I just got the F1 and I am curious, you mention a range for the Power. I may be wrong but I thought you can only choose one power level. How do you go about putting in a range of power like you mention?
I just did my first ever painted canvas and even though it wasn't perfect it wasn't truly horrible and a variable power setting would definitely produce a better image!

There's no way to set a range. The range comes from the different shades of gray in the image.

@@BuildDadBuild I just thought the way you mentioned the different power levels you were able to do that. My bad, I must have misunderstood. Thank You for the reply!

@@BuildDadBuild I just want to let you know that I tried your technique today!
I can't show you the picture but it came out pretty awesome for my first try!
I notice when I was putting in the settings you recommended, there is a way to set the range. There where two ends for the slider! So I put in 1% and 70%, the shading was almost perfect.
The only difference was I used a Red/Burgundy tile instead of white. I then put one coat of white paint and two of black. I wish there was some way you could see the result!
Thank you again for this video, it inspired me to experiment!!

would you use anything when your done to keep the paint from coming up? I tried acrylic clear and water based poly bu the acrylic peels off the paint and poly it seems peels up as well.

You know...there is a far simpler method to do this: DON'T USE A WHITE TILE!
The Norton method depends on igniting the titanium in the paint with the intense heat of the laser, leaving a burnt etching behind on the ceramic. It has nothing to do with the white of the tile itself. So simply use the Norton method on a green tile and get a green/black PERMANENT finish. Or, use the Norton method on a red tile and get a red/black PERMANENT finish.
Or...grab yourself a more artsy tile (such as the Celine product line from Bedrosian's). Use the Norton method to etch black. Clean off the tile and reposition it back under the laser exactly where it was and fire again (different elements of the artwork, of course) directly onto the tile surface and etch white. Now you have three colors: black + white + whatever color the tile itself. And all permanent, without multiple paint layers and delicate trial and error to adjust power and figure out paint layer depths and what not.
And in the event that anybody thinks that I am making this up, the detailed info above should serve as the notice that I am familiar with this technique because I do it. It's a proven approach.

Doesn’t need to be. This is a completely different technique. Don’t get so angry about trying something different. Plus Nicky Norton is kind of a prick.

@@BuildDadBuild I wasn't typing with any emotion of anger. Sorry of it came across that way. I was typing with an emotion of enthusiasm. I'll take you word for it concerning Norton as a person.
