I'm in college for game design. I love your videos. I'm mainly good at programming but I've always wanted to be good at pixel art. Every time I watch your videos I feel 10x better at it. Thank you a million times for your tutorials
Pixel art is great for programmers to learn because its way easier to create something decent :) Also I love it because it takes less time and when you do game jams time is crucial.
I've looked for a lot of grass tutorials and your way of explaining and guiding towards inspiration like on Pinterest was soooo appreciated keep up the work.

Thanks Pixel Pete for these awesome videos, Been watching a lot of them before bed now for a few days. Today is Payday for me so I clicked on one of your videos to get Aseprite through you! Another way to show my appreciation for these videos. I will be looking into the game as well. I truly want to become an artist like yourself!
My friends and I are working on a game of our own, (We're making an indie company with it and such) And it's gonna be the start to something HOPEFULLY awesome. I'm making the pixel art, I've done pixel art before but this is the first time making a game while doing so. I plan on using more of yer tutorials because these are incredible and super helpful. From one aspiring dev to another actual dev, thank you! Hope to see you out there someday ;D
you should make a book. You have so much great information. It be a shame it be lost. Your tutorials are helping me alot. I can draw real good on paper, but pixel art has its own rules and schemes. And your making me think of art in a whole new way. I also think their aren't many books on the subject. Be nice to see something like this published.
Pete, just wanted to give you a huge thanks, your videos are down to earth and easy to follow. Your personal insights go a long way, too. Thank you and I can't wait to see more.
Honestly, I´m not much of an Artist or anything fancy like that. I lust like fooling around with Pixels in Aseprite... sooo I decided to watch some tutorials on how to draw stuff that looks actually like stuff... and here I am... and man.. I love those videos, they are helpful, neither too complicated nor to simple and funny
If I had you like 4 years ago, I wouldn't have done like the worst grass tiles ever. (Of course I could have used references, however, my mindset was different at during that time it felt like cheating. ) Thanks for your awesome tutorials!
Bro, you are incredible at explaining, I have a big doubt, I have always heard that as a beginner you have to work with a reduced color palette, but when doing the hue shifting I am adding more colors to the palette, I am confused. btw I'm Mexican and I don't speak English but I understood 99% of what you said.
You don't need to have a reduced palette. It is easier and faster to use less colors but more colors often makes the art work look better. However to make things aesthetic (look good) you should pick dominant (main) colors that control the mood / theme of the art.
Thanks for this! I have learnt so much from your tutorials! I wishlisted dwerve on steam because it is the least i could do to repay you for everything you have helped me with! I am gonna redo my grass tiles now lol
This is the exact kind of channel I wanted to watch, and then youtube gods recommend you. Perfection! And if you have an extra key laying around I would love to follow along!
Your videos are the best tutorials I've found for someone just starting out. You have some awesome techniques. I love learning the little shortcuts in Aesprite to make things feel right.
I compile my Aseprite from source like A REAL MAN :'D Might buy it one day, but for now I stick to compiling it myself, as I don't do that much pixelart to get it.
Okay I know this is an old video, but I was wandering what dimensions I should put for my starting canvas? Like when I first open a new file what pixel size should I use? You seem to use more than 32x32 and you do multiple drawings on one page Just wandering!
Thanks, this is really in depth and helpful! Next time, could you leave in some kind of source for the examples? Like a little tag under the images. I'm really curious about what games-in-development some of these are from. Plus it helps out the devs! :)
I've been following you now! Your video helps me a lot, even helping me to introduce pixel art to my students! You might be not noticing but the impact of your help in this video is so big, that I no longer creating grass resembles a green middle finger from the green ground! Also, are you still giving keys? :3
Pinterest is great for pixel art ideas: I use it quite often, since there's a lot of useful inspiration material. I'd love a tutorial on pixel characters. Have you ever thought about making one? Also, are you still giving away Aseprite keys? Am I too late to get one? Keep up the good work!
@@PeterMilko Cool! Do you have full-time job and creating the game in free time? I have a nice idea for the game, making it actually but dont have as much time as i would like to have, and after studies I want to work on it as i mentioned. I like your project mostly cause of cool pixel art but for idea too!:)
Hi there, love your videos! I read that you use Unity as a game engine, and I assume you're using tilemapping? Were you able to figure out a strategy for the lines that sometimes appear between tiles? I keep trying different things (like turning off AA) but nothing seems to eliminate the lines between tiles.

The youtube overlords have deemed you worthy of my attention. They believed I would be interested in grass.
They were completely correct. Subbed xD
Haha thanks for the sub! Next video will be water :) Editing it now.
Your tutorials are very practical and straight to the point. Also I'll be sure to buy your game when it comes out!

Good explanation of pushing those pixels! :)
