It astounds me the way people speak to a man who was kind enough to create a video explaining in great detail different ways to help you!! Im grateful he shared his knowledge from his experiences. I didnt have any ideas what to do and sure u folks didnt either....thats why we looked it up on youtube...right?! Thank you sir for your video. I appreciate it
Gotta say, when all other methods failed and was just stripping away more of the screw (size #00) the one method that worked was soldering the screwdriver to the screw. Had to repeat a few times, but it's out! Amazing, thanks!
Great ideas and video! Using your suggestion about using sticky packaging tape wrapped around the tip, I was able to loosen the stripped screws in my wife's iPhone 6s Plus. What also helped was using a second phone with a magnifier app which also turns on the flashlight while magnifying. That enabled me to see in great detail the stripped screws, as well as the initial slight movements that were occurring as I attempted to loosen it. Appreciate all the UA-camrs comments as well!
Thanks man, great tips! I didnt have a lot of options. Eventually a flat tip and a piece of cloth for better grib along with some down force got it loose :)
This was really thorough and helpful, thank you. I don't know what this Amazon vendor sent me, but 3 tools and only one is labeled with the Y 0.6 30mm and now I have two screws rounded on the inside of the phone on the motherboard. I am going to try electrical tape with sticky side down and a blunt tool like you said, just to get it going. It can't be THAT tight. Well, hopefully...
The tape method worked!! Admittedly I didn't have a small enough screwdriver for these really tiny screws but putting some fire retardant tape (which usually is very rubbery and flexible on the surface) worked, although very slowly and required some force.
Thanks so much! I was a little annoyed at first when you didn't mention about spinning screws. Glad I stayed and you mentioned a magnet, worked perfect!
If your pentalobe screw isn't coming out (as in it makes a slight click noise as you rotate it), try and unscrew it to just before it clicks. Get a magnet and place it on the screw and pull out. This worked for me.
solder the screwdriver with the screw ... wow is the best idea I've heard in my life, god, you're a genius, now if that damn screw will come out of a good time
thanks for the vid it was extremely helpful, my problem was the bottom screws were filled with crud and when i was trying to unscrew it lose touch and strip the head and the tool, i used the rubber band and it defenitly helped get the crud out and saved the tool a bit from stripping more but what got it turning was a good ol 1.0 flat head with some pressure.
Thanks for the great video! I don't know what kind of screws my Huawei Mate 9 had, but nothing easy worked. I went down the drilling path which was nerve-wracking but worked well. Frankly, I don't even know why they have screws; there is so much tension just prying the case open, that even if there were no screws it wouldn't open by itself in a million years. I changed out my battery which wouldn't fully charge and I was getting constant overheating warnings. Got everything back together and it is now working perfectly. Thanks again for making this video!!!
Awesome video thank you 👍🏼 I didn't try some of the method's but you did give me an idea tho. I used nail clippers to grab hold of the screw and it worked 👍🏼
I was looking for some tips on how to remove a stripped screw inside a phone. There are a couple options here that might consider. But I just wanted to add that if you’re just simply trying to remove a broken screen, you can use and I said some mowers badger and just ripped the screen off and break the screw tabs completely off of the old broken screen. I’ve done that a couple of times. I do in-Home/in-office repairs and sometimes that’s all I can do. Another thing is he mentioned the screws not wanting to come out. Sometimes on aftermarket screens, the screw tabs are bent inwards a bit and if you don’t bend them towards the frame of the phone before installation, the screws won’t come out. So one option is to screw the pentalobe screws back in with a bit of force so that you make those tabs bend outwards and then when you unscrew it it will push out of the phone.
If the screw is up at all from the edge of the phone, you might be able to use a pair of flush cutters to get enough grip to twist it out. When all else failed, this worked for me.
In this case the purpose is to help people avoid having the same problem in the future _and_ improve their skillset. Also there is a box in the lower corner that says "Solutions at 3:30" This is included so that you can skip the intro if that's not what you came here for.
@@ewerton8463 I can't speak for every UA-cam creator but as far as my channel is concerned the goal is to prevent and solve problems by communicating useful information. I used to get so many comments from people complaining that they broke something because I didn't explain it great enough detail. If the intro isn't relevant to your problem it is easy to skip ahead which pretty much minimizes view time for those who don't want to watch that part. At the same time it allows me to leave in every detail that other people might find useful. You can also speed up the video all the way to 2X if it seems to slow for you. Let's face it some people catch on faster than others and technicians probably need about 1 minute of this particular videos content while some little old lady who's 85 years old but determined to fix her own phone might need a whole lot more than the average person off the street. As far as UA-cam's ad revenue: 1. It's based on view time not video length so skipping ahead will minimize that. 2. As far as my small channels like mine it is almost laughable. Adsense is not a great way to earn revenue unless you have millions of views per month.
ill give my own advice that works 9 out of 10 times. just use whatever suction you have to lift the scren and at the same time unscrew. warning dont force the screen to much just a bit is enough
I had a screw stuck on the SE home button when I was replacing the lcd, so I pried the metal and moved it a little, took out the home button and the cable, ordered a new metal part for it, and boom (THIS WONT WORK FOR PHONES AND IF YOUT DOING IT BECAREFUL YOU MIGHT DAMAGE SOMETHING)
There are times when the screw head comes a bit out, in those case try pushing the screw from the side of it, a sideward and an upward force might work
Thank you I literally tried everything else, I ended up just having to break the screen off on my xs, however, when I opened it, nothing actually broke, it just opened, the little hole on the screen side is bent, as though the screw was put in not aligned properly and they just pushed the little bracket back and bent it, and was never actually through the hole at all 🙃 no idea how that works as this is its first opening but thanks!
Hello, Great video I just lost 2 - 2.7 mm-long T3 (bottom USB screws) ? where to find? Can you help what exactly do I need to replace, Xiaomi Poco F1 Android. Thanks
Thanks! A lovely, clear, well-presented instructional video. Going to try your solutions with a recalcitrant screw on the back of my LG Watch R. APPENDIX: Success!!!!!!! A million thanks! (Embarrassment: at one point, I had been screwing in the wrong direction! In the end, the duct tape worked....)
I just used nail clippers on a screw, I was able to get the nail clippers to squeeze the screw tight enough to turn it a little bit and then used tweezers to finish rotating it. My screw was inside and not on the outside like in this video.
hello mate i got this problem the head of the screw is rounded would i be able to put a little pry thing in between the bottom of the screen and the case and lift it up to snap that little mettle bit of the screen that the screw goes into because the screen needs replacing anyway would that work thanks dennis
You can make a tool for stripped screws by taking a skinny poking rod tipped screwdriver and dipping into liquid cement, let it dry and repeat until it is thick enough. I recommend making different sizes to comply with different screws and keep it as a set of additional tools that you know you can depend on. Something along the lines of a .060 inch steel tip hobby punch tool and liquid Flex Seal. Curing is key!
I've only dealt with one iPhone 7 Y000 that was stripped but it was on the battery terminal cover not the home button. In your case I think it would depend on which screw. The one directly behind the button could be a problem if you applied pressure which is what I did in addition to using a similar sized Torx bit that was able to grip enough for removal. You might be able to carefully use a blade and cut a straight slot into it then use the smallest Phillips you can find. Jewelers use a ridiculously small one that supposedly can fit into a stripped Pentalobe screw from what I'm told but I don't have first hand experience on that. If I think of anything else I'll add it here later.
I'm having that same problem with 2 stripped battery terminal triwings. With your experience what did you do to fix it? I have superglue and a soldering iron. Which method do you recommend? Thanks for the help keep up with the good videos!
Another way (I just found out) is great for internal screws. As the Y-screws wear out pretty fast, that indicates that the metal is quite soft. So I took a scalpel and forced it in the screws head so it bites. After a few turns, the screw was finally out. Screw was f***ed, but I had a replacement.
I tried the glue one before and it didn't work, but now I know that other people including you have had good luck with it I might give it another shot, maybe my glue wasn't strong enough!
1:45 they should include the proper bit with devices these days, or at least the proper "size" description so we know what to use without damaging the tiny soft-metal screws 6:20 left handed drill bits would be best bc it might even back out the screw
Super Glue worked for me. You have to be very careful obviously with this, doesn't take much glue. leave the glue for 5 minutes to let it dry. Then pull slowly.
Thanks to @PreppyKiddo77 and @Alex Xomon for adding this tip: Try lifting the screen a bit so that there is tension on the screw. That may be enough to engage the threads so that you can unscrew it.
I made the Japanese standard mistake, ended up drilling out the whole screw in a phone motherboard. Let's say it was a neurotic experience.😂 The screen was located right at the backnof that screw.
Torx bits drive me insane...After I get the screws replaced on my pocket knife I am going to pick up some Wera drivers and hope that keeps me from stripping the next set.
Dude, the screw that holds the M.2 SSD on my laptop isn't coming out and while I'm waiting for the right size tools to come, just the idea of these ideas of yours not working are giving me the big anxiety lol
Mine is a vivo y53 1606 the screws are in a star shaped I have screwdrivers that have a tip that's star shaped sadly all of them can't make screws come out :/
Sometimes propping the screen open slightly will help you get some traction. If that does not work you may have to drill out the screw or force it open and possibly damage the screen in the process.
Didn't work. Ill probably have to drill it out, and im super scared because i'm doing it to a board screw... And the board has no iCloud so if I screw up and drill the board, that's the end of my 5s. Edit: Thanks, it worked.

Awesome! Congrats.
Thanks a lot! Drilling the screw out with an extractor was the solution for me.
Thanks dude!!! That rubber band did the trick. I was wearing out the screw with each attempt, luckily I stopped before wasting them.
DUDE! U TRIED THE SECOND METHOD IN MY 3DS AND IT WORKED! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!
Unfortunately none of the "easy" solutions helped mut thanks for the tips, good to know in the future.
im screwed

I had to use the drill. Thanks for the advice. This really helped me finally get past a stripped screw on my drone.
What to do abt stripped threads on the holes? Do they have oversized pentalobe screws?
*WORKED*
That double tape method worked for me
Thank you very much
I didn’t have a bigger bit so I took a file and filed down the tip of my 0.8 and it worked like a charm!
Do you have a link to where to get the Japanese screwdriver standard one?
Thanks so much! I was a little annoyed at first when you didn't mention about spinning screws. Glad I stayed and you mentioned a magnet, worked perfect!

Good call. I should have included that as it will create tension on the threads. Thanks for the comment.
Worked out for me, I was almost ready to give up. Was checking in the comments if anyone else had similar problems. This should be added to the video
Took me 2hrs before I saw this comment! Thanks!
