Fellow 21 trd pro Owner here. Watched since you first got your truck a year ago. Your videos Pretty much solidified that I need that truck. After going back and forth was able to find my pro little under msrp a outside Detroit and drove it back home to Chicago. I’ve followed pretty much the same mods lol. I have the rekgen flaps KO2 and interior mods as well I have recently chrome deleted meso customs . I noticed you said you were gonna PPF your truck over the front hood decal. I was able to get a front clip of my truck PPF but they were not able to lay film over decal for some reason idk. I had to purchase oem decal from Toyota, cost was about 100$ and had them place the decal over the PPF. Trd pro did not look right without it. Anyways, I love my truck still wish I would have found a Lunar rock but I’m ok with my MGM.
MGM is sick too! Yeah, some shops aren't comfortable laying PPF over vinyl (Realistically, it's not an issue if both films are applied responsibly; My brother and I used to own Impulse Design co we specialized in vinyl wraps and PPF, or else I wouldn't confidently say that haha). I have the rest of the meso stuff too just haven't gotten around to yanking my interior apart yet 😂 Thanks for watching man, I'm glad it has helped ya out a bit!

I got a 17 TRD SPORT lifted 9 inch’s with a pedal commander I live in the mountains I also daily drive my truck 1hr 40 mins which still gets 13 mpg with 35s n 9 inch’s of lift no gear searching issues has been lifted since 5000 miles now has over 60k no issues with gear hunting love the truck! Awsome video bro keep up the great work subscribed!

That’s awesome to hear, I was beginning to think a lot of the gear hunting complaints stemmed from repetitive up and downhill driving, perhaps.

Just got back from my Toyota dealer in central NJ. I’ll have a 2022 Trail Edition in army green in a couple weeks. Love that it has the rear locker now and I’m digging the bronze wheels. Looking forward to ripping it through the pines. Tell me all the deets on the life support stick. I’m looking to buy one of them soon too.

@@TrackSlayers absolutely not. I’m removing them immediately when I pull in the driveway. My yeti 65 will hold way more than those stupid things and take up less bed space. Literally the only thing I don’t like about it. I wish it had keyless entry and push start like the TRD pro but then I think everyone would just buy the trail edition for $10k less.

I threw a westcott lift on mine and put on 33" KO2s...company out of Arizona. It's a spacer sp you keep the fox suspension. About a grand installed or so.

yeah its odd, because I hear this from time to time with 2020-2021 models, but mine doesn't have a single issue, shifts like every other automatic vehicle i've had does around my area. But even when i drive into the mountains, like once a month, no gear hunting, just regular shifting.. I use cruise control daily for extensive periods

I bought a 2017 Toyota Tacoma I don’t know what is all the fuss about the gear hunting I don’t find nothing wrong with it, I had a 2007 Tacoma prerunner for 11 years that truck was really a good truck the reason I bought this newer one.

Yeah... I was so excited to eat a wild turkey... that was the last time bud!!! ha ha... I have had two FJ trail team editions now Im looking at the Tacoma TRD PRO in that awesome color you have.... LUNAR ROCK.. Its a badass truck.. I never get off-road vehicles without BFGS KO tires, damn that looks awesome with the letters facing out. Live on the biggest lake in Nebraska and in the sandhills its like the midwest tropics... awesome sand and beaches better that Hawaii believe it or not... Lake Mcconughy.. 4-5 miles wide, 20 miles long. Your video really helps me see what i want in a truck and what I can live without... im subscribing..hope more Tacoma videos. thanks man!! @@TrackSlayers Kind of a diamond in the rough. You would be hard pressed to find nicer beaches.. better than Hawaii and anyplace I've visited in Mexico. The sand is unbelievable.
Lots of Tacoma owners out here in Utah have gear hunting issues climbing through the mountains. Where you are driving has a lot to do if and how those gear hunting issues present themselves. Mountainous and hilly areas may make that 6 speed auto hunt.
Just the input I was looking for, I answered a couple people back assuming this exact scenario, considering that could be why people speak about this gear hunting thing. I go from NJ beach sea level up to the PA mountains a few times a month and really don't notice the vehicle shifting gears any differently than any other automatic vehicles i've driven that shift while driving uphill/downhill. thanks for sharing!

Randomly, and luckily.. I got a Model S Plaid mid January and put 4k miles on it, so the tacoma as of recent has only been used for off-roading this year lmao. Only filled up twice since january and ran premium both times. The plaid is ran every day and only $160 in electricity cost, it tracks cost on the tesla app. I picked a good time to randomly buy an 1100hp EV 😂

it has only snowed about a dozen times in the past few years and my truck would be parked indoors a lot of those days. its not much of an issue just broom it out if it does get back there

Getting my 2023 but doesnt come with tech package (BSM, RCTA) do you find yourself using these features and i would regret not waiting and getting them?
BSM and RCTA are nice but wouldn't be a dealbreaker if i didn't have them. One thing I find absolutely useful for daily use is the 360 cam and how its displayed, really amazing feature compared to just a back up cam
How many gallon fuel tank do you have in the TRD? Did you notice the fuel milage changes with the KO2s?
21.1 gal, I haven't noticed a difference at all and i don't try to drive conservatively at all, just drive how I want
Had a 2020 Army Green TRD Pro Tacoma. Traded it for a Jeep Gladiator. Got rid of the Gladiator. Looking now to get back into a Tacoma TRD Pro. Not crazy about the new orange color so looking at black. Also thinking about the manual transmission too. Great video. What tire size are you running?

I owned that exact same truck. I totally ruined it by making it more offroad worthy with Stage 10 Icons, bigger 33 tires and regear. The ride sucked so bad along with poor gas mileage I sold it. Never alter a TRD Pro item they are the perfect balance of on road and offroad. Unfortunately the Tacoma has a crap transmission and gear ratio it is out dated ergonomically.
If you get the manual, that thing this guy said sucked, you get a... ,I think it’s the diff, higher ratio. more torque.
you can do some things to fix the trans if it irks you. truck sounds sick!

it's a lot to unpack and a lot of variables as im sure you know, so much to the point where im gonna make a video covering my situation and insurance cost, I've done running cost videos on my other vehicles and ppl tend to appreciate the exposure fo that info so keep an eye out for that soon if you're interested!
