  • The UK has all sort of odd legalities regarding cutting tools. Pretty much as a rule of thumb, if it's over a certain predetermined size and it's sharp, pointy and useful you're probably not allowed to to buy it, own it or carry it. I understand why there's laws, but someone needs to "them" the bad guys don't follow the laws. That said there are certain products on the market that despite their appearances seem to somehow fall firmly on the legal side. The Boker Plus + Worldwide is one such product. A hefty tool which seems satisfyingly overengineered I chose this as my campsite cutting tool companion.

Had this for a few months now, also have the lansky. I like keeping the lansky in my car as when closed, the back end (lanyard hole metal bit) sticks out a fair amount - think this could be easily used as a glass breaker.
I thought the mechanism on the lansky was strong but the boker is crazy. Personally I like to firmly grip the handle and flip the blade shut by pressing the blunt side against my leg.

It's a hell of a non locking lock! I've read reviews where people say they are quite intimated by the boker mechanism. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 👍🏼🙏🏼

Looks like a really decent blade, I have a couple of legal carry blades and a load that aren't legal that are reserved for camping and hunting trips when I have a valid reason to have it with me.
How has it stood the test of time for you, would you still recommend it?

Another 'budget' UK legal folding knife is the (Spyderco) Byrd Tern. Judging by this video, it's a mite easier to open and close than the Boker + WW, but still feels firm when open, and the finger choil will stop the blade folding on the fingers. I got mine from Heinnie Haynes - worth considering.

You know it's funny I've actually dropped it into the shopping cart numerous times and never pulled the trigger 🤔The one edge the Boker has over the Tern is you can actually baton with it, I've gone at some quite big logs with it and lived to tell the tale. But the Tern will definitely be superior for finer more subtle cutting tasks.

You say no questions asked....but unless you're on the Moors I'm guessing that would be confiscated...
I got the lansky world legal, have a sheath for it for when I'm camping, but just can't get on with the handle with my huge stupid hands. I want to sell it and buy one of these 👍

I agree with you, many police forces seem to be have very little understanding of what's legal and what's not. And in many instances just take a ham fisted approach to confiscating anything and everything with a cutting edge.🤦🏻‍♂️🤷‍♂️ I

Didn't the English once carry swords and axes into battle? Now you only get a pixie. Such a shame.

Looks like you have a flat spot on the blade on the recurve? I’ve seen a couple of videos with this in a similar place on the blade. I’m wondering if it’s blade rap and it’s crashing into the liners when closing because of the back spring strength? Looks like a beast though 👍🏻

Well spotted sir, it does indeed, I have looked at the closing and as far as I can tell it doesn't look like it's hitting anything but it's really hard to tell, it's all pretty snug in there, you may well be right.. that said I'm almost tempted to try and re-profile the recurve out of it, as much as I like it, it's kinda of impractical to sharpen. Beastly but impractical 😂🤪👍🏼

    What about folding saws?

I just have a very basic £6 ($10.30 CAD/$8.20) folding saw from my local hardware store. It does the job, haven't really looked to upgrade to anything better as we can't really cut trees and limbs unless you have the permission of the landowner. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍🏼🙏🏼

Why keep saying ridiculous ? Its better than that crap tiny one.

I was eluding to the ridiculousness of the law of the land regarding these two tools. One is legal one is not. And as it happens my kershaw cinder is probably my most used cutting tool. But each to their own, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
