Im sure this speech has saved a life somewhere in the world.
It absolutely has.
I think this just saved me.
mine, i wanted to end it and then i watched this
Mine
2 months late to the party. Went through a really rough year during 2020-2021. My favourite science teacher referenced this speech saying 'its not about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward' mainly that conversation that day, and some many after that saved my life. So kinda saved mine
That speech got me sober. Over 5 years now I been clean.
Congrats, man. Keep on going
proud of you
I want to be in the same position as you bud. If you have any tips or tricks let me know.
Good job
Congratulations!
One of the greatest scenes in film history, with one of the best monologues ever written, from one of the greatest actors ever.
Exactly!👍💪😊😍
Agreed. Every. Single. Point.
absolutely. you nailed it
Yep
The kid is overacting the first half of the scene. Kinda awkward to watch.
Rocky isn't just talking to Robert, he's talking to us.
When I look at myself in the past, I don't recognize myself...some punk. I'm better now after breaking from my past and rising again as a new person.
I don't know about you but I get chills everytime I watch this scene
@@otravis676 every time
Yes
Facts , it's a quote I use to my employees all the time
The speech is brilliant - but it's the end when he speaks directly to his son by saying, "cowards do that, and that ain't you! You're better than that!" gets me every time
I totally agree with u.
Me too
This scene was somehow able to hit harder than any punch thrown in the entire franchise.
you probably never took a punch from dolph lundgren or Mr T...
@@user-qb6mc8zx1y did you?
You are right.
@@user-qb6mc8zx1y Taken harder hits from Life....
It put a tear in my eye for sure.
“But Until you start believing yourself you’re not going to have a life”
Yes we've heard it too.. not necessary to write it down here..
I always come back to this Rocky motivation speech, I'm 26 years old now and this scene still give me chills due to how much I need to believe in what Rocky says
Just keep punching!
@@TexasGolfer always
Just do like he said, keep taking the hits and keep moving forward like he said that’s how winnings done. you know what you’re worth go out and get it
I am reaching here much much later than you in age and I am going to keep on coming here like how you do! Incredible dialog!
There's a reason why the windshield is bigger than the rear view mirror. 😊
my father died years ago, and when I have a hard time at university I watch this video because Rocky reminds me a lot of my father. now that I am graduating, this video holds such a special place in my heart.
That is fantastic
I'm in my first semester of college and it's certainly been a big change for me. I was about to start moping again and this video's gotten me back on track. I'm glad this video has helped you. I'll also be watching it when things get hard.
That's great man. Congratulations. Nobody told me life itself was going to be WAY harder than university. Think of it as a big obstacle and not a finish line. Life just starts after graduation. Keep moving forward. You got this.

God bless you and your father must be so proud
“Don’t forget to visit your mother”. Saddest line ever.
2:39 “Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!” ~ Rocky

This speech still brings tears to my eyes. 43 y/o man tearing up over rocky speech. Lol
It hits hard! It’s a life speech I live by, whenever I get down on myself. I’m 31 years old and every time I come back to this scene it hits harder and harder every single time. And he’s right.
46 years old here and feels the same way 😅
40 y/o and truth
haha, same here lol
Lol, weak
Easily one of the best speeches/scenes in a movie ever.
I love when Rocky raises his hand and says how his son used to fit in it, and the son rolls his eyes like what is the old man talking about… And then the power of that speech begins!
After 32 years of military service and seven university degrees, in 5 minutes, I learned more from this scene about life than any other movie, I cannot thank these actors enough.
Thank you for your service 🫡
God bless you for your service!🫡
There will always be people who see themselves as victims and blame others for their problems; and then there are people like Rocky, who take their own lives into their own hands, and fight. The latter are the winners, no matter whether they succeed or not, because they defeated the hardest opponent - themselves.
As a son that’s had issues with my father this hit my more than a ton of bricks. Love your father fellas. Regardless of what’s he done or hasn’t done.
Thank you for saying this.

This speech is amazing because Sly truly made it on his own. He earned this speech
Well, he did write the movie.. :)
Trully it is
I cried when I saw this in the theater. My son got me the poster of this speech for Christmas a few years ago. On the wall in my home office. Now 62, I still cry when I see this scene. Rocky/Stallone epitomizes the human spirit. Thank you Rocky.

I listen to this speech whenever I feel negative about things in my life 👌
Rocky is right. No one will hit as hard as Life, but it how much you can take and keep moving forward. That is how winning is done. Amazing that this is on film.
I think Sly was inspired to write this the way he did based on his own career, which is chock full of hits and failures. No matter what, he kept moving forward and he is still a winner.
Like Nicholas Cage.
I read everybody's comments..but I want to tell you all that I have nobody in this world..No Mother No father..No Brother.. Nobody...Only One Son who's 4yrs old and my wife took him from me and left me..Now I m fighting for my son to get him back in the court...I just want to share my feeling that how hard I felt after watching this scene..😔😔😪😪

The best speech ever of all Rocky's
This speech is up there with Rocky 3 when him and Adrian talked on the beach
And in Rocky 5 where he was loosing respect from his family because of Tommy Gunn.
Which Rocky is this clip from?
@@RobertPrestonHill Rocky Balboa (2006)
My dad died when I was 16. He had been sick for several years with various health problems. He was also an alcoholic. But I have my dad to thank for several things. He was born in Europe and came to America in his 30s, so he gave me life in America where people like Rocky can work hard and keep moving forward. My dad was also a very hard worker. You don't get anywhere without working and my dad did rough physical labor to support his family. My dad was far from perfect and he had many demons in his life. He never really was a father to me due to his illnesses. But I thank my dad for all the things he did do for me. Rocky and other father figures helped me where my dad wasn't able to help me.
Im so sorry for your loss my friend. Alcholism runs in my family and unfort iv succumbed to the illness myself.
My condolences
nice story,, thanks for sharing that bro, made me think
Left his son not only speechless but with the im sorry look in his face.
ikr, he was the literal definition of speechless, who wouldn't be. that kid learned a lesson, i don't even think he was acting at that moment
Just realized his son looked like he was about to cry.
I memorized this speech and said to myself from time to time and Keep moving forward.
34 years old and recently single. Can’t accept that life wasnt fair during to the breakup and even to now. I had to have Rocky to lift me up. It aint about hard you hit but how hard you hit, it’s about how you can get hit and keep moving forward. Thank you Rocky
The most impactful scene I’ve watched , Rocky was able to push up people through words and not only fighting or trainning and that’s why Rocky was a turning point for its time.
One of the very best inspiration speeches ever he was not just talking to his son but to all of us too 😊❤
On The Family Stallone, Sly takes his family to Philly and to that same spot. He starts saying the speech and his daughters start saying it! They know every word of that speech. Sly ingrained it into their lives as they grew up. He says of all the great things he’s written, this speech is the best!
I've been a fan of Rocky since #1 came out in theatres. Rocky has never been about fighting. The 1st 3 were a love story. Since then, they've been a life story. That's what this old Rocky fan sees anyway.
I totally agree with you
I love Rocky IV. Russia/Drago! Training hand made differently, in the cold, he does it with heart, determination! But eventually, Adrian shows up. And they motivates Rocky to keep going, for himself, family, and Apollo!
Rocky V is classic, street fight, helps his son stand up for himself, and money/cars/houses = materialist things vs. family, heart, determination to do something.
Even Creed 1-3 are valuable lessons for the younger generation under 40 years of age. Come from something and turn into something bigger! Earn it, fight for it, don’t stop!
Unpopular opinion: this is the best part of the all the Rockies since IV.
My favorite speech in the Rocky Balboa franchise and 12 years later He and Rocky Jr reconcile because of The Italian Stallion finally getting to know his grandson named Logan and Logan looks like his late grandma Adrian
This clip should be shown in all the schools/ universities around the world.
I totally agree
Gave me direction on My darkest days. Thank you Rocko.
"Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life." sums up all the Rocky saga. What a great line and monologue !
My favourite quote of all time
When my son is old enough to blame other people for his problems I will show him this
Adrian would have these talks with Rocky. Now Rocky is having the same talks with this son.
that is interesting.
I have 3 sons im done paying child support, im not in there lives, i live on the other side of canada, we dont speak, i chose to move away to find work, to keep moving forward, i was in a homeless shelter in london ontario, now i live in Edmonton alberta i work full time in the alberta oilpatch , i havent drank in 3 years, im 53. I'm not someone to look up too, but I've always worked, never given up.
Do u believe in yourself? If you do, do you want your kids be a part of your life. If you do, you know what to do.
I first saw this as a 19 year old in the cinema and thought it was a nice scene. Now as a father of a one year old son, I come back and watch this quite frequently and get emotional every time. Simply magnificent, arguably the most powerful scene in the whole franchise
The best speech about life . Everyone should listen to this speech. Learning to keep pushing forward . Every time I feel low I listen to this speech. Truly inspirational.
Sylvester Stallone talented man who created something great that’s on screen for over 40 years.
Rocky Balboa my only favourite sports Movie.
When I have a wobble,I always come back to this, to set me straight. "How much you can take and keep moving forward"
This is the scene that taught me about accountability and I always reflect on it. “ you ain’t where you want to be because of him or her or anybody, cowards do that and that’s not you.”
One of the best lines in this scene is the unspoken one when Rocky gestures to himself as the “big shadow” that his son is using as an excuse.
It is always good to rewatch this.
This is literally my inner monologue everyday. It's always a pull and a tug between the man I want to be and my self doubt.
Thank you, Rocky, thank you.
Sometimes I just need that reminder.
While I like the Rocky movies I wouldn't consider myself a Fan but man I can say that this scene is one of the best scenes in cinema history. That speech hits so hard and true.
The greatest speech not only in the franchise but probably of all movies in general!
Life struggle in one line ...Rocky Rock ...life is all about to do our dharm ( our duty ) .. great 🙏🙏🙏👍👍👍
17 yr old here and this speech really motivates me before going to school to get through the day lol
I slipped and fell on the floor today because the floor was wet.
My fiance came back from the store just in time and saw me on the floor.
He reminded me of this video ☺️
I told him I need help getting up off the floor.
On the first attempt I lost my footing and slipped again on the floor.
On the second attempt I told him to play this video.
I cried when Rocky said "It ain't about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward ⏩"
"Cowards do that AND THAT'S NOT YOU, until you start believing in yourself you're not going to have a life!"
Those words gave me the strength and the encouragement to give it a second try to push up on my own strength off the floor.
I bruised my arm and bumped my knee when I fell the first time.
I noticed my left big toe was bleeding and I must have injured it when I fell.
My fiance took care of my toe, wiped up the blood from the floor and put a bandaid on my injury 🤕
We played this video a second time and I didn't fall. It gave me strength to "not give up!"☺️
I pushed my body up off the floor and stabilized my balance to stand up and get on the bed. 🛏️
With the help of my fiance he pushed me unto the bed gently as I stood up and I managed to get on top of the bed.
I did it! I didn't give up.
I know this was lenthy BUT I needed Rocky to speak to me (and my fiance) to NOT TO GIVE UP!
#BeEncouraged🏆
The entire franchise leads up to this monologue, which describes her in one sentence, brilliantly!
This may be the best motivational speech ever to appear in a movie. And both actors were perfect.
He don’t have a son in real life that I know of but he says keep punching and I will. In movie land and he has a son and in real life he was blessed with 3 living children. 3 more than sone of us got so I know he’s thankful and fans are thankful for his motivation. Thanks Sly for making movies to motivate people.
He had two Sons in real life from a previous marriage, Sage Stallone passed away and actually played Rocky’s son in Rocky 5
@@Dannycwhite my condolences to him and his family.
This speech never fails to make me cry. Heard this speech again yesterday after a few months and the amount of tears I shedded was insane. Love this movie to death and grateful for this speech
I grew up watching Rocky, and when this film came out, I was an adult. I never, ever, forgot this scene because when I had kids... this was my credo to be there for them. Tough love and it is not about how hard you hit, it's about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. Forever. Thanks, Rock, thanks for showing me how to fight.
I have this speech printed on canvas on my feature wall. I have struggled with mental health for years. Each morning, I see a reminder I can take hits and keep moving forward and it really helps.
🌹I came to know Christ in jail in 2013 by reading a book, "Overcoming spiritual blindness" by James P. Gills MD. The veil was taken off my eyes. Heaven came through for me in my finances too, getting $50,000 in 2months . I can support God's work and give back to my community. God is absolutely more than enough!
Hello how do you make such monthly ?? I'm a born Christian and sometimes I feel so down of myself because of low finance but I still believe in God.
Isaiah 45:3 speaks of a transference of riches from the heathen to the righteous... I will give you the treasures of darkness and the riches hidden in secret... I receive this for my household in Jesus' name. Amen!
What a testimony!!! 🙏🙏🙏I'm genuinely curious to know how you earn that much monthly
I started pretty low though, $2000 thereabouts. The returns came massive. Joey is in school doing well, telling me of new friends he's meeting in school. Ava Brenda Harry you're a miracle
Can I also do it??? My life is facing lots of challenges lately
Many young people in this generation will never grow up to experience tough love from a father…This scene is still blessing so many people. I still have tears in my eye when I watch it almost 20 years later.
When he talks about the privilege that was watching his kid grow up, is just like that. Is the most incredible privilege of all, see your kids grow and the profound hope that they´ll become good people.
With all honesty and seriousness, this scene changed my life for the better, best, and greater good. It broadened my mental capacity and helped me developed a much bigger and better mindset than I had before I discovered this.
Keep moving forward, dont blame other ❤
Growing without a father and listening to this hits harder. thanks, Rocky. For teaching me how to get hit and keep moving forward.
Prime example why "Rocky" is my favorite movie/franchise of all time. Always inspiring. I get choked up every time I see scenes like this.
I've suffered so much in life from the moment losing a parent who never really cared to begin with them to suffer from bpd and psychotic hallucinations living with a permanent bully putting me down and reminded me off all I lose and the things I don't have to live and be there for a son to have him ripped from my life in an instant to raising a 2nd child almost single handely for the last 3 years to be left with no family's or friends justify trauma of the last decade and the daughter who keeps me going this speech speaks to me.
Until you start believing in yourself, you're not going to have a life.. This word hit me like a heavy punch.
A lot of comments about how incredibly good the lines are. But I can't stop thinking about his amazing delivery. ❤
This is literally the second time, I've heard that speech, and the first time I heard it, touched my heart so deeply, it stuck with me and brought tears to my eyes
The person who wrote that speech has probably saved a life/lives somewhere with it. Truer words have never been spoken. Very inspirational, thank you
This speech is what is getting me through my marathon training with countless injuries
One of the greatest speeches in film history. This is brilliant writing and acting from Stallone. This scene is one of many reasons why Rocky Balboa or Rocky 6 is the 2nd best movie in the franchise.
“Don’t forget to visit your mother”
Fatherhood is about showing strength in sensibility and this is the best example I have seen in cinema to date
I've watched this scene over 100 times an I just noticed something. As Rocky is talking to his son and trying to get him to wake up and shake off the bitterness, jealousy and envy, you can see where Robert is really taking in Rocky's powerful words. If you watch closely at 2:53, his sons facial expression shows that Rocky is touching his heart and really getting through to him. Robert's demeanor changes and its easy to miss, but when you re-watch it, it's very powerful in its own way.
Out of all of the Rocky's, this one is my favorite. Don't get me wrong, I love all of them. This one, though, pulled at the heart strings so much. It was a movie that needed to be made and it was fantastic.
Thanks you rocky. I need to hear this today. I appreciate it so much. This is a great inspirational speech.
This speech changed my life.
I love this speech, it's because of this speech I became as brave as ipman and faced off with 15 thugs in an arcade arm with a baton on my left hand and a parang on my right hand. Ofc I wasn't alone I had my best friend next to me who was welding a stool
Love this scene, & its amazing & inspirational speech. Very awesomely motivational. It also induces these vivid & powerful flashbacks of a long ago time when my father was imparting his built up experience & wisdom, offering me advice, insights & these sage perspectives that, upon reflection, made total sense, & came straight from the heart. Wish I listened to him more (there was a lot of Rocky Balboa in him, huge hearted, patient & gentle as he was, yet also very wise to the ways of the world). If I could ever offer any genuine tribute to honor him hopefully these comments of heartfelt appreciation do just that. He was a Great Guy at heart, as my father is very missed.
This speech hits more than a Rocky´s punch.
I have to listen to this speech every now and then just to remind myself and put things into perspective.
you have to wonder how many ppl this touched x
" until you start believing in yourself you won't have a life"
Life is the hardest fight you will ever have but you can beat life you are the champ pcb and wbc boxing
"Don't forget to visit your mother" man thats a cold follow up line
My mum passed three months ago and it's been tough, but I suddenly remember this scene and so here I am
This speech is greatly presented! Love it! The late great Dr. Stephen Covey, in his articulation of 7-habits, puts "be proactive" as the first on the list! Individual needs to take personal responsibility for his own life, and focus on what he can control rather than what he can't, such as his past up-bringing.
A good speech between son and father
I've been a martial artist fought many times, but he's right nothing hiits you harder than life 😢
this is what the world needs to hear right now!
This speech actually woke me up one day….. it was telling me I’m the only one in control of my life.
And at the end of it all, like everything in Rocky's life it all comes back to Adrian "Don't forget to visit your mother..."
Happy Rocky day
I've worked on a bunch if films and t.v. shows including Ocean 11 and 13, this film was my proudest moment. Sylvester Stallone was a gentleman and a lovely. generous, humble man on set. He gave me my closeup and I can honestly say he is the greatest talent and the sweetest man in Hollywood today.
