I'm starting to get somewhere playing with this. Only issue I seem to be having is when I try to move the mesh through the Lattice, it just moves the entire lattice and mesh rather than just the mesh.
In the tab add-on you can remove Tissue (or just turn it off) and then "install from file" picking the zip of the latest version. Consider that the new version doesn't have a dedicated tab, the Tissue operations are splitted in the "Create" and "Tools" panels.
Yes, you can find it in the same release. Remember that in order to use shape-keys you need to create them in the component and then use a vertex group for the base mesh (look at my other tutorial)

I think this may be related with the parenting of the objects
