I just scored big time. A MacBook Pro 14” M3 Pro 18GB Ram 512GB SSD for $1350.00. The original owner tried to switch from PC to Mac and couldn’t make the transition. His loss, my gain. 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Nice, I just got the same one at best buy for 1499, what made it better is that they had a open box version in excellent condition for another 100$ off so I got it 1500$ after taxes, compared at apple for 2200 after tax.
M3 is a hot chip. I bet it will be under clocked or less voltage for an air chassis, or will hit thermal limits quickly. Whatever you choose, don’t buy any new Mac with only 8gb of RAM.
@@oscarsuarez4843 you will be surprised of how much memory, the operating system and a web browser will consume. You’re buying a new computer in 2024. You expected to last 3 to 5 years. Do not buy one with 8 GB of memory.
Great video as always Andrew! I initially ordered the M3 version and upgraded the RAM to 16GB until I realized that it was only $200 to get all the benefits of M3 Pro, more than double the RAM of the base model, better processor, extra thunderbolt port, space black color, ability to drive 2 external displays, better thermals. Ended up canceling my order and getting the base M3 Pro and am currently typing this on that device, super happy with my purchase!
I had the M3 in the basket last night about to pull the trigger until I watched a few reviews. M3 Pro seems to be the popular choice. This will be my first MacBook as I've always been a Windows guy until last night. I updated my windows 10 to 11 and all of a sudden I got an endless cycle of "blue screens of death." Seems that somewhere in Win11 OS install and my laptop's firmware, the system went crazy. I had to recover the drive and ended up losing all my files. I'm over it... looking forward to seeing how these MacBooks work.
I just did the same thing. I was upgrading the M3 to 16Gb and 1 TB and then realized I could get the M3 Pro 18GB and upgrade to 1TB and it is only 150 more. I am on the student discount site, maybe that is why yours was 200 more. But for 150 more seems worth it to buy the M3 Pro
I did the complete opposite. I originally bought the M3 pro, only to find out that it has an 18 hour battery life compared to the M3's 22 hour battery life! I returned it at the apple store and got the base M3 as i would prefer the extra 4 hours of battery life personally.
I'm using the base model m3 MacBook Pro , seriously guys it's amazing , I never faced any issues until now , if you are not about editing a very heavy video codecs or animations, then this m3 base variant is really a good choice , I Have used docker, adobe and all heavy apps , until now haven't faced any issues with it, because except ram and chipset you won't get anything special in that extra 200$(extra 1 fan) , so If you think that spending a additional 400$ is not a problem for me , then you can go with m3 pro , or else if you think that most of my works lies with the single core , then stick with this base variant
I just got my first MacBook ever! MacBook Pro M3 pro what an incredible laptop! I just do basic stuff on it. the sound and display sold me on it from the MacBook Air
I initially went with the base M3 but seeing those specs starting at $1600 is freaking criminal. I bit the bullet and spent the remaining $400 to upgrade to the M3 pro and I believe it's the best bang for buck MBP M3-line right now.
You need to do a benchmark review and tell us why the Macbook Pro M3 Pro is better than M3 version besides the range of benefits that include an extra port and cores. How much faster is it performance wise? Do those extra cores work better or more efficiently than simply putting more ram in. Very shallow review but thanks anyways.
i ended up getting the 14 m3 mac pro but i just speced up to 16 gigs of ram and 1T internal stoarge. I hate how apple overcharges for that stuff. it still comes out a little chaper than the M3 pro mac pro and solves alot of the issues of the base model. you have to order it tho cant just pick it up in stores
Excellent advise. The MacBook Air is not a cheap laptop from Apple. It's actually a premium laptop that removes some features like the mini-LED display, a bit of performance (because there are no fans), and some of the ports to make it light and sleek with optimal battery life.
I've got the base 18/512gb pro.. Upgraded from m2 air when I found the 8gb of ram just wasn't enough. The pro has been awesome though.. Overkill for day to day stuff but handles heavier stuff and gaming, even somewhat convoluted widows steam via whiskey just fine. that 18gb of ram is awesome and I've yet to really max it out. This model definitely feels like the sweet spot when it comes to price and performance. Also found a killer deal on the pro which doesn't hurt either.
@@jacksonyukihillary I haven't bought. I think I'm either going the new M3 Air or a refurb M2 Air. I'm waiting around March when Apple release it. I didn't went with the Pro because the company laptop which was M1 feels heavy on my lap or stomach when I'm working that way. 😂 I'm choosing portability over performance for hobby coding projects. For context, I don't do any video editing, animation, rendering. I'm a software developer.
@@arvi8843 the M3 Air dropped. I have a M2 air 15 inch base. It doesn't have enough ram or storage for me so I think I'm gonna upgrade but I can't decide what to get. I really dislike that the new macbooks don't support bootcamp because now I need a fairly powerful macbook to run a VM smoothly. For some reason apple actually upped my trade in from $720 when I checked last week to $820 since they the new drop and with education pricing it'll only be like $1100 for a M3 Pro with 18gb and 512 storage or a M3 with 24gb and 512 storage. Tough choice!
So my 2 cents I had an MacBook Pro 15in Retina display 2002 and it worked amazing only reason got rid of it because of battery even after replacing still bleed. So if you can get the M3 pro MacBook Pro with 18 gb for longer usage. I buy Mac’s to last years. I definitely love the MacBook pro over MacBook Air M3 15in which when had a 15 in MacBook hardly took it with me so the 14 gives me 13in portability with 15 in pic quality . Just my opinion 🤷🏾♂️
I don't really know what to choose. the MacBook M3 Air 16GB/512GB (€1,760) or the MacBook M3 Pro 8GB/512GB (€1,850). I would mainly use it to edit photos on Photoshop. The better screen quality and the SD card slot on the PRO model is a big advantage for me. Or am I better off with the Air M3 16GB/512GB because it has more RAM? I use a Nikon D750 and edit an average of 500 photos per year. So not a heavy user I guess? My current laptop is an Acer nitro 5 (8GB/512GB) from 2019
16 gb would make it last at *least* 4-5 years of use. 8 just isn’t enough, and’ll last you 3-5 years max as your main workstation. Get a multi sd card-hdmi-usb a dongle with your air and you’ll be fine
Thanks for the video. I agree and have ordered the m3 pro. I’d like the max, but don’t really need the extra power + cost. Thou it does appear to be a good value upgrade. The big question I have is this. Actually 2. Everyone keeps saying that the benchmarks mean it’s not much faster than the m2 pro (or worse). But I wonder if a) it’s more balanced and gives better performance on average. And b) is Apple not quite finished with it. e.g. what are the chances of Apple pushing an update in the near future that unlocks additional goodness that isn’t built into the m2 pro. i.e. now that Apple controls everything, wouldn’t it make sense that they would progressively optimize their own chips to run components of their own OS?
i am on am 2020 13 inch macobok pro with 16gb of ram and M1 processor and 1tb or storage it drives my 5k thunderbolt display just fine. I am not sure why they are limiiting the M3 chip to only 1 display again that seems stupid to me even the shittest PC laptop can do 2 displays.
