The reason why Dante and Vergil don't look identical in this game is just because they used real life models to aid in the creation of the characters rather than doing it by scratch and of course they couldn't find identical twins so they did the best they could.

Actually, it doesn't need to be holes. In serious cases, trypophobia can be activated by repetitive patterns, like a beehive drawn on paper

First Devil May Cry came out in 2001 , and it has revolutionized the action genre with every entry.

Alright, so to explain the story of the Devil May Cry series in its most simple terms;
The Story is about these two half-demon twin brothers named "Dante" and "Vergil", who are the sons of a legendary demon named "Sparda" who betrayed the Demon King and severed the demon world from the human worl, ultimatley protecting humanity from demons. However, eventually Sparda died, and both Dante and Vergil, as well as their mother Eva (who was just a normal human), all became targets for revenge by the demons that were sealed in the demon world by Sparda. Only Dante and Vergil would survive the demons revenge attempts and then go seperate ways (not even knowing if the other one was alive), while their mother would die. Dante began to embrace his human side more (because in his eyes he is only alive today because his mother, who was a human, saved him), while Vergil began to embrace his demon side more (because in his eyes, his mother died because she was human, and therefore too weak). The two of them would end up in various conflicts over the years due to having very different views on their heritage as well as on the worlld itself, until Vergil eventually died while being controlled by the demon king as his servant (he didnt really die, but he would be in the process of dying). Meanwhile Dante would take on other demon slaying jobs where he eventually would find Nero (a.k.a.: Vergil's Son), and would help him deal with some demon problems in his life (which is what Devil May Cry 4 is about).
Devil May Cry 5 is basically the story of Nero finally helping to resolve the conflict that was between Dante and Vergil, because the two twins had such a strained relationship that they could not really talk to one another anymore without being locked in battle, trying to prove which side was ultimatley right about their view on humanity, but thanks to Nero they can now finally see eye to eye again.
Anyway, the lore about Devil May Cry is pretty interesting, the characters are really well done, but it also never takes itself too seriously (hence Dante's "Micheal Jackson Dance Scene"). The Series of Devil May Cry is more focussed on delivering a fun experience than telling the greatest story ever told, BUT the story it does tell is quite compelling, since all the characters are generally really likable. Aside from Dante, Nero and Vergil, there are also a bunch of supporting characters from other games as well, who are equally as compelling, but the main story revolves around Dante and Vergil specifically, so their story is by far the most important.
well to give a short explanation on the lore.
Vergil and Dante are both brothers and are both half demon half human hybrids. Vergil and Dante do work together from time to time but usually they fight a lot between each other.
I don't know much more since it's been forever since i've played one of the games and never got to fully finish them :)
They treat each other more like rivals than brothers considering the times Vergil screws over Dante by attempting murder and other villainous acts just to spite Dante then one day Vergil meets a woman has a son with said woman disappears for like decades after the woman dies from giving birth to Nero because canonically giving birth to demons kills the host which is why considering the amount of games around Dante he still hasn't got laid or had a child like the chad Vergil, until Nero has his own game in the series and shows up in the 5th installment to just cut off his arm so he can grow strong again to troll with Dante and fight him, that's top tier brotherhood right there

@@TAMAMO-VIRUS hmmm, I think the difference is Vergil wasn't around when the woman gave birth to Nero, while Sparda was with their mother when she gave birth, basically it seems logical that a demon could protect the mother from dying while birthing demon children.

Honestly there was in a line in there that summarizes the game "Vergil hires Virgil's brother and Virgil's son to defeat Virgil with Vergil." That honestly summarizes most of the game.
Fortunately, you don't really need to have played the first 4 games. Game 5 is still easy to follow if it's your first. All you really need to know is that Dante and Vergil are brothers. Dad was a demon and mom was a human. Dad sacrificed himself to protect humanity. Dante became a demon hunter and Vergil tried to open the gate to hell. Naturally, they had a disagreement over this. Also Nero is there and he's working with Dante. Bam, that's really everything important
LMAO DMC as a whole is the reason I struggle with games like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, etc. There's no input lag on gameplay. The book and the chair were mods because no one makes fun of DMC like its fans. Since you're brand new, I would suggest not starting with DMC1, DMC2 or DMC3. Start with the newer DMC4 and DMC5 and, if you enjoy them, play the older ones. DMC3 is the hardest of the bunch, DMC1 is weird because it was supposed to be a Resident Evil game, so its gameplay is odd for someone just starting out. DMC2 is just... bad. Rushed, made without the original dev team, and you can beat it with the guns only.
But the biggest thing to keep in mind is yes, this is Capcom. They don't let realism get in the way of having fun with this franchise, especially DMC3 and after.
If you get a chance, go watch trailer reactions for DMC5 when it was announced. It'd been ten years since DMC4, and something like 7-8 since the game DmC: Devil May Cry came out, which was a reboot and one of the first times a PR team decided to blame gamers for its poor sales because they mocked us old fans and berated us for not liking the fact that Dante was so out of character and didn't look right, and they changed the story so much. Instead of owning up and just saying they wanted to do something new, they doubled down, did that, and Dante looks exactly like the creative director for it. We were then berated for a decade almost for wanting DMC5, being told by journalists and the like that we were stupid because it would never, ever, ever, ever happen.
So, DMC5 is precious. It gave us so much we wanted. It was experimental with its multiplayer experience, but otherwise was beautiful and legit funny and sad and great. I think you'd have a lot of fun with it.
As an aside: You should try playing Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle sometime. It's also a lot of fun.
You should definitely play this game. I, like you, don't have the patience for souls games nor do I like them that much, but I fuckin love games like DMC5 and Darksiders. Definitely check them out they're awesome.
You'll need to at least play 3 and 4 first for proper context and gameplay practice but this series is a genuinely amazing experience that I highly recommend. Also fun but squicky fact Nero is in a canonically incestuous relationship with his step-sister, this is not a joke.

The thing about Max0r: You have to know at least major points of whatever he's talking about otherwise you're only gonna end up even more confused.
However: "Vergil hiring Virgil's brother and Virgil's son to defeat Vergil so Virgil could become Virgil: featuring Vergil" Is basically the game's plotline in a nutshell.

Oh man I love DMC, if you want to play the games I recommend playing 3 and 4 before 5 for context for the series, but if you only want to play 5 that's ok, they give you a little video summary of the games at the start.
DMC5 is an amazing game and honestly the pre final mission cutscene makes me cry and I know its dumb but its a culmination of waiting ten years for a legit sequel concluding the story of Dante and Vergil. Also you can legit start at five and go back to the older games. Theres a literal history of DMC option on the title screen that goes over the events of all the games including 2 and the anime in like less than ten minutes.

For the DMC5 lore:
Dante and Vergil are half demon hybrid twins that take their sibling rivalry to a whole other level. Nero is Vergils Son, who got created when Vergil knocked a girl up offscreen before Devil May Cry 3...making Nero the nephew of Dante.
Both Brothers have a unique Sword which do opposite things. Dante's sword unites his demonic heritage with his humanity (reason why he got a power up), while Vergils Katana seperates them (resulting in the creation of V, his human side and Urizen, his demonic side). V united both halves, which lead to Vergil becoming....Vergil again
It actually does a little more, there's the render of his face and you can see some faint cracks or varicose veins still there, atleast that's what I just noticed.

Idk if i remember it correctly but i think there is this badass scene where dante and virgil get stuck in literal hell at the end of the game and near the end credits they fight a endless hoard of demons together like the menaces they are. Someone tell me how accurate this is.

I love that micheal jackson break is random enough that it almost looks fake and fits in with this summary but is actually the only thing not really taken out of context. That dance was real in the game and I laughed by but off.
So Vergil “died” after being mind controlled by the previous Demon King Mundus, and he eventually broke free after Dante killed Mundus, but Vergil was slowly dying so he stole Nero’s arm for power and to take back Yamato (which Nero received as a gift from Dante) in order to use it to server his human and demon halves. V is Vergil’s humanity and Urizen is Vergil’s Demonic side given corporeal form. He chose this because after losing to Dante, Mundus, and Dante a second time, he decided his human half was holding back. He ate the demon fruit to gain an insane amount of power but Dante was still to strong for him until V reunited with Urizen and Vergil was restored. But having eaten the fruit and accepting his humanity, he finally became Dante’s equal. The Bird, the Panther, and the Giant Tar looking monster are the representations of Vergil’s pain and trauma from his time as Mundus’ slave given the form of Demons that Dante killed in the first game.
At some point he visits the island that the fourth game takes place on to learn more about their father Sparta. While he was there he spent an evening with a woman and she ended up giving birth to Nero, who eventually encounters Dante.

Devil May Cry is my favourite game series! If you wanna try it out I recommend getting the Devil May Cry HD Collection which contains DMC 1, 2 & 3! You can start with 1 or 3, either is fine if you ask me, but know that 2 is the black sheep of the series (that and the reboot we don't talk about) and it can frankly be skipped entirely. DMC 4 is great too and you can start with it but I wouldn't recommend that. DMC 5 is arguably the greatest game ever made but it's even better if you have the context of DMC 1, 3 and 4. I can't recommend the series enough!

5 is the end of a very long story arc and (on a narrative level) is probably not the best place to jump in although it's dmc and the story doesn't really matter all too much

While playing previous games for this one isn't needed, I'd say that playing at least DMC3 is for the sake of getting a grasp on character like Vergil, as well as where the "Devil May Cry" comes from in the first place.

Look I'm just saying. Urizen had a point. A city is a small price to pay to shed the burden of taxes.
So in simple, this game Vergil steals Nero's arm which is actually his sword the Yamato. He uses that to sever his demon half from his human half. Urizen creates the tree for the apple for ultimate power. V hires Dante to beat him. Dante loses cause I don't actually know why but lets just go with it. After a lot of fighting V finds Dante and wakes him up. Dante has the Devil Sword Sparda, which when he stabs himself with his own sword Rebellion, it fuses his demon half and human half, the opposite of the Yamato. Then after beating Urizen, V uses the cane to connect the 2 halves together. Like Dante, after accepting both halves of themselves, they unlock Sin Devil Trigger. Vergil is Nero's dad. Dante goes to the top to fight Vergil. Nero stops them from killing each other. 🎉🎉🎉 Now Vergil wants Nero to prove himself so they fight and Nero wins. Btw don't think Nero is stronger. Keep in mind Nero is in Devil Trigger fighting an exhausted and weakened Vergil, since Dante and Vergil are stated to be perfect equals in strength. So Nero the goat of 3rd parties stops them. Vergil and Dante go and use the Yamato to close the portal from hell to real world. They are supposedly trapped bug we see them in the van in a loading screen so they get out somehow. Now Vergil is an ok guy, even though he was never a villain but just an antagonist who just wanted to prove he is stronger than Dante, nothing more, nothing less. Everything is good, the only foreseeable problem is the demon king since he was only sealed and not killed but Dante, Vergil, and Nero by now could kill him in base form. So unless we get a BS new boss. The story could just stop wity them vibing.
Fuck the holes. Play the game.
