      @@esalfaro Competitive has a much more narrow definition, because the strategies and lines involved are the most efficient and least interactable within their respective colours. You can run a lot of commanders in their respective colours competitively, but rarely cast them because you'll be leaning heavily on the 99. It's not that creativity isn't good, it's just not efficient enough in Competitive. Plus cedh players prefer to duel decks of similar levels or it'll essentially be a pubstomp, not fun for any player and generates feels bads.

    I’d love to hear an argument to the contrary but hitting someone for damage because “I haven’t hit you yet” is some casual shit. The stax player needs to remove Urza for exactly the reason Cam said-the stax pieces in play weren’t really stopping Urza at all.

      @@MegaBsterling the order doesn't matter in this case, because both creatures did hit Dylan:

    You guys are my favorite gameplay channel by a mile-wide margin. Still are. But I'm gonna echo other voices in here saying that the power level discrepancy was too big here. This might come out as overly pessimistic, but the cEDH community has put a ton of effort into curbstomping the "pubstomping stamp" these last few years, and when I see this I feel like I can hear certain redditors linking this going "SEE?? EVEN THE CONTENT CREATORS DO IT!!!"
    To clarify, I don't believe this is an example of pubstomping at all. And I don't think you guys should have your freedom to put your own content out there infringed upon, but like... What happened here? What about pre-game conversations? PtW is clearly a cEDH channel and YDomNT is very clearly not.
    Looking forward to your next video, when the "c" in "cEDH" hopefully stands for "competitive".
    Edit: "curbstomping" correctly edited to "pubstomping"! Wow

    • @Hitzel
      @Hitzel 2 роки тому +2

      I'd say that if you purposely bring a deck into a cEDH pod to see if you can win with it, and it winds up not being strong enough, that was simply you playing low tier and not you getting pub stomped.

  • @MasterDecoy1W
    @MasterDecoy1W 2 роки тому +3

    That isn't a "Rule 0" conversation, that's called "Maintaining the game state". You can't miss those counters because the rules say they are there. To imply that you could miss them by forgetting is as absurd as saying that forgetting to untap your lands at the start of the turn means you don't get to. Additionally, the counter on blast zone is not a benefit, it's a drawback to prevent you from being able to blow up tokens. By "forgetting" to put the counter on against any deck utilizing tokens, you could create a huge advantage by Cam and Dylan's logic.

    Yeah, I don't run Ghostly Prison or Propaganda in my Zur deck. I did use Web of Inertia, which works well with RiP to just make you unattackable, but the number of decks that helped vs wasn't very high, and most decks that need to attack don't especially need to attack me in order to win, just be able to swing to generate resources. It can slow down Najeela or Zur or whatever, but Web is really good vs Godo, and that's why I said 'I'm putting Malevolent Hermit in instead' and was happier. I think you need better cards than that usually, but I guess if you play in an all Tymna, Edric and Najeela pod why not? Even then though, I think I'd rather run a wipe over Ghostly Prison, White has really good wipes. You could even run Inkshield in Orzhov if you're really worried about big swings, that's a funny card I guess? I got ahold of a 2016 K+T deck not too long ago, so I am trying out the package from the deck in a Sisay build, but this is still it's Shrines phase, so we'll see. I wish it didn't take +5 turns to get a whole pile of shrines out, they'd be a lot of fun, as is I'm mostly hoping to avoid aggro, or at least Tramplers (Green Shrine makes tokens! woo!). I'm trying to figure out how fast I can get out all (or even just most) of the Shrines, the hard part is the first WUBRG, and getting it by turn 3 or 4 at the very latest, at which point I'm grabbing something to find bigger stuff, which feels bad, because all I have out is ramp/lands. AFAIK, if I can get Zur out, he can find a Haste effect, and then I can grab Jeggy and copy the elk a few times, eventually grabbing enough stuff to (unfortunately!) set up next turn, at which point I need to wait until my upkeep for my shrines to do anything. It feels terrible if you're targeted early, but it's interesting anyways. There are a few ways to copy Jeggy, but I suspect having to wait another cycle is just too slow to ever matter. Still, that'd be a cool high power deck maybe? I sort of like Heartless Hidetsugu and Vito, that seems considerably lower to the ground.
    In Casual I like War Tax a lot, but I almost wish they'd make a better Flood. Not because they should, but it would be handy!

    Question about the Rule 0 rule regarding counters: neither Wishclaw or Blast Zone have a "may" ability regarding their counters, so even if the player forgets to add the counters don't they have to be there as far as the game is concerned? It's always great to establish ahead of time that little mistakes like that are no big deal, but once a player points out that the counters should be there it feels like legit game rules would dictate that yes, indeed they are. It isn't like a missed optional trigger or taking back a play.

    I find the amount of comments complaining about deck power level a little disappointing, and many of those comments provide examples as to why members of the EDH the community have a problem with the cEDH gatekeeping that goes on. Sure they may not be "cEDH" decks, but high powered decks can still occasionally punch above their weight class and provide interesting games in cEDH. To me, the main issue was that some of the decision making was a bit too casual for a cEDH table. Regardless, it was a fun game to watch and it added a little spice to the same old played out cEDH strategies.

    Can someone explain how urza won at the end through all that bouncing and stuff

    • @Mad_Goblin_Engineer
      @Mad_Goblin_Engineer Рік тому

      Hullbreaker bounces a permanent, codex shredder, but before the bounce he taps to mill an opponent. Then he plays codex bouncing damp sphere. With his large amount of mana he can pay for the damp tax and do this loop until both player’s libraries are empty. He used the copy artifact to bounce the leyline giving one of his opponents hexproof. Then his opponents go to draw from empty libraries and die.

    There's no rule saying you have to have something on a permanent or player to represent any type of counters

    • @katharina.utecht
      @katharina.utecht 2 роки тому

      There are
      100.2. To play, each player needs his or her own deck of traditional Magic cards, small items to represent any tokens and counters, and some way to clearly track life totals.
      and
      121.1. A counter is a marker placed on an object or player that modifies its characteristics and/or interacts with a rule, ability, or effect. Counters are not objects (edit: in the sense of 109: Objects) and have no characteristics.
      Which in any setting would get you into trouble for refusing to use counters.
      Apart from having to represent the board state clear to all players

    I do not understand why dylan does not win with thassa's oracle if the card says that he wins if it is less than or equal

    • @whalesarefinetoo
      @whalesarefinetoo 2 роки тому

      Submerge puts Thassa's Oracle on top of it's owner's library, so when the TO trigger checks for devotion equal to or less than cards in the deck, devotion = 0, deck size = 1

    That's a pretty fair rule 0 for counters; there's so much going on in a match and in your head, I'm not going to want to hold it against someone for not physically putting the counters on a wishclaw or blast zone.

      I think “power level disparity” is more accurate than pub stomp. There’s no such thing as pub stomping when a game is explicitly cEDH-it’s not the fault of the players playing top tier decks when the other people don’t bring the appropriate heat
