
I think everyone was right to be concerned about it, but all the companies started doing similar services and everyone went along with it anyway.
What can I say people are hypocrites
It was the used games stuff that pissed people off the most and ofcourse them pushing TV and movies after the beloved 360. No wonder the Xbox one struggled.. the 360 days were truly the best.
I didn't. I don't have any of that shit in my house. I also still use old phones i can manually remove the battery from.
The best example:
FaceBook Portal
Then during an interview, Zuckerberg stated; "The last thing we want are cameras in our livingrooms"
I don't think they sold many of those.
Facts.. big ps3 boi and tought that super slim was ugly
I still unplug a lot of listening devices when I’m at home lol it drives my wife nuts probably doesn’t help much since toasters listen now lol
Facts!!!!!
@@ohmnesia
Microsoft's problem is that they weren't offering anything people wanted in exchange for the presence of those microphones and cameras. People like Siri because they can ask a question and get an answer. If you could do that with Kinect, I'm sure people would've welcomed that. But all Microsoft offered was voice commands that people already did via remote control by simply pressing a button. Microsoft acted as if changing the channel on your TV was this super-futuristic thing. lol
Also, I remember when there was talk of Microsoft wanting to use Kinect to sense how many people were in the room, to limit the number of people who could watch a rented movie.
Ironic how Gran Turismo, Sony’s staple and biggest franchise from the start, is an online-only game now.
I actually bought one of these 2nd hand a few months ago because I wanted a 360 that runs cooler, it was instantly noticeable in everything I did. I also liked the design of the revision as opposed to the weird looking concave shape of the previous versions.

Same here still my favourite console, and era of gaming. Some great games still collecting for it now.
I love the casual transition to him using a giant screwdriver
I had a matte model that come with either a 250gb or 320gb hard drive (cant remember) so it wasnt just exclusively the 4gb model

Single barrel was in no way inferior to other power supply style. It was actually an improvement. If it costs less that's just a bonus.
@@IMDYT420 is it possible on the console to identify the newer board?
Is the newer board considered better performing?

I had some great memories on this little console though.
that’s an easy fix
You've been missing out since Xbox has been the stronger console the whole time
@TheLongDon nope, the 360 was their strongest console, because of the exclusive and because it doesn't force its users to be connected to the internet to be able to do the most basic function of a console "play games".

I remember seeing these in 500GB models. I had the 360 elite (still do) so I never thought about upgrading because I'd bought the disaster XB1 and PS4 at the time. I'm glad those guys who used to run Xbox are gone.
disaster? gaming nowadays is 5 times more disastrous to the point where you appreciate the 8th generation (compared to 2017)
A tip for the scratched glossy surfaces: use some meguiars polish (for cars) on a microfiber cloth.
This is the 360 I bought when I moved out of my parents house. It came bundled with COD Ghosts. Nice little Xbox and a good price.

This 360 + a HUGE bunch of old 360 games = ultimate game console. Like the 360 games are still comparable to modern Xbox games!!
The amount of heat they make is normal, my 4GB slim gets hot too.
The heat it produces is normal.

1080>4k
As time goes on I'm slowly going back to those times tbh. Our 4k started dying (so we now have a 1080p) and when I move out I'm probably getting a Sony Trinitron Wega CRT
This was literally my fist xbox 360, my mom got me the bundle that had Tomb Raider and Halo 4. It was so amazing and fun playing it the first time
Got one of these, it was made in 2015, so one of the very last ones (Winchester revision I think).
I had all 3. Love this version the best because of its stability but still ove the design of the original
I have the blue one too
Pathetic! I have the purple model from 1889!
My brother and I got this as our family couldn’t afford the brand new Xbox one and hardly any games were out so they got us this.
i am still enjoying xbox 360 more than PS4, so many good games are there in xbox 360, can be modded etc.
I have one of these E- models, Use it every day. I also have an S-model and my original launch console from 2005 ( and yes it still works )…
You can kind of tell this released at the same time as the xbox one because of how its appearance is similar to the original xbox one.
I'm a year late, but they weren't talking about the 360 as a whole, but specifically the 2013 model (360 E)
Mine came with that tomb raider game as well
Just got this 360 in January when I sold the s model that I had back in 2016.
Dude, it feels like an age since Wave did anything that wasn’t just opinion.
You can use denatured alcohol to remove the warranty stickers without damaging them, when they dry off they are sticky again and can be placed back on
the xbox 360 is my favorite. really clean system with a great gaming catalogue.
I have all the 360 systems...still have this version and it works mint
Found an E model at goodwill for $10 recently. Powers on but disk drive makes clicking noises and won’t load. Any help would be appreciated!
People have mentioned a rubber belt going bad, maybe this is the case with yours.
@@Rickenbacker451 thanks. I’m gonna crack it open and clean it out. 🤞
I had a 360 since 2010, used it until 2017. Amazing console.
Agree 360 was awesome generation then I HATED the Xbox one in comparison
I have a 2011 model. I only retired it back in 2020 because all my friends moved onto life/xbone but I only play non BC games now
I bought this 360 a couple days ago and couldn’t find much content on it back then.
Might be the belt that needs to be cleaned.
It’s the belt. Easy fix. They sell them cheap on eBay.
"fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity and that product is Xbox 360"-Don Mattrick lol 🤣
“So stick to 360? That’s your message?” - Geoff Keighley
He said if you get zero Internet
@@z-herb8006 yea but the way Don said it was more like “Deal with an all in one entertainment box that requires to be connected to the internet at all times or just buy a 360 if you’re gonna complain.” It wasn’t the fact us players have 0 internet access. It was more “why do I require to be online at all times when I’m playing single player?“
Yeah he wasn’t really that smart lol
this aged like milk
I picked up that 4GB model in 2013 and it did not include Kinect. But, I added my own 250 gb hdd later. Still works perfectly!
Microsoft's smug attitude during their interviews cost them the ENTIRE generation. A clear lesson on how not to handle your audience.
i just brought one of these as my first console yesterday
Has Microsoft changed any of the components within any of the Series Consoles like Sony has with the PS5?? I can't remember the part, but the changed something from Copper to Aluminum.
They shrank the heat sink on the Ps5
@@zZFlaviusBoss Yeah, that's what it was. Thank you.
I like buttons. It's not just about touch, it's pressure. Eliminates most accidental presses.
The slim is definitely the best looking 360 and looks still awesome next to the chunky box series x
Yeap I have a matte Xbox 360 S next to my Xbox One X and both are standing and looking sleek af
This was my first Xbox console, of course I remember the E. I thought it was the only 360 model when I had it.
I love the 360 E. Few years ago I bought a 500gb 360 E on eBay for $100 with a couple games with it
*Mine was $100 last Xmas!!*
@@afriend9428 still a really solid console choice. Lots of amazing games
I have one stashed away. I bought it a few years ago on Ebay because I had never heard of it before and when I saw it listed, I was blown away. I had no idea there was an "E" Xbox 360 model
If we only viewed DRM as NFT's then, Microsoft would have ran away with the generation.
That auxiliary port in the back comes in handy when I use my 360 with the projector to watch movies
My favorite version of the 360
I have the blue Xbox 360 e and actually love it.
I have this Xbox right now and it still runs
Never had any issues with my 360S drive opening by itself but the mechanical buttons on the 360E do definitely seem like a more durable solution.
That screwdriver you’re using is an absolute unit
