I love Crutchfield; however, one must remember just because something (speaker, HU, etc.) fits, doesn't mean it is going to work they way you think it is going to work. Examples: 4-ohm speaker receiving signal from a Bose amp...new HU sending signal to a Bose amp...100w RMS (88dB sensitivity) labeled speakers receiving 10w from stock HU. Just a few examples of things that do not work as well as one might think; but they fit.
Installed the same JBL speakers, JBL GTO 620, into my 2019 Sport. The original ones, made of super cheap paper, stopped working. Mazda is foolishly installing junk into their cars to save a couple of dollars. Video was very helpful for disassembly of the door panel. On removing the old speakers, saw that they were 4 Ohm, whereas the 620s are 2.5 Ohm. That is not ideal, I should have done some research before buying the 620s. On assy, note that the white wire should be plug into the negative terminal - speakers worked with reverse polarity however prevented the other speakers from working, which I only found out after completing the assy of both speakers. Also, on my car the speakers had to be installed in a certain orientation in order to work reliably and that had nothing to do with the harness. Finally, I couldn't get the door panels to snap back on - I later saw the advice from one of the commenters to first insert the plastic rivets into the panel. Thanks.
Lol for anyone who get the door back on. It’s because the white plastic rivits are stuck in the door still. You need to pop them back out and put them back in the interior panel. Then just line up the panel and it will pop right back on easy you’ll see where they go. Once you do it once you’ll see and it’s really easy. I was sweating trying to clip the interior panel to the plastic rivits when the were still stuck in the door frame lol just take them out one by one and put them back in your interior panel
Excellent video and recommendation on replacement speakers. I replaced my factory Bose speakers (horrific, paper, garbage) with JBL Stadium 62F model ($219.99 at the time of this writing), and I can truly state this is a WORLD away from stock. Every aspect of this replacement is an upgrade. I do recommend selecting the -3db adjustment on the tweeter as it "outshines" the pillar tweeters to a great extent. Leaving them at the initial 0db setting is fine, but you'll hear more of the upper frequencies from these speakers than you may desire if you want your highs to emanate more from the stock tweeters.
@Alvinkng they honestly sound pretty mid, I regret not getting the bose sound system but other than that the miata is an awesome car. The 2020 sport is the one I have.
Awesome video man, I installed an 8in underseat subwoofer in my 2016 ND last month cranked the volume too high one day and blew out both my door speakers. Will be using this video as a guide when my new speakers come in. How do you like the JBL compared to the stock Bose?
Great video. But how about some specs on the speakers or a sound clip or some pricing. Im looking to exchange my speakers in my sport and this is not helping other than to look for JBL.
The link to the speakers has been in the video description since I put the video out. Are you complaining that I don't show you multiple brands of speakers that atr for the miata? I'm not a sound professional. I'm simply giving people a guide on how to change their door speakers.
@@cramzap4975 ...if you order from Crutchfield, they will include the harness and adapter rings as long as you enter the correct vehicle info. Just because something fits, doesn't mean it will work as great as you expect it to. planning is needed for the various parts of your build. Like matching the max (up to) RMS of the speakers to the source they receive the signal from.

have you encountered any problems with 2.5 Ohm speakers during this year?

Sounds good I’m actually looking as purchasing these speakers to replace the bose ones on my ND2 club
Just came to say thanks. Installed replacement infinity Kappa speakers using your video in my 16 ND. Pretty straightforward.
Where was the harness and adapters ordered from?
Is this the bose version of the miata? Im looking into upgrading the stock speakers on my non bose one.
Do you find some info about the change for non bose system?
How does the non bose speakers sound is it alright? Im about get a 2020 miata sport

Where did you order the adapters and harnesses

Do you have any problems with your speaker in the driver seat. I have to set the volume high in order to hear people that I talk to oh my phone.
Hey Ashley, yes with the bose or these speakers I always had to turn the volume up high for in car calls.
