Today I removed the seats of my 1998 Porsche Boxster 986. They are actually seats from a 2006 Cayman S 987. Made this DIY tutorial of the removal and installation of the seats.

Thank you for the helpful vid! My driver seat bottom has collapsed so I'll eventually have to take it out to repair it. Nice to know I'll need to pickup an E12 socket

My front passenger seat is in the maximum forward position and has quit working. It intermittently stopped as it travelled forward to its final resting spot. Access to the front two bolts are difficult to reach. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Drill some drain holes, just in case you ever get water in there it will drain out and not destroy your module.

Great video, thanks. Very helpful in getting at least one of the seats out of my newly-acquired, moldly old 986! Any helpful hints on getting a stuck driver side power seat to move so that I can access the four bolts...?

Good afternoon. I've removed the centre console and given it a good clean, soaked in degreaser and a load of brown muck came loose. Scrubbed it and is now like new. I will hopefully remove the seats tomorrow morning to then remove the carpet and clean it. I discovered the carpet damp on UK drivers side today (passenger side bone dry and all drain holes clear). I've noticed the floorpan looks like a missing bung behind drivers seat maybe the route cause of the water ingress. I'll refit the seats and then deep clean carpet and dry and can try find this new water issue. Its absolutely dry under and behind the passenger seat where the ecu is kept

I have a 2013 Boxster S, the car windows were left down and now I need to replace the BCM under the passenger seat, problem is, with the rain the seat motors were ruined. SOOO...I can not move the passenger seat forward to get to the bolts. How do I move the seat forward or remove the seat without motors or power?? Please help!

Just curious, any specific year Cayman seats fit a specific year Boxster? Mine is an 2003 Boxster and thinking about Cayman seat replacement vs recovering. Thanks!
+fg4401 I THINk most are compatible but if you find a specific your I’d just call your local dealer and ask if it will fit.
How do you remove the centre back rest insert cushion? I want to swap the passenger and driver side since the passenger one is like new.

and make sure you put a towel or similar over the hood latch. You do not want to close the hood with the battery disconnected. Ask me how I know....
Haha good tip for the 2000+ models. Mine has the mechanical latch luckily.

I removed my seat to put new leather seat covers on and didn’t pay attention to the bolts that anchor the seat. One is longer than the other. Does the longer one go in the front, or back?
All 4 of my bolts were identical
Air bag light is on after remove seats
+Voodoo Child if you don’t disconnect the battery first then that will happen. Then you will need to reset the light.
