I disagree on the last words. It's fairly easy to take the Series X apart. Follow a good instruction and keep your screws organized and nothing can go wrong. Much easier than the Xbox 360 for example. MS really did a great job with designing this console. Even as a PC builder Im impressed by the chosen eletrical components, the thick pcbs, the amount of aluminum(middle plate) as well of copper(vapor chamber). I counted 15 vrm phases which is huge and almost overkill for a circa 280 watt tdp device, but helps the console to be very power efficient. In contrast Sony uses an 8 phase design for the PS5.
This is the ERA that needs the comically large heat sinks. Anyone with a gaming laptop understands lol. Pretty soon we'll be undervolting our consoles.
Not really an era thing, but more because of the limitation and confinement of space in gaming laptops. Chips are so good you pretty much have to have either a thick asf laptop or under volt the system
@@dq8262 Xbox 360 was much much better and more simple for kids to understand. Xbox one doesnt need all that following, clubs, trending or any social bullcrap. Bottlenecks the UI. They should let the community engage in games. Not in clubs or community updates.

@@jaredpop463 I mix between the two. If I'm playing a SP game and want to chill I use the Series X from my couch on my nice 4K TV with surround sound. I just prefer the console experience from the couch. I've had my PC hooked up to my TV before for gaming and the experience just isn't the same. If I'm playing competitive games, or some of my older titles I play on my PC. Some titles make the jump on GamePass but there have been A LOT that didn't.
The photo documentation and screw-grouping tips at 17:15 are great. It's easy to lose track of things in unfamiliar hardware. I recommend taking extra care whenever multiple screw lengths are used. Depending on the particular hardware, extra photos of screws near their corresponding holes may do the trick, but you can also stick them through paper to keep them arranged and prevent them from rolling around or otherwise getting separated. If the screws are too thick and/or flat to push through the paper easily just use a tack or a staple to make a small hole first.

some are quick to assume that before this upcoming gen has even started, the revisions will do away with disc drives, and the next gen will be cloud gaming. digital purchases are increasing, but it is easy to assume we all live in the city with super fast broadband, 4k tv's and willing to pay 69.99 for the yearly digital COD release. the same people who assumed blu ray films would kill off dvd aisles in the shops
Cloud gaming is far away, but optical drives have been on the way out for years, somewhat doubt internal ones in consoles will last thru this gen they take up ALOT of space u could use for better performing hardware. Probally just start pushing externals for people who still uses physical copies.
Having to be connected to set up the Xbox initially has me concerned. I'm not always in a place to be online and what if I have to do a reset, do I still have to be connected to do the initial setup? My internet is just bogged by the amount of people connected to it, and lack of any wired due to location in relation to the modem. MS did an great job on the internals, the 360 RROD was an learning moment for them. Both the Ps5 and XsX will run cool just make sure you have room for them.
I could say the same about Sony learning from their Yellow light of death problems that happened like 13 years ago. No, the design is great on this console cause Phil Spencer has been really working hard as usual to set up awesome shit like this. He singlehandedly turned the brand around cause his predecessor drove it into the ground and left it as it was half sinking. I always get nervous taking things apart. Off of what Spawn Wave said (new to this channel, don't know if he let out his name): DOC-U-MENT. On things I've never taken apart before, I always trace out the part I'm disassembling and mark where screws and cables go. Make a note of unique markings on the cable. If there aren't any, you can take a colored sharpie marker and just make a note of what the color means on both the cable and mark the color on the tracing sheet. Make written notes too ("cable goes to pizza-shaped thing" or "connects to the slot in the middle-right of the board"). And always take photos. It's best to have at least two points of reference. One is your own documentation, and the other is photos.

I'm just glad to be past the era of comically loud machines. Well, except for Dell laptops.
If you want quiet you need a big ol mass of metal to dump the heat into.
Not really an era thing, but more because of the limitation and confinement of space in gaming laptops. Chips are so good you pretty much have to have either a thick asf laptop or under volt the system
I have to say, as someone who fixes consoles, I'm really loving the design of the Xbox series x.

You have given me an idea
The photo documentation and screw-grouping tips at 17:15 are great. It's easy to lose track of things in unfamiliar hardware. I recommend taking extra care whenever multiple screw lengths are used. Depending on the particular hardware, extra photos of screws near their corresponding holes may do the trick, but you can also stick them through paper to keep them arranged and prevent them from rolling around or otherwise getting separated. If the screws are too thick and/or flat to push through the paper easily just use a tack or a staple to make a small hole first.

"If you don't like our changes, keep your 360" the guy was just like Mark Z, an asshole. That is also why as good as One X was, that damn CPU dragged it down.
