You can't extol your virtue as a man of principles , then say that Joe Biden is a good and decent man in one breath and say you despise Trump as a bad man in the next when Joe Biden has proven himself the least principled man in our political lifetime. In the last four to five years he has consistently changed his opinion on everything that he voted for in his political career before his presidency, and that's not to mention his family scandals.

I think the problem is obvious here. Note what he said. "It will end your career." Politician shouldn't be a career, and the fact that he thinks of it that way speaks volumes.

Exact same? Republicans actually had a serious primary. When democrats stop voting in “lock step” I might listen. We can all agree the media is truly broken.
Not to mention, if someone had run against Trump in the 2020 primary the media would have rallied around the CHALLENGER, not the incumbent (as in the case of the Democrats).
I thought there were real chances that Clinton or Sanders could've gotten the nomination during the last several campaigns, though. Or am I totally missing your point?

Doesn't matter if you vote for the jerks with an R after their name or the crooks with a D after it. you're voting for people who've been selected by a system that does not have your best interests at heart. Term limits will simply move more power to the unelected party bosses & the bureaucracy (congressional staffers & civil servants) who shape the perceptions of their congress critters or suppress your freedoms by swamping your daily life with bureaucratic processes.

It blew my mind that Republicans wanted Trump instead of Ramaswamy. Vivek was the complete package. Honest, intelligent, integrity, brave, compassionate, fierce, and educated.

I have said to friends that I would like to meet a person that think Ramaswamy is even remotely qualified to be President. The man is a fool that would have killed us all. Least qualified person to ever throw his hat in the ring. So meeting a person who supported him would be fun to observe. Kind of like a Darwin observation if you like. How else is the person failing in their live. 😂.
I am a Vivek fan, and would have gladly voted for him had he been nominated, but I think some concerns over his sincerety were / are valid. He strikes me as extrodinarily well rehearsed. I think he needs to be able to show a bit more relatability for him to have high % presidential aspirations moving forward. I am here for it, but I think for him to get cross aisle support he needs to show a bit more of himself - not the version of himself he created to try to be elected president.

200 years ago, politicians were more apt to make bold/decisive decisions, because society was much much smaller. It was possible to garner deep loyalty through a close personal connection with the people. Today, there are just too many people for that deep level of trust/commitment. The result: political gridlock as everyone panders to their party's ideals for fear of losing their seat.
Congressional term limits would make losing one's seat an eventuality, thus removing the fear.
200 years ago, only men could vote. It’s clumsy to consider a single fact as the only reason something is bad now. More has changed in the past 200 years of human civilization than all of the rest combined.
To be honest, I try to ignore American politics as much as possible because.. reasons. But I've always said, "How is it possible that out of over 300million people.. two ancient old guys are the best options to run the country?!" It's weird. Why should someone who's soooooo old they would have retired in any other industry in the world, be the ideal person to determine the future of, in some cases, the free-world? USA is a long ways away from what it was half a century ago, and not in a good way.
Don't kid yourself, that ancient old man is not running anything, he's just a mascot. The US is a business and it is run like one, by people who are not elected and outlast any sitting president.

Dean, if you were surprised by the way you were treated by the Democratic party and the media, then you have not been paying attention. You said that both parties exercise control but at least the Republicans let the people vote. If the party leaders were picking the candidates in the R party, Trump would never have been a nominee. Maybe you didn't notice the R party leadership bending over backwards to try to nominate Nikki Haley. The people were allowed to chose differently. In the D party, the leadership has absolute control of who becomes a nominee. Nobody in the D party gets elected if they have not been approved by the party leadership. But that's not true in the R party, you can go rogue and still get elected. Republicans are by no means free of guilt but at least they let the people choose.
Update. As of March 6, 2024, Congressman Philips dropped out of the race and endorsed Pres. Biden for a second-term.

Mr. Phillips is obviously highly intelligent, and in his final answer here diagnoses the political problem to the tee. I really goes back to "Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely". Politicians today are the literal antithesis of what representative government was meant to be. Incumbency is not just a given, it's THE given. Power, and the wealth that comes as an attachment, is the goal. That means winning. And winning will always be the goal until we establish term limits. Serious term limits, not the city council -> state rep -> US rep for 20 years -> US senator for 18 years track that establishes permanence in power. And no disrespect to Mr. Phillips, but his own admission of being unknown places him at the bottom of the incumbent/successor hierarchy. The only reason Kennedy has any traction as an independent is because he's a Kennedy. But even a Kennedy couldn't displace Old Joe, so what kind of chance does a Dean Phillips have in changing the direction of the DNC machine? Kennedy's independent run is toxic to the Democrat's incumbent. Phillips was a thorny barb that was plucked before it could fester. Either would have made a better Democrat candidate than Biden. That leaves independent and centrist voters no realistic option but to vote for Trump. Kennedy won't win as an independent. And four more years of incompetency, economic decline, no borders, and foreign proxy wars can't be supported.
This is definitely what the problem is. When picking your President is like picking what STD you want someone needs to realize the system is broken.
While Dean comes across well, he makes a lot of assertions with no evidence to back it up. I was a little surprised that Jordan didn’t push back on Dean a little. Just one mans observation of this clip.
