Ran into this issue with Hyperkin RetroN 1 HD I picked up. It was set to PAL out of the box and the switch was on the bottom. I thought it was a terrible system at first because the carts were either slow or simply wouldn't work. After switching to NTSC all was well.
The Genesis side of things also has sound issues. I wish you could do a comparison with real hardware (or better yet, the Genesis mini) so it can be appreciated better. Also yeah, the mini USB thing was an immediate red flag, because even if it works out of the box, from experience it's the first thing that will fail due to normal wear-and-tear.
It's too bad this system didn't work out. I really like the aesthetic look of the console, especially because the genesis cartridge slot is in front. It always bothered me that the genesis slot on the retron 3 was in the middle, because you couldn't see what genesis game you had inserted when all 3 slots were occupied.
wOut of curiosity, thinking of getting this system, but i read in HD that their is alot of Black lines or boxes on SNES side. Is this issue present if using AV cables? Got CRT TV, and want to use it for component part, not HD. Or way to compare HD vs AV, performance? Possible to do SNES Mario RPG running both?
@@RoXolid my console broke, looking also for something that plays SNES, and be able to play PAL/J for both as well. To Save place. Also maybe be able to start getting some Sega games. So kinda dont want to get 3 consoles.... and looking for something less expansive and easy to replace. In theory its kinda like having 6 in 1. With different regions.
Nice review. It's sad the NES audio is borked. Need help fixing the power port on the broken one? I could help you swap it out for a USB C or Barrel Jack if you want. Let me know. ✌🏻
I know I'm kinda late, but good detailed content. I recently saw that console on Amazon and I planned on buying it. So far from the reviews I've seen and read the classic gaming console was the better choice next to another platform clone system I've seen. I previously bought a Retron 2 and the play on the SNES cart. side was great although it has a very minor flaw with stable connectivity in the cart. port. Lastly on the SNES side if you're looking to save ALL game progress, not happing tried Legend of Zelda Link to the past and it would only save to a certain point in the game. The NES cart. port is a hot mess separate from the SNES because similar to the SNES cart port the cart. port for the NES is really sketchy, it may go in a little too tight, but if the console is even slightly bumped or moved it tends to cause the game to freeze. Also considering how tight and offset the cart port is for the NES side when extracting the cartridge from the console, I have experienced lose of several connector pins inside the cart port.(Heat might be an additional factor there at least I think.) To save money I considered manually replacing the whole pin connector itself, but I can't seem to find any content on how to do that without damaging the whole device in the process. Ergo my dilemma , so I guess I'm going to have to go with the Classic or some other clone NES/ SNES platform I find that best suits me. Thanks for the content. 👍
I think i would invest in one if these so i can take it on the go, as long as it has a micro USB port. Cause in my Office building in my room i got a 12inch tv and id play it during my breaks and lunches :)
I noticed that the classiq III controller had the same input as an SNES controller. I wonder if it would work on an actual SNES? I often mix and match controllers with the same input in order to test compatibility.
@@RoXolid I just returned a retro trio to amazon literally today because the composite video out went monochrome minutes after unboxing per my other comment I just posted. I'm giving this one a go or calling it quits on these devices. Can you recommend a specific clone for the SNES?

Does this play Mega Drive (more specifically the Japanese Mega Drive, NOT the PAL Mega Drive) games? PAL MD games should work but I’m not too sure about the Japanese ones.

I'm glad that you found out what the issue was and that it was a simple fix, but it's something manufacturer just need to get right out of the box
There's nothing wrong abou PAL. You could just read the manual...
great video as usual dude keep em.rollin ..i luv too see ur content..

You shouldn't leave games in when not in-use.

I hope they come out with a different color for the console and controller. Something more SNES or Genesis in style.
I think the black was more to look like the Genesis myself

That's awesome!
I think I'm good with my hyperlink but this is damn close to just as good.
It's very similar to the Hyperkin, but I think the controllers for they Hyperkin are better, as is the pallete
So is the super retro trio plus, a better clone console?
I think the color palets and controllers are better, but the lack of 4:3 really hurts it IMO.
I noticed that the classiq III controller had the same input as an SNES controller. I wonder if it would work on an actual SNES? I often mix and match controllers with the same input in order to test compatibility.
No, that's why there's the switch on the front of the system to go between the included controller and OEM ones.
I’m stuck between this system or retro trio 3 hd which is better ?
I don't recommend the Classiq series of systems at all.

Do these systems allow you to hook up an actual SNES, NES, or Sega controller if you have them or do you have to use the ones that they provide?

I probably won't be getting anymore clone consoles from Hyperkin . Just because of color issues . So I am glad that their are other options.
I’m trying to find a menue screen video on this system do any of your videos show this?
Why would it have a menu? This plays directly off the cartridges, just like the original systems. It does not use software emulation.
