My Mother went to hospital in 2023. She was 91. She had gall stones and needed surgery to fix that problem. I had power of Attorney so they called me. They wanted to give her MAID instead of surgery. I said NO. Then in late 2024 she went to a different hospital not feeling well. The Doctor called me and wanted to give her MAID. I asked what was wrong with her. He said they didn’t know they didn’t think it was worthwhile doing any tests. I insisted they do tests. He called me the next morning and she had a bladder infection. They still wanted to do MAID. I again said no and they kept her there for three days giving her antibiotics. A different doctor called me everyday and tried to convince me to let them do Maid. I was so disgusted.

What is worse in Canada they are cutting benefits and help for disabled people, then giving them MAID crap. Meaning that the person has to choose between suffering intensely, or ending their own life.

Delete is common and ubiquitous in our modern society. Let just piece together your three sentences. You “corrected” them on their grammar. Then you stated very, very obvious information. Like you assumed they didn’t know which is condescending as hell. Then you leave it with I hope you feel better. You were rude, go do that to your friends in the real world and watch how they react.

My father was dying of cancer two years ago and had asked for MAID. I was morally against it, but didn't have a choice but to accept his decision. The morning of the procedure the phone rang at 5 am: my father had just died at the hospital, three hours before the procedure was scheduled. I was convinced and still am convinced that God answered my prayers and let my dad die naturally. I was immensely relieved.

My daughter recently tried to share this news & warning to a FB group she is on. Some woman laughed & criticized her for believing “anything Jordan Peterson says “. The thread was cut before my daughter could reply explaining to the woman who clearly failed reading comprehension classes that it was Mr. Peterson’s guest who was blowing the whistle.
What has happened to Canadians?
Have we become so brainwashed & impotent that even when someone who has “been at the front lines” & who has the correct information, not the half-truths &propaganda, is mocked ,as seen in comments here. (Yes Canadians used to have a good sense of humour as did I…but when it was appropriate).

A couple of years ago I was given a new book by a favourite Canadian author. Its theme was along these lines and I knew right away what it was about eugenics. My Mother used to worry about this before she died in 2010. I used to think that she was being paranoid until the recent COVID experience brought it back to mind. I’ve tried to shake the suspicions off. Then I read Louise Penny’s new book which is supposed to be fiction but opens that question in one’s mind.
I hadn’t really heard of MAID before the pandemic. The pandemic brought to light horrific abuses leading to death in some nursing homes. Citizens complaining of a broken health care system. Politicians’ excuses being lack of funding.
Suddenly hearing more about MAID.
Idyllic ads on tv of a heavenly scenario out in God’s beauty with loved ones all around. Such peace, such beauty.
Such a blatant LIE when you find out what is REALLY being done to you!
Trudeau’s method of fixing the failing healthcare…don’t allocate more funds to fix it…get rid of all those pesky people who need it more often…veterans, seniors, disabled & mentally afflicted . We don’t need them any more especially when they can be replaced.
He is on his way to completely changing the very face of our country and what is even more sad is that zombie-like, unquestioning, unthinking Canadians are not PAYING ATTENTION!
When I looked at the comments here a few days ago I deliberately posted my medical experiences that happened all in ONE day.
It was not a pretty story. It was a traumatic, humiliating, horrific experience that I DID NOT HAVE TO SHARE! But I wanted to share it to open sleeping eyes to what the health care for ME that day, April 26 in Cambridge at Cambridge Memorial Hospital was really like. What it was like for a petite, disabled Senior having an alarming reaction to a new med was treated.
Starting with the doctor who prescribed a ludicrous med who mustn’t have checked my file of meds, next to the local SDM pharmacist who supposedly has one’s file in front of him & as advertised by SDM supposedly checks your file as a safeguard to you, to the arrival at CMH which turned out to be one of DANTES’ levels of hell where I was left with 3 people who ignored me…ignored my basic needs of a commode until it was too late. Who, after 3 hours being left in filth, turned out to NOT SPEAK OR UNDERSTAND ENGLISH! I found out by taking one of them by the hand & looking in her face & trying to talk to her!
No doctor came by until after 3 hours when I had been admitted due to a really bad reaction to a new med.
Why? What if it was damaging organs?
Why was I treated like scum? It was because the very first line written about what the drug is used for says it is a drug for alcoholics & drug addicted!
What was it prescribed to me for?
A DERMATOLOGIST in Hamilton gave it to me for a rare scalp autoimmune disease that I have been suffering from for over 4 YEARS! A disease that started during the first week of COVID lockdowns.
The other part of this nightmare scenario & why I think that the next doctor was a nasty little harridan to me, was that NO ONE BELIEVED ME that I wasn’t an alcoholic or drug addict.
In conclusion, I was failed by the first doctor, failed by the pharmacist, abandoned in a freezing cold room with no call bell to ask for a warm blanket (I’ve been in Emerg many times & the Canadian nurses will gladly get you a heated blanket as well as a commode or they help you to the washroom, a basin if you need to vomit) or any of the other things I needed if I’d been in a proper caring hospital. I forgot that they didn’t bring me a basin to vomit in either.
NOTE: I have severe spinal stenosis. I cannot walk without my walker. My walker wasn’t there. I was trapped.
Trapped with 3 young women who I thought were nurses or nursing assistants but turned out to be as useful as donkeys because they could not speak or understand the official language of our country.
Then to have an even more useless, nasty female doctor who forgot her vow to “do no harm”.
Are murderers in our prisons treated with better care & respect?
It makes me wonder.
Then, after pouring out my whole experience as an example of poor care from the medical establishment right down the line & as a warning to people…what response do I get from another reviewer?
“Why doesn’t your daughter take care of you?”
Well, my daughter’s psychic abilities did not alert her to the first doctor making the mistake nor the arrogant pharmacist slacking off on his job, nor to a hospital that would be so incredibly stupid as to abandoning a helpless patient in distress to 3 individuals who could not speak or understand our CANADIAN language!
They might as well have been donkeys.
And the female who responded to my experience misses the ENTIRE FRIGGING POINT!!
My daughter was away. That wasn’t the frigging point!
Wow. I guess it’s going to be harder than I thought for the young woman in the video here and real citizens sharing their experiences with shoddy, near dangerous healthcare if Canadians are all this obtuse.
My reason for sharing was to try to find some way to help this young woman to spread the TRUTH.
If anyone out there knows how to help spread the message then please let us know! Canadians really do need to hear the truth! We are so isolated from the news now due to our government. The more you hear about this government the more sickening the reality is.
The complacency of citizens needs to be shattered!

Another, argued fiercely, claiming it is cruel to force someone to live when they were in pain or had low quality of life. Quality of life or pain according to the patient? or another person ? who simply believes it is according to what they believe it ‘should be’ for the patient or individual.
One person who was in 24 hour care with a brain injury after surviving brain cancer and other things, appeared to me as wonderful and strong to maintain life in such adversity. To me their desire to live was immensely strong because they continued to live through substantial adversity and never gave up life.
Yet to another, that person had low quality of life which they claimed fiercely was a cruelty to keep them alive.
The patient was living happily with a brain injury and with care, their lifestyle was different to what might be considered normal or perhaps privileged. They had a sweetheart there as well.
This ‘other’ person made the claim this patients life was not of value for life, which I think is a shocking and terrible potential outcome for someone not able to defend themselves should another decide to have their life ended. And then name the process some type of kindness - like putting an animal to sleep to avoid prolonging their life.
Which person decides the outcome the patient or someone else.

In 2015, I actually voted for Trudeau because I supported leaving doctors and patients alone to make their own decisions. At least, thats what I thought I was voting for. Instead, government crawled right into the doctors offices and started demanding the promotion of murder. You read the law - doctors are REQUIRED to offer MAID. I want to formally apologize for voting for him. The only MAID I support now is for Trudeau himself.

I was recently present when my Canadian aunt had MAID. I tried to talk her out of it but she was adamant she didn't want to become dependent.
I was utterly horrified at this legally sanctioned suicide-murder. The doctor and nurse who turned up at her home to kill her were banal, soulless individuals whose job is to go around killing the old and ill. We had a notorious doctor here in the UK who murdered 250 elderly patients with morphine - Harold Shipman. Delivering MAID would have been his dream job.
Already, speaking to people in the local town, I became acutely aware that becoming old and dependant was no longer seen as socially acceptable or as an inevitable part of life drawing to a close.
Canada has embraced the ultimate evil - murder masquerading as compassion. As St Paul writes, 'The Devil himself masquerades as a shining angel'.

It’s not murder if your aunt *requested* it. What, are you going to keep her alive against her will? At a certain point that becomes actively torturing another person, which is one of the worst things one human can do to another.
If someone’s life is ending soon and going to be full of pain and suffering in the meantime - if they’re going to lose their very identity before they die - I think choosing MAID is a perfectly acceptable and even courageous response. Obviously people shouldn’t be pressured into it, but at a certain point when quality of life is reasonably gone they shouldn’t be pressured *out* of it either.
Let people choose what to do with their own lives, especially when they have a painful terminal condition.
I'm in a group at a senior center where we're doing end-of-life planning: wills, powers of attorney, trusts, etc. The leader asked, "Does everyone know what death with dignity is?" I answered, "Assisted suicide." Boy, did she give me a dirty look. I'm in Washington State. Washington and I think Oregon have "death with dignity" laws. This is the first time I've heard of MAID.

Dying doesn't do anything to the content of carbon in your body.
I’m 70 and have multiple health problems despite trying to take care of myself without medical intervention for decades. I’ve eaten whole foods most of my adult life and tried to be active and build strength. Doctors have given up on me and despite medication resistant high blood pressure I have stopped going to the doctors. When my blood pressure goes up over 200 I take more than the prescribed dosage and tough it out instead of calling an ambulance. It’s very scary but it’s scarier going to the emergency room and sitting there for hours unattended and if I did get in to see a doctor, most of them treated me like a pariah. Not emergency enough I suppose. I hope they never develop this condition. They kept asking me if I had anxiety like it was all in my head. Then a blood test revealed hyper aldosterone which is the hormone that balances sodium and potassium levels. So not in my head.

Some have no idea how fortunate they are in life and won't until it is too late. Maybe that is why any time I get to be around older people, and especially if they seem to like me, I hang out and talk to them about things. There was one wonderful lady at my old job who said I reminded her of her grandchild. She was very fond of me and I of her.
Medical assistance in dying raises questions about the meaning of medicine.
If medicine is that which restores you to health then MAID is a contradictory term.
Medicine is people helping you to change your body to the state you want your body to be in (your body - your choice). Most people want to restore their health. Most people who learn that restoring their health isn't an option, want to stop the suffering. The doctors are the ones who make those wishes happen. Is this clear to you now?

I read the blog of a woman my age who went through MAID. it's so sad. Her parents didn't want to care for her, she didn't have friends, she really didn't see hope in her future. I feel privileged to have the mindset that no matter how bleak my life is there are still things to feel grateful for and to hope for. The professionals around her all enabled her decision to go through MAID and "validated" that her life really was bleak and hopeless. I feel like the right thing to do is to fight her delusion and force her through therapy to see her life is worth living.

My 95 year old mother fell and was hospitalised. The doctor told her she would never be independent again which she had been until then! Today 10 months later my mother is back to her old self and living independently again.( She has been doing so now already for 6 months!!) How evil was that doctor when we know that just a negative attitude can stop the recovery! They just don't want any old people, and basically just no humans anymore. Transhumanisme is their aim!

Even with all my issues, I asked my GP to sign me up for MAID.
HE refused on principle, and explained it all to me.
I am glad he followed up by phone, and we agreed it was wrong for me.
He saw people try to change their mind when it was too late.

I drowned when I was a teen. It is agony, let me tell you. The last few seconds, you stop caring and black out. I was rescued before there was brain damage. I remember it with crystal clarity. I'd rather face a firing squad than drown again. It's no wonder the government does not want that information to get out. It's not misguided, it's just plain evil.

Just saying, for the people who have serious health conditions that greatly diminish their quality of life, and they are just looking for an exit, blowing ones brains out in their homes and then having their loved ones find them I such a horrible state, well that is abhorrent.
So I understand the need for programs like MAID, they should be doing it differently, like hospice care, where they give a patient a high dose of opoids and then the patient can decide when to take them in the comfort of their home, and actually have a painless and dignified death.

So in cases where people are older and suffering from not just mental illness, which are no joke either, believe me I know that struggle is real. I am specifically talking about cases where people have a very poor quality of life and it's due to physical health conditions (and combined with advanced age.)
So when the prognosis is grim, there is no cure, and the only treatment options are pain management, and there is zero hope of recovery. (And there is also no way to de-age a person, at least not yet anyway.)
In these cases the only thing a patient has to look forward to is literally death. This is why quality hospice care and dying with dignity are important.
I was NOT advocating for a patient suffering with mental illness to be offered MAID or something similar. So long as they are physically healthy, (for the most part that is), have all of their mental facilities in tact, (as in cognitive abilities, like knowing their name, where they are, ect) and are not facing a terminal illness, like a diagnosis of stage 4 inoperable cancer, for example. Then by all means, they should have access to quality mental healthcare, that can possibly help them to live a fulfilling life. And obviously hopefully alleviate their mental suffering and anguish.
People that are terminally ill, have very poor qualityof life, and whose only treatment options are pain management should definitely have the option to end their life on their own terms. Death with dignity should only be used in cases of incurable illnesses, or even patients of advanced age.
And I hope you understand where I am coming from now.

Add also that MAID is being pushed as a cost saving measure with a veneer of compassion, and it's not too many steps to assume that some bean counter somewhere figures out that removing the unconsciousness drug and pain killers saves money. There would be pushback from the "compassionate" doctors, and they might quit in protest, but how many MAID patients would testify that their own deaths were excruciating and terrifying? "Dead men tell no tales." That would leave only the most unethical doctors who are also dispassionate or cruel in the MAID chain.
For the logicians: Yes, this is a "slippery slope" argument, but as I'm not positing a logical consequent, but instead a probable outcome, it's not fallacious. "Don't walk on the slippery slope" is good advice even if "you will always fall down a slippery slope" isn't true. In this case, the presence of MAID itself was warned against but dismissed less than one generation ago. The doctors touting it now must remember those public discussions, but the slope was slight enough to manage with stability, and they walked down it willingly albeit quicker than expected. There's no reason to assume they'll stop at this portion of the slope.

My sister has been struggling with severe depression for 10 years, after coming off anti-depressants. She hasn't wanted to continue living at times, but has managed to hang on. Four months ago, she decided to try going carnivore, within 2 days, she started feeling better, and now, after 4 months being carnivore, only eating meat and eggs, she has turned her living room into a music studio and has taken up her music hobby again, she is now teaching herself new songs and has started singing again. Thank God we don't live in Canada, otherwise she might not still be here.

My parents lived in the Netherlands, and in the Netherlands Euthanasia is legal.
My father became wheelchair bound and had to go to a nursing home.
As soon as he got there, he said he wanted to get euthanized.
It is legal under circumstances of terminal illness, and if you are a senior and are in a situation where you will not get better.
My father was 89, and besides being in a wheelchair there was nothing wrong with him.
My father was euthanized Jan 3rd 2020.
They might aswel have given it to my mother his wife of 60 years as well because that's the day she stopped living.
My mother died on June 15 2021.
Euthanasia is a pretty word for ASSISTED SUICIDE.
You grieve over it like you would a suicide.
My mother lived the rest of her life wondering why my father didn't love her enough to go on living.
It was heartbreaking.

I personal knew many people with SEVERE Traumatic Head Injuries that couldn't hold their heads up, that were drooling in wheelchairs and couldn't speak and today are mobile or speaking up a storm in self-sufficient. One woman eventually learn to drive again lives in independently and speaks at toastmasters. Another was somebody that through love and support, went back to college and got a master's degree in psychology!! It was a long SLOW process add various ages, but I saw it with my own eyes! It can be learning the alphabet all over again as an adult, but you use the same building blocks to walk and talk and keep going!! It's those that aren't giving therapy consistently that don't continue to get better they have to never give up!! Always improving on each step even for years.
Not sure where you live, but in Canada none of these people would be allowed to have a MAID - a MAID can only be decided on by the person who wants to die - I can't choose for anyone else, nor can any Doctor...if you are not of sound mind, you cannot request a MAID, nor can anyone else for you - in those cases it is a DNR order.

As someone who has lost 3 family members and a friend to suicide, I find the the whole idea so incredibly sickening. Not just sickening, but demonic. I have been to those dark places and I know the thoughts that happen and they are always huge lies. Why is the Canadian government approving lying to people, so that they will consent to being murdered? I talk to anyone I see online or in person that talks about feeling suicidal or really depressed, and so much of what I’m helping them do is untie those lies they’ve been believing, and trying to show them hope. I know for a fact it is possible to help people. And taking the time and energy to clear the darkness away from people-that’s true compassion.

In 2019 I reported a doctor for murdering my mother by stealth euthanasia, after I had ordered the medical records which a retired healthcare worker reviewed for me. The records showed that on a Friday morning a deadly concoction of midazolam and hydromorphone had been prescribed by the hospice doctor which was administered some 9 or 10 hours later that Friday night to my mother while she was peacefully asleep and after all the family members but I had left for the day. Interestingly enough in those same notes the doctor had described my mother as looking peaceful and relaxed . It was a calculated pre-meditated murder and thanks to the young nightshift nurse who looked like a frightened chicken when I asked her why my mother wasn't waking up I became suspicious that something wasn't right. In my complaint to CSPO they lauded the doctor for the good care that she had given my mother while mentioning that the doctor had informed the family that she was switching over to infusions. (The opioids and the sedative that my mother was given were administered by continuous infusion what hospice called an infusor.) In essence what CSPO was saying was that my mother's body and life belonged to the doctor and it was hers to do with as she wished. Yes MAiD is a horrible evil thing but nobody relying on the Canadian health care system should take comfort that they or their loved ones will be safe by simply saying no to MAiD. If a doctor decides to clear a bed and give someone a speedy exit to the nearest graveyard they can simply dress it up as "comfort care" and those trusting family members who are too gullible to believe that such evil could exist in our hospitals will thank the doctor for the "compassionate care" their loved one received.

This reminds me of a documentary I watched on the 2004 tsunami. A mother lost her young daughter in the tsunami. I remember her tears and saying how she knew how it felt to have that water in your lungs and how painful it was, and she was so heartbroken not only to have lost her daughter but knowing she had such a painful death. 😢💔

I had a friend who had bladder cancer and underwent surgery, chemo, radiation.....and he suffered infections continually from the port for his ostomy bag. He finally chose MAID and his wife said it was a blessing because his suffering had become terrible.
I understand this. The end of suffering can be a huge relieve. But we can all end our lives ourselves by stopping to eat and drink. That's what my 94 yo mum did. She felt in full control. The advantage of this method is, that your decision and determination are put to the test. You have enough time to change your mind and if you don't, then even your loved ones will understand that this really was your way to go.

Before I checked out they sent a Baptist Minister to get me to sign a do not resuscitate paper. Thank God I’m Roman Catholic. I signed I wanted to be resuscitated, I’m only 39 yrs old. He went ballistic screaming at me, told me about how evil my religion was and gave me another paper to sign the way he wanted me to sign! I called the emergency and told the nurse I couldn’t breath! He left. Illinois the good old USA!
If you couldn't breath how did you call the nurse to say "I can't breath" - if you can talk you can breath. Ministers are not the ones who sign off on DNR orders, and at 39 I highly doubt that a DNR would even be considered for you - unless you are leaving details out for dramatic sake. By default you would be a full code, with all life saving measures - so there is nothing to sign, but refusing to sign a document the hospital is required to do everything to save your life - sounds like some embellishing going on here.
That so-called Baptist “Minister” was not any kind of real Christian, or real Christian minister. No Bible-believing minister, or Christian would tell someone they should die, that lie is from Satan, not God. God says in His Word that He is not willing that any should perish, but wants all to Come to Him through His Son Jesus Christ to be saved from their sins by His vicarious and substutionary death on the Cross. That way, when they do die naturally, they get to go live with Him in Heaven for all eternity with God Himself.
15 years ago I was in a depression and you couldn’t have convinced me then that happiness was a possibility. Today I am beyond happy, thanks to internal shifts in my mind and thinking that I didn’t know were possible back then. I can’t say everyone will overcome depression but I can say it’s possible and worth finding out.

There was a disabled man in Ontario who was going to be homeless which would have been disastrous for his disability. He made the news when he was looking into MAID because he didn't want to die on the streets. Absolutely tragic.
There was another woman who was a VET, and had been paralysed as a result of her service (not sure how exactly). But she waited close to ten years for a wheelchair upgrade, THEN, when she contacted disability services to request a ramp to be installed in her house so she could easily come and go, she was told no, but was offered MAID instead 😮🤬

As a former Canadian Forces member, I knew there were a lot of Vets being advised of MAID; broken soldiers are expensive, and disposable in the eyes of the government.
It's not worth any of it in the end because as the lady in the video said, what do Canadians have to look forward to if these are the outcomes??

People should realize that in Oregon (USA) we've had "Death With Dignity" for about 30 years now. Just looking at 1 issue created from it - Our Water - The main river that runs through our Valley, the Willamette, there have been measurable levels of the chemicals used for more than 20 of those years. These decisions have a horrific effect on society. We're paying the price for politics that we don't necessarily agree with.
How does chemicals end up in your River? Is it put there on purpose or is it flush down the drain or what?

The three main problems here seem that it is being offered rather than requested, that there was a poor choice made for the method involved and that the incentive to do so is monetary rather than compassionate.
A lot of this seems to be solved when people in a terminal case who requested MAID can operate the settings of their morphine drip themselves. As far as I know opiate derrivate overdose is a rather painless death in comparison.
That may or may not be my way out. Obviously not through MAiD.

Certainly, the oath prohibits giving poison. It also says "I will give no sort of medicine to any pregnant woman, with a view to destroy the child." They ditched the oath long ago.

In United Kingdom we used to have PATHWAY which is the same as MAID. My grandfather was on pathway and they were literally starving him to death, he WANTED TO EAT HE WANTED TO DRINK so in end we took icecream in and he grabbed my mother's hand and eate the whole thing. Why put people through the pain and torture of a slow death like that instead of allowing them to pass quickly and painlessly is beyond me

I have a son who has Down syndrome. This terrifies me. He has family members who adore him and would advocate for him against those who might suggest that he would be better off dead just to save money. But I know of others with cognitive disabilities who do not have advocates.
So sad and wrong.
Knowing this is a possibility gives us opportunities to grow advocate networks who can help. For people like me, there is total lack of awareness. We want everyone to be able to experience a quality of life and have someone to defend us when we are weak, but don't really understand how to help or if that is appropriate for people outside our families.
I'm sooo glad your son has the support he needs and I hope that will grow to include others less fortunate soon.
@@_SarahElizabeth_ where I live in the USA, there, currently, seems to be no one openly suggesting such things. There is no MAID here. Also, my mother died in 2018 at age 87. She had COPD, congestive heart failure, and a-Fib. She was covered by Medicare. For 2 weeks every effort was made to treat her illnesses until she fell into a natural coma. There was never any suggestion of stopping treatment until the family requested hospice and only palliative care. But again, my sister and I or other family members were with her in hospital to advocate for her every minute of those 2 weeks.

I have a learning disabled sibling. This really concerns me. I can’t even get the words to express the terror I have for my sibling’s well being. My sibling is so trusting and gullible.
This is how my daughter died a year ago, May 15.
Not only this way, but in addition there are additional heinous things that took place directly from the abuse of health care professionals .... and believe me the 'care' words is 100% non-applicable!
It devastated our family as it was.
To learn this is an atrocity beyond processing.
