Slightly belated comment. I've bought a set of these on your recommendation Chez. I'm always messing about with stuff with small screws, and hopefully these will get me out of it the next time I get a stripped recess. (Ooo missus!)
Thank you for this. I for the life of me couldn't get an Itty bitty t6 out of a knife I was switching parts on. Stripped the heck out of one screw and thought it was a lost cause.
I did a non model specific search for "stuck key fob bolt" and this was the first video i found. Funny thing is I have exactly the same Honda key problem...
I think part of why the 1st bit didn't work is that the RPMs were too high. It's recommended to go only 70-100 RPM for both burring & extraction. Glad it worked on the next size up though! Thanks.
Do you think the Grabit Micro #1 would removed a countersunk 3mm hex screw whose head is rounded off? The Grabit site talks about being able to remove 3mm bolts, not sure if that equates to a 3mm hex head screw. Thanks for the great upload.
I’ve been trying to fix my 80’s Gijoes which have tiny stripped screws, but nothing has worked. Not sure if you can use an extractor for that type of screw..

+++++++++++ A cool trick for working on stuck electronic screws is to touch them with a hot soldering iron for just a bit... This will loosen the plastic's grip on the screw.+++++++ Learned this from another youtube channell, big clive if I remember correctly.
Hi there. Thanks for your video. It's very helpful. May I know do you used Jabob Chuck to connect the screw extractor to drill bit? I can't connect the extractor to drill bit because the diameter of the micro grabit extractor is too small and the my drill bit hole is bigger than than screw extractor
I worked and worked trying to unscrew this screw without success. This is how I got the screw out from my 2007 Honda Accord key fob. I used a couple of drops of WD-40 on the screw head and nearby shaft of the key ( three aplications of WD-40 a few hrs apart) and left it to soak for 24 hrs. After about 24 hrs I heated the key shaft with a soldering iron. It only took about 30 seconds to get the shaft very very hot. The screw easily unscrewed with a small Phillips head screw driver. I was amazed at how easy it came out!!
Hello sir, how best to remove the retaining metal screw that has been stripped out from a euro cylinder lock in a door? Maybe a spring loaded counter punch? Any advice would be very much appreciated - thank you 🙂
@@ultimatehandyman -- Probably used the type of thread lock that requires you to heat it to get it to release, but then they put it in a plastic housing that would melt if you heated it to that point... Did you need to remove the screw in order to get to the battery compartment for the key / remote? If so, that's a pretty braindead design...Something that routinely needs to be opened should not have thread lock on it and should have a more robust screw whose head can't be easily stripped out.
Honda uses Loctite on those little screws. Sometimes a gentle bit of heat from a soldering iron before attempting the first try can help release the thread locker

(I notice you mentioned that you were about to intentionally try to drill out the screw head if this didnt work.) I tried using a small vice grip to turn the remaining screw out but there was not enough material to hold on to.
If you can't grip the remainder of the screw there is not much you can do (have you tried the micro-grabit) If it was me I would use a little glue from a hot melt glue gun to hold the fob together.
