    The biggest advantage of the E is that it’s actually quiet. I picked one up to replace my OG Xbox 360 that sounds like a plane.

      I rather have the system a bit louder and play all games correctly tbh.
      My issue is that the E model has problems with some games to sync audio correctly which is a deal breaker for me!

    Something to note, while it's probably not much of an issue for the large majority of the console's library since it's rarely ever mentioned, but the late S and early E models (specifically the models with the Corona motherboard, I don't believe this applies to Winchester) has a few issues with the accuracy of some games, notably almost the entire library of Guitar Hero games which have an issue where the audio will desync with the rest of the game

    • @arnox4554

      @@arnox4554 I can tell you my source is playing it on both consoles. It's *very* subtle and won't be noticed unless you're a high level player most of the time, but it's definitely there. In my experience the issue gets worse the longer the song is, like the audio is dragging from the video.

I'm an avid PC guy but I did manage to get a PS5 to play some of those Sony exclusives I missed and the 60fps marketing definitely helped win me over (I say that as I'm suffering through Bloodborne at 30 though).

      it was the generation where devs already figured out modern controls and gameplay and was experimenting with new things. tbh ps1 era was "gotta learn how to use 3d", ps2 era was "gotta learn how control stuff in 3D" and x360 was when basics were all polished and devs were trying things. And then enter the two gens that aren't even any different from each other and everyone's afraid to try new things. At least VR still can amaze you in the same way, so at least there's that.

Halo reach was my most played game on my 360, along side halo 3, even in 2013, thousands were still playing halo 3. I never had a 360 back in 2005 or 2007, because I had a wii, and my parents didn't see the point in me getting a 360.

    Been an Xbox fan since the original and have the last 3 generations. I bought the 360E base model brand new from Best Buy around 2013/14, it was one of the last few things I bought there before the store closed down in my city. I still have the box, original packaging and receipt since I always treat my consoles like the day I got them. Although it shares a resemblance to the original Xbox One the physical power and eject buttons and lack of ports reminds me of the original Xbox 360, just newer and improved. My only con with this console is that the shiny plastic design is a fingerprint and scratch magnet. The 360 has been one of my major highlights during my teen years, good times!

    There are modded Es out there it's just that they almost exclusively exist in Brazil. Some CPUs "fell off the back of a truck" before having their fuses programmed at the factory which meant an RGH / JTAG wasn't necessary because you could just program your own keys into it. The Brazilians bought up almost the entire supply of unfused E CPUs though so other counties only got unfused Trinity CPUs which could already be modded anyway.

      I wouldn't mod it. Modding a PS3 is way easier (if you have a phat or earlier slim model, for later slims or the superlim model you can't instal permanent custom firmware) and gives you basically the same options as a RGH Xbox 360, and you don't have to open the PS3 up. Now is the right time to start collecting for the Xbox360/PS3 generation, games are mostly still very cheap (with some exceptions), so you can get quite an interesting library for very little money.

Most people wouldn't know my machine when I told them I had the last Xbox 360 model, but, fortunately, because development on the console was at its highest by that point, I never had to worry about the ring of death, overheating, or such issues. My first console, the exact same machine, is now the most recent addition to my console collection. It's currently sat next to my OG Xbox, and at some point it'll sit on a shelf with my NES, SNES, N64, Wii, Wii U, Master System, Mega Drive, and OG Xbox (the One S broke, then the warranty replacement broke, hence why I switched to PC, and the PS3 Super Slim is going to be replaced with an OG PS3). That means they must be between 1909-1982 to be useful 95% copper heat sinks as opposed to 2.5%. 2nd, people use 2 to 3 pennies per stack... I bought this exact model after seeing MVG show it off in a video years ago. Why? Because it’s blue! I’m shallow that way. Put it into my main gaming setup and put my existing 360 in the guest room. Love it! The only thing I dislike is that it can’t play ripped movies. It’s got a 500gb hard drive that I’ll never come close to filling. I don’t anybody can put 500gb on a 360.

Modifying consoles for home brew has always been something I was intrigued by and wanted to learn how to do. I doubt by the time I’ve learned enough to begin looking into this E model to try and mod it that it will still yet to have been compromised but maybe I could be able to watch other programmers work on this if they are willing to let me and learn as much as I can. Then go on to start my own similar projects when my time comes.

    Sadly, Corona boards already cut production costs, Winchester cutting even further. As a technician, I've observed far more reliability issues on these boards than Trinity (360S launch motherboard with glossy and chrome finish + some matte consoles released about 2011~2012), or even phat Jasper/Kronos motherboards. That's why I stick to my MW2 Special Edition, it's certainly a beauty and a beast

      I have a feeling that those last few releases of everything are most often in worst quality, because there is little fear of people complaining about it since there aren't that much made of it. It's better for a company to make 10.000 pieces of which 5% will have issues, than it is to produce 1.000.000 pieces and have 1% of people returning it because of some design errors.

      @@coolcatbaron unfortunately it's just how the industry works. Even on last gen, Xbox One S seems to be much more prone to failure than its VCR brother, and i've seen many PS4 slims die a premature death as well

    • @bryanobrien2726
      @bryanobrien2726 2 роки тому

      The question is how were costs cut ? With the Slim console they went with a cheaper , more efficient , cooler running SoC rather than the more expensive , less efficient , hotter running separate CPU and GPU of the previous revisions . Cutting costs is not necessarily bad when you end up with newer updated technology .

    • @Patrick77001
      @Patrick77001 2 роки тому

      @@bryanobrien2726 yeah but starts being a problem when It reduces reliability and/or repairability. Slim consoles have far more RAM, memory controllers, standby voltage regulators and southbridge issues than phats. Also, running CPU and GPU together as XCGPU means that you can't replace it in case of failure since the CPU os married to the board (not without RGH at least, which is not available on Winchester boards), and the GPU itself is what died most of the times on phat consoles. On Jasper boards, most of the issues are power input related (mostly 12V rail), but these are just as common on slim consoles. I mean, it's great having built-in Wi-fi, more USB ports, dedicated Kinect port, but it's rather have a console that is less likely to die. It's just my opinion based on previously owned consoles, field experience and feedback from fellow technicians, but don't take it at face value though

      It was something regularly done in console gaming before the 360 ps3 generation. Just about every successful console would get a super scaled back, cheap redesign in its final days. Atari 2600 JR, NES, Genesis, PS1, PS2 slim and the 360-E. This past generation, they went the opposite way with more expensive enhanced models with the ps4 pro and Xbox One X.

      Nah, everyone is just sleeping HARD on the entire Xbox line and jerking off to Nintendo and the PS3 at the moment. Because of that, games for the Xbox line are super cheap, so it's an amazing time to pick them up before the general public notices and starts driving up the prices.
      Forza Motorsport 4 in particular would be a VERY good idea to pick up right now for cheap as there's ZERO way to play it outside of the Xbox 360. It's not backwards compatible with any system, you can't buy the game digitally at ALL anymore, and Forza fans often call it one of, if not the very best of the Forza Motorsport games.

    I recently bought a 360 E from an OfferUp seller and it's definitely a Winchester motherboard because it has that same power outlet. It also came with AV out cables. Fortunately, I can hook it up to my CRT TV. It's a black console. I like it. It's definitely an improvement over the Core and Arcade/Elite models. I especially like that it has buttons rather than a touch pad like you see on the 360 S. Personally I don't mind it but when I move that Xbox around, I accidentally open the DVD drive, thus turning the console on. That's obviously not a problem with the 360 E.
